This chapter contains ALL of the above

I realized I forgot to use honorifics and I apologize.

Keep in mind, those who are close to The Boss, Maki Modoshi, call him Maki, not Modoshi.

So, I know I said I would come up with a way for you to choose a path but to be honest, the more I write this, the more I'm rooting for Lucy and Chisaki. I will work on other pairings, one being Dabi. That being said, there's going to be alternate versions of this. Up until a certain chapter will be the same then shit happens and it takes Lucy down a different path. As I write this I've been working on Dabi's version on the side because he'll be next. I'm thinking after him will be Hawks, and so on… Their stories will be posted at a later date.

What the hell did I get myself into?

Flashback

"Say bye little Fairy." And they're gone without a trace. Virgo disappears as she is about to hit the two guys with Spica Lock.

"Wha-" Lucy's world goes black. When she comes to, she's falling into the night sky, plummeting quickly. "Crap!" She grabs a key and summons, "Aries!" Once she poofs into existence Lucy yells, "We need a soft landing!"

"Yes, Miss Lucy. Wool Bomb!" Aries shoots out wool from the palm of her hand. Both she and Lucy land on it, bouncing a little. "I'm going to go Miss Lucy if that's okay."

"Of course, Aries. Thank you." Lucy manages to get herself out of the soft wool and looks around. "I landed in a dark alley. That's not creepy at all." She plugs her nose at the horrible smell. There's a dumpster full of garbage as well as garbage scattered on the ground.

'Be careful princess,' Virgo speaks to her telepathically, 'there's something different about this place.'

"I will." Lucy can feel it in the air just how different it is. The ethernano in the air isn't as heavily concentrated as it normally is. Is she still on Earthland? She thinks of all the different worlds she's been to and when Edolas crosses her mind she decides to be safe and not use her magic just yet.

She quietly creeps to the mouth of the alley, peaks around the corner, and looks up and down the street. There are tall buildings, the likes of something she's never seen before, the vehicles on the road don't look anything like that she's seen. There are a few people out walking along, a few seem drunk if their wobbling and slurred speech is anything to go by.

"Spirits, I don't think we're in Magnolia anymore." Lucy slinks back into the alley, hoping she wasn't seen.

'I don't think we're on Earthland anymore Lady Lucy,' Capricorn informs her.

"Could you please ask Grandpa Crux to do some research to figure out where we are?" Lucy whispers as she leans against the brick building.

'Do you not think we're smart enough to have already asked him?' Aquarius snaps. 'We're not in the celestial spirit world anymore.'

Lucy whisper shouts, "What? Where are you?"

'We don't know and can't even contact the King. It's weird, even when you went to Edolas and Elentear we remained in the spirit world.' Scorpio tells her. 'It's not causing us any harm though.' He adds that because he knows Lucy will be worried about their well-being.

'Crux is going to try to figure that one out too.' Capricorn states.

'Can you utilize star dress?' Leo asks.

"I don't know, let's see." Lucy goes further down the alley, lessening the chance of drawing attention because of the bright light. She got lucky no one noticed her summon Aries. She pulls out Virgo's key so that way should she draw attention she can dig herself out of there. She puts the key against her chest and whispers, "Virgo Star Dress!"

At first, she thinks she's failed but then she can feel Virgo's power coursing through her. "I can access your magic but can't change into the star dress. I suppose that's a good thing, I don't want to stick out too much." She releases the magic because she doesn't want to use up her reserves when she has no idea what's waiting for her.

'Can you activate the Fleuve d'étoiles?' Virgo asks.

Lucy pulls it off of her belt and summons the power to activate it. The stream of yellows and blues comes out and with a flick of her wrist, it goes where she wants it to. She deactivates it but keeps it in her hand just in case.

'Do be careful Lady Lucy. We'll let you know through our link once we have more answers.' Capricorn says.

"Thanks." She makes her way out of the alley and walks down the street doing her best to not stand out. If Natsu were here he would stick out like a sore thumb pretending to be a ninja. "Natsu…" Lucy sniffles. She swipes the tears beginning to fall away and sniffles. She knows that wasn't him, but it doesn't lessen the pain. Why did this happen to her? She doesn't get a chance to think much more about it because someone grabs her by the wrist and drags her into an alley that is more rank than the one she fell in. She digs her heels into the ground to stop him from pulling her along and attempts to break free of the hold the person has on her.

"Koko ni aru mono o mite kudasai. (Look what we have here.)" A man with crazy hair says. It's long and moves around on its own reminding her of Flare.

An animal-like man has a hand up showing her his long claws. "Kanojo wa subarashi tsuika o shite kurerudeshou. (She'll make a nice addition.)"

"Kanojo wa Kogaku no kake-kin o erudeshou. (She'll get high bets.)" The man who has a tight grip on her wrist states as he yanks on her arm and pulls her in front of him.

