Chapter 4: The Interview

That weekend, William Wordsworth appeared outside of the wards of the Great Mansion. Today, he was here to interview Archie about everything that had happened since he became Duke of Gryffinsmore. Walking through the wrought iron gate, he walked up to the door and knocked. The door opened, and Tipsey appeared. "Yes? How can Tipsey help you?" The little elf asked. "Good morning, I am here to see your master . My name is William Wordsworth, I'm a Daily Prophet reporter and broadcaster for the Wizarding Wireless Network. I'm here to interview him for the Wizarding Wireless Network." William said to the little elf. "One moment, Tipsey will see if Master Archie has finished his breakfast." Tipsey said before shutting the door.

After a few seconds, Tipsey opened the door. "Please come in, Mr. Wordsworth. Master Archie is out in the back garden." She said moving off the the side to allow the reporter to enter the house. William walked in and followed the little elf to the back garden where Archie was waiting. "Ah, William welcome please come and have a seat. I figured we'd do the interview out here." Archie said. William walked over and sat down before setting up the equipment. William's show for the WWN was called Wordsworth's Words with Prominent People. He's interviewed everyone and anyone that had any prominent role in shaping the future of Magical Britain. Be it prominent members of the Wizengamot, proprietors of stores in Diagon Alley that supplied Magical Britain's children with their Hogwarts supplies, or the monarch of Muggle Britain. William had been fortunate to get an exclusive interview with Queen Elizabeth II during the celebrations for her Silver Jubilee in 1977

After setting up, William pressed record and started the interview. "Good morning citizens of Magical Britain, thank you for tuning into this special episode of Wordsworth's Words with Prominent People. I'm your host William Wordsworth. Today, I have the fortunate pleasure and honor to be speaking with our monarch, Lord Archibald Emmanuel Andrews-Black-Gryffindor-Ravenclaw-Hufflepuff-Slytherin-Le Fey-Emrys-Peverell, the Duke of Gryffinsmore. Thank you for agreeing to this interview, Your Grace I know you're a very busy man." William said.

"Of course, William and please I'd like this to be an informal interview call me Archie for the duration." Archie said. "Of course, Archie. Now, first of I think I can speak for the entire wizarding world when I ask this question. How are you feeling?" William asked. "I feel fine. I will admit, my chest is still a bit sore but I'm lucky to be alive. I've been told that had the bullets entered my body an inch lower than where they landed I would've been dead." Archie said.

"I see, and the man who shot you Mr Sean Price, what do you know about him other than the fact he was an American death eater? Do you believe Voldemort will try to garner support from American purebloods like Grindlewald did in 1940? Or is this just a coincidence?" William asked. "Unfortunately, I don't know much about Mr. Price other than what I was told about him when I woke up in St Mungo's three days after I was shot. As for you second question, I believe that it's just a strange coincidence. However, I won't take any chances either way." Archie said

William nodded. "Now, even though you've only been Duke of Gryffinsmore for a year you've already changed the way that Hogwarts is run, all classes have a competent professor and an assistant professor to cover for classes when someone is ill, and all of the creatures in Magical Britain that speak the English language are represented in the Wizengamot. What do you contribute to your successes in the short time you've been in charge of Magical Britain?" William asked.

Archie took a moment to think about how he would answer that question and smiled. "I'd have to say my support system. I have the support of not only Queen Elizabeth II, but Chief Warlock Dumbledore in both his capacity as Chief Warlock for anything regarding the Wizengamot and in his capacity of Headmaster of Hogwarts for anything regarding Hogwarts, but also Deputy Headmistress McGonagall, Deputy Chief Warlock Longbottom, Minister Pendragon, and Senior Undersecretary Greengrass. I contribute a lot of my successes to those individuals." Archie said.

"Now, do you have any plans for the next Wizengamot seating in terms of laws and such?" William asked. "Not yet, I have some baseline proposals but I need to get the evidence together and such before presenting those proposals to the Wizengamot." Archie said. William nodded gently, he knew very well how hard it was to get a law proposal in front of the Wizengamot. The interview continued and the two men talked about topics William wanted to touch on. Then, they got to the lycanthropy cure.

"Now, what made you decide to start researching a possible cure for lycanthropy? It must've taken a long time and a lot of experimentation to perfect." William said Archie nodded and smiled. "It did, and I don't regret it. My friend and fellow classmate, Jason Namaha was bitten by Fenrir Greyback when we were in 5th year and every month I was with him in my animagus form to keep him company. Much like my Uncle Sirius and his friends did with Remus Lupin during their Hogwarts days." Archie said. William nodded and Archie continued. "When I completed my apprenticeship in 1989, I'd had enough of seeing Jason in so much pain every month and decided to do something about it. I refused to see my friend in so much pain. I've not known Remus very long, but I could only imagine what that horrible disease did to his body." He sai.

With a nod, William smiled and decided to wrap up. "Thank you for your time, Archie. I've been meaning to get an interview with you, but until now I was unable to do so due to how busy I am." He said. Archie nodded. "Of course, William any time you'd like an interview don't hesitate to ask and I'll set aside some time for it." Archie said before William stopped recording.
