After a couple of hours of conversation about Soul when he met Maka and their missions together, Soul stood up a put his hands in his pockets. "C'mon Kairon." He said Gesturing in the the direction of the stairs with his head. "Let's head down to camp. Everyone's gunna wake up soon and they will panic if your not down there. It won't be cool having to calm em' down."

"Yeah your right." Said Kairon with a smile on his face. "After all I need to prove that I can be trusted." He continued as he stood up with his head held high. As they both walked back down the stairs that descended down the ancient building, the sun became more and more and more lively, eventually waking everyone at camp with its gentle heat. As they yawned and stretched themselves awake, Soul and Kairon came back and sat down on their beds waiting for everyone else to fully wake up before starting on breakfast.

"Morning!" Said a chirpy and cheery Patty.

Everyone seemed to shudder and twitch in pain at the volume she spoke at. An angry growl came from Kid. He then suddenly rose in fury. "NO!" He screamed at the enthusiastic Patty. "IT'S TOO EARLY!" He continued to shout, waving his watch in her face which clearly displayed 7:59 am thanks to the anti-shake feature installed by Dr. Stein. "IT'S NOT EIGHT AM YET! TIME IS NOT YET SYMMETRICAL!" Suddenly a beep came from the watch. Kid stopped waving his arm around and viewed the time display on the watch. It now clearly said that it was eight in the morning. Kid then lowered his arms and smiled. "Now it's morning." He said satisfied.

"So!" Said Maka happily which made Kid jump and look over with a dumbfounded expression on his face. "Who wants breakfast!?" Maka exclaimed joyfully to everyone.

Kid stared in shocked and then quickly calmed down. "I would love some." Kid requested happily and gratefully. Everyone shortly after agreed and tucked into some breakfast. Except for Kairon who sat quietly away from the group.

His existence was only noticed by Tsubaki who chose to sit next to him. "Thank you." She said timidly.

"Huh?" Kairon responded, curious of what Tsubaki as he wasn't listening. He had secluded himself in his own little world remaining distant and despondent to the group conversing in front of them.

"Thank you, for putting the cover back on me this morning." Said Tsubaki happily with a big smile.

Kairon felt strange upon hearing these words. He had never been thanked for something he did and wasn't sure how to respond. "Not a problem." Kairon said nervously, he was worried about saying the wrong thing. After clearing his throat Kairon continued to say, "It was only the right thing to do, it is your cover after all. Which reminds me thank you for lending me it, I'm just sorry you got cold during the night."

Tsubaki giggled and said, "It's okay, I'm used to it with all the missions I've been on to really cold places. So it's fine honestly." She finished with another friendly giggle and a smile while she tilted her head slightly. Her smile changed to a face of concern and curiosity. "I was more worried about you. I heard that you can't remember anything about yourself and you looked like you were having a nightmare. Are you okay?" She said kindly.

Kairon looked towards the ground. "Yeah, I'll be alright." He said with a hint of sadness in his voice.

"You want to talk about it?" Tsubaki asked compassionately.

Kairon was a little shocked at her question, nobody had asked if he wanted to talk about his problems before. Kairon then quickly lifted his head "Nah, it's okay cause I'm happy." He said merrily. "I found out my name today thanks to Soul." He continued happiness flooding his voice and face.

"Oh yeah? What is it?" Asked Tsubaki happily and curiously.

"It's Kairon Gorgon." Kairon Responded proudly.

Their conversation was then interrupted by Maka. "Well Kairon, you want some breakfast? you need to keep your strength up after all!" Maka said happily with a big smile on her face.

Kairon looked puzzled as he looked around the group as they suddenly seemed to focus solely on his reaction to the question. A drop of sweat trickled from his forehead down to his neck. He gulp and with a nervous breath, he responded. "I... Would love some" He said happily with a stutter.

Maka turned around to return to the cooking equipment to retrieve breakfast for Kairon. Kid, who didn't seem to be paying much attention, looked up towards Kairon and met him with a stern gaze. "He will fit in just fine" He said confidently. After Kid said these words of acceptance, the whole gang cheered and began to introduce themselves to him. Blackstar typically rushed to the front, making sure Kairon knew how much of a star he was. After introductions were made and Kairon eventually stopped apologizing for his actions the day before, they began laughing, joking and socializing with Kairon as if he were long lost family.

After Kairon finished his breakfast he looked around the group with a smile. His smile became hollow when he noticed the wounds and scars he had inflicted upon everyone. A sudden wave of sadness came over him as he remembered a passage from a poem he read as a child. "Blackness falls, as the beast descends from shadow. Consuming all, as his power breaks and devours him." He said sadly and quietly, reciting the passage to himself. His hair once again draped in front of his eyes, hiding the black tears which now crept from his eyes. Tsubaki looked over asking what he said. This caught the attention of Soul and Kid. "I need to go for a walk real quick." He said hiding his emotions as he rose from the sand. "I'll be back in ten minutes to half an hour. I just need to be alone for a while." Tsubaki acknowledged this.

As he turned away and started walking, Kid got up to stop him but Maka held him back."I'll keep an eye on him" She said confidently.

"Alright, but be careful okay?" Kid requested kindly.

"Of course Kiddy, i'll bring him around." She said with a big smile on her face.

