CHAPTER 29: DARK REVELATIONS
Harry felt a weight lift off his shoulders as he noticed Ginny chatting animatedly with Astoria. After he had introduced them, their friendship blossomed, and it was heartening to see Ginny feeling more like herself. He smiled at the sight but decided it was best to give them some space. He loved Ginny deeply, but when it came to emotions, he often felt like a fish out of water.
He could manage his best friends, Rose and Daphne, easily enough—he had known Rose since they were kids, and Daphne's quirks were endearing in their own way. But Ginny and Astoria? They were a different realm of emotions altogether.
As Harry ambled down a corridor adorned with magical portraits and flickering candles, he spotted Luna Lovegood, lost in thought, her wide eyes gazing dreamily at the wall as if it held the secrets of the universe. As he approached, she turned her head slightly and beamed at him.
"Hello, Harry Potter," she said, her voice light and airy, like a gentle breeze. "It's lovely to see you again."
"Likewise, Luna," Harry replied, returning her smile. "I wanted to let you know that Ginny seems to be doing much better, if that interests you."
"That's wonderful to hear," Luna said, her smile widening. "I hope she's found some happiness. How are you and your three friends?"
"They're great," Harry said, his expression shifting to a playful grin. "The first two behave themselves quite well, but the newest member? Let's just say they're still learning the ropes."
"And who might this wild card be?" Luna asked, her head tilting slightly as she regarded him with curiosity.
Harry chuckled, shaking his head. "I can't reveal all my secrets, can I? By the way, I know how you found out about Ginny."
Luna's gaze became distant, as if she was sifting through her thoughts. "The Nargles told me," she replied matter-of-factly.
Harry raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Come on, Luna. Don't lie to me. Outside of Brazil, Nargles aren't common, and they definitely prefer to stick to Muggles. They wouldn't dare linger in a place as magical as Hogwarts."
Luna let out a soft sigh, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Alright, you caught me. I didn't actually consult the Nargles."
"Mostly because they aren't here," Harry replied, crossing his arms. "But you can do it too, can't you?"
"Yes, I can," Luna said, a thoughtful expression on her face. "Not as well as you, but I've always been able to sense things. What about you?"
"The same," Harry confirmed, his tone becoming serious. "But we might have a bit of a problem."
"Do we?" Luna asked, tilting her head as she studied him.
"Yes," he said, leaning closer. "You know things about me that I don't want anyone else to know. As far as I'm concerned, you could tell anyone at any time."
"I won't," Luna replied earnestly, her voice steady. "Nobody would believe me anyway. They think I'm just a bit… eccentric."
"Hmm," Harry mused, considering her words. "I guess that's somewhat true. But I'd like to propose a little arrangement: you don't tell anyone my secrets, and I won't spill any of yours. Deal?" He extended his hand with a confident smile.
Luna looked at his hand, a glimmer of amusement dancing in her eyes before she shook it. "Deal. It was nice to meet you, Harry Potter. Secrets and all."
"You too," Harry said, nodding as he turned to walk away, feeling a strange sense of camaraderie with the quirky girl. As he moved down the hallway, he couldn't help but think about the intricate web of friendships and secrets that wove them all together—each connection adding a new layer to the magic of Hogwarts.

Daphne stepped into Lockhart's classroom, her brow furrowing in annoyance. Lockhart had summoned her for reasons unknown, and she had left Rose chatting with Astoria and Ginny to answer this ridiculous call. What could possibly be so urgent? She couldn't fathom why Dumbledore insisted on keeping such a self-absorbed twit as a teacher.
Like Harry, she was fed up with the overgrown peacock. Lockhart claimed to have accomplished the most extraordinary feats—feats that, if the rumors were to be believed, were actually done by other, far more competent wizards. In their last class, they had even re-enacted scenes from his latest book, a complete waste of time. Daphne huffed at the thought, rolling her eyes at the absurdity.
As she stepped further into the room, she found Lockhart preening in front of a large mirror, admiring his own reflection as if it were the most captivating sight in the world. She cleared her throat, hoping to draw his attention, but he continued admiring himself, oblivious to her presence.
Daphne crossed her arms, irritation bubbling within her. If she stood there waiting for him to notice, she could very well be there all day. "Professor," she finally called out, her voice dripping with impatience.
Lockhart spun around, a wide grin plastered on his face, his dazzlingly white teeth gleaming under the classroom lights. "Ah, Miss Greengrass! How delightful to see you!"
"Uh, why am I here, Professor?" she asked, tapping her foot impatiently.
"Everything will be explained in due time! Now, if you could kindly make your way to my office," he said, pointing to a door at the back of the classroom. Something about his demeanor made her uneasy, but she reluctantly climbed the stairs to his office, curiosity piqued despite herself.
Inside, she found Katie Bell, one of the Gryffindor Chasers, waiting anxiously. They exchanged glances, the silent conversation clear: What are you doing here? and Do you have any idea what's going on?
Before they could say anything, Lockhart swept into the room, closing the door behind him with an exaggerated flourish. Daphne heard the ominous click of the lock, a knot of apprehension tightening in her stomach.
"Glad to see you both here, girls," Lockhart said, his smile somehow both charming and unsettling. He gestured to the two chairs in front of his desk, and they sat down, warily eyeing each other.
"Now, you two are here for a very special reason," he continued, his tone dripping with false sincerity. "You are both brilliant in class—two of my absolute favorites."
"Thank you, sir," Katie replied, a faint blush creeping across her cheeks. Daphne couldn't help but roll her eyes again, wishing Katie would see through Lockhart's facade.
