January 2005, 5 weeks after conception
"You're pregnant..." Steve quietly said with smile kn hsi face looking at Laura through the reflection of the mirror as she sat on the edge of the bathtub.
She got up finally after a few seconds of shock and came to ger husband's side of the bathroom sink and looked at all three test. "Well it's pretty obvious I am if they all three say that I am." Laura then looked at Steve as he wiped away a few tears and then she felt her own.
Steve just looked at Laura with adoration as he reached over and wiped one of her tear with his thumb, "We are going to be a mommy and a daddy..." He stood with that smile still across face but suddenly reality set in. "Oh my gosh we are going to be parents!"
"Steve." Laura said softly as she could see his face with panic. She touched his arm to see if that would calm him down.
"How am I going to be a dad?" Steve began to pace back and forth from the sink to the other side of the bathroom. "I don't have any idea how to be a dad..."
Laura watched and took a deep breath with a long sigh. She finally stood in front of her husband and stopped him by grabbing his forearms and stared at him with all seriousness. Steve stared back at her. "Steve, calm down." Laura calmy told him. Steve started to clam down as he began to look in Laura's eyes with love. "You are going to be a great daddy. You love children, and children love you. Richie always looked up to you and you never gave up on 3J when you became his Big Brother and when mom and dad took him in he still looked up to you. So I think you already know how to be a dad. And you have my dad, who youbalways looked up to. But most importantly..." Laura slide her hand down, took her hands into his and moved them as she gently laid them over her stomach. Steve swallowed hard as he looked down where his hands were and then looked back up at his wife. "You have me...as much as I need you."
"You do?"Steve asked calmly but still had skepticism in his eyes.
"You bet. I am just as scared as you are." Laura responded as she smiled and nodding her head. She then was pulled into him as he held her for a long hug, and she embraced him back.
Steve leaned into her ear, "Oh Laura Lee you are going to be a wonderful mother. i just know it. Everyday I'll list evey reason while you'll be amazing if I have to." Steve then kissed her cheek. Laura felt him let go and watched in confusion but quickly turned into a look of adoration.
Steve went to his knees and placed his hands on Laura's hips and gently kissed her stomach. "Hi baby, I know in right now you can not hear me but this is your daddy. I love you already and just so you know I am going to try my hardest to be the best daddy ever." He then looked up Laura as she had the biggest smile on her face. He got up on his feet with his hands still on her hips. "How about we go back to bed Baby Mama and treat you like the queen you are?" As he wiggled his eyebrows trying to be flirtatious.
Laura chuckled and nodded her head. "That sounds amazing." She then turned them around and took his hands into hers as she led them back to their bed.
...
The next couple weeks had been interesting. First off Laura and Steve went to their family doctor to have the pregnancy confirmed and as the doctor figured out her due date was September 21st, 2003. "You know that means we conceived our little bundle of joy the night you and Max were drunk because of the Greta cheating on Eddie situation." Steve told his wife with a smile as he quickly remembered how wild Laura was that night, well he was too only because she encouraged him to be.
"Yeah and if Max figures that out she's going to tease us about it and never crash on our sofa again." Laura commented with a raised eyebrow as she gave out a slight laugh. Only Steve to agree. At the end of their appointment Laura had to wait her ninth week to see her gynecologist for her first obgyn prenatal appointment. They did decided not to tell anyone about the pregnancy until after that first appointment.
As the days went on, the morning sickness, or as for Laura all day sickness, started to hit her. In the morning, evenings, late nights, and weekends Steve was there to make sure she was okay, as he would rub her back with a drink of water and a cold washcloth. And he did try not to get sick himself.
One Saturday morning, where Laura was now seven weeks pregnant. Laura ate a light breakfast of water, peanut butter toast and a cup of yogurt, which only to seem the only thing not to make her sick. Steve had to eat his far away from his wife as the smell alone would set off her morning sickness. But after they ate, they were just cuddled up on their sofa as Laura enjoying her Saturday off between her paid internship and school. They had rented a few movies the night before and after work and having family dinner, Laura fell asleep in the car ride home. So today, since they had no plans today, they settled on watching the sappy love movies Laura was in the mood to watch. They were not Steve's favotire, Waiting to Exhale and Love and Basketball, he watched them anyways because it meant he was going to be close to his wife.
On that following Monday, Laura was just having a bad day. She woke up with horrible morning sickness where she just wish she could lay in bed all day. Steve was so worried about her that he almost called off work but Laura insisted he went as she had a class and had to work at her internship job. She was already behind schedule when she felt like she wasn't going to be sick but enough time to make it to her class. That was until Laura was half way to school, when one of her tires blew. It was not until she got a hold of Steve when she broke down in tears on the side of the road. But he calmed her down enough where he called her a tow truck and would meet her at the repair shop. His boss would understand as he would take her to her school's library to email her professor and then bring her back to the shop to pick up her car.
Laura sat there waiting for the tow truck, thankfully she had an amazing husband. But also Steve's boss was so understanding. Laura jumped at the knock on her window but as she rolled down her window, she couldn't help be but relieved she recognized a fimilar face. Even though it been years but she knew that face anywhere. "Laura Winslow is that you?" He asked.
"Well hello to you too Ted Curran!" She replied with a big smile.
