**AN**

This is based five weeks after the previous chapter.

**POV Kairon**

I sat in a dark cell. The walls of my mind binding me to my fragile sanity. After a suggestion from Stein, I began to meditate to help quell the demons in my subconscious. The cell housed not just me but two other figures, which were just silhouettes in cloaks. "Who are you? What do you want? And why are you so persistent to sacrifice my last shred of humanity to get it?" I spoke from my heart in a calm and collected tone. They sat in a deadly silence. "Why don't you answer me? Am I not worthy of your voice?" I question once more, hoping for more than the usual silence.

"We are part of you, we live as part of your soul. Naturally, this makes us incline to attempt to become the host of this body." The left figure paused and looked towards me. "And one of us will succeed." The demonic voice was harsh, cold and menacing to say the least. I feel my hair begin to stand on end. It's voice had a masculine sound underneath the harsh growl. "You asked why I didn't speak sooner? Truth is I've been screaming inside your head since the day I got here. You just never asked who I was until now." The figure on the left stopped staring at me and turned to face the figure on the right. "You are breaking Kairon... Little by little..." He paused once more and turned back to me. "And we have already begun to assert control over your soul. I'ts just a matter of time before you fall to us, when your strength fails you and your 'Friends' leave you for dead." The figure then turned back to his original position.

"He is right. Your strength after your fight with Medusa is slowly dying, its just a matter of who is left standing." The figure on the right slowly whispered. It's voice was similarly demonic to the left figure's but had a more feminine sound under its growl.

I had meditated long enough to open the eyes of my soul and behold them as they spoke for the first time. "We don't want to serve a king when your horses overpower you. It's just stupid." The left figure said as he removed the cloaks hood, allowing me to see his face. His eyes were crimson red with jet black spiderwebs extending outward from his bleach white, snake pupils - both of which were fixed on me as if his stare was trying to tear my soul open. The white of his eyes was instead was black as his heart. As the spiderwebs crossed into the black of his eyes it turned white. His long hair was blonde and pushed back. His skin was pale but still resembled human colour. His jaw line stood out due to his thin cheeks which was home to small blonde hairs that resembled a light "Five O'Clock Shadow".

"Who are you? I get that your part of me but what is your name?" I ask, a flicker of fear shot through me as I spoke.

"I have been given many names, however one that remains with me to this day is..." He paused once more the look back at me and met my now open gaze. "Diablo".

The chill his voice gave me ripped me from my subconscious forcing my eyes open as my physical sight returns. My shudder caused me to loose balance on the rock I sat on as I began to fall backwards. As the physical world became more visible, I saw my dark mental prison peel away and be replaced by a lush green hill and a cloudless sea blue sky. I hit the ground with a thud, unable to fight the grip gravity had as it dragged me to earth. I heard a giggle emanate from above me. My eyes opened after blinking to see Tsubaki stood above me, a bright smile on her lips. "Well, that went well." She spoke sarcastically and giggled once more while tilting her head to the left.

After she helped me up, we sat on a nearby bench, the city in our view. "Your really getting the hang of that meditation stuff." Tsubaki complimented warmly.

"Thanks! I suppose I have." I spoke happily and then shuddered in fear of the creature I hold within me.

His face flashed in my mind and reminded me that is name was "Diablo".

"You okay? You look a little pale." Tsubaki questioned with concern.

"I'm fine. Just a little shaken up is all." I confessed to Tsubaki. I've become quite open towards Tsubaki. Nearly everyone is understandably weary around me, like the're walking on eggshells or something. I mean I am a Demon Sword who dropped two thirds of an elite task force without being conscious of my actions, but she was the one person who didn't change. I felt shut off from lots of people just in case I hurt them in some way but Tsubaki was the first to accept me with open arms and even spoke with Maka about putting me up at her place but Maka insisted that Kid would be fine with it cause Maka had more room, obviously. It was like I had a sister and it was great to finally have someone I could speak freely to. I felt no fear when she was next to me and I knew I wasn't alone, no matter what.

I felt her hand rest on my shoulder. "Whats wrong?" Her voice was full of compassion and warmth.

I had to shut her down. "I'm sorry, Tsubaki. I can't talk about it right now. I'll talk after training." I looked up to her and smiled weakly.

"Okay." Tsubaki began sadly. "Well I understand so we will talk about it when your ready." Her voice transitioned slowly from sorrow to happiness. She smiled and nodded as she stood up. "Well, we better get on with training then right?" She began to follow the path that led to the academy.

"Couldn't agree more!" I replied Enthusiastically as I rose from my seat and began to follow my foster sister.

