The Next Morning
Abhijeet hurriedly stuffed files into his bag as the clock ticked closer to 8 a.m. He had already skipped breakfast and was planning to slip out before ACP Pradyuman descended to the dining table. His father's sharp eyes and unyielding questions were not something he was ready to face this morning.
From the kitchen, Priya called out, "Abhi, nashta toh karlo! Tumne kal raat se kuch khaya nahi hai."
Abhijeet slung his bag over his shoulder and called back, "Bhabhi, main late ho raha hoon. Bureau mein kuch khane ka time mil jayega. Aap Aarav ka dhyan rakhiye."
Priya walked to the dining room, holding a plate of parathas, her brow furrowed. "Abhi, ek din ka kaam tumhare khane se zyada important nahi hai."
Before she could continue, Aarav appeared, rubbing his eyes. "Abu chachu, jaa rahe ho?"
Abhijeet's heart melted at the sight of Aarav, his tiny figure clutching a stuffed dinosaur. He crouched and ruffled the boy's hair. "Haan champ, lekin tum meri liye kuch banate ho toh main ruk jaata hoon."
Aarav's eyes lit up. "Parathas mere favourite hai!"
Priya smiled faintly at their exchange but noticed Abhijeet glancing nervously toward the stairs. "Papa neeche aaye toh phir tumhe dher sari baatein sunni padegi, hai na?"
Abhijeet straightened and grinned sheepishly. "Exactly, bhabhi. Papa aur unke questions se pehle nikal jaana hi better hai. Main chalta hoon."
As he reached for the door, Manoj stepped in, his uniform pristine as always. "Abhi, ruk kahan jaa raha hai? Papa neeche aa rahe hain."
Abhijeet groaned softly. "Great timing, bhaiya. Aap bhi breakfast karein, main bureau ke liye nikal raha hoon."
Manoj chuckled, slapping his younger brother on the back. "Tu hamesha bhaagta kyon hai? Samne se confront karne ka courage rakh."
Abhijeet smirked. "Bhaiya, CID mein bravery dikhata hoon. Ghar mein nahi." With that, he dashed out of the house, just as ACP Pradyuman's voice boomed from the top of the stairs. "Abhijeet!"
But the door had already closed.
At the Bureau
Abhijeet walked into the bureau and was greeted by Daya, who had been waiting at his desk. "Aaj late kyun hai? Case ki files ready hain?"
Abhijeet placed his bag down and sighed. "Late kyun hoon? Papa ke speeches se bachna tha, aur tum jaante ho unka routine, sharp 8:15 pe dining table ke paas aa jate hain."
Daya chuckled. "Toh ab ghar ke rules se bhi CID training chal rahi hai? Kya din aa gaye hain."
Abhijeet shot him a look. "CID ke alawa bhi ek life hai, Daya. Lekin woh ACP sir ko kaun samjhaye?"
Daya leaned in. "Aur sirf ACP sir? Ya ghar ke ACP papa bhi?"
Abhijeet smirked and shook his head. "Chup kar, kaam pe dhyan de. Files discuss karni hain."
The two spent the next hour reviewing the case details. The human trafficking racket seemed to have deeper roots than initially thought. The evidence Abhijeet had gathered pointed to an organized crime syndicate with connections across state borders.
Abhijeet rubbed his temples, staring at the board full of pinned photos and notes. "Yeh network itna bada hai ki ek gang leader ko pakadna sirf shuruat hogi. Lekin ACP sir ko kaise samjhau ki humein aur evidence chahiye?"
Daya patted his shoulder. "Tu koshish kar. Sir strict hain, lekin jab tu apne baat pe tikta hai, woh sunte hain."
Abhijeet sighed. "Koshish karunga. Lekin agar unhone meri baat nahi mani, toh yeh pura case khatre mein pad sakta hai."
Later That Evening – At Home
Abhijeet returned home to find Priya feeding Aarav in the living room. Aarav spotted him first, his face lighting up. "Abu chachu, aap aa gaye!"
Priya glanced up. "Abhi, dinner ka time ho gaya hai. Khaana ready hai."
Abhijeet dropped his bag on the couch and crouched beside Aarav. "Kya ho raha hai champ? Aaj din kaise tha?"
Aarav grinned, his mouth full of food. "Main school gaya aur maine ek lion ka drawing banaya."
Abhijeet widened his eyes dramatically. "Lion? Wah, ek din mujhe bhi dikhana, theek hai?"
Priya interjected softly. "Abhi, tumhe kuch serious baat karni hai? Tum thake hue lag rahe ho."
Abhijeet sighed, rubbing his neck. "Bhabhi, case complicated ho raha hai. Main ek angle explore kar raha hoon, lekin sir—mera matlab, papa—nahi maan rahe."
Priya placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Papa ka tareeka alag hai, lekin tumhare facts strong hote hain toh woh sunenge. Tum bas apne instincts par bharosa rakho."
Abhijeet nodded but remained silent. Aarav tugged at his arm. "Abu chachu, mujhe sula do."
Abhijeet smiled faintly. "Theek hai champ. Aaj main tumhe ek kahani sunata hoon."
The Confrontation at the Bureau
The next day, Abhijeet presented his findings to ACP Pradyuman, Daya, and the team. His voice was firm as he outlined the scale of the operation. "Sir, yeh sirf ek gang nahi hai. Yeh ek organized crime syndicate hai, jo multiple cities mein kaam kar raha hai. Agar humein leaders ko target karna hai, toh mujhe aur resources chahiye."
ACP Pradyuman's face remained stern. "Abhijeet, tum hamesha chhoti baaton ko bada banane ki koshish karte ho. Humare paas abhi sirf ek gang leader ke baare mein information hai. Usse pehle kyun aage ka soch rahe ho?"
Abhijeet held his ground. "Sir, yeh intuition nahi hai. Yeh saboot ke upar base hai. Agar humne abhi action nahi liya, toh unka agla operation shuru ho jayega."
Pradyuman's voice grew sharper. "Intelligence ki baatein tumse zyada main samajhta hoon, Abhijeet. Tum apne kaam par dhyan do. Jo kaha gaya hai, wahi karo."
Abhijeet clenched his fists but nodded curtly. "Ji, sir."
As he left the room, Daya caught up with him. "Tu theek hai?"
Abhijeet exhaled, frustration evident on his face. "Daya, mere paas saboot hai. Lekin agar papa nahi sunenge, toh mujhe aage kaise badhna hai, yehi samajh nahi aa raha."
Daya placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Tu hamesha solutions nikalta hai, Abhi. Tujhe apne instincts pe bharosa rakhna hoga."
Abhijeet's jaw tightened as he glanced back at the conference room. "Yeh case personal ban raha hai, Daya. Main un logon ko expose karke hi rahunga."
