ASSASSINATION

Bakugo carefully poured gunpowder from a flask into the barrel of a musket. He sneezed, spilling powder everywhere, and grumbled as he emptied it out and tried again. He tucked a musket ball into a wad of cloth and jammed the whole assembly inside with a metal rod. After adding more powder to the flash pan, Bakugo braced the musket against his shoulder and took aim.

A black-clad security guard looked up at him, shouted, "Get down!" and leapt at Izuku. The man rammed face-first into Izuku's shoulder, shattered his glasses and his nose, and fell insensate at their feet.

Izuku looked down at the man. Bakugo's musket went off. The bullet sailed past his ear and took out the guard standing behind him.

"What down should I get?" Izuku asked the unconscious agent.

Bakugo brought out a crossbow. He pinned it to the ground with his feet and yanked with both hands to pull the drawstring back. He fit a bolt in place, aim, and fired.

Another agent spotted him and shouted, "Duck!" He rammed face-first into Izuku's arm and joined his coworker on the ground.

"Duck down?" Izuku asked. "Understood."

Izuku yanked a passing duck out of the air, an instant before Bakugo's bolt hit it. He yanked all its feathers out and let the bewildered waterfowl stumble free.

"Now what should I do?"

Bakugo shoved a cannon into place. He packed in a bundle of powder, shoved a cannonball in after it, tamped it all in place with a massive rod, then lit the fuse with his Quirk. Another agent saw the sparking fuse, leapt, and shouted, "Take cover!"

The man turned his face into a Dali painting, while the cannonball turned into a dinner plate on Izuku's chest.

Izuku found a pillow cover lying on the stage. He held it up and asked, "Now what?"

Bakugo dug a hole into the ground and put a mortar inside. He checked the wind with a wet fingertip, adjusted the angle, and loaded in a shot. As its fuse went off, another agent shouted, "Get inside!"

The agent valiantly crumpled into a cranial accordion as he attempted to shove Izuku out of the mortar's bombardment. As Izuku shoved all the duck down inside the taken cover, the mortar shell slammed into the makeshift pillow, bounced off, and crashed into Bakugo.

As Bakugo ragdolled into a pile of antiquated weaponry and unconscious agents, red shading darkened the screen, and the speakers said, "Mission failed, Agent 17."

Kaminari groaned and put down his controller. "Aww man, why is this level so hard?"

Jirou looked over. "Oh, that level? Yeah, you're supposed to lose that one. It's one of those forced loss missions for the story. You later discover that the politician's actually a robot, which is why nothing kills him."

"Oh." Kaminari looked at the screen again. "Isn't it supposed to go to the next level then?"

Jirou did a double take. "Wait, you died on that mission? Wow, you suck."
