Later when I came home from school, I got my parent's permission to go to the movie theater with Ahmed. But when I went to my bedroom to get ready, Hexton was there as if he was looking for something.
Hexton: Where is it? Where is it? I've got to know why Neil has new ears and teeth.
Neil: That's none of your business, Hexton! Get out of my room, now! I got to get ready to go see a movie with a new friend.
After Hexton left, I closed the door and took the alchemist's book out of my backpack.
Neil: I better take care of this!
I was worried that if the book fell into the wrong hands, it could mean trouble. So, I placed the book inside my bedside cabinet and locked it in, so that no one can take it. You can never be too careful if someone wants to steal a secret you know!
That evening, I went to the movie theater. Ahmed was already there!
Neil: Hey, Ahmed! So, what movie shall we check out?
Ahmed and I looked at the movie posters next to the entrances to the auditoriums. I can tell by the look on his face that he wasn't interested in a romantic comedy.
Neil: What's the matter?
Ahmed: To be honest, Neil, I'm really not into rom-coms.
Neil: Why not? I once heard someone say that a little romance never hurt anyone.
Ahmed: I guess! But I want to see the new zombie film.
Neil: The new zombie film, it is then!
I never knew Ahmed liked monsters just like I do! But just as we were about to go into the auditorium where the new zombie film was playing in, I heard a familiar voice at the ticket window.
Tamira: I hope the new boy's there! I can watch a romantic movie with him!
Tamira! I can't let her ruin my night! If there's one thing I did not want, it was Tamira interfering with me finding out about why Ahmed refused to let Cindy ask him to the school dance.
I had to admit that the zombie film really was scary, but great! After the movie was over, Ahmed and I left the auditorium and made our way to the exit.
Ahmed: Super creepy, huh?
Neil: Sure was! By the way, Cindy told me she wanted to ask you something.
Ahmed: Cindy?
Neil: Yep! I even noticed that she had a crush on you, Ahmed. And she is excited about a school dance coming.
Ahmed: School dance? Dude, I promise you, no matter what happens, I will never ever go out with her.
Never? I couldn't believe what I heard!
Neil: What? Why not?
Ahmed didn't answer my question. Just went ahead of me, leaving me confused.
Ahmed: Us bros have got to stick together!
It was clear that Ahmed didn't return any feelings for Cindy. I just couldn't believe it, myself!
When I got home, I thought about what Ahmed said and I was worried. If I told Cindy what he told me, she would be very sad. I didn't want to hurt her feelings!
Neil: (disappointed sigh) What to do? What to do? What to do?
