Ch 108: A Slice of Humble Pie
Egon burst through the exit door on the rooftop with his brother and Pete right behind before immediately noticing two things. First, Otto was already up there. And second, there was an unidentified and unusual-looking helicopter attempting to land on his rooftop helipad. As Goto grabbed Pete before he could be blown away, Egon marched through the whipping winds to the octopus.
Once close enough, he shouted to Otto, "What in the bloody blue blazes is going on up here?! And who the hell allowed this eyesore aircraft to land on my helipad?!"
"I don't know, sir! It just showed up!", Otto yelled back, trying to anchor himself to the ground.
The helicopter finally landed and began to slow its wings down, allowing the two to talk a little less loudly but still had to enunciate.
"Why hasn't the automatic radio warning message been sent?!", Egon asked.
"It has; they ignored it!", Otto replied.
Shocked by this, he prompted, "Then why hasn't it been blown out of the sky?!"
"I don't know!", Otto exclaimed with confusion.
Unfortunately, their conversation didn't last very long. The helicopter finally stopped its blades, and the door opened to reveal a short but pudgy man with short, crazy brown hair in a three-piece suit. The man nearly tripped onto his face as he exited. After collecting himself, he opened the door and held it for another man to step out more elegantly.
The second man was younger than the first, probably around Egon's age, if not younger. He was wearing an even better-looking three-piece suit with a red plume on the right breast. His hair was black, short, and well-maintained. He had a full-face beard that was trimmed to highlight the definitions of his face, and sunglasses covered his eyes. He took a swig from a Martini glass and left it on the plane before walking out with a confident swagger.
He takes a few steps out, lowers his sunglasses, revealing his brown eyes, and puts them up after looking around, saying, "So this is the place, huh? Mine's still better."
Otto and Egon look at one another dumbfounded before looking back at the man, at which point Egon exclaims, "Uh, excuse you, but who in the hell are you?!"
The man walked up and passed him, saying in a snobbish tone, "I don't have time to talk to you; I'll just let myself inside."
Egon looked flabbergasted as he babbled out, "Excuse you, what?! You can't go inside, you wacko!", But the man continued walking towards the rooftop exit door, so Egon marched over to him and yelled, "Hey, don't ignore me!"
But then the klutzy and overweight man steps in front of him, blocking the way to the rude man, and frimley says, "Please get out of the way, you have no right to inhibit-."
But before he could finish that thought, Pete thought Egon was in trouble and attacked! He honked loudly and angrily as he jumped onto the man and clamped down on his nose! The man screamed in pain and fell to his butt while wrestling with the bird! Goto then matched over to the younger man, and before he could touch the door, he grabbed his head and held him off his feet!
The man tried to wiggle free but to no avail, so he threatened, "Hey! Unhand me, you gorilla! I have enough money to ruin you!"
Goto laughed and explained while turning the man around, "Ha! That money ain't gonna mean a lot when you're dead! I have enough strength to crush your head like a grape!" he threatened while activating his quirk.
"Easy Goto. Let's give them a chance to leave, then we can crush them.", Egon soothed his brother with a reassuring pat on his massive arms.
Goto glared at the man but ultimately left him unharmed. He walked back over to the first man and put him down beside him while Otto pulled Pete off the other man's face.
"Now I'm going to ask again, and this time, you're going to have a conversation with me. If not, then I'll throw all of you off the roof.", Egon threateningly told the two men.
"Ha! You wouldn't!", the younger man boasted, trying to call his bluff.
Only to see the two men and octopus cross their arms while glaring at them as the dodo hisses.
The fatter man was the only one to realize it wasn't a bluff. While wiping his nose, he whispered in concern to the younger man, "Sir, I think they're serious."
The younger man sighed in aggravation and asked, "Alright, fine. What do you want?"
"I want to know who the hell you are and what in the hell you think you're doing breaking into my facility! You're lucky we didn't shoot you out of the sky after ignoring our radio warning.", Egon demanded.
"Ha! You wouldn't!", the younger man boasted again, only to get the same response as last time, making him tense up a bit and say, "You would?", only to get three head nods as he still tried to play it off cool by stating, "Well it wouldn't be good for you, knowing who I am?"
"And you are?", Egon asks.
"You seriously don't know?", the younger man asks as Egon and Goto shake their heads slowly and menacingly. "I am Tony E. Stark, creator and owner of Stark Enterprises," Tony tells them with a groan as if it were obvious.
"Am I supposed to know or care?", Egon shoots back while raising an eyebrow.
