Ch 100: Brothers
Several weeks ago, before the Forest Training Camp Disaster
Goto Imasuji, otherwise known as the villain Muscular, sat in his Tartarus cell and replayed the events of his meeting with his alleged brother repeatedly. His kindness and genuineness all felt so foul and wrong when he remembered how he looked and talked to him, not like a monster, not like the corrections officers, not like the therapists who were only trying to rehabilitate him because it was their job, like…a person. It was so foreign that it felt wrong to him. But…nice. Should he really take up his offer? It may be his last and only chance to get out of this shit hole.
Only for a dark portal to open up and a man covered in hands to offer him a way out, a villain team to work with, and a single test to prove his metal. Muscular immediately agrees and steps into the portal, being introduced to the other candidates.
Sometime later, he and the rest of the would-be or seasoned villains stood at a mountain overlooking many hero students who were all training for their party ahead. Their only task is killing as many heroes and students as possible while keeping one student alive. Something that Muscular could do very well. And he was even more excited when he realized that this was the place where he killed some of his last victims, the Water House Douo. The kid was down there, and he thought it would be great to make his killing a complete set!
But then he stopped as this thought crossed his mind, and for the first time in his life, he asked if what he was doing was right, if he was justified in it. He felt his motility. He looked down at his hands, so full of calluses and scars and soaked in so much blood that they may as well be permanently colored crimson red.
Has one person's kindness really shaken his fundamental foundations to the core? Was one good soul all it took for him to reconsider? Why now? Why him? Why not anyone else? Others have tried, and sometimes it was genuine, but…why? It was all so confusing, and rubbing his hands through his face, he could only say one thing in response to his own questions.
"What the fuck am I doing?", he said aloud, which surprisingly caught the attention of his fellow criminals.
"What?", Tomura asked.
Realizing his statement had caught attention, Muscular stood with it and asked while looking at the palms of his hands, "What the fuck am I doing?"
"Standing there?", the lizard-like stain wannabe villain Spinner answered.
"Oh! You're a tree!", the sporadic two-toned villain Twice stated.
"Internal crisis?", the homeless burnt villain Dabi guesses on the mark.
"Are you rethinking my proposal?", the insane-looking schoolgirl villain Toga insisted while getting uncomfortably close, making a weird smile, and referring to allowing her to drink his blood.
"What the hell are you babbling about?", Tomua exclaimed before looking over to his butler and asking, "Kurogiri, what is he blabbing about?"
"No clue, young master.", Kurogiri answered while shrugging.
Finally finding his resolve, Muscular looks to his would-be leader and tells him, "I want out."
"What?", Tomura questions in a dangerous tone.
Walking up to him, his feet stomping and breaking beneath him, he looms over the smaller and unkempt man, repeating in an even more menacing tone, "I. Want. Out. Now!"
At first, Tomura was scared, but he found his nerve and fought back. He told Muscular assertively, "I don't think you quite understand the position you're in."
"No, you.", Muscular shot back.
But before Tomura could question what he meant, Muscular activated his quirk, grabbing hold of Tomura and Kurogiri and bringing them both to the end of the cliff, where he held Tomura out by his neck and Kurogiri under his foot by the neck brace holding him together!
Tomura struggled for a bit, but after realizing where he was, he told the man in a threatening tone, "I could rot your arm off right now!"
"And then you would fall to your death, but I have a good hold over your butler. Do you think he can save you before you fall? If you hit the ground from this height, there's no way they'll put your humpy dumpy ass back together again.", Muscular threatened back, releasing finger after finger as everyone else looked on in mixed reactions.
Tomura looked at the distance to the ground and the pressure being put on Kurogiri and told Muscular, "If you leave now, you'll have no place in the league. We'll send you right back to Tartarus."
"Fine with me.", Muscular said assuredly.
Coming to a mutual agreement, Muscular released the two villains. After collecting themselves, Kurogiri opened a portal that Muscular wordlessly walked through. When he came out the other end, he found himself in front of one of the Japanese police stations. With nothing left, he walked in and right up to the woman at the front desk.
"My name is Goto Imasuji, the villain Muscular, and I would like to turn myself in.", Goto said while holding out his hands to be cuffed.
