Hey everyone got a new chapter ready for y'all I hope you enjoy this I did have some trouble for this one I got what I want for the story but leading up to it is what making me have trouble because I don't want to have it all too drawn out but I also dont want it to be too short a story but let know what you think of this chapter
It was 2 weeks since the riders had taken up residence in berserker island they have been helping where they can so they aren't just freeloading they've helped with fishing and brought back loads of lumber with the dragons cutting the amount of work in half for the villagers. The villagers who were cautious about the dragons were over the moon for them now every time the riders and their dragons were in the plaza at least 3 villagers would ask to pet them, the riders even were given gifts as thank you from some villagers. As for hiccup he kept on teaching Astrid and fishlegs about blacksmithing they were slowly making progress by the second week they were trying to craft a weapon themselves, hiccup thought it best to start by making a dagger as their first test to see how much they've picked up. The village blacksmith was happy to lend his forge after he saw the complex equipment hiccup had created for toothless he even asked to look at some of hiccups plans if possible. At this time Astrid was doing her test when she finished hammering she went to quench the blade, It came out messed up, she brought the blade back over to the fire to start again when hiccup stopped her." Don't quench so quickly this time around, it becomes brittle if you quench too quickly not giving the time to remove the carbon from the solution to harden it" hiccup then moved so she could try again she proceeded to fix the knife then quenched it again but slower this time but this time it cracked and broke. Astrid looked at the dagger with sadness until hiccup came up again" don't worry we have all the time in the world to get this right remember I was training since I was 5 years old but you got the form of the dagger after a few months of me teaching you it takes time to get it right" hiccups words were able to lift her spirits as she put down the parts to let fishlegs try." Alright fishlegs you're next just remember what I told you patience" fishlegs nodded and went to work he tried to study from what hiccup showed them tho when he started to he accidentally heated the metal to much hiccup took notice of this but waited to say anything" hiccup put a hand on fishlegs shoulder as a way to say it's ok. He then faces both fishlegs and Astrid" other than that you both did well all I say is continue practicing you know how to get the forge started and how to clean everything up, you picked up safety quite well, now all you need is to practice you can come to the forge anytime you want to practice just remember what I told you both" he sternly said but he made it clear he was very proud of how they're doing so far. They both smiled as they went to leave to their dragons for a flight. The tailors were still making the riders disguises so far astrid and hiccup had their disguises. Astrids disguise was instead of her blue tunic she ask for a red tunic with two new armor pauldrons instead of having multiple spikes on the pauldron she had one singular spike on each shoulder she now had a pair of fur bands for her arms she wore a fur hood connected to her pauldrons to hid her face and in case she couldn't use the hood she had a face mask to cover enough of her face so no one will recognize her (it mostly covered up to her eyes) her spiked skirt no longer was lined with multiple spikes she now wore a regular fur skirt but she kept the same leggings and boots she wore before but dagur threw in a berseker symbol on her mask saying it would really throw someone off. Now hiccup had requested for a practical leather armor his tunic was relatively the same but he wore a leather chest piece with metal shoulder pads, leather leg gaurds with metal knee gaurds, he requested gauntlets that had some metal lining in it, finishing it all off by having a helmet covering his face, the main mask was split into different pieces, a piece for his mouth a piece for his eyes that way he could remove one without removing the other, he had a berserker symbol on one of the shoulder pads hiccup had said he wanted to take a more armored approach with his disguise.
When their disguises were done the tailor wanted them to try them on to make sure it all fit and the two were able to fit them comfortably. Though the other riders hadn't gotten their disguises they did draw up what they wanted to have. Fishlegs kept it simple he wanted a tunic similar to his current tunic but he requested one arm have an armored sleeve the way he will hide his face he had a face mask covering up to his eyes and a fur hat (think of a lumberjack hat) his leggings were to remain the same. Snotlout would ask for a green tunic with chainmail to surround the tunic he would also request turtle shells as arm guards, a pair of black pants with metal guards on the knees, he had a helmet that would cover most his face (imagine the berserker helmets) but requested like hiccup that the parts around his face be removable so he doesn't take his helmet of when eating. Ruffnut primarily had brown vest and yellow tunic a small hood connected to her vest, she asked for some spiked arm gaurds and points in her clothing where she could hide daggers, she also got a pair of grey pants with brown boots. Tuffnut had hiccup modify his helmet to cover most his face but he requested his clothes be a green tunic with a black vest he specifically asked for extra pockets to steal from people or places, he asked for arm guards no scratch that he begged for arm guards that held hidden flamethrowers but the tailor and even dagur told him it wasn't going to happen so he settled for compartments in the arm guards mostly to hide daggers, he had a pair of black pants and black boots the boots had a retractable blade on the heel he justifies it by saying you never have too many blades which dagur agrees while the tailor just shrugs.