"You should. He's a big deal in America.", the fatter man chips in.
Egon thought to himself for a moment before saying, "I thought your Japanese sounded sloppy. And who is your plump friend here? Your personal yes man.", he asked while pointing to the other man.
"This is my personal bodyguard, Happy.", Tony introduced him.
"Happy? Like the emotion? Your mother named you after an emotion? Did she hate you or was she super high?", Otto inquired while putting Pete down where he sat between Egon's feet.
"And what does he guard? Your cholesterol.", Goto laughed while poking his belly and laughing, as Otto chuckled with him.
"Oh yeah, and what are you?!", Happy tried to argue back weakly while flashing his gun.
"This is the professor's little brother.", Otto introduces them.
"Little!?", they both exclaimed in shock, looking at their stark differences.
"He's also an ex-convict with a record I dare not say aloud. He's also a personal bodyguard.", Otto adds, watching with glee as Happy starts to sweat and hides his gun.
Goto grins menacingly and looks at the man, asking, "Nothing to say now, do ya, fluffy."
"Now, now, you two, there is no need for name-calling.", Egon reigns the two back in, following up by asking, "Okay then, Stank, why should I even consider the possibility of respecting you?" Otto then climbs up to his shoulder and begins to whisper something in his ear. Egon gives a confused expression and states, "That's it? He's just rich? Really, is that all? So you're a millionaire."
"Billionaire.", Tony corrected him.
Egon rolls his eyes and continues, "Whatever. So you're another rich snob coming from old money. Is that all?"
"No, I'm a Billionaire, playboy, inventor, and philanthropist.", Tony corrected him again with a proud smile.
"This bottle represents all the fucks I give about what you said.", Egon tells him with an unamused expression while pouring out a water bottle onto the ground, where Pete tries to pick at it. Once empty, he demands, "Now, how exactly did you get through my security system? You should've been blasted out of the sky! It's not like you could have hacked it.", but Tony only smiles at him, and it dawns on the man as he says in shock, "Oh my god you did do that."
"It was a simple task.", Tony boasts like it was just another Tuesday.
Egon looked like he was ready to bite his head off but stopped himself before doing anything rash. After calming down, he demanded sternly, "What exactly do you want? Make it fast!"
"I'm here to collect what you stole from me.", Tony exclaimed, bringing out the one who would yell and make demands.
Egon looked at him strangely, turned to Otto, and asked, "Otto, did we steal something from this idiot?"
"There is one thing," Otto said, thinking aloud before returning to whispering to the man.
Seeing them conversing, Happy piped up and said, "Are we going to pass over the fact that the octopus is talking?"
"The octopus has a name!", Goto exploded before breaking back and saying, "Dammit, I'm sorry, Otto, you're a person, not a thing."
"It's alright.", Otto assured him before continuing his conversation with Egon.
Once he had finished, the man looked surprised and said in shock, "Hold on. You made the arc reactor?"
"Indeed I did. It's what keeps my heart pumping.", Tony said proudly while opening his shirt and showing a glowing blue circular device where his heart should be. Closing his shift up a bit, allowing it to get seen, he demanded, "And I want it back. It is going to revolutionize my whole life."
Egon looked at Otto, then at Goto, then at Tony, where he yelled, "You damn idiot!"
"Who, me?", Tony asked incredulously.
"Yes, you! Are there any other rich pricks around?! Do you realize what you just admitted!?", Egon demanded as Tony stayed silent and confused, making Egon yell in explanation, "You made a piece of technology with illegal and stolen goods. These goods were stolen from us!"
"Actually, it's a new element.", Happy corrected.
"I don't care! You committed a crime, and I should have you arrested for that!", Egon yelled while marching up to Tony and poking his chest.
But Tony said nothing in reply and didn't even react how anyone in that situation should. Instead, he stood by casually with a nonchalant expression on his face and then asked, "So, can I have it back?"
Egon's brain looked like it had just gone blue-screened at the question, and he babbled out in anger, "Wha-mgdygfyfxd?! No! Of course, you can't! Did you miss the part where what you did was illegal!?"
Tony rolled his eyes as he tried to pass the man, saying in a broad tone, "I don't care. I'd be out in a day. And if you're not going to let me get it, I'll just find it myself." But seeing as Egon did not move aside, Tony snapped his fingers and said, "Happy. Remove them."
Happy took the gun off of his belt, and Egon immediately said, "Goto."
The blonde man activated his quirk and doubled in size as he glared angrily at the overweight man, who began to sweat bullets.
