Hello everyone, here is another one shot, this time from Mute

This is Luffy finding out about Ace being mute

This was a request

Hope you enjoy

Read and relax

Ace had just helped Luffy in Alabasta, and Luffy was currently rambling about his crew and how amazing they were and how much fun he had had. He rambled the entire way to his boat, which Ace hadn't seen yet, and was curious about it. But as they got on it, Luffy looked at him. "But anyhow, how are you?" Ace opened his mouth, before he closed it with a silent sigh. Luffy still didn't know he was mute. "Ace?" Asked Luffy as he tilted his head. Ace needed to think. So after a second, he snapped his fingers and it showed a piece of paper and pen with his powers, and Luffy nodded confused. "Okay, I can get that." Luffy then ran a bit around, getting some help from his crew to find a piece of paper and a pen.

When it was handed to him, Ace wrote; I can't talk. Luffy frowned at it. "Why not? Did someone jinx you? In that case, you're free when I say your name; Ace!" Ace sighed a silent sigh again, before he wrote. It's complicated. Luffy frowned again. "What's complicated?" Ace sighed another silent sigh, it was probably easier to show. He had taken on his scarf again when he saw Luffy, not wanting to show the scars. He still had the tattoo of his family over them, but they could still be seen. He had a voice inside him that said to not show, and he should probably listen to it, but he didn't. He needed to tell Luffy. No matter what his brain said. He was having a small internal crisis, not knowing how Luffy would react to this, and hoped it wasn't a mistake showing.

As he took the scarf off, he stretched his neck a bit, so they were more visible. It had Luffy frown, before he looked horrified. "What happened?!" Ace sighed again, still no sound, before he grabbed the piece of paper. He should be honest to Luffy. Someone slit my throat. Luffy frowned. "Why? What happened?!" Ace grabbed the paper again. They got the wrong man and wanted me dead. But I survived. Luffy nodded slowly. "I'm glad you did. But I don't get why. Why would someone do that to you?" Ace sighed. Because, some people are just mean. Luffy nodded, looking bothered and upset, which he got. Luffy then made a motion to one of his crewmates. "Could- could Chopper check you? He's a good doctor." Ace nodded, that could probably help Luffy understand this.

The doctor, Chopper, a tanuki he said, then checked him. "How long ago?" Ace hummed a silent hum, before he wrote on his paper. About 2 years now. Chopper nodded. "I see. And you can't make any sound?" Ace shook his head a bit. No, but someone with hypersensitive hearing once heard me. Chopper nodded. "Okay, so there is something that works. I- I might know someone who could help you." Ace blinked. What? He wrote that down, and Chopper nodded. "A woman I met years ago, she specializes in lungs and everything connected, even the throat. Something still works, but I don't know for sure. Should I write it down? Where she lives and such?" Ace quickly nodded, he wanted that, he wanted to try. Chopper then wrote it down, and Ace took the note and put it in his pocket. He would show it to Marco and ask if they could head there.

They then walked out on deck again, where Luffy was waiting. And when they got out, he was instantly in front of them. "Now?! Can you fix it?!" Chopper shook his head. "N-no. It's too severe. His vocal cords are badly damaged. I'm sorry, Luffy." Luffy's face fell with that, before he looked at him. "I'm sorry Ace." Ace shook his head and brought his paper out. No, it's fine. I'm okay with it. He wasn't okay with it, not even close, but he wouldn't tell that to Luffy. He was growing more used to it each day. The fact most of the Whitebeards had learned sign language for him meant a lot, and a couple learned how to read lips, like Marco. Luffy puffed his cheeks. "I'm not! You can't talk!" Ace nodded as he grabbed his paper. I know, but it's fine. Really. Luffy still looked upset. "But you can't talk. How- I mean, I heard you joined a crew. What about them? Do they know?" Ace nodded. They learned sign language. Luffy frowned. "What is that?" Ace gave a silent chuckle, of course Luffy wouldn't know. It's when you speak with your hands. You make signs with your hands and can speak that way. Luffy blinked. "So cool! You know that?!" Ace nodded, which had Luffy more excited. "I will learn it! So we can speak! I will find someone who knows it!" Ace chuckled a silent chuckle again. You do that. And we'll meet again one day. Luffy nodded. "Yes! And we can talk then! I will learn this!" Ace was glad Luffy would. He knew Luffy would hate that he was mute and be sad, but he seemed to be in an okay spirit now.

He then gave a hug to Luffy, sharing a few more words, before he left, heading back to the Moby. He really hoped what Chopper had said was true and someone could fix this.

And that's the one shot, hope you enjoyed
