Super Science

Ch 98: Heavenly Presents

One slow but productive day at N.I.P., the serene silence and calm were disturbed by the sound of crashing, banging, and screaming. All of these come from one half-demon known as Dante. The huge devilish man would run around, run through doors, and hide under or behind something before racing out and continuing his panicked insanity.

All while screaming at the top of his lungs, "AAAAAAAH! IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE!"

Unsurprisingly, this caught Egon's attention, and he burst out of his office while yelling, "What in the name of science is going on around here?!"

"I'm not sure, sir. Dante has just been going crazy. Screaming and hiding under whatever he can while yelling, it's here, over and over again.", Hatsume explained while trying to avoid the huge man in his full demonic form.

After watching the man run about for a while longer, Egon finally managed to stop him, grabbing his tail and holding him back as he exclaimed, "Dante! Calm down! Get yourself together and tell me what got you in such a frenzy?"

Grabbing the man back and holding him off his feet, he screamed, "It's gonna kill me!"

This was all before dropping the man and running through Izuku's office door, causing a chain reaction of sounds to occur. Pete then ran out of the office in terror, and Dante whimpered like a dog as he tried and failed to hide his massive body under the teen's desk. In contrast, the teen sat in his swivel chair at the far end with a shocked and confused expression.

Looking in and seeing the chaos, Egon asked, "Who is? What is? Dante, you have to use your words.", Before he could question the half-demon some more, someone tapped his shoulder. Turning around, he saw Millicent standing there and told her, "This better be good, Milicent. I'm in the middle of trying to calm down a half-demon in Izuku's office."

"There's someone at the front door.", she told him simply.

Egon raised an eyebrow as he inquired, "Was I expecting someone? A meeting?"

Millicent shook her head and answered, "No, sir. I mean, he's just kind of…showed up out of nowhere. It's like he just appeared. I swear he wasn't there a second ago when I checked the cameras."

Thinking that the two events might be related somehow, he thought quickly and told her, "Okay, set up a meeting room, and I'll talk to him."

After a few minutes, Izuku and Egon set up a meeting room for their mysterious guest. Before they could invite him in, he appeared in the chair beside them that both didn't have their eyes on. After adjusting to the shock, they both sat down on the opposite side, awkwardly in the silence of the room that was outfitted with their most powerful and killing weapons, all hidden behind the walls, ceiling, and floor.

Finally getting a look at their mysterious guest, they say that he was…unique, to put it nicely. He was tall and well-built but sleek and slim. He appeared male, I guess? It was hard to say, as his facial structure was a merging of both male and female, but calling him male seemed to be the right choice. His hair was short, white, and so well kept that not one cow lick or stray hair was out of place. His suit was as white as his hair and just as perfect with no flaws. His eyes were golden and appeared to be like a cross. A radiant aura was always behind him, giving him an air of light, power, and purpose. It was impossible not to notice him or feel intimidated by his sheer presence! Overall, he didn't seem…normal.

After a long, tense, and awkward silence between the three of them, Egon finally broke the ice and asked, "Okay, I'm just going to break the ice. Mister, what do you want? You appear out of nowhere, looking whiter than snow and giving off this intense aura with that unamused yet initiated face. You asked to see me and Izuku specifically, so what do you want?"

"Do you know what I am?", the man began, speaking in a voice that held power and overlapped with many others, giving him an otherworldly vibe.

"An unusual guy? I don't know, what do you want me to say?", Egon chippered back.

Turning to the teen, the man asked again, "Do you know, young Midoriya."

Izuku narrows his eyes, trying to figure it out, but then they widen with a mix of shock and fear as he says, "You're…You're an angel!"

Egon shot his head at him and exclaimed, "What!? Izuku, don't be ridiculous. How can this guy…", only for Egon's laughter to fade as he looked back at the strange man and let his thoughts wander, making the lines cross and finally making him fall off his statement as he says, "Oh God, you're serious."

The angel merely raised a single eyebrow as if to say, 'Do I not look serious?' Egon sat back in his chair and asked nervously, "So then you know about our weapons in the room?", The angel nodded, and again, Egon asked in fear, "And I'm just gonna guess and say they have very little, if any, effects on you?" Again, the angel nodded, and Egon squeaked out, "Damnit."

"Then you know why I'm here.", the angel asks.

Egon thought momentarily, unsure of the answer, but then he remembered the whole thing about making a portal to hell and bringing a demon out of it. Looking up at Angel's stern yet calm expression, which gave the feeling he knew what he was thinking, Egon went with the only thing he could do in this situation: grovel.

"Okay, look, Mr. Angel, before you beat us to death with your harp or whatever—" Egon began.

"I don't use a harp to fight.", the angel corrected him.

"Oh, then what do you use?", Egon asked, hoping to change the subject and calm himself down.

The angel then reached behind his back and produced a silver sword engulfed in golden flames along its blade.

Egon and Izuku stared at the fantastic sword in shock, and the older man said, "Okay, that is significantly cooler and more sensible. But before you kill us with your flaming sword, at least hear us out."

"That's why I'm here.", said the angel as he made his sword vanish.

Egon gulped hard before rambling, "So it was an accident, honestly! We didn't know the first portal for us to open up would lead straight to hell of all places! We didn't even know it existed. And it's not like we would do anything, go in, or take anything. We just wanted to observe, honestly!"

"Not take anything?", the angel said suspiciously.

Egon sweat dropped and explained, "Oh right, I forgot about Dante. That wasn't our fault; we didn't expect him to come through! Another demon tried to attack, and we were trying to shut the portal down long before it got out of hand."

After hearing this, the angel grew unnervingly silent as he sat there and stared at the two men. This continued for so long that Egon began to sweat buckets, only for Izuku to finally break the ice.

Looking up at the large man, he asked innocently, "You're not gonna kill him or force us to send him back, are you?"

The angel closed his eyes in thought, and after a bit, he opened them back up and told him, "No. I merely came here to know why you've done what you've done. And now that I hear it, I see you're both telling the truth."

"Oh, thank the gods!", Egon exclaimed in relief. Only to get a death glare from the angel and correct himself, "Uh, I mean, God."

Then the angel looked towards the one-way mirror and said, "You may come out now, Dante. I will not harm you."

Dante opens the room door and peeks his head in, a look of pure terror on his face as he hears the angel tell him, "Heaven will allow you to stay on earth for as long as you live, so long as you cause no trouble or reveal what you are."

"Done.", he replied quickly before leaving just as fast.

"And as for you two.", the angel says to the two men, making their hair stand on end. Never return to hell unless permitted to do so by the Angelic Council.", he tells them in a no-nonsense tone.

"We don't intend to go opening up the gates.", Izuku assured him.

"And this goes without saying, but never open a portal to heaven!", the angel said in a threatening tone that held such power. It physically shook the very foundations of the facility.

"Noted.", Egon said in a small voice, ducking under the table.

"Very well, then I shall be off.", the angel said while standing up and making his way to the door.

"Wait!", Izuku suddenly called out before he disappeared. Feeling a bit awkward, Izuku retracted and asked in a much more meek tone, "Can you at least tell us your name?"

Turning to the boy, the Angel introduced himself, saying, "I am the high Seraphim of God. His right-hand angel, Michael."

With that, he walked through the door and into the hallway. The two scientists took a peek outside the door to watch him go but saw nothing there. He vanished just as quickly as he appeared.

After allowing the two of them to relax after such an ordeal, Egon told Izuku, "Tell the interdimensional team to be extra cautious. Don't breathe a word of this meeting."

"Got it.", Izuku affirmed before going to do as he was told.