Lucy stumbles and falls to her hands and knees. 'What language are they speaking?' By the sounds of the voices, she counts three men, unless there's more hiding nearby. "I don't know what you said, or why you're doing this but I'm not going to go that easily." She tells them as she stands back up. She looks at all of them and they're giving her disgusting smirks. She glares back and realizes she's not getting out of this without a fight. She activates her whip and backs away so she can have eyes on all three.

The air gets colder and it's because of the man who had a grip on her wrist. "Kono hito wa kanojo no naka ni arasoi o kakaete iru. (This one has some fight in her.)"

Capricorn's voice is in her head when she reaches for her keys. 'Lady Lucy, you don't need to hold our key to your chest to use our powers just like you have never needed to with Aquarius's.'

Lucy nods her head and mentally summons Taurus's power. "Tell me what you said."

Crazy hair apologizes, "Oh, we're sorry. We didn't know you don't understand Japanese." His hair shoots out towards Lucy and wraps it around her.

Lucy struggles in the hold, "What is this crazy hair magic? It's not like Flare's."

"Magic?" Crazy hair scoffs as he throws Lucy into a wall. "It's not magic, it's my quirk ya dumb blonde."

The animal man scolds crazy hair, "Don't rough her up too much. Our boss won't be too happy if we fucked up this exotic prize. She's going to be worth a pretty 1-yen."

'So, this place has something called quirks, not magic. I can't afford to hold back.' The animal man is closest. "Lucy-Kick!" Lucy shouts as she kicks the man in the chin sending him down the alley and into a garbage can. He tries to speak but howls in pain instead. Ice appears below her and she replaces Taurus's ability with Cancer's and uses one of the blades to stab into the ground to stop herself from slipping and falling. Lucy learned to do this during her sparring sessions with Gray when he would use that damn Ice-Make: Floor spell. She can't count the number of times she hurt her tailbone from falling. "I told you I'm not going to go that easily."

Iceman stalks to her, "What makes you think you can get out of this?"

She uses the ice to her advantage. Holding onto the blade stabbed into the ice, she swipes her foot on the ice to give her more momentum spinning in his direction and pulls off a leg sweep, knocking him on his ass. In the corner of her eyes, she sees hair coming at her again. She uses the other blade to swipe at the hair, chopping it into pieces. She doesn't catch the other guy firing off ice attacks in time. A shard embeds itself into her thigh. "AHHH!"

Iceman gets back on his feet, "Where did you get those blades? Is it your quirk?"

Before she gets a chance to answer, an animal man, who has blood pooling out of his mouth, is charging toward her. She's surprised that he's not slipping and falling on the ice and notices the long claws coming from his toes digging into the ground to get a grip. He attempts to swipe at her with his long sharp claws but she bends backward in time and dodges the attack.

"I thought you weren't supposed to damage me too much?" A look of disgust crosses Lucy's face when she sees the animal man's jaw dangling. The dark aura coming off of him is strong and what sounds like a guttural growl comes from him. He charges for her again and she snaps her whip up for it to wrap around a bar on the building and pulls herself up. The animal-like man parkour's his way up, hopping between the buildings. She swings down, kicking the guy in the face, messing it up even more, and before she can hightail it out of there, the guy with the crazy hair catches her and throws her into a building again.

She grits her teeth and stops herself from crying. That really hurt but she can't give up. Just like she didn't give up during Tartaros. Natsu couldn't come to her aid then and can't come to her now. It's up to her to save herself. Natsu… 'Focus on the fight Lucy!' Aquarius screams through their telepathic link. She glares at the man, "What do you want me for?" She goes back to using Taurus's strength.

"For an auction of course. Like I said, you'll be worth a pretty 1-yen." Crazy hair tells her. He yanks her to him with his hair which is a mistake on his part.

Lucy doesn't need to ask what kind of auction. Once she's close enough she headbutts the guy, clocking him right in the nose. A sickening crunch can be heard and blood gushes out. When he lets her go and holds his hands to his face, she kicks him in the gut sending him into ice man. She makes a run towards the mouth of the alley and stumbles. She holds back a scream when an ice shard embeds into her calve. Sensing the animal man charging at her, she turns around to cross her arms in front of her to block the attack. It sends her skidding into the road. 'Thank Mavis for all the training with my friends.'

Lucy turns her head to the sound of screeching tires and is blinded by the light. She shuts her eyes tight and braces for the impact. When it doesn't hit her, she opens one eye and looks to her left. The car had stopped a few inches from her. The sounds of car doors opening and feet hitting the ground reach her ears. Instead of heading in her direction, they're headed to the alley she had just escaped from. One set of footsteps approaches her, and the light is no longer shining on her. She doesn't move, instead waits for what's about to happen. There are sounds of a scuffle in the direction of the alley. She flinches when a hand touches her shoulder.

