Maka, James and Kairon had finally made it to the new cafe. "Death INDIE?" Kairon asked aloud.

"Yup." Responded Maka joyfully. "They play acoustic and indie artists in the background to help set a nice atmosphere and they have loads of tasty food." Maka stated with lots of happiness in her voice as a smile took over Maka's face.

"I'm gunna get my usual Meat Feast pizza and Americano, what you gettin mum?" Frost asked Maka with a smirk.

"Gunna go with my usual Chai Latte and Pastrami." Responded Maka confidently.

As they walked threw the doors, they were greeted by a young man on the till "Yo Frost, sup man?" He asked with a smile on his face as he begun to sterilize his hands with anti-bacterial gel. The young man looked around 18 and was a little shorter than frost. His hair was jet black which was mostly covered by his beanie hat, he also wore a grey T-shirt and black baggy jeans, partially covering his black and grey high tops.

"Sup Sal, how ya doin?" Asked Frost as the group walked towards the bar to order.

Sal looked up. "I'm good thanks guys you wanting your usual orders?" He asked to Maka and Frost.

"Sure!" said both Maka and Frost simultaneously and happily.

Sal added up the prices of the order into the till then looked to Kairon. "And what can I get you?" Sal asked as he motioned his arm and gestured the choice of drinks on the large black board on the wall behind him.

Kairon carefully examined the options until his eyes went from a deep purple into radiant and sparkling, almost creepily bright, violet. Kairon gasped and lifted of the floor slightly in excitement. "Hot chocolate? You guys have that here?" Kairon asked almost brought to tears with happiness.

Sal look at him with happiness and bewilderment. "Yes we do and you even get marshmallows on it." He responded happily.

"Can I have a large one please?" Kairon pleaded to Frost.

"Sure thing dude." Frost said happily as Sal priced up their order. Frost gave him the requested fee and took a letter. Kairon and Maka had gone to find a table for them to sit at.

After they sat down and got comfy on the sofas available in the cafe, Kairon began to look around and observe the unorthodox decorations around the cafe. "They like to be different here don't they? Looks good though." He stated full of admiration and fascination.

"Yeah, it's a pretty awesome place." Responded Frost rather casually.

"Its pretty popular with the students at the academy too." Maka added Joyfully.

In the background, music struggled to be heard over coffee machine making the drinks Frost, Maka and Kairon ordered. As the loud noises ended, track changed to a metal song. Kairon began to hear and analyse the song which was playing. "What is, that beautiful harmony of sound?" Kairon asked curiously.

"Its metal but cant remember who this is." Said Frost, now curious about the song himself.

"Its Killswitch Engage's cover of Holy Diver, performed originally by Dio." Stated Maka Clearly and uncontrollably.

"Oh yeah... Wait...WHAT!?" Frost demanded, Confused on how his mom knew that.

"Soul listened to it once or twice on a few missions so it stuck in my mind." She answered innocently, trying to keep her secret hidden. It may have been a truthful reason but Maka secretly loved rock and metal for quite some time.

"Oh... Fair enough." Said Frost, believing his mother's excuse.

Maka made a sigh of relief in her head as Kairon closed his eyes and let his imagination roam free to the song playing in the background. He imagined himself fighting the horrid witch that he fought earlier that day and the epic struggle of doing so to eventually be victorious. He stood over her as she laid on the floor. Kairon held a scythe to her throat, the blade was under her chin as he held it backhand ready to pull on the scythe, decapitating his would be victim. "Cheers Sal!" Said Maka, interrupting Kairon's day dream and snapping him back to consciousness.

"Not a problem Maka." Sal responded as he place the drinks on the table. "Enjoy!" He continued as he began to walk back to the bar.

Kairon looked down to the table and saw an awesome looking cup of hot chocolate. A smile grew on Kairon's face as he picked up the marshmallow covered drink. His eyes turned a bright silver as the drink touched his tongue and the breakdown of the song started to play in the background. Maka and Frost jumped slightly and became alert at this new development. "Whats wrong?" Kairon asked as he put his drink back on the table, puzzled and confused at why they were so tense and on edge. Maka held up a pocket sized mirror in front of Kairon's eyes. "Oh. Awesome! I didn't know they could turn to a chrome color."