Twenty Minuets Later

"Was the floor always so charred in here?" I ask dumbfounded at the scared floor and walls.

"No" Tsubaki begins, "In fact this floor was concrete grey at one point, but that was WAY before you got here" She chuckles through every word as she recalls the number of people who didn't cause as much combined damage as Kairon did in four hours. "Oh well." She continues after regaining her composure. "We are gunna be trying something new today Kairon!" She finishes with a certain level of enthusiasm.

"Yeah, what is it?" I reply, filled with curiosity.

"I'ts resonance training" She responded happily.

"I'm kinda happy to hear its not just combat training but, I've got no one to resonate with except my inner demons and do I need to remind you of the last time we tried that?" My words fade to a soft whisper, ashamed of my previous destructive mishaps.

"Well we know that, that's why you will be learning to resonate against music." Her look was serious as she handed me a pair of headphones.

"Really? This works for people?" I ask, dumbfounded at the concept.

"Trust me. It works." Was all the answer I got before she made me slip the headphones on. They felt sturdy, like they would stay on my head in an earthquake. The headphones were black with a grey power button which had a blue LED light above it to display it was working. On the right side was five buttons (all gray). The first I noticed was slightly larger than the other four and was placed in the center of the speaker cover. It was a communication button, it activated the built-in microphone so you could talk to other people. The next two were horizontally aligned. The one at the back, toggled a screen which deployed over my left eye and the one on the right was a confirmation button for my screens menu. the last two buttons were up and down buttons to navigate the menu. It was abundantly clear that these headphones were specially designed for assault teams to use in combat, but they came in handy for training too. I felt the headphones hug my head slowly getting tighter, like it was trying to bind itself to me. It eventually stopped before it began to be a discomfort. While I became infatuated with my new accessory, Tsubaki left me to it and walked off to the arenas control room. "Okay Kairon, can you hear me okay?" I herd Tsubaki's request through the headphones.

I pressed the button to begin talking. "I read you loud and clear." I responded with a wave of my left hand while my right helped me communicate.

"Trust your instincts, don't think about anything, just listen and feel got it?" She explained, making sure I understood every detail before beginning and I responded with and thumbs up with my right hand.

The small screen deployed automatically over my left eye displaying a video called "[1 HOUR] BEST GAMING MIX {ELECTRO, HARD DANCE, DUBSTEP, DRUMSTEP}". I pressed the screen toggle to regain my full peripheral vision and waited for the music. It started light with a melody and then a hard bass chord to accompany it. As the drums built to the bass drop, I felt my wavelength synchronize with the music I was listening to and steadily rise in intensity. When the build up finally reached its peak I closed my eyes and trusted my instincts. Digi'stucted Kishin started to form around me and they began to rush me as a small drum fill lead to the bass drop. "FIREPOWER!" An electronic voice shouted as the music cut out for a moment. The bass then rapidly dropped as I snapped my eyes open and began to cut through the small hoard with ease, each slash landing on a beat of a drum. I couldn't quite remember when my Witchblade was formed but it was strong, and very deadly. I never felt so strong and by the time I finished admiring my sword, another Kishin had lunged at me for the kill. I stepped to the right and then rushed the blade through the center of its body, ripping the monster in two. I spun counter clockwise and killed two more with an audible scream of power and accomplishment.

I re-took my stance and tapped my right heel on the floor in sync with the music. My left foot is out in front, shoulders width apart from my right which is sideways on and almost in a line with my left foot, giving me a sideways on position. My knees are slightly bent to increase my agility. My left arm and hand are extended and relaxed in front of me, while my right hand is coiled like a scorpion's tail, the sharp edge facing away from me. I beckon and taunt the incoming Kishin by moving my fingers in a manor that says "Come on then!" When they came within range I rushed them and let them have it, one after the other after the other, they all fell till only I was left standing. I felt a surge as another build up began. It raced down my left arm and surrounded around my left hand. The next wave to form had was made up of ranged attackers. I began to focus the energy round my left hand creating fire. As the bass dropped once more, I pushed my arm out and the fireball shot from my hand and exploded nearby the group of enemies I was aiming for. There was no time to celebrate as another wave began to be Digi'stucted around me. They were spread out and being created in a staggered order. This was clearly a test of my observation and quick targeting skills while also testing my agility and speed. I decided to keep the hoard at bay for as long as I could by using small, quick firing fire spells which set my enemies on fire when they made contact. Eventually they began to overwhelm me and suddenly I was surrounded and struggling to cope.

