Whitebeard sat out on deck, the sun barely shining over the horizon. They were in a summer place, so it was warm outside. As he was just enjoying the morning, he heard Haruta give a small gasp as she took something out of the newspaper. "It's here!" She said as she showed the wanted posters to Luffy and Sabo. It was 500 000 for Luffy, and 600 000 for Sabo. This would be exciting. When the two brothers came out a bit later, everyone had a smile, and while Luffy didn't seem to notice, Sabo did, and frowned a bit. "What's up?" Whitebeard chuckled. "Your posters came." He said as he motioned to Haruta, who still had them, and showed them. Sabo just chuckled as he took and looked at it. But Luffy, he gave an excited scream as he looked at it. "Yes! I got a poster! Yes!" Luffy was very excited, he had waited very long for this so he got it. Luffy then spent the next hour showing it off with a huge grin, being so happy. It made them all smile and be excited with him.

After some hours, Ace appeared, and Luffy instantly hugged him. "Ace!" Ace chuckled. "Hey. You got the posters?" Luffy nodded and smiled. "Yes! We did! I love them!" Ace chuckled. "Good good. How have you been?" Luffy seemed too excited to speak, so Sabo spoke. "Good. Ann visited, but you knew that. And, we're learning a lot." Ace nodded. "That's really good. But still, I want you to train one more year, not set out this year." Sabo nodded. "I know, and it is fine." Luffy pouted a bit. "I know, but I want to set out this year!" Ace shook his head. "The world is dangerous. You need more training. And as I said, if you find anyone, they can join you." Luffy smiled at that. "Yes!" He did wonder if they would find someone who would join them, and he felt it was a good compromise. He would be open to having some to join him for a bit to set out with the two. They needed a crew. Ace then stayed a bit, before he left again.

The next day, Whitebeard sat out on deck, when Jozu came towards him. "Hey, Pops, we're soon heading into a place where Devil Fruits don't work again." Whitebeard nodded. "Okay. Is it a dangerous place?" Jozu shook his head. "No, not really. I am just thinking about our new members, specifically their brother." Yes, that was true. Ace would want to know before they headed there. The captain nodded. "How long? Until we're there." Jozu hummed. "About 3 days." Whitebeard nodded, and would speak with Sabo. "Okay, thank you for telling me." Jozu said it was no issue, and when Sabo came out, he said where they would soon be, and it had Sabo sighing. "We should probably tell Ace." Whitebeard nodded. "We will do it tomorrow." That sounded good in his mind. Sabo nodded. "Yeah. He can be so overprotective at times. He would want to know." That was what he thought as well.

The day then went on, before a cloud of black smoke and he expected to see Ace, but no, a stranger stood there with Dust on his shoulder. Why was he here? The stranger, who had silver hair, looked to be in his thirties, had a calm look. "Who are you, and why are you here?" Asked the captain. The man hummed. "Here for Luffy and Sabo. Ace was worried. And I am Trevor." He was about to speak, when Luffy came around a corner with Sabo, and Luffy gasped, before he ran to the man. "Trevor!" Trevor lifted his arms. "Kids!" Luffy quickly hugged him, and Sabo smiled. "Hi, Trevor. Why are you here?" Trevor hummed as he let go of Luffy. "Ace is, as usual, worried. You're close to a place where no fruit works. You know how he is." Sabo gave a sigh. "Of course, I should have known. You staying?" Trevor nodded. "Yes, until you are a safe distance away, meaning Ace isn't worried you're heading there, without him or someone he trusts."

Sabo nodded. "I see. We were going to call him tomorrow." Trevor chuckled. "He was worried you wouldn't. So, I am here for a few days. Got some days off, awesome to spend it with you!" Sabo chuckled. "You're awesome though, so I don't mind." Trevor nodded. "Good. Ace is so damn overprotective." Sabo rolled his eyes. "Right! I keep telling him!" Trevor shook his head. "He will never listen. He is your older brother and will always worry." Sabo let out a breath, but nodded.

