Sabbaticals - 30 weeks
Monday morning, Brennan woke first and took a few moments to gaze upon her two sleeping bedmates. Booth was spooning his son, and they both looked very angelic as they slept. She hated that she had to do it, but she gently eased them awake because they had to get Parker home and get to the airport.
Everyone had decided that Rebecca would take the morning off from work, and she would take Parker to school at lunchtime. They were all concerned that trying to rush to say goodbyes early in the morning, with Parker going to school immediately after, was a bad idea.
So the three of them talked for a few minutes while they came fully awake. Brennan ruffled Parker's hair and kissed his forehead. "Are you going to be okay this morning Parker? I know it's going to be sad for all of us, but we really will be back before you know it." He nodded to her as he stared into her eyes. "Just a blip, right Bones?" She ran her hand down the side of his face and smiled at him. "Yes, Parker. Just a blip. You really are growing up right before our eyes."
He looked a little startled. "Am I taller than I was yesterday?" He put his hand up over the top of his head and Booth chuckled behind him. "No son. I think what she means is that you are acting like a grown up. You're not a little kid anymore." He looked back at his dad. "I AM grown up. I'm not a kid anymore!" Brennan smiled at him and got up off the bed. "You two can discuss that while I take a quick shower. When I'm finished, you guys can hop in there and I'll make us some breakfast. How does oatmeal sound? I think that's pretty much all we have left." Parker sat up and jumped from his knees on the bed. "Yes! I love oatmeal!" Brennan smiled at him and headed to the bathroom.
They got through the morning pretty easily, and had time to sit and enjoy their breakfast. They talked about resuming the Sunday video calls starting the next weekend. Brennan would join them, but couldn't stay too long since it would be so late in her time zone. They were both pleasantly surprised that Parker was in good spirits and seemed to be taking their imminent departure fairly well.
They added the last items into her suitcase and his duffel bag, checked to make sure Parker got everything into his backpack, and they were out the door. When they arrived at Rebecca's house, she met them at the door and was pleasantly surprised to see Parker smiling and holding Brennan's hand as they walked up to the porch.
They had enough time for the four of them to sit around the dining room table and talk about their weekend. Rebecca reached out and rubbed her son's back. "Parker. I'm so proud of you for how well you are doing this morning. I know you will miss Temperance and your dad, but you know, they really won't be gone that long." Parker looked up at his mom. "I know. Dad says it will be just a blip."
Rebecca looked at him quizzically. "A blip?" "Yeah, mom. He said it's like when I get out of school for summer vacation. And you tell me I have to clean up my room before I can go out to play. It might take a really long time - maybe two hours! That's a long time, but then I still have three months of summer vacation to go out and play. So cleaning my room is a blip. And the time that dad and Bones will be gone will be a blip because we have the whole rest of our lives to be together!"
Rebecca looked across the table at Booth. "That's a very smart way to think about it Seeley. I guess being with a genius is rubbing off on you." She smiled at Brennan sitting next to her and gave her a wink. Booth laughed and gave her a mocking grin. "Nice Rebecca. But wait till you see what Bones gave him to help ease him through the next four months." He looked over to his son. "Go get your calendar Parker." Parker ran over to his backpack and pulled the calendar from the front pocket. He opened it up, set it down on the table and showed it to his mom. "See, she marked the pages for January, February, March, and April. And she drew different colored stars all around May. That means it's the month they're coming home. When they know for sure what day it is, I can color in that square so I know it's the day."
Rebecca smiled at him. "That was really nice of her to do that for you." Parker turned the pages back to January. "And see. Every morning, I draw an X on the day before so I know it's one day closer for them to come home. Oops! I forgot to do my X this morning!" He jumped off the chair and ran back to his backpack. He had the black Sharpie in his hand when he returned, and emphatically drew an "X" in the January 2nd box. "See mom? I get to do this every morning."
Rebecca looked over at Booth and Brennan and gave them a sad smile. "Thank you for helping him understand how quickly these next four months will go." She came up behind Parker's chair, wrapped her arms around his shoulders, and kissed the top of his head. "We're going to be so busy with school, and homework. And we'll plan activities for the weekends. Plus, in a couple of months it will be time for baseball practice to get ready for your season. But we'll be so excited when May comes and we know they'll be home soon, won't we Parker?" He looked up at her and nodded his head eagerly.