"Daijobu. Anata o kizutsukeru tsumori wa arimasen. (It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you.)"

Lucy is taken aback. He almost sounds like Master Makarov. She gets a look at the man who has his hands up in surrender and can barely make out his features. He's tall, has gray hair, and big bushy gray eyebrows. He's wearing a kimono that goes from head to toe, and sandals with socks on his feet. "I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you said."

The man replies in English, "I'm not going to hurt you. I promise I mean no harm."

There's no mistaking it. He sounds exactly like Master. He holds out his hand waiting to see if she'll grab it so he can help her up. She eyes the hand critically and then at the old man. "Do you mean that? Because I take promises very seriously."

"I'm a man of my word." When she takes his hand to help her up, he notices her wince. "Now, let's get you out of here and treated."

"Thanks, old geezer."

"Excuse me?" The old man asks astonished at her boldness to call him a geezer. Does she not recognize he is the Oyabun for a yakuza? It's a good thing Chisaki isn't here, he'd have a coronary.

Lucy's eyes widen at the man, "I am so sorry! Where are my manners? My adoptive brother must have rubbed off on me. It's what he calls our Grandfather, and the old man doesn't care-"

The man chuckles, "It's quite all right." The man is a little offended, but he cuts her some slack since she just got beaten up by three men. Judging by the state of them she held her own pretty well. "So, what's your name?" He asks as he gingerly walks her to the car.

"Lucy. May I ask what yours is?"

"No surname?"

Lucy shakes her head no, "I like to go by Lucy." When she's seated in the back seat, the old man sits next to her.

"Well, Lucy, I'm Modoshi Maki, but I suppose you can call me Jiji."

"Jiji?"

"It means old man or old geezer in Japanese." He figures why not let her call him that. His instincts are telling him to keep her close and protect her.

"So, that's the language you're speaking." Lucy sees a big white rectangular vehicle pull up. 'That was fast.' She watches as her attackers are thrown into it. "What's going to happen to them?"

"You don't worry your pretty little head over that. Sato, we need to go to Yamamoto's." His driver turns around to go in the direction they came from.

"What's a Yamamoto?" Lucy inquires as she watches the driver. 'How is he driving this thing? Where's the SE Plug?'

Modoshi laughs, "Yamamoto isn't a thing, but a person."

"Oh, sorry."

"It's okay, she's a friend of mine who takes care of people who don't want to be questioned." He calls said woman and speaks to her in Japanese. She's none too happy about being woken up in the middle of the night.

Lucy nods her head and looks out the window taking in the sights. 'Yup, definitely not on Earthland anymore.' Barely here, wherever here is and she's already in trouble! She looks at Jiji and wonders if she can fully trust him. Everything about him, except his height, reminds her of Master Makarov. Her gut is telling her she can. "They said they were going to auction me off."

Modoshi's face turns stern. Should he tell her? Well, it's only right she knows the full story and he does need her to trust him. "There's an underground sex trafficking ring my men and I have been working on getting rid of. Those three you fought, must have been a few of the foot soldiers they send out to kidnap women and children."

Lucy gasps, "That's horrible!" Women being kidnapped to be sold off isn't anything new to her since that almost happened to her before Natsu saved her. Children being kidnapped isn't new either since a lot were taken to the Tower of Heaven to be slaves. But a sex trafficking ring that involves children!

"Indeed, it is." He makes a phone call to his men to inform them that the men they took are part of the sex trafficking ring, all of them assumed as much, but they needed to be sure before they disposed of them.

"Are you an authority figure?"

Modoshi chuckles, "No, far from it."

Lucy thinks about all the things that the magic council neglected to do, and it ended up Fairy Tail taking care of the problems. Is it the same here? "Is it safe to assume that the authorities here don't do much to put a stop to these crimes?"

"The heroes do what they can but sometimes it's not enough. So, my group gets involved in helping others even though it's illegal for us to do so. We can't sit idly by and do nothing."

Nodding her head Lucy responds, "I can understand that. So, where am I at?"

Modoshi looks at her questioningly, "Japan. Where are you from?"

Nervously, Lucy answers his question, "Oh, I'm from far away."

"I gathered as much." He hums in thought. Why is she reluctant to tell him where she's from? "Where's your adoptive brother?"

"Ummm…" Lucy looks down at her hands on her lap, "He's not around… I'm by myself."

"No other family?"

Tears well up in Lucy's eyes and she shakes her head no. The car ride turns silent except for her cries over being alone, being hurt physically and emotionally, and having to be reliant on a stranger whom she wants to trust. When they pull up to an ordinary building, she gathers her composure. To be safe, she thinks of a plan to get out of there just in case.