He then looked at the new person. "So, Ace sent you here?" Trevor nodded. "Yes, he did. Don't worry, you won't even notice I am here." Sabo gave a laugh. "Hah!" Trevor chuckled, "Okay, may have been a lie." Sabo chuckled. "You're awesome though. I am sure no one will mind it." Trevor hummed, moving his arms over his head. "That, and if they did, they need to answer to Ace. That keeps most on their toes." That he got, he was scared to anger Ace even. He looked at Trevor. "So, Ace trusts you?" Sabo gave a small chuckle. "Don't know why he does, you're a damn liar." Trevor gave a look to Sabo. "Well, yes. But not to Ace. Do remember, he is a lie detector most times." Sabo lifted an eyebrow. "And yet, you have lied to him, a lot." Trevor nodded. "And I've paid a lot for it. If he catches you, you will regret it. But yes, I still do it now and then." How the man dared, was beyond him. Ace was so terrifying.

He looked at the man. "So, how long will you be staying?" Trevor hummed. "How long until you're… 4 days away from this phenomenon?" Whitebeard blinked. "I don't know." Trevor nodded. "And that is for you too. I am staying until Ace says okay to leave." Made sense, so he nodded. Sabo frowned a bit. "How many days did you get off?" Trevor hummed. "Until Ace says yes to leave. Daisuke has no real power over him. If Ace listens, it is because he wants to listen." Whitebeard frowned a bit. "Who's Daisuke?" Trevor hummed. "My boss. Leader of the Red Cloud. He's pretty close to Ace, and us. Love him most times, but do hate him as well." Made sense. Sabo hummed. "He is your boss, you're supposed to hate your boss at times." Trevor hummed. "Well, yeah, you're right. But he is awesome as well." Sabo nodded. "I know. I like him. But you're more awesome. Not as… stern." Trevor chuckled. "When you're the boss of an assassin guild, you kinda need to be stern." That made sense. Sabo nodded. "Well, yeah. I get that." Trevor nodded. "So yeah, Imma stay here." Sabo smiled, seeming glad, and this would be interesting, having another assassin with them.

The day then went on, and it seemed like Trevor really liked the two kids, they seemed close. He must have watched them a lot. When dinner passed, and he sat still in the galley and most had left as it was a good day, he looked at Trevor. "How long have you known Luffy and Sabo?" Trevor hummed. "Years. Not that many, but some years. Ace needs someone to watch them now and then, and it is usually me. Sometimes it has been others, like Daisuke, or someone else." The captain nodded. "And Ann. We've met her a few times." Trevor nodded. "Oh yeah. But they are so much closer than what I am to them. She is basically a sister." Whitebeard nodded. "We have heard the same. She seems nice." Trevor nodded. "She is nice, but also hella dangerous. Don't piss her off, you will regret it. Only one I am more scared of is Ace." That made sense.

Trevor then stayed with them for a bit, until they were away. And they learned some things about him, that he also was an assassin, and he worked a lot with Ace. And the way he acted around Sabo and Luffy was nice to see, it really seemed like Trevor cared about the kids, and they seemed to look up to him, they seemed close, but not as close as Ann was with them, but close. When Trevor got the all clear to leave, Dust getting him, he hugged the two kids, before he left. This was a bit nice, to see different assassins, and learn more about them. He had never given them too much thought, nothing more than that they worked a lot and were stern, but they all seemed to be so nice. But he didn't doubt they could be stern as well. They were all strong.

