Ch.115: The Final Straw
"Egon!", Eri yelled as she ran up and grabbed his long leg. Looking up at him with teary eyes, she pleaded, "I don't want the bad man to come! He tried to hurt Izuku."
Egon leaned down to the girl, petting her head. He asked, "The bad man? But Overhaul is gone."
"Not him. The other bad man with yellow hair and loud hands.", Eri described getting more and more upset.
Egon thought about who she was describing, and judging from the number of people she met with those characteristics, only one name came to mind. He stated, "Oh! You mean Bakugou." Then a thought crossed his mind, and he inquired, "Wait, how do you know him? You weren't here when that happened."
Eei said nothing in reply, only looking at her with her big, sad eye in an attempt to get him to agree to her demands. Luckily, before Egon could press her for information, the culprits revealed themselves, and Cluck poked her head through the door on her mechanical cart, saying, "I showed her the old recording from that day."
Egon whipped his head to the bird and yelled, "Cluck! Are you trying to traumatize the kid!?"
Cluck shrugged with the mechanical arms and argued calmly, "Just trying to prepare her for the inevitable. We don't need her to activate her quirk and turn everyone into an amoeba just because the blast-hole had his fragile ego shattered."
Egon sighed in exasperation before turning to the girl and assuring her, "Eri, listen to me. We have everything under control—more so than we did last time. Even the nice people at UA are handling it better as well. Besides, the only reason he's allowed to come is because Izuku allowed it. And if he said it was okay, then it must be okay, right?"
Eri sniffles back her tears and agrees, "Right."
"Everything will be fine. I promise.", Egon tells her again while pulling her into a hug.
"Egon?" Eri asked while still embraced in the hug. Egon pulled away to give her full attention as she asked innocently, "Where do babies come from?"
Egon's eyes shrunk to pinpricks, and in one fell swoop, he picked up the girl, whirled around, and yelled, "Cluck!" Only for the chicken to kick her cart into maximum overdrive and speed away before the man could get his hands on her, all while she laughed.
When the buses from U.A. finally arrived at the front of the building after going through all the security checks, the students sat pressed to the glass in awe and wondered if the sight was before them! They all were wearing their gym uniforms with only their essential hero gear. The first facility they had was definitely something, but this was on a whole different level! It was bigger, brighter, and so much more detailed!
Sure, it was still angular and made of white stone with floor-to-wall windows, but that didn't detract from everything about it! The garden was ever bigger and more pristine as you went up to the facility. The man-made pond and streams surrounding it were beautiful, and many colors of fish jumped out from them. The angular architecture was definitely made to be more pleasing to the eye.
Once the buses stopped and they all scrambled out to get a better look, accompanied by Eraserhead, Present Mic, Vlade King, and Nezu, Egon came out of the front of the door and announced to them, "Welcome back, students of U.A., or should I say, welcome to our new facility!"
"Wow! It's even bigger than the last one!", Momo said in amazement.
"Ochako, did you really see the inside of this place before any of us?", Tsyuy asked her friend while trying to look at everything.
Uraraka shook her hand in a so-so manner before telling her and anyone else listening, "Only a small portion. I was only visiting, but I'm sure they've added so much inside since then."
Egon clapped his hands and announced to them, "Now, here at N.I.P., we know about the…events that transpired during your last training camp. So, we at UA have decided to open our doors to help you young heroes get ahead of the curve. If you'll follow me," he said while waving them all inside.
Seeing the inside was far less grand scale than the outside. Sure, the lobby was well-designed, inviting, and bright, but everything else in the facility was not. Then again, they only saw the hallways and weren't allowed to step foot into the actual scientific wings. After a bit of walking, they finally came to a large set of blast doors, which was behind an even larger room. A room that was about half the size of a football field.
Once they all had stepped into the huge, white, cold, metallic room, Egon announced while spreading out his arms, "Welcome, students of U.A.! To the Hall of Testing!"
