Whitebeard sat out on deck, enjoying a good day, when Thatch blinked. "Someone is coming." Thatch had gotten a lot better with his powers and now felt when someone was coming as he felt a presence heading to them, but Ace could notice it way earlier, same with Trevor, but after all, they were much more adept in their powers. And then, Whitebeard blinked, as on his deck, now stood none other than his late rival, Gol D Roger.
Whitebeard felt shocked, before he got it. Roger must have managed to escape Hell it looked like. He was about to speak, when Ace did, coming from around a corner. "No! I've told you no!" Roger looked at Ace. "Please let me just meet them! Get to know them! And you!" Ace rolled his eyes. "And I've said never!" Roger moved his hand a bit. "You said never in a hundred years! It's been a hundred!" Ace moved a hand to his face. "Never in a million then! I will never allow you into my life!" Roger was on his way to speak, when Ace took a step and was gone, which had Roger sigh, moving a hand to his face as he seemed upset, which Whitebeard hadn't seen him be before.
Whitebeard felt confused and spoke, deciding to not question people being alive or dead anymore. "Roger, what was that?" Roger gave a breath, looking at him. "You know, you make it seem so easy to have children, but it is just Hell. How do I make him listen to me? I just want to get to know him, be a part of his life!" Whitebeard felt more confused, before it suddenly might make sense. "Are you his-" Roger cut him off, a hand on his face. "Yes, I am that boy's father and he is ignoring and avoiding me. I thought he needed space, but not even a hundred years have been enough." Trevor hummed. "From what he has told, you deserve it all. I don't think you know how much he loved his mother. And you let her die." Whitebeard felt shocked. "You let his mother die? Wait… I thought she was dead?" He thought Ace had said that.
Roger gave a breath. "I couldn't… it was her wish." Trevor blinked. "Then why do you keep her from him? Give her her memory back!" Whitebeard felt more confused. "Give her her memory back?" Trevor hummed. "When you die after already being dead, you lose most of your memory. You can get it back, but need a specific trigger for it, and I know you have it, Ace knows you have it, and you refuse to give it to her." Roger sighed. "I can't. Rouge doesn't want it…" Rouge? Then it made sense again, as Ace's name was Portgas D Ace, and he knew Roger had been with a Portgas D Rouge.
Trevor moved his hand. "Then tell him why! You will never see him or his 3 children if you continue like this!" Roger looked shocked. "3… it was 2… last time…" Trevor hummed. "Well, now it is 3. He got another one. And unless you come clean and explain why you're refusing to give him his mother back, why you didn't help when he died, you will never see them." Roger gave a breath. "It would hurt him. Hurt her." Trevor hummed. "Then tell that to Ace! Tell him why! Explain it!" Roger looked at Trevor with a small glare. "I can't!" Trevor crossed his arms. "Then too bad, you will never get into his life then." Roger looked upset with that, before he gave a breath and left, taking a step and being gone as he spirit-walked away.
As he was gone, Thatch looked at Trevor. "What the fuck! Roger is Ace's father!" Trevor blinked, before he shrugged. "So what?" Thatch moved his hands. "So what? So what?! That is huge! Oh my God! Is that why he was executed so young!?" Trevor nodded. "It is. They didn't want a child of his to live. So yes. But they don't know you just got reborn again, as a soul like we are. Ace is mad at him, which I get. It's not my place to say everything Ace has told me, but I get why Ace is mad at him." Whitebeard didn't know what to think of this. Roger wanted to get to know Ace, but it was clear Ace didn't want that.
Whitebeard looked at Trevor. "What was that about getting Ace's mother's memory back?" Trevor hummed. "If you die again after already being dead, you lose all your memory, or almost all of it. That is why Jon wanted to kill Ace again, so he could start anew. Brainwash him again. But Ace told me his father knows how to make his mother get her memory back, but he refuses to just do it." Whitebeard blinked, and now he felt more with Ace. That was horrible. Roger apparently was keeping Ace's mother, Rouge, from him.
