We didn't stop running. Ichigo led the way, his hand clenched tightly aroundZangetsuas we weaved through the endless white halls ofLas Noches. The walls stretched like an endless maze, silent but suffocating. The air was thick withreiatsu, dark and oppressive, and I knew it wasn't just Grimmjow watching us now—something bigger was coming.
"Can you feel it?" Uryu said, his voice sharp. "There's morereiatsugathering up ahead."
Ichigo growled under his breath. "I don't care who's waiting. We're finding Orihime."
His words kept me going, even as my legs burned and my chest ached from running.Don't fall behind,I told myself. I wasn't going to be a burden. Not now.
Suddenly, a deep rumbling sound echoed through the walls, vibrating through the ground beneath our feet. The hallway ahead of us began to shake, and then—
"Look out!" Chad's voice boomed as the ceiling shattered above us.
I barely had time to scream before a massive figure dropped down, landing with an earth-shaking crash that sent dust and debris flying. I coughed, stumbling backward as the dust settled. A giant Hollow-like creature loomed in front of us, its mask elongated and cracked, its claws twitching with anticipation. It was easily three times Chad's size, itsreiatsuoppressive and wild.
"Another one?" I gasped.
"No," Uryu corrected, his Quincy bow already glowing as he drew an arrow. "It's worse."
The creature let out a guttural roar that shook the walls before lunging straight at us.
"Scatter!" Ichigo yelled.
We dove in different directions as its massive claws smashed into the ground where we'd been standing moments before. Ichigo didn't hesitate—he launched himself at the creature,Zangetsuslicing through the air as he roared, "Get out of our way!"
The creature turned on him instantly, swinging one massive claw. Ichigo barely blocked, the impact sending him skidding back across the stone floor.
"Chad!" I yelled.
Chad was already moving. His massive arm glowed with energy as he rushed the creature, punching it square in the side. The blow echoed like thunder, and the creature staggered, its mask cracking slightly.
Uryu fired arrow after arrow, each shot hitting its joints and weak points, but the creature refused to fall. It roared again, swiping at Chad, who dodged just in time.
"This isn't working!" Uryu shouted. "It's regenerating too quickly!"
"Then we'll hit it harder!" Ichigo growled, hisreiatsuflaring.
I gripped my sword tightly, my hands shaking as I looked for an opening. I couldn't stand here and watch—I had to help. My mind flashed back to Kisuke Urahara's words before we left:"Trust your instincts. Fear will get you killed. Courage will keep you alive."
Taking a deep breath, I sprinted toward the creature.
"What are you doing?!" Uryu shouted.
"I've got this!" I called back.
The creature turned toward me, its glowing red eyes narrowing. I felt itsreiatsuhit me like a wall, but I didn't stop. I slid under its swinging claw at the last second, its sheer force ripping into the ground. Before it could react, I slashed upward with all the strength I had, my blade cutting deep into its leg.
The creature shrieked and staggered, black blood spilling onto the floor.
"NOW!" Ichigo roared.
Ichigo jumped high into the air,Zangetsuglowing with pure energy. With a battle cry, he brought the massive blade down, slicing straight through the creature's mask.
The Hollow let out one last, ear-splitting scream before its body disintegrated into nothing, leaving only silence behind.
I fell to my knees, gasping for breath. My whole body ached, my hands trembling as I clutched my sword.
"What were you thinking?!" Ichigo barked, storming over to me. "You could've been killed!"
"I..." I looked up at him, my voice shaking. "I couldn't just stand there. Ihadto do something."
Ichigo's expression softened slightly, but his voice was still firm. "We're here to fight together, (Y/N). Don't try to take them on alone."
"Good work," Chad said quietly, offering me a hand. I took it, letting him pull me to my feet.
Uryu adjusted his glasses, his sharp gaze still assessing me. "Reckless, but effective. Just don't make it a habit."
I nodded, a weak smile pulling at my lips. "I'll try."
We regrouped quickly, knowing there was no time to waste. The fight had cost us energy, but we were still moving forward—closer to Orihime.
But as we pressed on, that feeling of being watched returned. A chill crawled down my spine, and I found myself glancing over my shoulder.
And then I felt it.
That dark, suffocatingreiatsu.
"Oh no," I whispered.
"What is it?" Ichigo asked sharply, turning to me.
I didn't need to answer. A familiar voice echoed through the hallway ahead of us—smooth, mocking, and unmistakably dangerous.
"Looks like you're still alive, girl. I'm impressed."
The blood drained from my face.
Grimmjow stepped out of the shadows, his grin sharp and wild. His blue eyes glowed faintly as he looked at me—onlyme.
"Grimmjow," Ichigo spat, moving in front of me immediately, his grip tightening onZangetsu. "You again."
Grimmjow laughed, the sound dark and echoing off the walls. "Of course. I told you we'd meet again, didn't I?" His eyes flicked to Ichigo briefly before sliding back to me. "But this time, I think I'll see how your little friend fares on her own."
Ichigo bristled, hisreiatsuflaring. "You're not touching her!"
Grimmjow didn't even look at him. He pointed his sword at me, his grin never fading. "What do you say, girl? Ready to show me what you're really made of?"
I swallowed hard, forcing myself to meet his gaze. My hands shook slightly, but I raised my sword, my voice steady. "I'm not afraid of you."
Grimmjow's grin widened, his eyes glinting with something almost... excitement. "Good. Let's see if that's true."
He vanished.
"Move!" Ichigo yelled, shoving me aside just as Grimmjow's blade crashed into the floor where I'd been standing. The impact sent cracks spiderwebbing through the stone.
Grimmjow straightened, his expression wild as he turned to face me again. "Don't let him fight for you. If you want to survive, show me."
I felt my heart pounding in my ears as Grimmjow charged me.
But this time, I didn't run.
With a yell, I raised my sword, bracing myself for the fight of my life.