Kairon didn't walk very far from the camp site so he didn't arouse suspicion. "This is far enough." He said to himself. "I don't want to hurt anyone so I will stay here until I don't feel sad anymore." Maka watched him from a distance as Kairon shrouded himself in sadness. "I don't deserve to even exist." Kairon then continued as his black tears began to fall from his face onto the golden sand beneath him. He then collapsed in sadness.

Maka could not bare to watch anymore and walked towards him. She sat down beside him and placed her arm on his shoulder. "Hey C'mon. Why would you say that?" She questioned compassionately.

The sudden realization that Maka was there made Kairon jump. When he composed himself he tried to look away to hide his tears. "Because I have hurt so many innocent people." Kairon's emotions were strained from continuous battles for his survival.

Maka could see the damage done from his past not only to his body, but to his mind and soul as well. "You couldn't help it. It wasn't like you had a choice in the matter." Maka said, desperate to make him hear her words. "You had too to survive. If you were given the choice I'm sure you would have not killed them."

Kairon looked back to the night before, to his fight with Maka. "I have even hurt those who tried to help me." He said full of tears and sadness while gently placing his hand on Maka's bandaged wounds. "See... All I do is hurt people. I'm just a monster." He continued as his voice deepened with sadness and regret. "I was born a monster, and I want to die like a monster. Alone and unable to hurt anyone."

At this point, Maka swelled up with tears and pulled Kairon into an embrace. "Don't you dare say another bad thing about yourself." Maka demanded with anger and sadness in her voice. "Don't you even think about it."

"But it's true." Kairon continued saying tearfully. "All I have been is a burden and a beast. I should just die like one and be done with it. I have no home go to, no family to return to. I have nothing except pain and death. What more is there for a Demon Sword like me. There are so many things I am half of, I doubt any part of me is even whole."

"I don't care if it's true!" She screamed holding him tighter. "You may have no home or family, but you don't need one anymore. We are your family and Death City can be your home." She continued softly. "Just don't give up."

"Why?" Kairon questioned. "Why would you want to help someone like me?"

"Because I see you as a friend, and so do the rest of us." She replied. Kairon looked up and realized the whole group came to see if he was okay. "So please don't give up." She requested. "Because I'm not giving up on you."

"Please don't say something like that, it will only bring you suffering." Kairon responded coldly trying to hold back his tears.

Maka moved back to look Kairon straight in the eye. "That's too bad, because we don't give up on family." She said with a tearful smile.

At this point Kairon couldn't hold back any longer. The sea of tears had overflowed the dam of emotional suppression. He collapsed onto Maka in tears, holding her tightly, like he had never had someone to lean on his whole life. The rest of the group look towards him in sympathy as Liz and Tsubaki went down to see if he would be okay.

It took Kairon about ten minuets to finally calm down. Individuals of the group would occasionally ask him if he was okay and they would tell him that if he needed to talk about anything he could speak to them about it, and each time he would say "I'm fine now thanks to you guys and thank you, I really appreciate it."

Eventually, everyone but one person had spoken to him after the talk he had with Maka and that was Kid. Kairon walked over to help Kid pack his stuff ready for the trip home. Kairon seemed to have a sense of guilt bearing down on him. "Listen." Kid said. "I don't blame you for what happened. So you can relax okay?"

A feeling of comfort seemed to flow over Kairon "Th.. Thank you, Lord Death." Kairon said nervously, making sure not to offend the Shinigami of Death City.

"Please, just call me Kid. Everyone else does, besides your family now just like Maka said." Kid said happily.

"Are you sure? I don't want to offend you or anything." Kairon asked respectfully.

"Yes it's fine don't worry about it" Kid replied cheerfully.

"Okay, thanks Kid" Kairon responded happily.

"However, I will have to warn you about my son." Kid said concerned. "He might not be very friendly to you if he finds out what you did to Maka."

"I don't expect him to be." Said Kairon sadly. "To be honest he probably would kill me if he found out."

"And you would blindly accept death rather than try to earn redemption?" Kid questioned, worried about the answer.

"There is no forgiving what I have done." Replied Kairon, saddened by the thought of yet another person hating him before they tried to understand him. "However, you and Maka do not hold me responsible for my actions last night. So if I am given the chance, I will not give up. If even one person still believes in me I will not stop until I have been forgiven for my actions and I will not stop until I have brought peace to the innocents of this world" He said as he summoned a small knife in his right hand and held his left hand in front of him. He rapidly swung the blade towards his left hand, slicing it open and leaking black blood onto the golden sand. A small flicker of pain was shown as he flinched in agony. By this point everyone was listening to his speech. "I swear upon this wound, that I will protect the innocent and fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, regardless of the sacrifices I have to endure." His wound quickly sealed as he knelt before Death the Kid. "I would like to learn how to control my power and become a student of the D.W.M.A. If you will let me." Said Kairon, almost begging for acceptance.

Kid knelt down and looked him in the eye and said, "I will accept your vow but you didn't have to be so extreme about your method of showing us your commitment." Kid placed his hand on Kairon's shoulder and picked him up off the ground. "We will help you in controlling your power and you can enroll into the D.W.M.A. when we get back to Death City." Continued Kid happily. "Just promise me one thing" Kid requested.

"Anything." Responded Kairon.

"Don't do anything quite that drastic again, you scared the crap out of us." Said Kid trying to hide his laughter.

"Of course, sorry." Said Kairon happily, shortly bursting into a fit of laughter with everyone else.