Suddenly, I felt something explode within me. I felt a huge surge of power rush out of me creating a gust of wind which forced the Kishin back. Tsubaki seemed shocked when I looked up to her. I then noticed that there was a weight in my left hand and looked to check what it was. It was another sword! Shorter than the first by two inches and was gripped backhanded, adopting more of a defensive role. With a new blade came new found confidence and I charged the Kishin without mercy. Hacking, slashing, breaking and cleaving my way through a seemingly infinite hoard of creatures all with different shapes sizes and abilities. No matter what the Kishin did, they seemed doomed to fail the moment I earned my second blade. After a few more enemies, their numbers began to dwindle until only one remained. It was a tall fellow, roughly eight foot five inches with major muscle tone and definition, getting hit by this guy would hurt - A LOT! He made the first move with a straight right punch. I use my greater agility and speed to Jump backwards and narrowly escape the impact. The moment I touch ground, I dash towards his hand with hopes of running up his arm. I am cut off by his second assault. A left hook which makes a clean impact.

When I come too shortly after, I am sat leaning against the wall. The Kishin is bearing down on me and cocks its arm back for a right cross. I realize whats going on and rush to avoid the overwhelming punch speed. The impact sent debris flying across the arena Making me flinch and blinding the Kishin temporarily. When the ruble settles, I rush the Kishin with a barrage of fast attacks, littering his body with cuts. I stab the Kishin in the back and use my swords to climb to its head. When I reach the its head I jump to escape the Kishin's vice like grip. As I reach the peak of my jump, I position myself to decapitate the beast below me. My shorter blade cuts through its flesh but gets stuck in it's neck bone. I jump higher, once again using it's head as a platform just before it falls to its knees, Giving me more momentum. I land on my sword with a foot on each side of its head, snapping both bone and blade as the head fell free and toppled to the ground along with the hulking mass of muscle left behind. I sheath my Witchblade as the music begins to fade. The sheath was purple and had a black spider web pattern with a unique twist. The ends of the webs had an arrowhead, like Medusa's snakes. It hung from my left hip from a belt ending with a metallic 'cling'. The sheath and sword began to turn black and shatter into black shards which cast themselves heavenward and disappeared. I check the time and it has been half an hour since we began training. I recall the training I just went through and stare at the electricity that sparked round my palms. "HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AWESOME!" I scream to the world. I turn to face the control room. Tsubaki is staring at me, confused and astonished. She seems to snap out of her daze and press a few buttons on the control console. A bench and a towel rack begin Digi'structing behind me. I sit down and dry my face of sweat.

"Awesome work Kai!" Tsubaki beams her caring smile with her compassionate words of enthusiasm at me, making me feel proud of what I just managed to accomplish. "I'm really impressed how did you do that?"

"I don't know, I just trusted my instincts and felt my way around with my eyes shut." Kairon returns happy and confused.

"Kairon! We got a mission and I want you to come with! I know you have been wanting for your first mission for a while and now is your chance to get in the field!" Frost shouts over leaning on a wall near the entrance.

"Your old man thinks I'm ready?" Kairon quickly stands and two finger salutes to his friend.

"Nope, but I do." Frost reassured Kairon with a quick brofist.

"Thanks, but are you really sure. It's only been five weeks." Kairon replies full of concern.

"Relax, its just recon. No combat on this one." Frost states reassuringly.

"What if something goes wrong?" I ask, visibly wincing at the harsh and dark sadness in my voice.

Frost seemed to be startled at my question. "Well we will take care of it honestly nothing to go wrong on recon, its all stealth and distance." Frost returns with a cocky smile.

"Look, all I'm saying is if we suddenly get ambushed by a crazy elite squad of assassins or some crap like that, I can't do anything about it." I made sure my point was put across in the calmest way I could possible manage.

"Kairon just relax we aren't doing recon on the witch's it's on a lab." Frost pulls out a cigarette and sparks up. "You know me Kairon. I wouldn't ask if I didn't think you could handle it dude." He manages to quell my paranoia.

"Fine but we run it by your old man first. I'm not taking any shortcuts here. If he says I'm not ready then I'm not, simple." I state with a smirk on my face.

"Adda' boy Kairon! Live a little!" Tsubaki chirps before giggling happily.

"Sweet we leave in five days so get your crap sorted and we can set off faster." Frost states almost setting a direct challenge in his own 'commanding officer' way of doing things.

"You got it cap'" I respond with a wink as I walk to hit the showers. As I walk away they leave me to it and walk towards the death room. "Well I might as well stop by Gallows Manor and pack some gear." I think aloud to myself. I suddenly get a small of my odor, a musky mix of sweat and iron. I wince and my own scent. "Right after a shower." I confirm to myself.