"Are you feeling okay Kairon?" Asked Maka, concerned about the civilians in the building.

"Yeah I feel awesome!" Kairon stated enthusiastically. "I feel like a rush of energy and flowing through me, like a hidden power that lay dormant within me."

"Mum, do you think its Soul Resonance?" Asked Frost examining Kairon's wavelength closely.

Maka looked closely at the wavelength of Kairon's soul which had now exploded into life. "It looks... Chaotic yet some how organized." Then it struck her. The awful feeling of a Kishin soul.

As her attention was drawn from Kairon's soul and instead to the nearby Kishin, she began to track and locate the evil spirit. By the time she found it Kairon had already begun walking towards the door. "Kairon!" Shouted Frost "Where are you going?" He asked curious.

Kairon looked back at Frost. His eyes glowed a fluorescent electric blue. "There's only enough room in this city for one monster." He looked back at the door and began to walk. "And I'm already here." With that he walked out the door and created a ninja sword in his hand no bigger than a normal kitchen knife. The hilt had no guard and a white grip. The blade was black with a thin red stripe starting from the grip and stretching across the dull side of the blade to the blade. Kairon began to jog at a steady pace, making sure to stay in control with every step. Slowly his speed began to increase as he closed in on his prey. His jog eventually developed into a prolonged sprint. He saw his target at the end of the street who was closing in on an innocent civilian. "HEY!" Kairon screamed forward knocking the Kishin off balance. In a flash, Kairon's blade torn the Kishin's in two, which then quickly evaporated into the Kishin egg that hidden within the flesh of the now slain monster. Kairon quickly made his weapon disappear and turned his attention to the defenseless child that lay behind him. "You okay kid?" Kairon asked as friendly as he could. He then carefully crouched next to him and began to check if he was injured in any way.

"I'm fine now, th-thank you." Said the boy hidden in the shadow of a market stall. His grey shorts were torn slightly and his red tee-shirt helped hide a graze on his upper arm.

Maka quickly caught up with Kairon to see a disembodied Kishin egg and Kairon picking up a boy from behind a fruit stand. Kairon began to give to child a piggy back ride, because the boy struggled to walked, and walked towards Maka. "You two okay?" Maka asked as she stopped and looked at them.

"The kid has a few scratches and bruises but he's alright." Kairon said compassionately looking up to the child he held on his back who now was smiling and feeling safe. "Whats your name anyway?" He asked the boy.

"My name is Jason, Jason Heartfilia."

"Awesome nice to meet you, I'm Kairon." He stated happily. "Which way do you live i'll take you home if you like?" Asked Kairon happily.

"Oh its just a couple of streets away." Jason responded happily.

"Coolio, i'll be back soon Maka. Save a seat for me!" Kairon shouted back as he started running towards Jason's house.

Maka smiled and waved at Kairon who soon disappeared round a corner. "He is ready for the Academy." She said to herself as she walked back to the cafe. She had picked up the Kishin egg which was left floating there in the middle of the street and placed it in her pocket. "Still it's best to be safe and ask Kiddy and Stein first." She concluded to herself once more.

Maka slowly made her way back to the cafe to see that Frost was still sat in his seat. "Hey mum, how did he do?" Frost asked curiously.

"He did awesome, he finished the Kishin off by the time I got there and saved a kid. He's taking him home now." Maka answered happily.

"What did he do with the soul?" Frost continued to question.

"Oh he left it so I picked it up for him I'm gunna give it to him when he gets here." Maka responded happily.

"You think its a good idea to give it to him?" Asked Frost, cautious of the consequences. "You have no idea what will happen to him." He concluded bluntly.

"I think its his decision whether he has it or not." Stated Maka proudly. "This is his achievement, so he should choose whether he gets the reward or not." She continued in satisfaction.

"Yeah I suppose your right, but keep an eye on him if he does eat the soul." Frost said.