"Hall of what?", one person asked while looking at the vast amount of nothing.
"It's where we test out the things we make in a controlled environment to see if they explode or mutate. Sometimes, we use it as a training room for the Dragon Hunters.", Egon explained.
"Dragon Hunters?", one person inquired with interest and confusion.
Luckily, before more questions about his vagueness and shouting ensued, Egon quickly summarized, "Some lunatics got on Pacifica and stole a butt ton of dragon eggs, trying to sell them off. Now the whole world has a dragon issue that's being taken care of." however, this didn't help as some of the heroes, young and old, looked panicked. Seeing as he said too much, Egon turned the topic around and told them, "Anyhow, all of you have been set up with a personal training program situated for your specific quirks. All were made by the talents of Doctor Izuku Midoriya, who managed to make these programs within the week. Let's give him a big round of applause!"
As he was saying this, Izuku came out of another door and pressed a button on his pad. A whole host of different objects and things all came out from the floor. Everyone present clapped their hands for the teen. He smiled and waved at all of them with a very tired expression—all except for Bakugou, who was glaring daggers at him.
Clapping his hands together, Egon proclaimed, "Now then, one of you will be working in rooms designed for your quirk training, others will be in here, some will face robots and holograms, and a few of you will work in the new H.A.S.S room."
"Hass? What's hass?", one student asked aloud.
This time, Izuku was the one to answer and explained, in short, "Only the most advanced holographic system on the planet you'll ever see! If you're lucky enough to train inside of it."
"And with us!", said a female voice.
All eyes went to the voice, and four figures emerged from the shadows as a group of heroes dressed like magic girl cat girl idols. All four of them leaped from the shadows, struck poses, and let out their team chant.
"Batting away all evil with our charm. It's Ragdoll!" said a green-haired woman in a yellow outfit.
"Clawing with all our might on evil's bane. It's Pixie-bob!", said a blond woman in a blue outfit.
"Pounching on all who follow in evil's trail. It's Mandalay!", said a brown-haired woman in a red outfit.
"Cuddling all who stray off the path of righteousness. It's Tiger!" said a very large and muscular man in a brown outfit made for a woman.
"Wild Wildly Pussy Cats!", all four of them said in unison.
While the students had differing reactions to the pussycats, the same couldn't be said of Izuku and Egon. The green teen looked absolutely starstruck at seeing the famous rescue team, while the tall, sandy blonde man looked in with a placid expression. As the pussycats did their intro, Egon slid over to Nezu without moving his legs. Nezu saw the man's approach and unpleasant aura, so he knew he was in for something.
"Nezu. Why did you bring those yahoos here?", Egon asked calmly.
"They're very good at what they do. We've been working with them for years.", Nezu explained.
Egon didn't like that answer and growled while kneeling down to him and saying, "One of them is a pervert, and not in a funny way!"
"They're the best in the business.", Nezu argued.
Egon rolls his eyes and says while rubbing them, "They must be the only ones in the business. And what's with the kid?" he exclaims the last part while pointing to a small child with black hair and a red hat with horns around Eri's age.
"He's with me.", Mindalaya called out.
Egon and the child stared at one another for several seconds, with the child glaring daggers at him. Egon could tell he was going to be a handful, so he called out, "Send him off to play with Eri. I can tell he's trouble."
However, no one came. He looked around for the bodyguard he had brought with him but saw no one. His brother had offered to come and keep watch over Bakugou, but now he was gone, but why? Then he looked at the kid and Mandalay, and the piece fell into place. This kid was the son of the Water House Dou, the ones his brother killed not too long ago. It was best if he was invisible now.
Luckily, Barkan came in clutch at the last moment when things were getting awkward and escorted the child to where Eri was being cared for. After he's gone, Egon turns back to Nezu and tells him in a low tone, "Fine, but if the pervert touches any students, the security goes on!"
