Bunny-Puppies

Regaining past memories came with the downside of regaining some past fears and traumas as well as affection for people and things you might not have had before.

That said, Ty Lee has been betrayed.

Totally and utterly betrayed.

And not many people can claim they'd been betrayed by the universe itself.

"WHYYYYY?!" she wailed mournfully, dropping to her knees to scream at the heavens for the cruel sight before her.

Iroh looked bewildered and Zuko was trying very hard not to laugh.

The litter of baby bunny-puppies looked up at them from their crate, their little noses twitching and letting out excited little yips at the commotion.

"They're bunnies! But they're dogs! But they're bunnies! But dogs!" Ty Lee just kept repeating to herself as she wondered if she should adore the little puff balls or run away in fear.

"Do you need protection from these? Or should I get you one?" Zuko asked, a wide grin on his face and barely concealed mirth in his tone.

Never had there been a more conflicted expression than the one on Ty Lee's face at that moment. "I? Don't? Know?" she whispered.

Iroh just smiled genially at passers-by who had stopped to stare at the dramatics. "Ah, the energy of youth," he said, waving them on.

"WHY ARE THE GODS AND SPIRITS SO CRUEL TO ME!" Ty Lee wailed behind him, and Zuko finally lost it and began roaring with laughter.

The bunny-puppies just twitched their noses and looked cute.

Zuko's not surprised when months later after everything was over and done with, Ty Lee somehow managed to hunt down some regular rabbits to cuddle with.

"The superior bunnies," she called them and wouldn't let them go for hours. "Lan Zhan needs his buns. And I will not let his only choice be those… things!"

When she could finally bring herself to let them go, she gifted them to Mai, earning a rare look of delight across her face.

It wasn't long until their home had a whole field of rabbits once again.

A/N A short but funny idea I had that I couldn't resist using, and gives a bit of levity from the last chapter. Poor Ty Lee XD

For any coming here for just the Avatar portion, Wei Wuxian is severely Cynophobic due to childhood trauma. Just the sound of a dog barking makes him cower in fear and seek protection from his family or Lan Wangji. On the flip side, he really likes bunnies because they're Lan Wangji's favorite animal, and hold romantic significance because Wei Wuxian gifted him a pair when they were teenagers. His favorite and least favorite animals combined into one, no wonder Ty Lee is so lost.
