Greetings. YuujinZone is here today/tonight to make this short announcement that I'm going back to the old, and more favored, version of my pride and joy in fanfic writing, soon to be remastered without or little significant changes to the near-completed plot. Recently, I've been looking back and comparing the number of favorites and follows both versions of Living Things, with the old one having more than the new version owing to being published more than three years ago. I have a lot of thinking on if updating Living Things as a separate version back in December is a good idea; everyone believes leaving the old version up if you rewrite the same story is optimal for those readers who preferred or missed it, and on some level, I agree.
However, as I try to rouse up from the depths of procrastination and uncertainty, I've come to a realization that the whole story hasn't changed as much as I led to believe in the second version. Sure I added an exclusive chapter or two, rewrote every paragraph to provide shorter and more concise sentences, added some scenes for foreshadowing or enhancing chapters, and even changed something but all in all, the entire plot remains the same. Maybe I was wrong in designating the second version as a total rewrite, or I wasn't specific in how I described it. Either way, I'm feeling like I'm only stalling it because I felt unsatisfied, overwhelmed by the direction of my life (nothing bad, I assure you, though it's related to having time to write because I'm finding a job to earn my income), and, most of all, stalling it since it's approaching its end. On the plus side, good! I have completed a single fic. But on the other, it makes me a little sad, yet appreciative for having come this far.
In fact, I'm feeling a bit nostalgic over the old version. Just seeing the number of favorites and follows it gained, and reading the reviews to remind me that readers did like it, leads me to realize starting from scratch via releasing a new version and advertise it as a "second revision" or "rewrite" is an impulsive act on my part born from overthinking that I saw the old version as bad because I was overwhelmed by how much I wrote. For that, I am sorry.
So, as I said, I'm gearing to return to the old version and completely give it a new makeover. Most of the elements present on the second version will be added to it, including revising or excising chapters and even characters. Not much, I tell you, but just wanted to inform you. Once that's done, time for me to bring the updated final battle to a close and lead Living Things to its denouement and ending! Again, I'm sorry for my seeming back-and-forth and impulsivity.
See you next time, everyone!