The group had basically set up how their disguises would look so they now were waiting for them all to be completed so for te rest of that day the riders basically were trying to kill some time by doing a trick competition dagur and Oswald were watching as well.
The riders met up on a sea stack that was nearby not too far away so dagur and Oswald could watch but still far enough so that they still had enough room to do some of the crazier tricks.
Fishlegs started well not really started he just did a circle calling it a new personal best. The twins went next by have barf and belch surround themselves in gas and ignite it to create a spinning fire ball as they flew as they would hit sea stacks like they were a ping pong lout didn't really have much say in his turn when hookfang threw him in the air a caught him only to enter a tight fitting sea stack the basically started to grind his helmet on the rock afterwards hookfang dived into the water as snotlout was screaming while the other riders was wondering if he was gonna come back alive, hookfang ended the turn by lighting himself on fire and creating a giant fireball to explode then gently landing on the sea stack. Snotlout frantically checks himself "I'm alive?" he checks his helmet and punches the air" I'M ALIVE!" he then drops his face in between hookfangs eyes as if he had passed out. Astrid was next before she looked to hiccup as if she was challenging him personally "you might wanna take notes" she then takes off on stormfly starting of by dragging stormfly's tail in the water creating a cool splash then doing a quick spiral into the air as she had stormfly shoot spikes in all directions and then she leaped off stormfly and started to summersault around the spike that were near her like a gymnast and landed by grabbing stormfly's tail again. They then landed back on the sea stack everyone impressed and waiting in anticipation for what hiccup would do. He looked down to toothless as the dragon gave him a knowing nod "looks like we got our job cut out for us bud" he said as toothless prepared to launch. He began by doing a slow circle dive down the sea stack and doing a last second pull up to create an even bigger splash than what astrid did as he zoomed across the ocean toothless and hiccup proceeded to twist and turn until a sea stack came by that would have hiccup locking toothless's tail as he took his leg out the mechanism and jumped and ran over the top of the sea stack and jumped back onto toothless as he made a dive to the water. The pair entered the water and their audience waited to see what they would do next as they started to see a bright purple light being made under the water soon after they saw a plasma blast explosion with hiccup and toothless surrounded by the plasma fire as they exit the water. The riders on the sea stack looked in awe as astrid was the only one to be able to comment saying "they're still the best" dagur and Oswald was absolutely amazed by the show hiccup just displayed while they were in with the other riders tricks they were just fascinated with how hiccup pulled the water trick off. Seeing all the tricks made dagur consider trying to train his own dragon though he would have talk with hiccup about how it would be done he would love to train a skrill but he was pretty sure the berserkers hunted the species to extinction so he would have to keep his thoughts about it open.
After the competition the riders had spent some time feeding their dragons and decided it was a good time to actually discuss their travel plans after the meeting of the chiefs so they gathered at hiccups hut once more he had already spread the maps out on the table again each one labeled to the places he was able to get from johann. Hiccup didn't forget snotlouts comment about the rest of the riders not knowing much about the places he had maps to so he was prepared to explain at least a basic description of what he knew of the places. "so, hiccup what do you know about these places" astrid asked him as they all were taking their seats. hiccup stood up and began his descriptions. "well I only know of what johann had told me when he was on berk so Constantinople is mainly a trade city you can find different types of groups around this place making different trades this place was in between europe and asia so we'll see a variety of things from both lands" he explains as he was pointing at the Constantinople map he was about to move the Caribbean but astrid had a question." So this is a trading port so does it have its own weapons or do they just go get weapons from the traders" she was mainly curious because of wanting to try some different weapons out." Good question astrid, and to answer your question from what johann had told me they have these weapons called cannons and muskets these weapons are like our crossbows but its a lot of more powerful johann didn't say much else about them than that" hiccup explained. Fishlegs was the next to ask a question." So what do they produce I know you said it's a trade port but do they supply anything themselves" he was just more curious about the culture than anything else. The twins and snotlout didn't have any questions because they were wondering the same stuff snotlout because he wanted a new weapon and the twins wanted to know what they'll be stealing when hiccup heard that part he facepalmed before continuing to the Caribbean." So the Caribbean is actually an archipelago like here but the difference is this place is riddled with pirates but does have settlements that grow sugar, different fruits and cotton" hiccup explained when snotlout was the first to ask a question." So does the Caribbean have the same weapons like costantinople" he asks when hiccup facepalms again accidentally