'That's all you can do for now.' Loke's voice echoes in her head. He and his fellow spirits have remained quiet as they absorb the little information they were given.

Modoshi would much rather go through the tunnels, but Lucy isn't in any condition to be climbing ladders and walking a long distance. He helps her out of the car and up the pathway to his friend's home.

A short stout woman, who must be Ms. Yamamoto, is already at the door urging them in, "Haitte kudasai, haitte kudasai (Come in, come in)."

It's a slow trek to the room Lucy, who is in a lot of pain now that the adrenaline has worn off, is ushered to that has all sorts of instruments. She can't make out a lot of them but a couple she recognizes because of Porlyusica. She's curious as to what they're all for. Don't they have anyone with a healing quirk?

She is directed to a bed with drawers on each side and the front. Also, at the front is something on the bottom that Ms. Yamamoto pulls out. It works as a stool to help her get on the bed. With help, she gets on it and quietly waits while the other converse in Japanese. The woman looks her over and then pulls out a few needles then speaks in English.

"I'm going to numb the areas around your wounds. You'll feel a little pinch." Once she's done, Ms. Yamamoto looks at the ice embedded in Lucy's thigh from all angles. "I'm going to take care of this larger wound first. Thankfully it didn't melt too much on the way here." She points at a random man, "You, get over here. I need you to pull this chunk of ice out of her leg when I tell you to." Looking back at Lucy she says to her softly, "This is going to hurt dear."

Not wanting to see the damage done to her thigh, Lucy turns her head away and winces when the ice is pulled out. Despite being injected with something to numb the area it still hurts, and she can feel her warm blood go down her thigh. She hears something dripping onto the floor and realizes it must be her blood.

Before too much blood can rush out, Ms. Yamamoto quickly packs it with gauze. "I'm sorry, I don't have anything stronger or at least something to knock you out. I ran out. Speaking of which old man, I need my supplies replenished."

"I-It's okay." Lucy breathes in and out, trying her best not to scream. She didn't realize how spoiled she and the rest of Fairy Tail are to have Wendy heal them making the process much less painful.

Modoshi rests a hand on Lucy's shoulder, "You're one tough woman." Directing his attention to Ms. Yamamoto, "I'll do what I can old woman."

"This isn't the first time I've gotten injured really bad." Lucy grits out as the woman stitches her wound. That's going to leave a nice scar. It's not her first one. Even though Wendy can get rid of scars when healing, Lucy chose to keep a few as reminders.

Ms. Yamamoto gets a good look at Lucy checking out her old scars, "I can see that." She also realizes the girl's lack of clothing on her body and estimates her size. "Old man, send one of your men to get her new clothing and make sure it's something decent." After she gives them her sizes, she introduces herself to Lucy. "I'm Ms. Yamamoto by the way."

Lucy blushes at the comment about the lack of clothing on her body and also chuckles when Jiji grumbles, "You're the same age as me." She stops chuckling and replies, "It's a pleasure to meet you Ms. Yamamoto. I'm Lucy."

"Even being in this condition, you manage to be polite. You make these men look like big babies."

Lucy listens to them argue in Japanese as she lies back, closes her eyes, and communicates with her spirits. They inform her that they have been thrown into a different spirit world. To their knowledge, nothing like this has happened before. Lucy asks what it is like, and they fill her in that they are in a beautiful grassy clearing with a pond and a garden with different kinds of flowers surrounded by a forest.

Virgo trekked through the forest and found herself in a room with all sorts of torture instruments as well as other things Virgo loved. She told the others about it and when they went back it wasn't there. Loke walked through the forest in a different area, and he ended up in a club full of beautiful women. The others couldn't see that either and they concluded that wherever each spirit went by themselves, they ended up where what they could consider their own personal heaven.

'Since Crux's is a huge library, he'll be spending his time there searching for any answers.' Capricorn says to her through their link.

Lucy is so involved in her conversation with the old lady that it takes her a while to get Lucy's attention. "Huh? I'm sorry, what was that?" She notices that the only ones left in the room are her, Ms. Yamamoto, and Jiji.

"I asked where you're from, I can't place the accent."

"Oh, I'm a uh," Lucy begins to rub the back of her neck nervously, "from a little town named Magnolia."

"You're not from around here then, there's no Magnolia's in Japan. Which country are you from? Why are you in Japan?"

"I… umm… I don't remember."

Ms. Yamamoto shines a bright light in Lucy's eyes, "Hold still I got to check you over for a concussion. So what do you remember?"

"I, I remember a man using his mag-," Lucy clears her throat, "quirk to send me here." And Ivan, that bastard. She doesn't miss the look between Jiji and Ms. Yamamoto, no doubt curious about her slip-up. She knows that look, it's the look they know she's not being completely honest, and they're going to try and get more answers out of her.

"Do you happen to know why and why here?"

Lucy shakes her head, "No ma'am."