A few hours later and within the N.I.P building, Professor Egon was sitting at his desk and taking a much-needed break of some fresh baker snickerdoodles, compliments of Inko, and washing it down with a tall glass of mammoth milk (don't ask). As he washed down the last cookie, he heard his phone ring. Picking it up after swallowing the remainder, he answered cheerfully, "Hello?"
Someone on the other end asked for him, and he answered, "Yes, this is him."
The person said something to him, and his entire good mood faded as he exclaimed, "He did what?!"
After hearing this, he disconnected the phone, slammed it onto the receiver, and groaned out loud, "Uck! Great! Now I have to pull all my strings to get him out! He better be thankful after this!"
Several Weeks Later
Goto sat in his cell, silently and quietly, for the first time since he's been incarcerated. He asked to use one phone call a month to call his brother and take up his offer, but since he "escaped", he wasn't allowed to do so. So now he sat in his cell with nothing but his regrets. If he had come to his revelation sooner, he could have been a free man and not trying to recollect good behavior points just for a single phone call. He was never going to get out of here.
"Goto Imasuji, you're being let out on bail.", A prison guard told him while opening the highly secure cell door, keeping him trapped.
Surprised, Goto looked up at him and said, "I'm serving a three-lifetime sentence without parole."
The guard shrugged and replied while leading him out, "Well, something changed, and you're being let out with bail."
"By who?", Goto asked as several armed guards walked him out.
"Some guy claiming to be your brother.", the guard told him as a flicker of hope ignited in Goto's heart.
After going through the many long and arduous hours of being released from custody and given what little possessions he had, he was finally released from the quirk-dampening collar. He was led outside, where his brother was waiting for him in his scientist's outfit and a pair of sunglasses. Goto began to walk, and then power walked up to his brother, happy to see someone for the first time in his life! Expecting a hug or a head pat, or just anything! Only for Egon's expression to grow increasingly and more irate until Goto was in range, and Egon raised his hand and punched him square in the head!
"You stupid, stupid little brother! What the hell is the matter with you!", Egon yelled as the man doubled over while holding his now throbbing head.
Everyone near the entrance of Tartarus gasped in shock at this sight, and some even readied their weapons to stop the criminal from attacking him! Only to be surprised as Goto got back up through tears and yelled back, "Don't yell or hit me, you ass!"
Egon grabbed his muscle shirt, bringing him down to eye level, and yelled back, "Don't you talk to your big brother that way! Here I am busting my hump to get you out, and you just break out?! Do you know how hard it was to get where you are?! I had to pull all my strings to make it happen!"
"I didn't break out; I was broken out by that emo guy covered in hands!", Goto yelled back in his face.
Egon released him and made a theatrical show. He stated, "Well, next time some creep offers you a chance that seems too good to be true, you say no!"
"How the hell was I supposed to know that?!", Goto argued with his arms out.
"Did your parents never tell you about stranger danger?!", Egon counters.
"My parents were dicks!", Goto yelled.
Their argument continued for some time after this. In fact, it went on for so long that they both moved into the car, which was driven away by the robot chauffeur, leaving the very confused Tartarus guards behind, wondering what in the world they had just watched.
After a long drive back to the facility, they both exited the car, still arguing, and entered the building while continuing to shout at one another. Their arguing and yelling had escalated, and they were heard from the outside even while approaching the building! Unsurprisingly, all the staff heard them and rushed out to see all the commotion!
"Woah, woah, woah!", Honey Lemon attempted to cool their yelling, but it did not work.
"STOP!", Cho yelled at the top of her lungs, finally silencing the brothers. After collecting herself, she asked, "Now then, it's good to see you back, Professor, and um…"
"Oh, sorry. Everyone, this is my younger brother, Goto Imasuji. I was going to introduce him in a meeting, but I guess this works.", Egon awkwardly introduced his brother.
"Good to meet you. Now, do you want to tell us what your two were yelling about so vehemently?" Cho greeted back while asking the big question.
"Well, that was…", Egon began to say until he stopped to think about it and tried again, saying, "That was because…", He stopped again to believe, only to reply, "Uhhhhh…I can't remember."
Goto rolled his eyes and snorted, "And you say I'm the stupid brother? We were arguing about…", He also stopped to think and tried again, saying, "About…", only to stop and give up much quicker while admitting, "I can't remember either."
All the employees looked at one another, then back at the two ridiculous brothers, and they all said in their heads, 'You two are definitely related.'
