Prompt: "Why do you keep risking your life? To prove a point?"
"Yes."
Pru knew that she was acting a bit childish at the moment. Eliot had been nice enough to offer her a room at one of his safe houses, and yet she was intentionally ignoring him. It wasn't that she was mad at him or anything; it was just that she wasn't used to all the risks that he was taking. Sighing, she put her book down (she just could NOT focus on what she was reading) and made her way out of her room, thinking over the past couple jobs.
During the first job that the team had taken on in Boston, Eliot had had to use detonators multiple times, one of which was actually on himself. It had caused him to look dead, which had caused Pru's heart to stop for just a moment before she remembered that it was fake. Then there was this latest job in Nebraska. The hitter had really taken some hits. In the moment, she had outwardly expressed a sort of calmness. On the inside, however, Pru had been freaking out as she watched Eliot take hit after hit, just like her cousin had, in the ring.
Pru sighed. Her reminiscing had led her to one of the few places in the safe house that she hadn't wanted to go, the kitchen. Eliot had his back to her as he cooked something on the stovetop, though he still seemed to know that she was there. "Finally decided to stop ignoring me?"
The manager scoffed and rolled her eyes as she sat down at the island bar. "I wasn't avoiding you."
It was the hitter's turn to scoff now. "Pru, you've barely left your room since we got back from Nebraska."
"Why do you keep risking your life, Eliot? To prove a point?"
Eliot furrowed his brow as he plated the food he'd just finished and brought it over to where Pru was sitting, placing one of the plates in front of her. As he sat down next to her, he looked over at the earnest expression on her face and sighed. "This is what's kept you holed up?" At the unamused glare that Pru gave him before she began to eat, Eliot smirked before turning to his own plate. "Yes, I am proving a point."
Pru scoffed again. "And what may that point be?" "That, as long as I'm here, I'll take the hits for all of you. It's my job."
"I still think that that is ridiculous."
"Just eat your food, woman."
Pru hid a smirk as she turned back to her food. At least that was settled. Though, she would still be worrying since that's what she did. And she may or may not be starting to fall for Eliot. Oh, well.