The old lady pats her shoulder, "Please, Ms. Yamamoto is fine. Well, you're all fixed up. We're going to take you to a room to rest in and I'll be checking on you periodically."

In other words, making sure she doesn't run away. It's not like Lucy has any place to go. "Thank you, Ms. Yamamoto. You too Jiji."

"It's no problem, Lucy. I'll stop by in the morning to check on you." He tells her before walking out. His gut instincts are kicking in again. They're now telling him that he's going to have to keep an even closer eye on her. There's nothing malicious about her, but she's hiding something. Ms. Yamamoto's quirk will help find out what.

Lucy has been at Ms. Yamamoto's for a few months now. She had insisted that even after Lucy was healed, she should stay there since she had nowhere else to go. Lucy couldn't argue, since she was alone in a foreign country. She's been bedridden with nothing to do. She doesn't remember the last time she had to have her body heal on its own without the help of Wendy. Lucy asked Ms. Yamamoto if there was any possible way she could get books to not only learn Japanese, but the country itself and its culture and history. The old lady went as far as buying her a phone and laptop as well as enough clothes to get by and personal hygiene products. Lucy told her it was too much, and she simply replied to let an old lady help a young lady in need.

Ms. Yamamoto had a couple of reasons for keeping Lucy there. For starters, she promised Maki she would attempt to get more answers from the girl. When she looked Lucy over, she showed no signs of a concussion, yet the girl still didn't have any answers for them. She and Maki discussed which country she could be from, and they thought America, but it didn't seem right to them. Maki had joked she could be from another world, and he wasn't expecting her to take him seriously. She argued that it's quite possible. There's a teacher at U.A. that can send people into a black hole. Was it really out of the realm of possibility that someone can move between worlds and send people to them? He wasn't able to argue with her about that. Ms. Yamamoto also told him it would make sense as to why Lucy had no idea how to use the phone or computer she got for her. She didn't even know what the internet was.

Using her quirk, Ms. Yamamoto caught all of Lucy's emotions and intentions with her quirk. Ms. Yamamoto can read one's emotions and intentions accurately and learned that Lucy had no intention of being an enemy. Lucy was a scared, nervous, sad, and curious girl who was also sweet, kind, and caring. When she was able to get around better, she helped out around the house cleaning, preparing meals, and doing anything she was capable of doing.

She enjoyed having Lucy around. She never had any children of her own and never realized how lonely she was. She took Lucy under her wing and taught her about Japan, heroes, villains, government branches, customs, cultures, and many other things. When she learned Lucy loved learning new things through books, she took her to the local library and while they were out she paid for Lucy to get a whole new wardrobe. It took a lot of twisting of her arm to get her to agree.

Lucy knew Ms. Yamamoto planned on having her there until she got her full story. She answered questions to the best of her ability without revealing that she was not from Earth. It was getting harder and harder though. Like the day Ms. Yamamoto got her a cell phone and computer. The phone looked similar to the mini communication Lacrima that Warren had invented, the difference being that the phone on Earth had access to all sorts of information. The same went for the computer, which was a bit similar to Hibiki's archive magic. However, she didn't know how to work either and Ms. Yamamoto had to show her along with explaining what the internet was. She got a look of curiosity and skepticism from the old lady.

Levy and Freed would absolutely love computers and the internet. So much information at the touch of a button. Though Lucy will always love the crisp scent of a book.

She used the phone to stay updated on current news and contact Ms. Yamamoto and Jiji. She used the computer for research on magic and the possibility of jumping in between worlds since the trips to the library didn't give her the answers to the questions she had. She got a few results of people who have that type of quirk, but you had to pay to access that information. She huffed in frustration and continued searching. There was no way she was going to ask Ms. Yamamoto to lend her the money. The woman had already done enough for her buying the phone, and computer, housing her, and spending extra money on clothes, food, and anything else needed. Not to mention, what she was searching for would have been suspicious. However, what Lucy didn't know was that the old lady was keeping track of her activity on the computer and phone.

While out and about she got to see a hero in action. His name was All Might, and it was so uncanny that he sounded like Elfman, almost built like him too. Many citizens were either scattered around the TVs in the front of the stores watching the action or had their faces buried in their phones. She overheard a kid with wild bushy blond hair boasting about how they were going to go to attend U.A. and become a better hero than All Might.

She found it ridiculous that a hero license was needed to fight the bad guys. On Earthland you could pop into a guild, ask to join, and begin taking jobs that would gain you experience for even harder tasks. Well, that's how it was for Fairy Tail. She doesn't know if the others work the same way. There was no going to school to learn how to be a mage. One either trained on their own or with others. They also helped each other deal with the aftermath of taking down criminals, mainly the horrific ones.