But as they had had a visit from Trevor, a thought entered his mind, and Whitebeard looked at Sabo. "Did ever being an assassin or such pass your mind?" Sabo hummed. "I mentioned it once, as a joke. Ace almost punched me." They all blinked. "What!" Said Thatch, and Sabo nodded. "We are so not allowed to be assassins, informants, or mercenaries. Ace would never approve." Whitebeard blinked. "Why not? He is one." Sabo nodded. "The reason we are not allowed. It's not an easy life." That he could get. They faced a lot of backlash and dangers. Sabo sighed. "I am scared to lose Ace to his work. I almost did." Whitebeard blinked. He didn't like that sentence. "What do you mean?" Sabo sighed again. "Some years ago… he changed. Before, he was outgoing, trusting, and relaxed. Then he started to work and… well, he changed. I thought I did lose him, since he barely spoke, he trusted no one, not even us at a point, and he avoided everything. He never really recovered in my mind. He is a lot better, but he isn't who he once was. I get it. we grow up, we get to adulthood, but his road wasn't easy. He started way too young, and that placed its marks." That made sense. He didn't know Ace before, so he didn't know how Ace was before. He must have started young, really young.

Thatch moved his hand. "But… he is so amazing." Sabo nodded. "I am not saying he isn't that. But he was more relaxed before." He felt Ace was relaxed, but that might not be the case. He would try and watch Ace a bit more closely. He did notice Marco looking thoughtful as well. Sabo made a small sound. "You've never really seen Ace without us, and that, I have heard he is a bit… different without us around." That was true, he never really had seen Ace without his two brothers around. He could only think of one time, and that was when they asked for his help, But he was working then. He really wanted to see the real Ace now, to see how he was. But he didn't know how to make that happen. He would just try and keep an eye out.

Izou looked at Sabo. "Is Ann like that as well? How long have you known her? She seems… relaxed." Sabo nodded. "She is. She is also like really flirtatious. I've known her for some years, she is so amazing as well. She really knows how to fight, how to hold herself, and uses her mind before she does anything. She is amazing. But she could be more relaxed as well, but she's better than Ace. I wish he could learn from her." That made sense. He hadn't seen much of her, just met her a couple of times, and she seemed smart. And he had read the news about her, she really knew what she was doing it seemed like. Thatch moved his hand a bit. "I wonder, does she kill? Or does she have someone to do it?" Sabo hummed. "She does. But she wants to play that she doesn't, so people don't think her to be strong, which she is." Made sense.

Thatch looked at Sabo. "I am very scared if someone will hurt you, and then Ace shows up." Sabo chuckled. "Most is that. He is also very scary when annoyed or mad, he is terrifying. But you get used to him after a while." People probably did. Ace was terrifying. He really hoped he would never make Ace mad at them. Sabo hummed. "If Ace ever scares you or makes you uncomfortable, just tell me and I will give him hell. I am not scared of him. But Ace is mostly kind to people he likes." Thatch blinked. "M-mostly?" Sabo nodded and gave a chuckle. "Just ask Trevor. He is utterly terrified of Ace at times. Trevor liked to push his buttons though. But again, he knows where the line is." The man must know that if he dared to play with Ace. "How…" Started Thatch. "How does Ace like that?" Sabo hummed. "He says he hates it, but deep down, I am sure he likes it a bit. Oh, he also calls Ace for Bunny." They all blinked. "B-bunny? Why?" Asked Izou, and Sabo hummed again. "Something along the lines of being one? I don't really know. He does his own thing." That was interesting.

Izou nodded. "So, Ace, who is terrifying when not mad, and Trevor tries to make him mad?" Sabo chuckled. "No, he is just playing around. He likes to have fun. I really like Trevor." That was good, Trevor did seem like a nice man. He also seemed to care for Luffy and Sabo as well. And Trevor had been around Ace for a long while, so he probably knew Ace well, they worked together, so Trevor knew both Aces.

