Chapter 74: The Blood Queen

*Tap Tap Tap*

The sounds of four people running frantically throughout the corridor.

Beta and her team ran as fast as they can from the werewolf. They still ran even when they no longer sense his presence.

"Is he still chasing us!?" 666 shouted.

"I dunno! I don't wanna look back!" 664 shouted back.

"I think he's no longer chasing us. Nom nom nom." 665 answered rather calmly while munching on a burger.

"665! How could you eat while running!?"

"I dunno. I just did. Nom nom nom."

After running through several floors, they finally meet up with Epsilon's team, which allowed them to stop and take a breather. Epsilon's team simply stared at them in bewilderment.

"Beta? What the hell happened to you guys?" Epsilon asked with concern in her face.

"Adra… too strong… I decided… to run…!" Beta replied in between heavy breaths, which in her case was more out of panic than exhaustion compared to her team who are genuinely exhausted.

"Adra? That beastkin? How strong is he?"

"At least… almost as strong as Delta." Beta's reply gave Epsilon a frown with worry and understanding.

"Let's go together then. I'll help you." Epsilon suggested and Beta agreed with a nod.

Both Beta and Epsilon's team then returned to the library, expecting a tough fight against the werewolf. But he is nowhere to be found.

"He's not here. Did he leave already?" Epsilon said.

"Come to think of it… he didn't even chase us… did he?" Beta said. Her team nodded in agreement.

"612. Can you find his scent?" Epsilon asked the resident beastkin.

"Yes… but… he's no longer here, Lady Epsilon. He left the tower already."

"What do we do?" Beta asked.

"You continue your job. We'll stay here just in case he decided to come back." Epsilon said.

They spent a few more minutes in the library guarding Beta's team who continued their mission in the library whilst expecting an ambush which didn't come. As time is not on their side anymore, Beta resorted to just collecting any relevant books and stuffed them into her slime cloak, intending to take them home. Just as they were about to leave, they felt an enormous magical energy rising in the rooftop, its power matches Carmilla's.

"You feel that!?" Exclaimed Epsilon.

"Yes! It seems that the Blood Queen has been resurrected!" Beta answred.

"But Mary said she won't be resurrected before tomorrow at midday!"

"I don't think she's lying. But I suppose something unexpected must've happened. Let's go assist them!" Said Beta as she, Epsilon and their respective teams rushed the stairs to reach the rooftop.

The Blood Queen emerged from within the petals of the flesh colored flower. Having been newly regenerated, she is naked as the day she is born, although the flower soon turns into blood, which covered her body, turning into blood-red dress.

Her eyes are still closed as she is still drowsy from a long slumber. Mary noted that her queen is a heavy sleeper and took some time to wake herself, even in the advent of the Red Moon.

"Lady Elizabeth!" Mary shouted as she beheld her queen's familiar visage.

"This is the Blood Queen? Her magic power is crazy! Almost at the same level as that vampire whore's!" Claire remarked.

"Mr. Van Helsing! I'm sorry! I failed!" Mary said to her teacher.

"That's fine. This is beyond anyone's prediction… although I have an idea of who is behind this." Said Van Helsing, pretending to be a know-it-all like usual.

"Who's responsible for this, Mr. Van Helsing!?" Shouted Mary.

"Umm…. It's…" Murmured Van Helsing while sweating, not expecting her to ask him to elaborate.

"That would be me." Said a new voice coming from above. His voice attracted the attention of everyone, even the Blood Queen and Carmilla. They beheld a white haired man who's floating up in the air above them. His black cape blowing around despite the absence of wind.

"White hair… aristocratic clothes… That's Alucard!" Mary said.

"Alucard… Son of Dracul." Van Helsing added.

"Correct. I am Alucard the Vampire King. It appears that Shadow Garden has told you about me. I did encounter and killed some of their members." Said Alucard while grinning.

"Alucard!? I've never heard of you! But why… Why do you feel so… familiar!?" Said Carmilla warily.

"Ah. Your master is the Necromancer, right? He must've used my blood in order to create you. It has certainly made you more... beautiful." Alucard remarked. His compliments made Van Helsing, Claire and Mary get weirded out as they can't see any beauty in Carmilla's monstrous form.

"Ugh… everyone has their own taste I guess." Murmured Claire with a disgusted face.

"Heh. What a flatterer. But I belong to Lord Necromancer! And you shall not get in my way!" Carmilla shouted.

"I have no intention of getting in your way. In fact, I highly encourage your work! For it shall bring forth the dawn of the new age! A new age of vampires!" Alucard declared.

"Good! Because you won't be alive for long if you did." Said Carmilla. Alucard merely laughed at her words.