"Noted," Nezu says with an affirmative nod while nervously looking over at Pixie-bob, who was eyeing Izuku, who was downing his third coffee of the day to keep awake from his all-nighter.
From here, the teens were all separated into single stations, double groups, or larger groups depending on their quirks and the situation to train them. They were situated as such;
Mina, Sero, Ibara, Sen, Kojiro, and Rin were all sent off in a group to produce as much of their natural bodily excretions as possible for the longest amount of time, each one being a bit different.
Mina had to change the acidity of her acid in order to break down barriers that constantly move toward her. Sero had to use his tape to keep a very heavy object from falling, and once it was secured, another heavier object would come. Kojiro was very similar to Mina, but he had to keep barriers from moving away, with each getting faster and faster. Sen had to breathe out different sizes and strengths of solid air to keep several projectiles of differing strength from hitting him. Ibara has to send her hair into the ground constantly while making more vines sprout, making them bend and move in different ways while keeping robots at bay, trying to sense them before they grow too close. And Rin was shooting his scales from every possible part of his body while fighting off several robots.
Ayoama was hung from a bungee vest from the ceiling and had to propel himself from the ground as high as he could before dropping down. He also tried to hit the target by reflecting his shots off mirrors.
Toru was playing hide-and-seek with several robots made to find people. If they sensed her, they would restrain her. So if she was found, she would have to dodge them, run away, or be extra silent. And she couldn't stay still.
Kirishima and Tetsutetsu were under the same protocol. They were beset with a hail of projectiles while fighting off holograms that hid the projectiles with their light bodies.
Juzo and Iida were racing each other around the outermost part of the room, and different roadblocks and robots attempted to slow them down.
Pony and Mineta had to shoot out or remove as many attachments as possible as fast as possible while trying to keep robots at bay.
Sato and Shoda were doing extreme squats using differing methods. Sato was fed sugary water through a tube held by a robot while squatting with increasing increments of weight on his back. Shoda also had increased increments of weight put on his back, but he had to use his quirk to hold them up.
Jurota, Ojiro, Kamakiri, Kendo, Kosie, and Shoji all received similar training since their quirks were most useful in punch fighting and fight punching.
Jurota was in a pseudo-Kaiju with three mechs and a ton of smaller bots that swarmed his legs.
Ojiro was facing off against a plethora of different bots and holograms. Kamakiri was much the same, but he had to keep retracting blades from every part of his body and couldn't use the same one twice.
Kendo and Kosie were basically like Ojiro, but Kendo had to keep changing the size of her hands, and Kosie had to spin every part of his body. Shoji was much like the other two; he couldn't use the same limb twice and had to keep producing more while keeping track of all of them.
Awase was fighting against some very special boy. If he tried to weld a part of themselves to the bot or one another, they could split that part off and make it move independently or combine with another bot. Some of them were even holograms in disguise.
Setsuna was completely airborne and scattered her pieces as far apart as she could muster, trying to avoid flying drones that attempted to attack her! She also tried to break herself up further and reform her pieces into pseudo limbs instead of her natural ones.
Momo had a device connected directly into her bloodstream, constantly pumping pure calories. She used this energy to constantly make new items while fighting off robots! The only thing was she wasn't allowed to use the same item twice.
Jiro was fighting holograms but extending her ear jacks as far as she could. For the holograms to dissipate, she had to hit them in a very specific spot. She also had to listen for their arrival, which was hard since they made no sound. Her only clue was a high-pitched buzzing.
Koda was locked in a glass soundproof box. On the floor, there was a thin layer of water with a swarm of bugs on the outside. He had to use the vibration in the water to make the bugs grab a key and let him out.
Reiko was also fighting against bots but had to keep them and as many different sizes of objects floating in the air at once, only for the boys to get bigger and bigger.
Kuroio sneaked around shadows and dark spaces, even trying to jump between them, as a robot equipped with light and white paint followed.
Komori was much more relaxed as she mixed and matched different mushrooms and then tried their effects on the provided plants.
