The episode referenced in this one-shot is Season 2, Episode 4: The Fairy Godparents Job.
No direct quotes in this one! Also, this is like a part 2 to the previous one-shot, entitled "Grifter Talk."
The legalities. I do not own any of the Leverage franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au. Rated M just to be on the safe side.
Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!
Hope you enjoy!
Prompt: "When I first saw her, I didn't really see her, just the pile of books she was carrying."
Eliot was truly laughing on the inside. Prudence Beck, known as Pru to her friends (which she, luckily, included the Leverage team in that category), was most definitely a force to be reckoned with. She had just put all the members of the team in their places, since most of them (he was in the kitchen and could care less) had been jumping down Sophie's throat about her behavior from the last few jobs. Eliot sighed back a smirk; he had a feeling that he was falling for Pru, but he would deal with that later.
Or now, he was trying to not laugh outright at Nathan. Said man was grumbling as he sat at the desk that Pru had put a little way away from the dining room table under "Old Nate" (he still couldn't fathom why Hardison wanted to keep that creepy portrait), going through the files that Pru had prepped for him. Eliot decided to go talk to the man for a minute, pointedly ignoring both Parker (who was bouncing around looking for the lists that Pru had hidden for her) and Hardison (who was already absorbed in research). He hadn't actually told the bar that he would help, which Pru knew; that was her code for him to talk to Nate. Rolling his eyes, Eliot made his way over to the mastermind, standing just off to the side where the mad could just see him.
"What do you want, Eliot?"
The hitter scoffed. "What's the matter with you?" Nate glared. "Why's she telling us what to do? And where did she get this idea that she is out 'manager'? I'm not even sure why she's here in Boston in the first place."
Before Eliot could even formulate an answer, they heard Hardison chuckle. "Yeah, that's my fault. When I asked her to come to L.A., I told her that she would be in charge of the offices. Part of her stipulation for agreeing was that I take her to a bunch of bookstores and buy her whatever she wanted. She is a bit of a bookworm, if you hadn't gathered."
"Wait." Eliot could practically see the cogs turning in Nate's head. "You mean to tell me that you are the reason that the first time I saw her, I didn't really see her, just the pile of books she was carrying?" Eliot gave Nate a confused look. "Is that really what you took from Hardison's explanation?"
"Not now, Eliot."
Hardison laughed. "I actually have to agree with Eliot on this. Not to mention she is definitely way overqualified for this and is one of the only people I would trust to do this. Which, if I recall, you agreed with."
Nate sighed. "Alright, alright. I guess I just don't want to give up any control to anyone else."
Eliot and Hardison shared a look before both looked back and the mastermind, Eliot muttering a "you think" under his breath as he walked towards the kitchen again.
"Well, in regards to your other question, have you seen how many books she freaking goes through? I mean, I've known her for, like, forever, and she goes through books like it ain't nobody's business."
"How did you two meet?" Eliot popped his head out at Nate's question, since he was interested in the answer as well.
Hardison scoffed. "Maybe we'll tell you one day. But I, for one, don't want to get Pru mad at me. Therefore, I am going back to work." When Nate looked over at Eliot for assistance, the hitter just shrugged and continues in the kitchen. This caused the mastermind to sigh and (finally) go back to what he was supposed to be doing. Eliot smirked. If he really wanted to know the story, he'll just ask Pru later. She was living with him after all.