She was in the living room with Ms. Yamamoto one night watching the news. One report was about a man who was finally arrested for using his quirk to his advantage to sexually assault women. That was just sickening. That never happened on Earthland, that she knew of anyway. Never say never, as the saying goes. She herself was kidnapped to be sold off in Bosco until Natsu saved her.

Natsu…

When she wasn't busy soaking in all the information of the new world she was in, her thoughts would drift to him and the rest of Fairy Tail. Mainly Natsu. The look of hate and disgust in his eyes, the venomous words that flowed so easily from his mouth. She knew that it wasn't him, that it was a spell cast upon him and the others, but damn did it break her heart. That was the last she heard and saw of her family and the man she was in love with. At least, she thinks she is. She never really had a chance to sort out her feelings. She knows she really likes him, enough to want a relationship. She never got a chance to talk to him about it. If she were being honest, part of her was afraid that there were still lingering feelings for Lisanna buried deep in him. She knows that something was brewing between the two before Lisanna… Lucy scolded herself because it was not the time to be thinking about her love life.

There were times she would get angry over the unfairness of it all and needed something to beat up to unleash her anger. Ms. Yamamoto, the observant woman she was due to her quirk that Lucy still had no knowledge of, took her to a dojo to learn martial arts and self-defense. It helped a lot. She was able to focus her mind elsewhere when she was feeling that way and also learned new fighting techniques in the process. Some of it was similar to what she learned from Bickslow and Laxus.

It was good for her to be able to better defend herself. At first, when Lucy arrived on earth there seemed to be little ethernano and it took longer for her ethernano container to fill. The longer she's on earth the more it got back to normal. Considering how flashy using star dress is, she stuck with summoning her spirits abilities.

She and her spirits talked a lot through their link. They all decided that she shouldn't summon them unless the situation was dire. They tested out if Loke, Virgo, and Aquarius could still pop out on their own and it was a success. They learned that Capricorn can as well.

At this point in time, Grandpa Crux hadn't been able to find any useful information and still had a lot of books to look through. It would go by quicker if Grandpa Crux wasn't the only one to have access to the library. He had, however, documented information along the way for future knowledge should anything like this happen again whether to Lucy or future key owners.

Lucy had lied to Ms. Yamamoto when she asked her what her quirk was. She wasn't comfortable talking about it with a stranger when in reality she didn't know how to answer that. Her spirits threw out some suggestions, but Lucy didn't want to go with anything too flashy that would draw attention to her. She alone got enough attention as it was, being a gaijin which she learned is Japanese for foreigner. A less-than-savory character sneered it at her once before. Ms. Yamamoto filled her in that some people use it as a racist slur and ignore it. Lucy didn't take any offense to it; nothing could hurt her worse than her spellbound friends calling her worthless and saying that she shouldn't be a Fairy Tail mage.

Even though Lucy wasn't in any danger in the old lady's care, she needed to figure out what her "quirk" was. She and her spirits went through all of her star dress abilities while Ms. Yamamoto was out and came to the conclusion that the three least flashy ones were Capricorn's, Taurus's, and Gemini's. She wanted to use Leo's, but her hands and feet were still enveloped by Regulus's light. Virgo's earth magic was considered but there were pipelines, underground tunnels, and other things she would need to avoid. Not to mention the drilling noise would draw attention.

When it came to Gemini, they needed to figure out which copy of her guild members to use. By some miracle, Gemini had everyone they'd copied under Lucy's contract and were successful when they attempted to transform into the chosen guild member, even Laxus. All of them assumed that on Earth, the difference between magic power made no difference. It was comforting to know she had an array of her friend's abilities in her arsenal. It was like, in a way, they were still with her.

Now they had to go through all of her friend's abilities and narrow it down to the least flashy ones. There was Cobra's Hearing Magic, which would help immensely. She was able to use it somewhat before but here, there being so many more people in the vicinity, she got flooded with the sounds of the massive number of souls and had to quickly stop using it. It was something she was going to have to practice more. Gajeel's (Rogue's) shadows will be perfect for hiding and getting away from a situation quickly.

It was decided that the quirk she would be telling everyone she had was shadows. Behind the scenes, she would practice listening to the souls around her while traveling through the shadows once she had a better handle on Cobra's ability. When she needed the extra strength boost or speed, she would use Taurus's or Capricorn's abilities. Also, there was her Fleuve D'toiles that would be her "support" item. As far as all of the other abilities of her spirits and those Gemini's copied, she would have to use them when the situation is dire.

She could relax a tad bit now that she had that figured out.

Jiji didn't only check on her the following morning he saved her, but he would come to visit here and there to check on her and see how she was doing. She had asked him what happened to the men that attacked her, all he said was that they were taken care of. Lucy didn't need to listen to his soul to know how they were taken care of.

