"...To strive for something more. A better self... I too have made mistakes. I turned my back. By men abandoned, thus abandoned men…"
After Oersted accepted the Sword Spirit's/Lenneth's plea to save her world, and he was teleported away, he suddenly felt dizzy as he struggled to maintain his balance, gasping for air. "Is... It has been... a while... since I needed... air." He murmured between breaths.
He slowly opened his eyes to find himself in a dark circle room. He also noticed he was still holding onto the sword, its blue jewel gleaming faintly in the shadows. Oddly, He couldn't release the blade from his grasp until he placed it on his scabbard. "So it can't be separated from the blade. Would prefer a warning for that," he thought.
Looking around, Oersted noticed the only light came from a door where robed figures stood. Before he could speak, he spotted two out-of-place figures who he identified as his fellow heroes. Both appeared to be youthful Asian men; The spear hero, a blond with a ponytail, and the bow hero, a shorter individual with curly brown hair. In Short, these two stood out in their modern attire. However, there was something off about their outfits...
After regaining their composure, the two heroes noticed each other and directed their attention to the knight.
Spear Hero: "Wow, that's a kick-ass costume you've got there."
Oersted tilted his head. "...What?" he said
Bow Hero: "Yeah, that looks like real knight armor. Are you with the Fire Forge channel?"
Oersted looked at the archer, confused "...No. I am not with Fire Forge, and this is real armor."
Both heroes appeared to be puzzled, and the Spear Hero approached Oersted; upon closer inspection, the spearman was the same height as him, but he said nothing; the blonde tapped his chest plate, which caused him to jerk in shock."Holy... It is real!" He said
Oersted realized that possible these two had no idea what's going on."Yes, I am a Knight from the Kingdom of Lucrece." he explained
Two stared at each other before the blonde spear wielder said "...Sure, whatever you say, dude. Anyway, I guess these guys are the ones who brought us here."
The Knight gave the Spear Hero an annoyed look but chose to ignore him. It seemed that these two were already informed about the situation. Oersted glanced at the younger hero, the Bow Hero, and noticed a slight glint in his eyes an obvious sign of ESP powers, but curiously much dimmer compared to other Espers. "Perhaps his world's Espers haven't awakened yet," he thought, before noticing an odd small cube in his vision.
Priest: "Yes."
Snapping out of his thoughts, Oersted realized that the other heroes were in discussion with their summoners. Annoyingly, they were making demands for payment like a pair of nobles. He wanted to reprimand them but noticed something amiss or someone.
Oersted: "...Three of us."
"What?" said the head priest, with other heroes turning to the knight, whose gaze was piercing towards the head priest. "There are supposed to be four heroes wielding the four weapons, but there are only three of us here," he said
The robed figures were visibly shaken by the sword hero's statement, and the head priest struggled to find an explanation. "How could he hav..." the head priest thought, as the knight glared at them and continued.
"Either your rushed ritual didn't bring them here or more likely..." As said, he lays his hand on the sword. "You didn't summon them." he says as he unscabbed the blade and pointed it at the priest.
Fear gripped the priests, while the other heroes observed the knight. The Spear Hero interjected, "OK, look, dude, you're taking this a bit too seriously."
The knight turned to the spear hero, a flabbergasted man just said, "Is this guy, stupid?!" he thought. "What do you mean? These morons..." he said as he pointed at priests. "...Rush the ritual and now the 4th is missing!" He yelled at the spear wielder, who was taken aback; he tried to calm the knight down when the bowman assuaged him.
"Hey! Just calm down. Look, maybe they haven't logged in yet,". Bow Hero said,
Oersted looked at him like heard just the dumbest thing ever by a human being.
"What? Are You Serious?" Oersted exclaimed, badly containing his anger. The other two flinched in fear, while the priests stood by, watching the scene unfold. Fortunately, someone said, "Umm? Excuse me". Everyone turned to see another individual lying on the floor giving a timid look "Hey"
Bow Hero: Well, that's your answer. Now you can...
The knight disregarded the bowman's words and approached the fallen hero. He looked down at the man, who seemed to be a young Asian, slightly younger than both himself and the spear hero, but older than the bowman. The man looked fearful, anxiously awaiting the knight's next move.
After a few moments of the heroes gazing at each other, the knight knelt down, extending his hand. "Need a hand?" he asked gently.