leaving a mark this time." Well the Caribbean is mainly inhabited by pirates so they have different weapons and equipment from many other cultures so…. Maybe" hiccup explained also waiting for more questions but surprisingly there wasn't any he then moved on to Egypt." Well now this place is Egypt you'd be surprised but its primarily deserts but there are areas that have vegetation and some mountain ranges the people here follow leadership they call pharaohs think of a village chieftain but they lead a way bigger village hell cities follow the commands of the pharoah" he finished before he was about to be asked the same questions he stopped them by answering them" now weapons, johann had shown me a weapon they use in Egypt before while he was docked it's a sword called a khopesh this weapon was primarily for slashing attacks but could be used effectively to disarm" hiccup continued. He moved on to rome next." Rome astrid and snotlout you two might like this place rome is actually an empire at this moment the most I know of rome is they are heavily militarized and is ruled by an emperor who that emperor is I don't know, but they primarily use heavier weapons and have heavier armor the soldiers from what I know are legionaries and auxiliaries the most I could say after that was that rome is the capital of Italy" he moved on to Japan." Japan is an interesting one now because this place has uses a code called bushido the warriors are called samurai these warriors wear a specific type of armor it helps them be light on their feet and just as deadly but the only weapon I know of is the katana there is also some information that there are dragons in japan but some think they are all tall tales" hiccup was excited about seeing new dragons but then noticed snotlout asking about what kind of stuff they have like food astrid asked about what type of clothes they wore which kinda surprised hiccup." Well johann had told they primarily eat a lot of sea food so like shrimp fish clams anything like it. And for clothes they primarily use clothes called a kimono you can design how you like though" he then moved onto Africa which was one of the biggest maps." Africa is a bit more interesting going from the different species of animals but there is a specific river that actually leads into Egypt so if we go to Egypt we could go straight here after wards but the people has a variety of foods here I bet snotlout will love to try but johann never told me what they were specifically weapons wise they would heavily use throwing knives but they did have an assortment of swords aswell depending on the group or area" hiccup had went through everything that he knew about these places now he was waiting to hear what everyone was thinking. Astrid was the first to speak" well it would be interesting to try going to costantinople we could see more where johann goes when hes not in the archipelago" fishlegs than made a point" it would also be nice to see the traditions of Japan or Egypt tho plus the thought that we could see different dragons in Japan is enticing as well" snotlout was next" im more interested in rome I wanna see what they use for weapons and see this whole empire with my own eyes" ruff and tuff was next" we'd like to try the Caribbean do you have any idea how awesome it would be to see pirates for ourselves especially when this place is crawling with them that means we can get all kinds of loot from them" everyone else facepalmed at their reason. Everyone was still discussing when dagur came in." hey guys discussing traveling again I see" he was honestly jealous they were going to different lands while he would be stuck on berserker island he loves his dad and will gladly lead his people but damn what the riders are planning sounds like a lot of fun." Hey dagur what brings you here" hiccup was asking as the others were still discussing snotlout was coming around to Constantinople and the twins were considering Japan." Oh not much just checking up on my dear brother and his group" dagur was trying to hide him wanting to train a dragon but hiccup was able to see through it. "hmm let me guess you want to ask if we can help you train a dragon eh"dagur looked at him surprised he guessed it so quickly but then realized its hiccup they know each other way too well if it wasn't for them being different tribes you couldn't tell they were from different families." Ok you got me I do want to ask if you could teach me to train a dragon" hiccup looked amused." Well I think we could help but we could go on with finding you a dragon after the meeting" dagur was a bit disappointed he had to wait that long to get a dragon but he was excited to train one. After the two finished the other riders were done discussing as well and the two went over to the table with the other riders. Astrid was the one who let them know what they decided on." So we decided we could start at Constantinople and move to Japan we could go from there but we would like to see those places first" they all nodded in agreement hiccup was surprised seeing snotlout and the twins were really looking at loot so he assumed they would've gone for the Caribbean." Well when you all leave we could give you some supplies to survive off of" dagur offered and the riders were really happy about it but they decided they would take back up the topic when they actually plan to leave but they decided they would start talking dagur through the information about training dragons.
well there you go the fifth chapter I hope I didn't write the cultures or history of these places too badly I did a little bit of research on the places but I was trying to make it vague so if I didn't do the descriptions justice I do apologise but time to get to the next but first I'm going to bed.
