UNDER THE HOPE VALLEY MOON
Author's Note: Undeniably, many of us have been inspired by the theme of stars and moonlight in When Calls the Heart. We have seen many videos and read a few fanfics based on the moonlit porch visits and kisses between Nathan and Elizabeth. Since I believe there's space for everyone's point of view and creative spin on this subject, would you indulge me with this microfic inspired by the last scene of S12 E1?
We can all agree Nathan and Elizabeth's love is one for the ages. It is indeed written in the stars. But to this scribe over here, it was also sealed by the moon. Recent significant moments have happened under the light of the Hope Valley moon— Elizabeth's confession of love, the sharing of secrets, and gestures from the heart (evident in Nathan's gift of the shadowbox for Jack's medal.) And of course... many kisses that still have us swooning and probably will continue to make us swoon into perpetuity!
The following minifanfic is based on this final scene, and it's from Nathan's POV— because, well, that's what I like to write best!
I get to hold her. I get to hug her. I get to kiss her! Never in my wildest of dreams did I ever think we'd be here. But indeed, here we are. And she smiles. She smiles into my eyes, and my heart feels so many things. So many feelings that I can't put into words. But I can show her. I can show her how blessed I am for trusting me with her heart. With every gentle touch and soft caress, I want her to feel that she's the very center of my universe.
I'd give her the moon if I could. But deep down, I know she doesn't want that. What I can give her is moments to remember. Loving, romantic moments under a Hope Valley full moon. And kisses. So many kisses where I can pour what the heart feels but cannot say.
I hope I get to tell her soon. That it's not enough. That my love for her runs deep, and with it, a flourishing desire the likes I've never felt before. I long for the moment we sink into each other's arms and let love run free. But I can wait. After all, when a love is written in the stars, you know forever is where you'll be.