Booth looked across at Brennan sadly, and stood up. "We have to get moving if we're going to catch our flight." The mood in the kitchen suddenly changed. Parker got up from his chair and Brennan walked over to him. She squatted down so their faces were level and put her arms around his shoulders. "I'm going to miss you Parker. But we'll be home before you know it. Don't forget to work on that list of things for us to do when we get back." She looked up at Booth. "Your dad and I will be making our lists too."
Parker threw his arms around her and they hugged each other tightly. "I love you Bones!" She looked at his tear stained face and her tears began to fall. "I love you too Parker." She hugged him tightly again, and then kissed his forehead before letting him go.
As she stood up, Booth squatted down and Parker ran over to him. They shared their own tight hug and when Booth pulled away slightly, he looked into his son's eyes. "Don't forget. Just a blip. And when we get home, we are going to have such a great life together with Bones." Parker nodded his head through his tears and Booth now had tears on his face. "I love you son." Parker hugged him again. "I love you dad."
Brennan walked over to Rebecca, who also had tears running down her cheeks, and gave her a tight hug. "Thank you for everything you did to help us have such a wonderful Christmas." Rebecca sniffed as they disengaged from the hug. "Just having you both here was all he needed. Everything you did with him made it even more special. Take care of yourself over there." Brennan nodded to her and Booth came over to give Rebecca a hug and thank her for everything. "You take care of our boy." Rebecca smiled through her tears. "And you be careful over there. No typical Seeley hero stuff!" He chuckled. "I promise." He looked across at Brennan. "I already promised Bones the same thing."
All four of them walked out onto the porch and Parker received hugs once again from both Brennan and Booth before they walked down the sidewalk to the car. As they drove away, they were both waving wildly out their side windows. Rebecca stood behind Parker on the porch with her hands lightly on his shoulders while he waved them off.
Both Booth and Brennan were sniffling as they drove away. He stopped at the stop sign at the end of the block and looked over at her. She grabbed his right hand and brought it up to kiss his knuckles as she looked into his eyes. She didn't release his hand, but held it with both of hers in her lap as they drove toward the airport.
They arrived at the car storage facility, which was just outside the airport complex, to put it back in storage for the next four months. They were able to take a shuttle van over to the airport, and got there in plenty of time to get through security and find their gate.
Booth called Rebecca while they were waiting for their flight, just to make sure Parker was okay after they left. She told him that there were a few more tears, but she was proud of how well he handled their departure. When she dropped him off at school, he was excited to see his classmates again and couldn't wait to tell them about all he had done over the Christmas break. She told Booth that he and Brennan did a great job preparing Parker for their separation, and thanked him for making it easier for her to help him through the next four months.
The flight was comfortable, especially since Brennan had insisted on booking the tickets and booked them in first class. They spent much of the flight snuggling together and watching a couple of movies. It was midnight when they arrived at the London hotel, but it was only 7:00 PM in the time zone they had left, so they still had energy to burn. They ordered light meals from room service and eventually spent time breaking in the bed in their suite. After all, they had gone two nights with Parker sharing their bed, so there was a bit of pent up demand in the lovemaking area - they satisfied that demand - and then some.
They slept in the next morning, slowly easing into readjusting to the new time zone. Rather than get dressed to go downstairs for breakfast, they ordered room service and found a pair of comfy white robes in the closet to lounge in. While waiting for their food, they checked out the small balcony. It was quite cold, but they stepped out for just a minute to see the view. They were staying in the Marriott, right on the River Thames. The London Eye was just to the right of their balcony, and they waved to the people inside the pod that was slowly passing. Off to the left was Westminster Bridge, and just beyond sat Big Ben and the gorgeous Palace of Westminster, with Victoria Tower at the other end.
"Bones. You outdid yourself with this location. Let's explore today and try to find some of the places we visited when we were here together a few years ago." She started to shiver and wound her arm into his. "That will be nice. But let's go back inside. I'm freezing!"
Since it was too cold to do much walking, they decided to purchase tickets to the hop on/hop off tourist buses. Booth was disappointed that it was too cold to sit on the upper deck, but they enjoyed pointing out places they had seen on their previous trip. They decided to leave the bus at two locations. They took the tour at Tower of London and got to see the raven master and view the amazing Crown Jewels. And they left the bus again at Buckingham Palace.
