Ch 72: Stop, Baby Time
"I'm sorry, you want us to build a what!?", Cho asked incredulously.
"A weather machine. This is a top priority.", Egin repeated as if it were a simple task.
Cho opens her mouth, closes it, opens it again, closes it again as she runs her eyes, sighs, then tells him, "We're already trying to build a secure base of operations on Pacifica, alongside several defenses around it to prevent more air-dropped villains from other countries."
"It's a good thing Japan stopped doing that weeks ago. I guess they ran out.", Hatsume said in a chipper tone.
Egon blew air between his lips at the thought and stated, "Or wised up as they realized that I was taking measures against them."
"Can you please explain why we need a weather machine?", Cho asked as she ran her hand through her already perfect hair.
Egon gave her a small look and then lightly sassed, "Since you clearly weren't watching the Sports Festival or news recently, a small flock of Vampyrs flew in and attacked during the awards ceremony. Luckily, it was dealt with quickly."
"Is that why there's one in the testing chambers?", Hatsume inquired while pointing a thumb back to the Creature Division where the Vampyr was held.
"If the Vampyr can leave the island using the jet streams, then there is no doubt that the dragons could, too. Also, it'll act as another layer of defense without having to use anti-aircraft turret ammo.", Egon explained his insanity.
"That makes more sense, but what is this other thing you put down? An Ocean Current Manipulator?", Cho asked while looking over the list of things that needed to be made.
Egon waved her question off and explained, "That's a future project. It's the same as the weather machine, but to keep the ocean life living in the island's waters. For now, they stay because we altered them to want to stay, but what happens with the next generation?"
"We didn't think about that, did we?", Hatsume awkwardly observed.
They all had a group sweat drop as Egon told them, "Just do your best to get it done. Quelaag and Ungoliant's kids are currently working on the villain infestation, so you shouldn't have to worry about frequent attacks. Once those machines are installed, Pacifica will finally be safe, and I will be at the world conference meeting to stand my ground and stake my place."
Just then, Hankoyō rushed into his office, and knowing that body language and hurriedly additude to break into his office during a private meeting, Egon knew something had gone wrong.
So, taking a calm demeanor, he asked, "Yes, what seems to be the problem."
Hankoyō caught his breath and began to explain to him, not very well, while approaching with something in his arms, "I, um, well, you see…I found a way to amplify an empty Splinter by using Sonic waves, putting it into a state of equilibrium between positive and negative charge and I-."
Egon groaned loud enough for him to stop, and he followed up by telling him firmly, "Just stop explaining and show me the result." Without saying anything else, he turned his body to him and showed him a small child that looked like a mini version of Izuku. Egon blinked at the child, then looked at the man as he asked in a deadly serious tone, "Please tell me that child isn't Izuku."
Hankoyō nods as the head scientist follows up with, "Will it wear off?", Hankoyō nods again as Egon wipes a hand across his face and finishes up by asking, "Can you fix it?!"
"Yes, but it'll take time.", Hankoyō finally tells him in real words.
Egin sighs as he takes the small boy, no older than Eri, into his arms and rubs his temples while saying, "Boy, I hope Inko doesn't find out, or she'll have a cow." just then, Cho and Hatsume are about to leave the room in this awkward situation, in walks between them the woman who was just spoken of. Egon saw this and went pale with cold sweat as he muttered to himself, "Shit."
