Chapter 7:
When Nagashima and Yoshizumi arrive, they find Mariko has fainted and the creature is attempting to escape with her. The creature slowly leaves while setting people on fire as she moves through the hallways.
"This way," says Yoshizumi.

Nagashima and Yoshizumi attempt to use security doors to prevent the creature from escaping, so she moves to the roof with Mariko.
...
The kids look at the roof and can vaguely see Eve.
"What do you think's going on up there," asks Chuckie.
...
Nagashima and Yoshizumi make it to the roof. "Kiyomi," says Nagashima, "please, let her go!"
"My form is a new evolution, and Mariko will bear the real Mitochondrial Eve," says Eve.
"Kiyomi, I know there's still a part of you that loves me," says Nagashima.
"I merely controlled all events in Kiyomi's life that led to this point, including manipulating her to fall in love with you," says Eve.
Nagashima refused to believe that. "Kiyomi..." He them moves forward as Eve causes him to burst into flames.
...
The kids see the flames. "We should call someone," says Chuckie.
"Who," asks Dil, "the Fire Department or the Ghostbusters? Wait, they both live in firehouses."
...
Nagashima continues forwards and embraces Kiyomi, and they both erupt into flames.