"Then why are you here!? What have you done to the Red Moon!?" Shouted Mary. Her inquiries are quickly interrupted by blood spears coming from the Blood Queen, who have opened her eyes, causing her magic power to rise exponentially.

"Lady Elizabeth!"

"Ha ha ha! Good, Blood Queen! Go insane! Let the bloodlust overtake you!" Laughed Alucard as he watched the Blood Queen attacking Claire, Mary and Carmilla.

"Now then. Let's get down to business, shall we? Professor Abraham van Helsing?" Said Alucard as he faced Van Helsing.

"Indeed. I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. For the opportunity to fulfil my destiny!" Replied Van Helsing while grinning.

"Let us give the ladies their own space and move our fight to that tower, shall we?" Said Alucard as he flew towards the Don Jon Tower, Van Helsing followed suit by jumping straight to the tallest tower of the Lawless City.

"HA HA HA HA HA! IS THAT ALL YOU'VE GOT, BLOOD QUEEN!?" Laughed the batlike Carmilla as she tore the Blood Queen apart with a swipe of her claws. Naturally the Blood Queen was able to regenerate the damage quickly and the blood that came out from her wound turns into spears that pierced Carmilla's arms, preventing her from delivering another claw attack.

The Blood Queen proceeded to create a blood spear which impaled her stomach and pushed her away, allowing her to turn her attention to Mary and Claire, who attacked her with silver sword and blood tentacle respectively.

Claire intercepted the blood spears that the Blood Queen sent her way, allowing Mary to attack. But just as she was about to deliver a slash, her hands stopped. She hesitated to harm her beloved queen.

"Mary!" Claire shouted as the Blood Queen already sent another blood spear her way whilst she hesitated, forcing Mary to abandon her assault to dodge the attack.

"Oh how precious. Look at how much you hesitate to harm her and yet she has no qualms about tearing you apart." Carmilla taunted as she watched Mary's hesitation with amusement. The blood spear which impaled her has been broken by her claws. Mary ignored her taunts, focusing her attention on the Blood Queen.

Carmilla jumped to attack the Blood Queen again. As she swiped her claws to tear the Blood Queen apart again, the expected resistance of claws meeting flesh didn't occur.

"Mist form, eh?" Carmilla remarked as she saw part of the Blood Queen's body turned into mist in order to prevent Carmilla's attack from harming her. "I'll just have to wait until you solidify and-" Carmilla's words were interrupted by the Blood Queen's hand piercing her chest even though her lower body is still in mist form.

"What!? You can partially transform!?" Carmilla exclaimed as she didn't expect the Blood Queen to be able to partially transform her body to mist in order to perform instant counter attack.

"But you're wide open!" Carmilla shouted as she grabbed the hand that pierced her chest and attempts to bite the Blood Queen, only for the Blood Queen to transform the rest of her body into mist and escape her grasp.

"Annoying. But futile!" Declared Carmilla as she raised her wings and flapped it, generating a force of wind, forcing the Blood Queen to revert from her mist form in order to avoid being blown away.

Whilst her attention is on the Blood Queen, Mary took that chance to cut off one of her wings. "GRAAAAAHHH! MAAARYYYYYY!" That angered her and she proceeded to impale Mary with her claws. Mary, lacking in magical energy, was unable to dodge.

"Mary!" Claire shouted as Mary was thrown away by Carmilla and crashed against the cold hard floor. She ran towards her friend and saw the grievous wound on her friend's stomach. She knows that a healing spell won't be enough and thus she made her decision without hesitation.

"Mary! Drink my blood!" Claire said as she aimed her blood tentacle towards Mary's mouth. Mary hesitated for a moment but when she saw how determined Claire's face is, she conceded and drank the blood. The blood rejuvenates her body and restored her powers, allowing her to heal her wounds and stand back up.

"I'm okay. Thank you, Claire." Mary said as they both faced the Blood Queen and Carmilla once again.

"Both of them are too strong. Maybe we should let them fight each other-" Claire was about to suggest but a hail of blood spears was sent their way by the Blood Queen.

"Or maybe not!" Claire shouted as she dodged some spears and blocked some others with her blood tentacles. Mary, with her strength restored, was able to dodge the spears almost effortlessly.

"Don't forget about me! Ha ha ha!" Carmilla laughed as she swiped her claw on Claire. Claire's tentacle was unable to defend her from the claw and as a result, she suffered a gash on her stomach.

"Gaah!" Claire grunted as she fell down the floor after being pushed away by Carmilla's claws.

"Now come…" Carmilla said as blood which poured out of Claire's wound started floating towards Carmilla. But before it can reach her, Mary interrupts her by slicing her throat.