One day while she was in her room practicing listening to souls without getting overwhelmed Jiji had come over to talk with Ms. Yamamoto and she caught the word yakuza as well as a thought of taking down a sex trafficking ring flit through his mind. Since Lucy now had free reign to come and go as she pleased, she went out to the library to research yakuza. While practicing Cobra's magic she caught in the old lady's soul that she had been keeping an eye on Lucy's internet activity.

What she found regarding a yakuza was quite interesting. A yakuza, otherwise known as a Japanese criminal organization. They obviously weren't heroes but weren't villains either. They worked in the grey area. However, after reading some news articles, she supposed that like guilds, it depended on the group.

She never caught the name of the yakuza that Jiji is the head of, but she had heard that he wanted to make some changes and have it become a more honorable group.

In her search she learned the hierarchy. The leader is the Oyabun, boss, literally meaning parent status. The followers are known as Kobun, proteges or apprentices, literally meaning child status. Wakagashira is the first Lieutenant, second in command. The Shateigashira is the second lieutenant, third in command. Kyodai are the big brothers, senior members of the group. Shatei are the little brothers, junior members of the group.

She also found information about a code of conduct and moral obligations that distinguish it from organized crime groups in other parts of the world.

Yakuza Code of Conduct (Ninkyo): The Yakuza often adheres to a code of conduct known as "Ninkyo", emphasizing chivalry, loyalty, and honor. While engaged in illegal activities, they may maintain a sense of duty and obligation toward their community and members.

Family and Loyalty (Kumi): Yakuza members are organized into families or clans known as "Kumi". Loyalty to the family is paramount, and members are expected to prioritize the interests of the group over personal gain. Betrayal is considered a severe offense. Should they betray the Yakuza they will go through what is known as Yubitsume, the ritual of cutting off a finger to show remorse or as an apology.

Personal Honor (Giri): The concept of "Giri" is about fulfilling one's duty and obligations, even if it involves personal sacrifice. Yakuza members may feel a strong sense of duty towards their superiors, peers, and the organization as a whole.

Dispute Resolution (Sokaiya): The Yakuza often engages in informal dispute resolution within their community. They may mediate conflicts and maintain order, aiming to avoid unnecessary violence and upheaval.

Avoidance of Certain Crimes: While involved in illegal activities such as gambling and protection rackets, the Yakuza traditionally avoids certain crimes, such as kidnapping and crimes against women and children.

Public Image: The Yakuza have been known to uphold a certain public image, often portraying themselves as protectors of the community. This involves engaging in charitable activities, contributing to local events, and in some cases, helping during natural disasters.

Comparatively, organized crime groups outside of Japan may not emphasize the same code of conduct and moral obligations. Many criminal organizations in other regions operate with a more ruthless and profit-driven mentality, with less emphasis on traditional values like honor and loyalty. Additionally, the Yakuza's integration into Japanese society and its historical roots contribute to its unique set of moral guidelines.

She sat back and soaked all of that in. It almost, keyword, almost reminded her of a guild, and she couldn't help but compare the two.

In many ways a guild and a yakuza are similar. They're both an organized family, loyal to one another and do what they can to help and protect their community. A difference is that should anyone in the yakuza betray them will have their little finger cut off with a sword. Thankfully that practice has declined. In guilds, members get booted out. Though in the case of a dark guild... she doesn't want to know.

The guild fulfills what's required of them by accepting missions from the request board. Some of them even put their lives on the line. Like a yakuza, they too feel a strong sense of duty towards their superiors, peers, and the guild as a whole. Unlike the yakuza, guilds can't avoid unnecessary violence trying to mediate conflicts to maintain order, more specifically Fairy Tail. They can't even keep unnecessary violence inside the guild to a minimum.

Unless it is a dark guild, guilds don't participate in any illegal activities. Well, unless you count gambling but on Earthland it's legal. They're not criminals, well the former magic council would argue when it comes to Fairy Tail. Guilds don't kill unless it is inevitable. Lucy never has killed anyone, thank goodness, she doesn't know how she would feel if she did even if it were someone who hurt women and children.

Why is a yakuza taking down the sex trafficking ring and not the heroes? Sounds like Fairy Tail taking care of the dark guilds the former magic council neglected to take care of.

With Fairy Tail on her mind, she wondered if they'd had any luck figuring out what happened to her. She shook her head, if they did, they would have shown up by now causing mayhem searching for her.

She could picture them going through every possible way to find her. She has faith in them to not give up and hoped they had faith in her to not give up either.

She explored every avenue she could. She was too worried about the inhabitants of that world finding out who and what she was. Call it a gut instinct but she felt unlike Earthland where people would kidnap her for her magic, here worse things would happen. She needs to confide in someone though.

