Chapter 1:
Toshiaki Nagashima is teaching his class how they are passed between generations from the mother's side of a family and their possible use for tissue regeneration through the liver.
His wife, Kiyomi, then came in. It was their anniversary.
...
"I'm sorry I forgot," says Toshiaki.
"It's alright," says Kiyomi, "you've been working hard."
"I will make it up to you," says Toshiaki, "I promise!"
...
But while traveling home, Kiyomi gets involved in a car accident...
"I think we just caused that car to crash," says Stu.
...
Kiyomi is now left in a coma with brain damage...