"GRAAAAHHHH!" Carmilla roared again as she covered her bleeding throat with her massive hands.

"I failed to decapitate her… But it's futile because the wound on her heart is already healed." Mary remarked as she saw the wound on Carmilla's heart has already closed.

"Forget about the Blood Queen! I'm killing you first!" Shouted an enraged Carmilla as she focused all her attacks on Mary, who's forced to dodge all her attacks and are unable to assist Claire, who's now facing the Blood Queen alone.

"Seems like it's just you and me now, huh?" Claire remarked nervously as she faced the Blood Queen. The Blood Queen merely stared at her with a blank expression.

The Blood Queen made the first move by sending more blood spears, which Claire dodged. Some of the blood spears were caught by her blood tentacles, which she proceeded to throw back at the Blood Queen. The Blood Queen didn't even dodge it and allowed herself to be impaled by her own spears, which immediately gets absorbed by her body before the wounds closed.

"Tch. I should've aimed for the heart." Claire said as she dodged more blood spears. As she ran she eventually hit a wall. "What!?" But it was no ordinary wall… It's a wall made of blood.

"Since when!?" Claire was immediately trapped as the wall moved to encircle her, not allowing her to escape. She is now trapped like a caged bird. From the blood red walls emerged hundreds of spikes which are continuously closing in, slowly threatening to pierce her from all sides like an Iron Maiden would.

"Dammit…. Cid!" Claire closed her eyes and braced herself for a very painful death… which didn't come as the walls were sliced apart.

"Huh!?" Claire opened her eyes and saw the Shadow Garden members arriving just in time to save her.

"Are you alright, Miss Claire!?" Beta asked.

"Uhh… Yeah." Claire answered while still in shock after nearly dying from the Blood Queen's attack. Beta and her team stood protectively in front of her.

"Leave this to us!" Epsilon said, brandishing her blade before the Blood Queen. Her team stood beside her.

"Haaaa!" Epsilon shouted as she sent a long ranged magic slash against the Blood Queen, which bisected her torso.

"Amazing…" Claire muttered as she didn't expect to see someone capable of unleashing a long range magical attack. With her newfound powers, she wonders if she could accomplish the same feat.

Beta continued the assault by throwing explosive daggers on the Blood Queen. The daggers exploded upon contact, creating massive wounds on the Blood Queen. Despite that, the Blood Queen didn't show signs of being hurt and merely regenerated her wounds wordlessly.

"Beta. I can handle the Blood Queen. Your team should go assist Ma-" Epsilon's words were interrupted as the Blood Queen gathers a huge amount of blood and magic power around her.

"What…!?" Epsilon exclaimed as they all saw the blood that gathered around the Blood Queen dispersed into thousand arrowheads which shoots towards all of them, Mary and Carmilla included.

Beta and Epsilon created slime shield with their cloaks but they were unable to defend themselves and their allies fully from the barrage of blood arrows. Some of the books in Beta's possession are destroyed by the arrows. Their team tried the same but was unsuccessful due to lacking in experience in slime manipulation. Claire's blood tentacles also unable to block all of the arrows. Mary, despite her speed, cannot dodge the blood arrows whereas Carmilla tried to shield herself with her remaining wing.

As the barrage of arrows stopped, the damage that the Blood Queen dealt to everyone else became clear. All of them suffered several cuts and pierce wounds from various parts of their bodies, including Carmilla, although Carmilla dismissed the damage as she is confident in her own regenerative powers.

"How terrifying… With just one attack… all of us…" Beta muttered as she observed the state of her allies. "It seems that the Blood Queen is a greater threat than Carmilla."

"I heard that, you little bitch! You think this proves I am weaker than her!? I'll show you-" Carmilla was interrupted by blood spears emerging from within her body, piercing ourwards. "What…? The blood from the arrows… from within…!?" Carmilla muttered in disbelief as she noticed the Blood Queen manipulating the blood which invaded Carmilla's body through the arrows.

"This is bad! Her blood is already within our system and—HYAAAH!" Beta was also interrupted by sharp pains originating from her wounds. Her Shadow Garden comrades and Clare also suffered the same. When they looked at their wounds, they realized why the pain felt so familiar.

"No… this is…!?"

Author's Note:

I made the Blood Queen still a great threat like in canon even with Carmilla around because this chapter is about her. She could compete even against Carmilla because she is still a progenitor. While writing, I came up with an Iron Maiden attack for the Blood Queen so she could show off something new too, just like Yukime's Whirlwind Dance in previous chapter.

TheVirtualPug: I wonder what BS Cid and Claude would come up with once they meet each other as Van Helsing and Alucard.
