Prompt: "Now that I made it weird, I'm going to make my exit."
"You know, although magicians have been associated with the occult for centuries, this is not actually the case. A magician's tricks are actually based on illusions. However, some magicians have decided, in the past, to capitalize on the idea of the occult in their advertisements, a practice that has usually exposed as charlatanism."
Eliot Spencer looked to his left to see Prudence "Pru" Beck reaching up to undo the latch on the top part of the "Box of Mystery" that they'd gotten off of that magician, Chronos or what ever his name was. The hitter was supposed to hid in it in order to get into Lillian Foods. Since security would definitely recognize him after the pizza delivery snafu (he blamed Hardison), the team had had to come up with a new (and creative) way to get all of them (besides Pru) into the company's headquarters. Hence the reason why they were all prepping the magician's equipment. Rolling his eyes, Eliot went to respond to her, but she (unknowingly) interrupted him.
"Oh, and there was also an Italian priest, Saint Don Bosco, who used magic tricks in the nineteenth century to push children to come back to school, attend church, and what not. This is called gospel magic."
"They teach that in seminary school."
Pru and Eliot both turned to see Nate exit the back of Lucille (as Hardison called his van), quickly followed by the rest of the team. They had already put most of the magical equipment into the van or the small trailer that they'd acquired, the latter of which being where the Box of Mystery would go for transport. Pru cocked her head to the side and smiled slightly at the mastermind. "That makes sense."
The hitter scoffed as he grabbed the rabbit that they had obtained to use for the con. "Of course, the seminary would teach about a sainted priest."
Pru lightly slapped his arm and shot him a small glare before the rabbit moved, catching her attention and causing her to smile. "You know, a British magician created the trick of pulling a rabbit out a hat in order to capitalize on the public's interest in a woman who had claimed that she had given birth to a litter of rabbits. And that is officially the first time that the trick was done." As she looked around at the team (who were all now looking at her in different degrees of amusement), Pru shrunk back a little. "Well, uh, not that I made it weird, I'm going to make my exit."
As Pru quickly walked away, Eliot shook his head and stepped into the Box of Mystery. There were times when he couldn't quite understand that woman. But he was definitely planning to learn more about her. And he couldn't wait.