It was some minutes later that Ace appeared again and looked at him. "He gone?" Whitebeard nodded, going to speak but Ace spoke first. "Thank lord he is gone." Whitebeard looked at Ace. "Why are you so mad at him?" Ace rolled his eyes. "You mean beside the fact he didn't mind me getting executed? Or that he let my mom get executed, and refuses to give her her memory back? Yeah, I wonder why I am mad at him. And before you ask,I will not let him into my life. If I do, maybe he will get me executed again or one of my children, and I will not have that happen." That Whitebeard got, Ace was a good father, he cared for his children.
It was a bit later that Ace left again to do something on an island close by. When he was gone, Whitebeard looked at Trevor. "Is it possible for me to speak with Roger?" Trevor hummed. "Maybe. I have an idea where he is. Want me to bring him here?" Whitebeard nodded, which had Trevor spirit walk, before he came back some minutes later, Roger being with him, the later looking at him. "What?" Whitebeard hummed. "I have an idea how to mend your and Ace's relationship." Roger blinked. "How! I need to do that!" Whitebeard looked at Roger. "Okay. Tell me what he is mad about. Why is he refusing even talking to you and I can help find a solution. I do have a lot of experience after all." Roger looked like he wanted to say no, before he sighed. "Fine." He then moved to sit down on deck. "First of all, I knew they would kill him. That they would execute him, they found out I am his father. And I… I didn't stop it. I probably could have, but I didn't. You know, I wanted him to go to Heaven, but then he went to Hell… I didn't mean for that. Really. But later then, when he found me, he asked me why as he saw me just before he got executed, and I just told him why. He was so mad, but I didn't get it."
Roger gave a breath. "At first, Rouge helped him get more powerful, but then… she found out what I did, that I let him get executed, before she found out some other secrets too, she didn't go into details about those, but said she didn't want to know them. It was painful, and her knowing put everyone in danger. So she… asked me to kill her. And I did. The look she had, the pleading look… I created a lock on her memory, and only I have the key. She will never be able to recover her memory unless I allow it. I just, I never intended for all of this to happen. Ace was supposed to go to Heaven… I don't get why he went to Hell right away."
Trevor rolled his eyes. "Because he is gay you moron!" Roger blinked, looking at Trevor. "What?! But he has tw- three children!" Trevor hummed. "A long story. Which is Ace's to tell, not mine." Thatch spoke. "Question, why didn't I go to Hell then?" He asked, which was a good question. Trevor hummed. "I guess you've never acted on it while still alive. Ace did. He kissed someone, which apparently was enough." That made sense, and Roger looked down at the deck. "I see… So I sent him to Hell…" Trevor hummed. "But he did end up in Heaven after he ran away from Hell… from the life he had there as it was bad." Roger nodded. "I wonder… if what Rouge found out was connected to Ace, I feel it might. But I don't know for sure ."
Roger looked at him. "Do you have any ideas for me to fix this?" Whitebeard nodded. "Yes. Tell him. About everything. Just be honest with Ace. That is what you should do." Roger shook his head a bit. "But… I don't want to hurt him more." Whitebeard hummed. "What you are doing now is hurting him. You're keeping secrets from him." Roger nodded. "I guess I am hurting him by keeping secrets… I should have an open chat with him." Whitebeard nodded, as Roger should.
A bit later, Ace came back again looking satisfied, but when he saw Roger, he glared at him. "What are you doing here?" Roger moved to speak. "Please, can we have a talk? I won't lie, I won't avoid anything, just please." Ace didn't look to buy it, before he walked towards his room. "I need to think." Marco followed Ace, which might be good, and Roger looked lost. Whitebeard said to give Ace some time, for him, this was a lot, and Roger seemed to get it.