They wandered around the area in front of the palace. They stood at the Victoria Memorial and enjoyed the view down The Mall. Brennan looked over toward Green Park and wished it was warm enough to wander through, but promised Booth that the next time they were there, they would explore Green Park and Kensington Gardens. They found a dark, traditional pub, and cuddled to warm up in a private wooden booth while enjoying some traditional pub fare.
After lunch, they braved the outdoors again and walked back to the bus stop. Brennan checked the map and suggested that they had seen the most iconic sites, so they hailed a black cab and headed back to the hotel.
By the time they reached their room, they were both tired and decided to get a nap to help with the jet lag. Booth talked her into stripping off her clothes before getting into the bed. She gave him a skeptical look. "Booth. I thought you wanted to sleep." He leered at her. "Yes, I'm too tired right now to do anything but sleep, but you know I sleep best when I can cuddle your naked body." She chuckled and climbed onto the bed with him and he spooned his body around her. They were both pretty much asleep the minute their heads hit the pillow.
Booth woke up a few hours later and slowly woke Brennan up by gently massaging her breasts. She smiled and rolled over to face him. "Hey." He smiled back. "Hey yourself." He went in for a long, deep kiss and pretty quickly rolled her on her back, hovering over her. "Mmmmm. Where do I want to start first? Any requests?" She gave him a sly smile. "My nipples could surely use some attention." He looked down at her full breasts with both nipples standing at attention. "Your wish is my command, m'lady."
They spent the next hour playing a game. They took turns making requests for various ways to excite each other's erogenous zones. "Blow softly in my ear, Booth." And her whole body started to vibrate. "Fuck my ear canal with your tongue, Bones." And his body reacted in a similar fashion. "Take just the tip of my cock into your mouth and slowly lick it like it was an ice cream cone." "Lick down the front edge of my hip on an angle in that spot that always sends me into a frenzy."
After an hour of taking each other to the edge, but neither one letting the other fall over the cliff, both of their bodies were humming. She was lying on her back, and he was kneeling between her legs. He lifted her hips to get a good look at her vagina. "Mmmmm. Mmmmmm. Looks ready." He smiled up at her. "Oh gawd, Booth. It's more than ready. My last request for this afternoon: I want it hot and hard. I'll take everything you've got." He got himself in position. "You got it m'lady. Once again, your wish is my command."
With that, he slammed into her, pulling a loud gasp from her lips. He pounded into her over and over again, while his powerful shoulders and arms kept her hips elevated to give him the best angle. The noises she was making were getting louder and louder, and he was grunting loudly with each thrust. All of a sudden, she screamed out his name and he felt her clamp down on him. As her body was twitching uncontrollably, a mantra was coming from her. "Oh my gawd, Booth. Oh my gawd, Booth. Oh, Booth. Oh, Booth." He pumped a few more times and her contractions finally sent him over the edge into an all encompassing orgasm. His vocals were less recognizable - mostly loud moans and unintelligible shouts.
He fell on top of her and the only sounds in the room were of the two of them trying to get their breathing under control. When he had recovered, he kissed her cheek. "I guess we won't be able to play that game when Parker's sleeping over." He laughed, and she started giggling. "It's nice to be so uninhibited once in awhile. But the silent ones, when Parker is in the next room, can be nice too. It's almost like a challenge to do it softly, a quiet intensity. I especially love it when you kiss me so you can muffle my scream into your mouth." He laughed. "Yeah. That's actually kind of fun. But, maybe, when we find a house, we can have our room far enough away from his so we can make a 'little' noise." She smiled at him. "We can try. We'll put that on our wish list."
A few hours later, they were in the lobby talking to the concierge. They were looking for a casual place to have dinner and he suggested a local Thai restaurant. At the word "Thai" they looked at each other and smiled. "Thai sounds great! Thanks for the recommendation Geoffrey." It turned out to be an excellent suggestion. They loved the food in the small local storefront and were excited to be able to try some dishes that their favorite DC place didn't have on the menu. They slowly walked back to the hotel, arm in arm, a little melancholy knowing they had just one more day together.