The Shield Hero blinked in surprise, before grabbing the knight's hand, who helped him to stand up. "Th... Thank you" the man stammered
"There no need for thanks, Sir Shield and you called name me, Oersted "
Taken aback, "Oersted?" The Shield Hero thought there was something familiar about the man, but he quickly brushed it off. "Right, anyway, my name is Naofumi." the man said, but they were interrupted by the Blonde idiot who told them to hurry up.
After that, the head priest explained the situation to the four of them. He also apologized for hastily summoning them for the ritual, but they were desperate (The knight had his doubts). He informed them that the king wished to speak with them to fully explain the situation.
The priest then guided them toward a spiral staircase. While they were walking, Oersted suddenly began to feel exhausted and requested a moment of rest.
Spear Hero: "Dude, seriously? It wasn't even a minute!"
Naofumi: "Hey, Lancer, give the guy a break."
Bow Hero: "Shielder is right; maybe we could remove the armor...".
Oersted interrupted the archer, assuring them he was fine. "(panting) It's just that it had been a long time since I had a body..."; He stopped himself, realizing what he was about to say. This confused the three of them, including the priests.
"What do you mean?" asked the Bow Hero.
"Never mind, anyway." said Oersted, trying to change the subject. As he stood up, he suddenly stopped to look out a window. Naofumi turned to see that the breathtaking view overlooked the town they were currently in, and he was amazed. The other two noticed his reaction as well.
"What have you never been...?" The Spear Hero teased the Shield Hero before looking surprised by something. "A Saber?" he asked, leaving Naofumi confused. Turning to the knight, Naofumi was astonished at what to say.
"Sir Oersted, are you crying?" The Bow Hero was surprised.
Indeed, the knight was crying; he tried to wipe away his tears, looking at the others with an uneasy smile. "I'm sorry, it's just... this place reminds me of my home, which I haven't seen in a long time," he said, sorrow evident in his voice.
Naofumi gave the knight a sympathetic look, and even the Bow and Spear Heroes were starting to feel bad towards the knight; the latter placed a reassuring hand on the man's shoulder, trying to uplift him. "Don't worry, man. Once we help these people, you'll be on your way home," he said.
Oersted turned to the lancer with a dull look, gently pushing his hand away. "Easier said than done..." he murmured as he walked past the other heroes and the priests. "I don't have a home to return to." He said without looking. Everyone was silent, especially Naofumi, who was worried for the knight.
The Archer glared at the Spear Hero. "Great job, dumbass! You really know how to put your foot in your mouth!" He snapped, this angered the blonde, who shot back, "Hey! I didn't know! And besides, at least me and Shielder tried to help him. You just stood there, all high and mighty!"
Enraged, the Archer prepared his bow (Naofumi noticed a dim glow in his eyes.), while the blonde took a battle stance. The two stared each other down when Naofumi intervened, stepping between them.
"Come on, you two! I know you've just met, but can you at least try to act like adults?" he exclaimed.
The two stared at the Shield, then at each other, before lowering their weapons and saying "fine" in unison, The Shield wielder sighed in relief.
Before they continued, Naofumi asked, "Hey guy? Call me crazy, but don't you think Saber is acting a bit... off?" This made the Spear Hero turn to him, looking confused. "Huh? What do you mean?" he began, but the Bow Hero interrupted, clearly trying to annoy him.
"No, Shielder is right. I think there is something significant about him. Not only is he the only European among us..."
"(deadpan) Wow, a bit xenophobic, must?" the Blonde said, clearly mocking the shorter hero, but Archer wisely ignored him and continued. "... he is wearing armor, and he even claimed to be an actual knight.
They pondered on this, when the head priest interrupted, saying, "Forgive me, oh great heroes... but we need to get going."
"Oh right," said both the spear and the shield as they headed off, leaving Bow Hero behind with his thoughts. "Mmmh, yeah, let's go."
When the three reached the top, they found Oersted sitting on a wooden box, with a maid handing him a chalice, which he immediately drank from. He then turned to the others and nonchalantly asked, "What? I was thirsty."
Hope you all enjoy
Author Notes:
- Now the Four are summoned. Now the first few chapters are going mostly set up and character building,
- I want to develop the Oersted and Naofumi relationship before… things become complicated
I don't own Rising of the Shield Hero or Live a Live
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