Then things went on normally, nothing too special happening, but as they were nearing some new waters, and they were heading towards an island they hadn't been on for a long while, but was a neutral one, Ace showed up, and he looked at his brothers. "Okay, I have three choices for you." He said before anyone could say hello. Sabo gave a breath. "What's wrong now? What could possibly be wrong this time? We have met none, we have done nothing, we're just sailing." Ace gave a small look. "The island you're heading towards. You're not going there. So, choice 1: You come with me, and then return when they are heading away. Choice 2: You make the captain change his course. Or choice 3: I will join you." Sabo moved a hand to his face. "Ace! Can you try and not be overprotective for 5 seconds! It is just an island!" Ace gave another look. "Which is at war. You're not going there without me, or at all." Sabo shook his head. "So, everytime we're heading towards a dangerous place, you will just show up and take us away? How can we learn then!" Ace sighed. "You can learn, but not at that dangerous places." Sabo just moved a hand to his face as he shook it.

Luffy then piped in. "But, they will keep us safe!" Sabo nodded and looked at his older brother. "Yes, Ace. They are keeping us safe." Ace looked at Sabo. "Yes, I know. But you're not going there!" Sabo shook his head. "We are!" Ace shook his head. "Then I'm joining you!" Sabo sighed. "Can't like, I don't know, Trevor join us?" Ace blinked. "Why is he better than me?" Sabo shrugged. "He isn't as overprotective! If anyone even looks at us funny, you kill them! How are we going to be able to set out if you keep us from roaming free!" Ace gave a look to Sabo. "I am trying to keep you safe!" Sabo moved his hand a bit. "Newsflash! The world is dangerous! That's how it is!" Ace gave a small sound. "I am trying to let you off easy! Right now, I want to keep you safe!" Sabo nodded. "I know! But guess what! We're adults now! Let us make mistakes! If it gets too bad, we will call you."

Ace moved his hands to his face, before he removed them. "Can you promise me that? That you will call if anything happens?" Sabo nodded. "Yes, I will. We will. Believe me, they don't want to see you mad." No, he didn't. So, he would keep Ace updated. Ace nodded. "Okay. Call the moment you feel unsure. I don't care if you only feel a little. Don't wait to call me, I will be ready, okay? Promise me." Sabo nodded. "I promise." Ace sighed, but nodded. "Okay. Have safe travels, okay?" Sabo nodded and gave a smile. "Yeah, we will, Ace. Bye." Ace sighed again, and gave a hug to his two brothers, before he left.

When he was gone, Sabo looked at him. "We're not gonna call Ace. Okay?" Thatch moved his hand. "What if things go south?" Sabo hummed. "Then things go south. I am sure you would never let anyone hurt any of us on purpose. We're all together now. We can handle this." Whitebeard felt unsure now, and Sabo sighed. "I sometimes hate being his brother. People are so afraid of him." He was really afraid of Ace. He was terrifying.

They then headed to the island, and he could see the island was tense, and he got from the inhabitants that they were currently at a war, but it seemed to be ending, and the dock wasn't the worst place to be, it was on the other side of the island, where the war really was going on, between an island on that side, not this side. So, nothing bad happened, and they didn't stay for too long, seeing how tense the island was. He did offer to help them, but it was declined, as the island felt that might make things worse, and he got that.

They then sailed on, and after a week, Ace showed up again and was glad to see his brothers. Ace really cared for them. Ace then stayed for a small while, before Ace hummed. "Oh, I need to leave." Sabo frowned. "Why?" Ace shrugged. "I left a lame excuse on the oven. Bye." Then Ace left with his powers, and Sabo chuckled. The captain looked at Sabo. "What did he just say?" Sabo hummed. "He is like that, he thinks most excuses are so lame, so he just says that. He doesn't even bother with coming up with something believable now." That made him blink. Ace was a curious person. He really wished Ace would have joined them as well, but he got it. He was an assassin, and he didn't want to put them, or his brothers, in more danger than they already were. He really hoped nothing would ever happen to Luffy or Sabo, not only since he didn't want them to be injured or scared, they were family, but since he knew Ace would be mad most likely. And if the captain was honest, he was terrified to anger Ace. So, he hoped that would never happen.

And that's the chapter!
