Chapter 3: The Cure and the Capture and Trial of Sean Price

After returning from Andrews Castle, Archie had sequestered himself in his potions lab to finish working on the lycanthropy cure. He was positive that two drops of phoenix tears, two drops of basilisk and acromantula venom, and aconite would work. Remus Lupin and Jason Namaha had volunteered to be the first test subjects. It was a full moon tonight, so Archie hoped that the first test of the cure would be successful.

At about 7:00 that evening, Jason and Remus walked into the lab just as Archie was putting the final touch on what he hoped would be the cure for lycanthropy. "Remus, Jason it's good to see you. Have a seat, I'm almost finished." Archie said. Remus and Jason sat down and watched as the cure was finished. Taking a ladle and pouring two healthy measures of the potion into two goblets, Archie handed them to the two werewolves. "Wait five seconds, then down it in one gulp if you can gents. Then I've set up an area to see if you'll change." He said

The two men counted to five then downed the potion in one gulp. They grimaced at the taste and Archie chuckled. "Yeah, unfortunately I can't do anything about the taste without negating the effects of the potion but if my two years of experimenting have worked, then you two will be the first to be cured of lycanthropy." He said. "Well, the full moon is in about an hour, can you show us where we can wait?" Remus asked.

Archie pointed to a warded corner and smiled. "Right there, gentlemen." He said. Remus and Jason walked over to the corner and waited patiently. As 8:00 came, the moonlight shone through one of the vent shafts. Both men closed their eyes, but couldn't feel the normal pain they felt when they transformed. Archie let out the breath he'd been holding and smiled. It worked, the cure worked. After making sure that he had all of his notes and the patent paperwork filled out, he sent everything to his solicitor, Frank Macmillan of Macmillan, Parkinson, and Fawley with Cupid, one of the Andrews family owls.

Two weeks later, Archie was flooded with owls from werewolves all over Europe with requests to be given the cure. Within the pile of requests was a letter from the Wizengamot Administration Services. After sorting his Wizengamot mail from the requests, Archie pulled out the letter, checked it for charms and potions and opened it.

The letter read:

Lord Andrews,

This letter is to inform you that an emergency session of the Wizengamot has been called by Madam Griselda R Marchbanks to hear the case of the Ministry of Magic Vs Sean Alexander Price. Mr. Price, was captured by the royal guards of King Dragomir Stefanou II and Romanian aurors as he was illegally trying to enter Constanovitch. As you were the intended target of the attack, you will not be able to sit in judgement as a member of the Wizengamot as you will be called as a witness by the prosecution, so we've asked Director Amelia S Bones, Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to act as your temporary proxy for that session as requested by Lady Andrews.

As you're still healing from the attack, I have seen to it that this letter was made into a portkey so you don't have to use the visitors entrance or the floo. The emergency meeting of the Wizengamot will take place tomorrow at 10:00

Hoping you are well,

William Anderson

Deputy Director of the Wizengamot Administration Authority

Archie nodded and took a deep breath and nodded walking to the bedroom to pick out a suit, since he didn't think it would be appropriate for him to appear as a witness in his Wizengamot robes even though as a member of the Wizengamot and the victim, he was allowed to wear the robes that showed him as a member of the Wizengamot. The next day, Archie and Veronica took the portkey to the Ministry of Magic and parted ways, with Veronica going to the private lift and Archie taking one of the public lifts.

Walking into the witness holding room adjacent to the chamber, Archie saw Garrick Ollivander and William Wordsworth, the two people who saw him get shot from Diagon Alley and a few of the proprietors of shops in Knockturn Alley that were close to Diagon Alley. "Archie, good to see you." Ollivander said walking over to the young man. "Mr Ollivander, good to see you too. I didn't know you saw me get shot." Archie said as he shook the wandmaker's hand. "Oh yes, it's a shame that someone would be so cowardly to shoot our monarch. I hope he hangs." Ollivander said

"As do I." William said walking over. "Archie, I was wondering when this was all over if you'd mind giving me an exclusive interview for the Wizarding Wireless Network." He said shaking hands with his godson. "Not at all, William. How about this weekend?" Archie asked "Perfect," William said with a smile. An auror walked in and walked over to the three. "Mr. Wordsworth, you're being called for." He said to the reporter. In addition to being a reporter for the Daily Prophet, William was a broadcaster for the Wizarding Wireless Network. He was one of the few people who interviewed prominent people in the magical world.

William followed the auror into the chamber and Archie looked at Ollivander before walking over to sit down. Pouring himself a cup of tea, Archie picked up a copy of Transfiguration Today and flipped through the pages. He'd recently written an article for the magazine on the exceptions to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration and wanted to see it. Smiling, he sipped his tea and read the article proud of his work. The other witnesses were called leaving Archie alone with his thoughts.

When what seemed like hours, an auror came in. "Lord Andrews, they're calling for you." He said. Archie finished his tea and walked over to the auror and followed him into the Wizengamot chambers. Walking to the witness chair, Archie stood like the proud pureblood he was and held up his right hand. "Archibald Emmanuel Andrews, do you swear upon your life and magic to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?" Minister Pendragon asked. "I do, Minister Pendragon." Archie said. "Please be seated." Director Scrimgour said.

Archie sat down and fixed his tie. "You are Lord Archibald Emmanuel Andrews of No 27 Hartford Lane, Walton-On-Thames, is that correct?" Scrimgour asked. "I am." Archie said smiling at the use of a muggle property that the Andrews family owned. "Lord Andrews, can you to the best of your abilities describe the events of the 27th June 1992?" Scrimgour asked. "I was in Knockturn Alley procuring potions ingredients for the lycanthropy cure that was just released. I needed acromantula venom and a fresh crop of aconite, and the only place that I could procure the items was in the Apothecary at the end of Knockturn Alley..."

After testifying for an hour, Archie was permitted to step down, and a vote was taken. Sean Price was found guilty of all charges and sentenced to death in accordance to the law. The execution was witnessed by several members of the Wizengamot, the Minister for Magic and her Senior Undersecretary, Veronica in her role as Duchess of Gryffinsmore, and Archie as his victim.

In the end, another one of Voldemort's rampant followers was dead.