Seeing as things were not going as he wanted them to, Tony gave an exasperated sigh and moved around the scientists while saying in a snobbish tone, "Whatever I don't have time for-."
But before he could get any further, Egon grabbed his shoulder, spun him towards him, and then pulled out an unusual device from behind his back. Where he attached it to the arc reactor in Tony's chest, twisted it, and pulled it out in one swift motion. Tony gave a sharp gasp and fell to his knees as his face went pale, his eyes went bloodshot, and he gasped for air like a fish. All while happy, he couldn't bring himself to move or act before Goto's imposing form and intimidation. He didn't even have to try to shoot him to realize the bullets would have no effect.
Egon looked down at the device holding the arc reactor in his hand, the same device that Otto had given him before meeting with the rich brat, and said to the octopus, "Is this what this thing is for?"
"It's actually used to hold the arc reactor since it generates so much heat. I was honestly taking a guess.", Otto answered.
Their conversation was broken when Tony gave another sharp gasp. Egon knew he had to take this opportunity to make his stance, so he sat the man up on his knees, pulled him up straight, and said to him in a threatening, firm tone, "Listen here, Stank, I'm going to give you back your heart, but when I do, you're going to slither back into that plane and slink back to America and never come back! Got it? Cause if you do, I won't hesitate to blast you out of the sky! You might be rich, but I'm far richer, and I can assure you of two things. Number one, I can cover your death up with ease, and two, no one will mourn you.", Tony didn't say anything, but his eyes had desperation in them. So Egon quickly reinserted the arc reactor back into his chest, and once in, he stated in a growl, "Now get out of my sight."
As the scientists began to walk away, Tony caught his breath while standing back to his feet. With the color returning to his face and his eyes no longer looking ready to bleed, he gave off a small but slightly crazy-sounding laugh as he said, "You…really shouldn't have done that."
Egon stopped his walk, turned around, and replied menacingly, "And why not?"
Tony gave him a toothy smile before the scientists could react. He plunged his arm into his coat pocket, where it became encased in a mechanical gauntlet with a blue light at the center of the Palm that began to rev. Up power, and he pointed it directly at Egon! Egon was so shocked he couldn't move or react at first, and Goto was indisposed by keeping Happy away! Even Otto and Pete were stunned to do anything!
However, just before The gauntlet blasted him, a voice came out of Egon's shoulder and shouted, "Professor, look out!"
Suddenly, a spray of liquid came from his body, hitting the gauntlet and nearly melting it and Tony's arm right off! Tony quickly threw the gauntlet off of his body in a panic, and Egon took this opportunity to change the setting on the device in his hand and stuck it to the arc reactor, causing a surge of electricity to run through the rich man's body, causing him to convulse and eventually pass out! Once Tony had hit the ground, Egon looked around to see who or what had saved him, and to his surprise, it was Katsuyu! Or at least a small part of her.
"Katsuyu? What are you doing here?", Egon asked in surprise.
"I had the most unsettling premonition and separated a small piece of myself to follow you. I'm glad I did.", the slug replied.
"So am I.", Egon agreed with a sigh of relief. Getting back to business, Egon marched over to Happy and firmly told him, while pointing a finger in his face, "Alright, Joyful."
"Happy.", he corrected him.
Egon rolls his eyes and continues, "I don't care. Go scrap up your master from the ground, load yourselves into that plane, and get the hell off my property! And if you ever come back, it'll be your last mistake.", he promised in a threatening tone.
Happy looked like he wanted to shoot, but Goto grabbed the gun with his muscle fibers and crushed the weapon with nothing but his pinkie finger.
Happy went white as a sheet, ran over, grabbed Tony, and ran back to the weird helicopter, where he yelled at the pilot to get going! Within a few minutes, the helicopter roared to life and flew off into the air and out over the horizon, where it vanished from sight. The two men, the octopus and Dido, all stood on the roof and didn't leave until the helicopter was gone.
After which, Otto slapped his forehead and grips, "Geez. What a pill."
"You should've let me smash 'em.", Goto comments while turning his quirk off.
"If they come back, then you can do that," Egon tells his brother. Egon then sighs in relief again and stresses, "At the very least, it was an easy problem and nothing major."
Only for an enormous and loud explosion to rock the whole facility hard enough that everyone on the roof was nearly knocked off their feet! After which, Otto turned to Egon from the ground and asked in a sarcastic tone, "Nothing major, you say?"
Egon groans and pleads, "I really hope that's just another of Hatsume's blunders and not whatever Izuku was taking care of by the front."