After about five minuets of conversation between Maka and Frost, they both decided that Kairon was ready to be put into that academy and that they would get him enrolled the next day. Kairon then returned to a warm welcome from both Maka and Frost. "Welcome back" said Maka cheerfully.

"Hey dude you okay?" Asked Frost nicely.

"Hey guys" Said Kairon as he walked towards them while rubbing the back of is head with his right hand. "I'm pretty good thanks for asking." Kairon continued happily as he sat down next to frost. The table Now was the resting place of the three drink which were already there and now a pastrami sandwich and a meat feast pizza. Kairon seemed fascinated at the marvelous looking pizza, adorned with a lathering of meat cheese and sauce. Kairon's stomach began to scream in hunger.

As Kairon doubled over in pain in his seat Frost took pity on him. "Dude, do you wanna slice?" Frost offered compassionately. "You actually look really pale, sorry i would have gotten you some food if I knew you were hungry." He stated feeling really guilty.

"Y-yes please." Kairon's struggle was as obvious as the roar from his stomach and the pain is his eyes. Frost picked up a slice and gave it to Kairon. Kairon slowly took the slice of delicious combination of salami, pepperoni, ham and bacon on a BBQ sauce covered pizza base. He took a bite and chewed for a while. After swallowing the bite he took, color rapidly flooded his face. His eyes began to glimmer slightly, like the lights had finely returned to him. After he took a moment to savor the flavor, he said. "I forgot how good food was." After this the rest of the slice was gone in a flash.

"Do you want one of your own?" Frost asked, Shocked at how quickly Kairon eat the slice. Kairon's eyes turn the creepily bright shade of violet like they did when he saw that the cafe did hot chocolates. Frost the stood up and walked over to the bar to order another pizza.

As Frost walked towards Sal once more he began to think to himself. "I hope this makes up for being so horrible to him a few days ago." Little did he know that just by talking to Kairon, Frost already took huge steps towards building a true friendship between him and Kairon.

Meanwhile back at the table. "By the way Kairon, you forgot something." Maka stated happily while retrieving the soul he left behind when he too Jason home.

Kairon looked upon it in fascination. "What is it?" He asked with a dumbfounded look on his face.

Maka seemed shocked that Kairon didn't know what it was, he had quite a kill count on the Kishin of the world. "Well Kairon." She begun to explain after regaining her composure. "This is a soul, but its different to a normal human soul like mine. Its a Kishin egg, these souls are the souls we hunt. Kishin are humans who have begun hunting and consuming other human souls. We then go out and take there souls for breaking this law. These souls are then consumed by our weapon partners, but I think you could eat this cause your farther could consume souls." Towards the end of her explanation she gave the soul to Kairon.

Kairon held it in the palm of his hands. Its eerie red glow bounced off his hands and shined against his eyes. "What will happen if I eat it?" Kairon questioned with caution plaguing his every word.

"It provides the consumer with a permanent power boost, depending on the strength of the soul will depend on the magnitude of power you gain." Maka explained like she had rehearsed the conversation many times in her head. "But in the end, the choice is yours whether you consume it or not. I can't force you." She concluded sportively while she placed her hand on his wrist.

"I'd rather learn more about my power and how to control it before it start making myself more power so take it back and keep it safe I will have it when I'm ready." Kairon said happily with a smile. He looked up to a smiling Maka. "Thank you though, I really appreciate it." He concluded joyfully.

Frost rejoined them and they all sat laughing and joking the day away. After the food was eaten and the conversations died down they decided it was time to go home for the day. As they left the cafe Kairon felt a great sadness come over him. "Hey Kairon!" Shouted Maka from the end of the street. Kairon was startled and turn around quickly. "You wanna come stay a few nights? I forgot that you have no where to stay." She asked happily as Frost was Face-palming next to her.

"If your sure its okay?" Kairon shouted back.

"Of course I'm sure we have plenty of room!" Maka responded happily.

Kairon began to run to them to catch up and join them and they all walked together back to gallows manor. Kairon finally felt like he belonged somewhere and it was all thanks to some kind words a a hot chocolate.