It's been about nine months now and she almost has Cobra's hearing magic down. Some of the things she'd heard had made her vomit. What she wouldn't give to be able to help those poor souls. She's been back and forth on confiding in Jiji and Ms. Yamamoto. They're the only company she has other than a few regulars at the library. Her acquaintances at the library tried being her friend and offered to hang out sometime but she politely declined each time. She didn't want to get close to anyone else. Not only would she have to hide the truth from them but it would hurt to leave them behind just like it would leaving Jiji and Ms. Yamamoto.

At the moment her and Jiji are on Ms. Yamamoto's patio playing Shogi. She's always been a big fan of chess, so she took to the game right away which left him impressed. No, she does not cheat and use soul-hearing. Despite learning about a Yakuza, Lucy doesn't let it deter her from declining Jiji's company. Not to mention she's heard in his and Ms. Yamamoto's souls that they know something is different about her and have a theory she's from another world, but don't have much evidence to prove it. If that's the case they would like to help her, but they can't do that until she trusts them. First, they're going to learn that they can trust her.

As Lucy debates on her move she asks, "So, what is it like being an Oyabun in a yakuza?"

Jiji looks up at her shocked. "How do you know that?"

Lucy makes her move on the board, "If you want me to trust you, you got to trust me as well. I know you're an Oyabun of a yakuza because of one of the abilities I have."

"You have more than one quirk?"

Sitting back with her arms crossed she replies, "Something like that."

Jiji sits back in his chair and stares her down. How did she figure it out? Yamamoto wouldn't have said anything. Both of them made sure they didn't say or do anything to reveal that. The last thing they wanted was for her to get mixed up with it.

"You'd be surprised the number of times I've stumbled into trouble. But you're not necessarily trouble are you? Not the Yakuza you lead anyway. Though there are a few who lack a code of conduct."

"I'm going to ask you again, how you know that?"

Lucy meets his eyes with her own. "I heard the word Yakuza in your soul so naturally I went to the library to research it since Ms. Yamamoto has been tracking my internet activity. Don't worry, I have no plans on going to the authorities and telling them about the activities you've been up to. Mainly because you're the ones that are searching for those women and children that have gone missing. As for having more than one quirk, technically speaking I don't have any quirks."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Let's get Ms. Yamamoto so I can tell both of you together."

They settle in the living room and Lucy informs them they were dead on with their theory. She starts from the beginning, telling them everything about her life up to when she arrived on Earth. She also explains that the pink tattoo is not a tattoo but the guild's emblem.

"You're from a world with magic and you can summon creatures from a different realm?"

"They're not creatures, they're my friends."

Virgo suddenly appears, "Some of us can come out on our own." She hands both Jiji and Ms. Yamamoto a book.

"The Adventures of Iris by Lucy Heartfilia." They say at the same time.

"It's a story my princess wrote based on true events. You'll see on the inside the publisher, copyright date, etc…"

They flip to the page with the information of the publisher and copyright date x793.

"I'm not sure how much that will help but thank you Virgo."

"Of course. Punishment?"

"No Virgo, no punishment." Great, they're going to think she's a sadist or something. "I'll keep your secret so long as you keep mine."

"We will." Ms. Yamamoto says. This girl would be experimented on or worse should anyone learn of her secret.

"What other quirks do you have?"

"Technically, I don't have quirks, I have magical abilities. I can do everything my spirits can and because of Gemini, I can access my friend's abilities. I mainly use Taurus's strength, along with my friends Gajeel's and Cobra's abilities. Gajeel is an Iron Shadow Dragon Slayer. I use the shadow part to travel discreetly, and Cobra can hear souls. You know what that does."

Jiji nods, "So, this whole time you've known that I'm the Oyabun of the Shie Hassaikai, also known as the Eight Precepts of Death?"

Lucy shakes her head, "I never knew the name of your yakuza. Using Cobra's hearing magic can be difficult to use especially here since Japan is more populated, a lot more populated. I've got to really concentrate to not get overwhelmed by all of the souls." Lucy patiently waits for them to absorb all of the information thrown their way. Since their thoughts are all over the place she stops listening to their souls. She's surprised by what comes out of Jiji's mouth.

"I don't normally ask outsiders for help, but we've been having trouble tracking the women and children along with those responsible for their disappearances. We are also having trouble tracking those higher up the chain. Every time we're close something happens, and we lose them. We could really use you and your abilities to take the bastards down and save those victims."

"What exactly would you have me do?"

"Just keep an eye on them and relay information to me. No one in the yakuza will know it's you that's helping us."

"Old man, is it wise to get her mixed up in this?"

"I'll do it," Lucy says. "I've been in way more dangerous situations and all I'll be doing is keeping a low profile spying on them. That won't be hard."

I realized that in previous chapters, I neglected to put Maki Modoshi in the traditional garb of a Yakuza Boss. So, I fixed that here. One can assume he wears that from here on out unless I write in the story otherwise.