Ace moved to his room, not sure what to feel. Roger was back again, and wanted to talk to him. He didn't know what to do. Should he speak with him? It could give him some very much needed answers. He had been avoiding Roger ever since he died, when Roger had just watched him get decapitated. What kind of father did that? He heard his door open again and looked over to see Marco. Ace gave a breath. "What should I do?" Marco hummed. "I think you should speak with him, yoi. Maybe it will help, and if not, just continue ignoring him." Ace nodded a bit. "I probably should. But…" Ace sighed. "I don't know." Marco moved a hand to Ace's. "If you want to, Pops and I can join you while talking to him, yoi. Have someone who's impartial with you." Ace thought for a second, before he nodded. "I would like that." Ace said with a smile, and Marco smiled back, squeezing his hand. "I am sure it will go fine."
Ace nodded and used a couple more minutes to collect himself before they went out on deck again, Ace looking at Roger. "Okay, I can hear you out and then I will take it from there." Roger nodded, looking happy. "That is all I ask for." Ace nodded and looked at Roger. "Why did you let them kill me?" Roger sighed. "I… I thought you would go to Heaven and be happy. You knew about that world, had some powers, you would have been accepted and taken in from the poverty. I never meant for you to go to Hell." Ace shook his head a bit. "And never once did you think I didn't want to be decapitated? I can still to this day feel the blade." Roger moved nodded. "I know, I… I just wanted you to be happy. I thought that if they killed you, you could have lived off the grid. I never meant for you to go to Hell." Ace gave a breath. "I liked Hell a bit more in some ways, easier to be… me." Roger closed his eyes a bit. "I had no idea you were gay, if I did, I wouldn't have let it happen, let you go to Hell. Jon is insane. And you look so old now…" Ace sighed. "I got… put in purgatory for 100 years." Roger looked shocked. "I- I had no idea. I am sorry." Ace shook his head. "No, it's… it's not okay, but it is what it is. I met good friends there." Ace sent a look at Trevor, who tipped an imaginary hat to Ace.
Roger blinked, looking at Trevor, before back at Ace. "Is he your…" Ace shook his head. "No. But he was once. And no Trevor! I am not going to call you my boyfriend! It is sappy!" Trevor huffed. "You suck!" Ace rolled his eyes a bit, before he motioned to Marco. "I am married to Marco." Roger blinked. "Married?" Ace nodded, and he wasn't sure if he would make a deal about the fact he was married to a man, when Roger spoke shocked and upset. "I missed my only son's wedding!? No! You need to have a renewal!" Ace looked at Roger. "We will think about it. And it was my second marriage." Roger blinked. "Second?" Ace nodded. "I was married to Lori, the mother of my children." Roger nodded. "Can I… meet them? My grandbabies?" Ace looked at Roger, deciding that this was going off track. "Why won't you give mom her memory back?"
Roger opened his mouth, before he gave a sigh. "She… she got mad and upset when she found out I watched you get executed and did nothing to stop it, rightfully so. She knew you well, maybe she even knew you would go to Hell and not Heaven. She was so mad. But then…many years later, she came to me." Roger took a breath. "She begged for me to kill her, so she could forget. I tried to ask what she needed to forget, but… she never told me. She made me put up a lock and never let her remember, and I loved her. I still love her so much, so I did what she asked for. I promise, I don't know what she found out that was so bad. Might have been about you, you being in purgatory, being in Hell, being with that madman Jon. But she made me promise it. If I give it back, I am scared it will hurt her more. Hurt you. And I am done hurting you."
Ace nodded a bit. "I just… I first lost my life, and when I finally was able to roam around, I found out I lost my mom as well. I am just a stranger to her. And that… hurts." Roger nodded. "I get that. And I regret that. I regret a lot of things. But my biggest regret, is letting you get executed. If I hadn't let that happen, maybe Rouge would have been okay as well. I am… very sorry." Ace shook his head a bit. "I thought I would get it one day. But now that I have kids of my own. I could never watch them get killed. How did you manage to just stand there and watch?" Roger looked at Ace. "What if your children were being headhunted, the only way for them to be saved was for them to be killed, and you knew they would be fine, they have powers, they would be fine. I was sure you would go to Heaven, become a commander there, and… be happy." Ace blinked, before he felt he might have done the same. If it could save one of his children from living a hellish life, sure they would be fine, he might have done it. But still.