Yui was using her quirk on a bot, making it grow large and small in several parts of its body without breaking it.
Manga was given a holographic thesaurus of onomatopoeias and forced to fight off holograms with them.
Tokoyoami was in a pitch-black room trying to gain control over dark shadow as robots flashed the sentient quirk over and over.
Monoma was running between everyone as bots and holograms chased him. He would touch a person and use their quirk, but he could only do it once and make his way through everyone before using the same one again.
Tsuyu was in an aquatic environment where she was swimming all around while fighting aquatic bots and fighting with her tongue.
Todoroki was in a small room, where he had to rapidly change the temperature to keep a horde of extreme weather drones at bay. They'd temporarily stop moving to switch gears for the extreme temperature difference, only to move again. He couldn't let them get too close, or he'd have to start over.
Uraraka was placed in a gyro ring and spun around, trying to keep a plethora of heavy objects at her maximum weight aloft and compel them towards and around her.
Last was Bakugou, who was in a cold, temperature-controlled space and forced to fight a mix of robots and holograms. Each enemy required a certain g-force of power to harm them, and the only way to keep his pores open in this cold was by dunking them in a pot of hot water.
Things were going smoothly…too smoothly—and eventually, something did arise from the controlled chaos. But not from someone messing up and getting hurt or asking for their test to be dialed back a bit in intensity…it was Bakugou.
The boy had just finished blasting the last robot, and before more could come, he burst out of the HASS room and screamed, "This is bullshit!"
"Oh boy, I knew this was coming eventually.", Egon groaned while taking a hit from his hip flask.
"Settle down Bakugou. You know what we talked about.", Aizawa warned him.
But the boy didn't listen as he marched up to the two scientists and demanded, "No! This is boring as hell! I don't wanna fight holograms and robots anymore! I wanna fight something real!"
But before anyone could say or do anything in response, Izuku quickly chimed in and said with a shrug, "Well…if you say so." With that, he took out his pad and pressed something, causing a part of the room wall to separate and reveal a set of large, thick bars, like the bars of an enclosure.
In the next moment, huge footsteps could be heard, causing the teens to stop and look at the wall. Then, the Glavenus showed its huge head and long body from the length of the bars. It stopped to look at the fearfully frozen teens and then struck a menacing pose while bellowing its metallic roar! The teens screamed, and for once in his life, Bakugou looked frightened.
"Izuku, I think that's a little much.", Egon tried to dissuade the boy.
Realizing the truth in his statement, Izuku sweat dropped awkwardly and said, "Yeah, you're right; I don't know what I was thinking."
He quickly pressed a different button, and the wall closed on the Glavenus only to open a new section of the wall on the other end where something large dangler from the ceiling behind another set of thick bars. There, the object unfurled itself, and a large set of wings spread out as Camilla screeched aloud, causing everyone to freeze up or gasp in fear of the vampyr! Bakugou, most of all, was terribly frightened by the sight of the animal from the last encounter they had and fell to his butt in fear as Camilla licked her lips.
"Izuku!", Egon yelled at him.
"Sorry, wrong button.", Izuku apologized while pressing several more buttons and giving his full attention to the pad.
This time, Camilla's enclosure closed, and another door opened. A large robotic arm stretched out and deposited a single gray lock box in the middle of the room.
Bakugou walked up to the box and looked it over before asking, in confusion, "Do you want me to fight a box?"
"Not just any box. Go ahead and attack it.", Izuku told him with a pompous tone.
Bakugou glared at him, then realized a small explosion had occurred on the box, causing it to jump away, hiss, and chatter like it was alive! This took Bakugou aback as the box rattled with anger, and Izuku smiled wryly. Suddenly, the lockbox produced a set of long human legs in fishnet stockings and kitten-heel shoes and glared at the teen with them!
Bakugou backed away as he shouted, "What the?!"
"Mimicutie, combat mode.", Izuku commands the thing with a smile on his face.
