Welcome back to Elemental Crisis Book III. Last time, Supergirl got her training in the Earth Element. And while she showed some promise in summoning it readily once she learned it's stronger when in contact with the ground, she ended up continually blowing holes in the floor when she tried to launch the Element forward. And now the D.E.O. grounds are pockmarked with craters. With that trio of training montages out of the way, how's everybody doing? Read on to discover...
(Our scene picks up back inside the D.E.O. where Spyro and Supergirl, the latter of which is covered in red dirt from the surrounding landscape, are rejoining the rest of the team after training)
Sentinel: I take it things didn't go too well?
Spyro: Yes and no, honestly. They went well in the sense that Kara is pretty good at summoning the Earth Element when she's on the ground.
Supergirl: But they went poorly in the sense that I can't seem to stop blowing myself into the ground every time I try to unleash it.
Superman: Being honest, Kara, that is still pretty good. Especially considering I can't even unleash the Element I'm working with.
Cynder: Trust me, Clark. You'll get Wind down eventually.
Spyro: (To Black Lightning) How's J'onn doing with Electricity?
Black Lightning: Better than when we started, that's for sure. Still a little out of control, as the burns in the training area can attest to. But I've got solid confidence.
Martian Manhunter: I can feel it, but control just isn't coming.
Superman: (Sarcastically) Want to trade Elements, J'onn?
Mxyzptlk: Trust me, Supes. You're better off with Wind. I've seen worlds where you get electric powers and they're just plain weird.
Superman: (About to ask how the heck that's possible, then remembers) Right, 5th Dimensional Imp. I forgot for a second.
Cynder: Anyways, so far everything looks to be progressing smoothly, well, as smoothly as this situation can get. But...
(As Cynder's about to continue that sentence, a rumbling can be heard. At first it seems ominous, until Superman notices it's just his stomach)
Superman: Sorry. Didn't really have time for breakfast before everything went crazy.
Spyro: To be honest, I could go for a bite too.
Supergirl: I will second that.
Cynder: Honestly, probably a good plan. Let's take a quick break and get something to eat, then get back at this. We have no idea what moves our enemies are making, so we need to be ready for when they strike.
Sentinel: Good plan.
Martian Manhunter: I concur. Now let's hit the canteen.
(As the good guys go off to snag some food, we focus back in on the villains, where Myriad, General Luthor, and Malefic J'onnz are regrouping to discuss everything that's just happened while Myriad appears to be working on something)
Myriad: So, Superman has secured Wind and the Martian has Electricity?
Malefic J'onnz. Pretty much.
General Luthor: Don't get some superiority complex after that, last I checked you failed to secure Earth.
Myriad: And unlike either of you, I have begun devising a plan to recover that which we've lost.
General Luthor: Jokes on you. I've got one already.
Myriad: One you haven't felt fit to share with us.
General Luthor: We may be on the same team, but I have to have an ace up my sleeve for when you two inevitably screw up.
Malefic J'onnz: Sure, keep telling yourself that, egomaniac.
(As the boys start to argue, Myriad is about to interject when a dark mist fills the room, indicating Malefor is listening in and has grown tired of the bickering)
Malefor: SILENCE! (To Myriad) You all have failed in your task. You know what will be forfeit if you fail, Myriad.
Myriad: You need not worry, Lord Malefor. I already have a plan completed that has a 98% chance of success.
Malefor: And why not 100%?
Myriad: All other alternative strategies had lower probabilities of success. None were higher.
Malefor: I see. You had best hope that 2% chance of failure doesn't rear it's head, or yours will roll. All of you.
Myriad: Calm yourself, Master. I have everything under control.
(And with that, we see exactly what Myriad has been working on, a familiar fragment of crystal. It's a Dark Gem that Myriad appears to have fashioned into a shield of some kind, paired with a blade made of what looks like Kryptonite. And on the sight of the weapons, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to end off for today. I bet you all thought I forgot about the Dark Gem fragment Flash had sent off to Cisco for analysis earlier. Well, you'd be partially right, because for a while, I did. But now we're acting on it. And it looks like Myriad is too. What do they have planned? Tune in next time to start finding out! Same time... same channel!