Ace looked at Roger. "How did you just stand and watch me get executed?" Roger took a breath. "Was one of the hardest things I have ever done. That and killing Rouge. But watching you die… it was so hard. And I wanted to step in, but I felt it was the only way, and I wanted to make sure you didn't suffer. That it went over fast. I am… sorry." Ace gave a breath. "I still disagree with what you did." Roger nodded, seeming to accept it, when Ace continued. "But I can maybe get it. You were sure it would make my undead life better, and maybe it did, I don't know." Roger nodded. "I don't expect forgiveness. I don't. I just… I want to know how you are. I want to get to know you and your life." Ace nodded a bit. "Maybe… maybe I am ready for that. Not forgive you, but let you into my life." Roger looked at Ace, looking hopeful. "You are?" Ace nodded. "I might be. If you wish, you can come meet my children. Your grandkids." Roger nodded fast. "I would love that." Ace nodded. "We can head there." Roger blinked. "We can just walk there. I am not as fast as you, but I can walk there if you say where." Ace shook his head. "No, I am not doing it alone." Roger nodded, accepting it.
Ace hoped this would be a new chapter for them.

Whitebeard gave a smile, glad this conversation seemed to have gone by fine, and Ace maybe even was ready to let Roger into his life. He got that Ace didn't want to forgive him, which was fine and understandable, and he was glad Roger didn't push that. Then they set sail for the island Lori and her kids were on, which they weren't that far away from too, maybe a week. He did notice Roger speaking with Ace now and then, but he never pushed it, it looked like, which was good. Roger did have some conversations with him as well, which felt nice as he had missed speaking with Roger and it was a bit like back in the day. Whitebeard had also made sure to have another chat with Ace making sure he was okay, who told him that he didn't really know how to feel, but he felt he should give Roger a chance, and Whitebeard agreed, and if he blew it, Whitebeard would always support Ace, which Ace seemed thankful for.
It was 6 days later they docked and Ace headed off first, before he came back some minutes later, standing on the dock, and a bit behind him, stood Lori and her kids, and when Roger was off the plank, Ace spoke, motioning to the standing 4 a bit behind him. "This is Lori, my ex-wife, and my children, Nelliel, Aaron, and Ylva." Roger blinked. "They are… perfect." He did notice Nelliel was in her child form, being held by Lori, looking unsure, which had Ace hum. "Nelliel, it is okay." Nelliel then looked at Lori, who nodded as well , which had Nelliel want to be put down so she could stand, which had Roger speak. "You can be held if you wish, you're tiny." Nelliel blinked, before she closed her eyes, a pink cloud enveloping her, before the wind blew it away and Nelliel stood in her real form, and Ace spoke. "Nelliel is my oldest. Aaron my middle, and Ylva my youngest." Nelliel and Aaron gave a small wave each, and Ylva just looked at him squirming a little, making baby sounds as she was still under a year.
Roger stood still, before he gave a sound. "They are so perfect." Before Roger laughed. "I got grandkids! I have 3 beautiful grandkids!" Roger then moved and grabbed Ace, hugging him. "My son gave me grandkids!" Ace looked a bit uncomfortable. "Please let go." He said, but Roger didn't, lifting Ace a bit up as he laughed. Ace suddenly was gone from his grasp and stood a bit to the side. "I said let go!" He exclaimed, swatting Roger over his head who just laughed loudly. "How can I not hug you when I have a perfect son and perfect grandkids!" Ace gave a small glare, and then Ylva made some sounds, making Ace move and get her from Lori, looking at her. "Don't be fussy, that's not fun." Ylva calmed down, and Roger walked a bit closer. "Can I… hold her? It is okay if you say no." Ace seemed to think, before he nodded and Roger got to hold his grandchild, and looked at Ylva, stroking her cheek. "She is beautiful, just like you were, and are, Ace." Ace nodded. "She is beautiful." Roger nodded, before he handed her back to Ace, who smiled at his child, making the baby giggle. Ace was a wonderful father it seemed like. Well, when he wasn't pushing them down into hollow pits that was. Whitebeard had a feeling things would go just fine.