"I'm glad to hear you say that, Miss Bell. I have a little demonstration in mind, and I could use your talents," Lockhart said, his gaze shifting between them. "Miss Bell, would you kindly demonstrate your disarming charm for Miss Greengrass? And you, Miss Greengrass, please take out your wand."
"Uh, okay," Katie said, glancing at Daphne, who reluctantly pulled her wand from her pocket, holding it out for Katie to see.
With a flick of her wrist, Katie cast the disarming charm, and Daphne's wand flew from her hand, landing neatly in Katie's grasp. "Brilliant!" Lockhart exclaimed, clapping his hands together as he strode over to Katie, taking Daphne's wand from her hand. "Now, let's add a twist!"
Before either girl could react, Lockhart reached out and snatched Katie's wand, a gleam of mischief in his eyes. "What—?" Katie began to protest, but before she could finish, a thick rope sprang from the chair and ensnared her wrists, tying them together with surprising strength.
"Hey! Let us go!" Daphne shouted, scrambling to her feet, but it was too late. The ropes sprang to life, wrapping tightly around her arms and legs, pinning her in place.
"Professor! What is the meaning of this?" Katie yelled, struggling against her bonds, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Lockhart stepped back, his smile widening as he surveyed the two girls. "Now, now, my dears. This is just a little demonstration of some magical bindings I've been working on. They're quite effective, aren't they?"
"This isn't funny!" Daphne snapped, glaring at him. "You can't just trap us like this!"
"Oh, but I can!" Lockhart said, his tone cheerful. "And it's all in the name of education. I need to see how you both handle yourselves under a bit of pressure. Consider it an opportunity to showcase your skills!"
Daphne's heart raced as she glanced at Katie, whose eyes mirrored her own mix of frustration and fear. "Let us go, Lockhart, or I swear—"
"Or you swear what?" he taunted, leaning closer, his blue eyes sparkling with a bizarre excitement. "You'll have to find a way to free yourselves. Use your magic! This is your chance to shine!"
With that, he stepped back, arms crossed, watching them as if they were a pair of actors in a show he'd directed. Daphne's mind raced, looking for a solution. How had she gotten herself into this mess?
"Okay, Katie," Daphne whispered urgently, "we have to think fast. We can't let him get away with this."
"Right," Katie replied, her determination flaring. "Let's try to work together. Maybe we can break free!"
With a nod, Daphne focused her energy, willing her wand to respond. She felt the ropes tighten around her, but she refused to let panic set in. "On three," she whispered. "One… two… three!"
Together, they cast their spells, their wands sparking with magic. The ropes quivered as they struggled against their bindings, but they needed more strength.
"Come on!" Daphne urged, summoning all her willpower. "We can do this!"
Lockhart watched with growing amusement, clearly entertained by their efforts. "That's it! Keep trying! This is what I wanted to see!"
With a final surge of magic, the ropes began to loosen, and Daphne felt the grip around her legs fade. "Now!" she shouted, and with a flick of her wand, she finally broke free, sending the ropes flying across the room.
Katie followed suit, her wand aimed with determination. "Expelliarmus!" she shouted, and with a powerful burst of magic, the ropes unraveled completely.
"Now, that's more like it!" Lockhart exclaimed, clearly enjoying the chaos. "Very well done, girls. But perhaps I should have mentioned—"
"Enough!" Daphne interrupted, her voice firm. "You can't treat us like this, Lockhart. This isn't a game!"
The professor chuckled, his confidence unwavering. "Oh, but my dear, this is exactly how you learn! And now you know how to handle a tricky situation."
Daphne crossed her arms, her glare unyielding. "We're not your puppets, Lockhart. You need to respect us as students, not just as props in your little performance."
Lockhart's grin faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered, brushing off her words. "Very well, Miss Greengrass. Consider this a lesson learned. But I assure you, it was all in good fun!"
"Fun?" Katie echoed incredulously. "This isn't fun! You can't just trap people to prove a point!"
As they glared at him, Lockhart shrugged nonchalantly. "Perhaps I misjudged the level of excitement you two enjoy. Next time, I'll think twice before my next 'demonstration.'"
With that, he turned to the door, unlocking it with a flick of his wand. "You're free to go, ladies. And remember, magic is all about creativity and spontaneity!"
Daphne and Katie exchanged exasperated looks, but as they walked out of Lockhart's office, they both knew they wouldn't let this ridiculous incident slide.
Once outside, Katie sighed, shaking her head. "I can't believe he actually thought that was okay."
"Welcome to Lockhart's world," Daphne replied, rolling her eyes. "Let's go find Rose and Astoria. We need to regroup and figure out how to keep this from happening again."
"Agreed," Katie said, a smirk playing on her lips. "Next time, maybe we should trap him instead."
"Now that sounds like a plan," Daphne laughed as they made their way back, the camaraderie of their shared experience lightening the weight of the bizarre encounter.
With their spirits lifted, Daphne and Katie rejoined their friends, ready to share the ridiculous tale and prepare for whatever Lockhart might try next. However, just as they approached the door to the classroom, a chilling scream cut through the air.
"Professor?! What are you doing?!" Katie screamed, her voice trembling as she stepped back, realizing they had returned to find a scene that didn't fit at all.
"Shush," said Lockhart, his smile unnervingly wide. He casually tossed their wands aside as if they were mere toys. "The room is soundproof, so no one will hear you scream. Now, I think I've been a good teacher, and I'd like to be rewarded. I haven't had sex in months."
"What?!" Daphne gasped, her mind racing. She wasn't an expert on the matter, but she knew enough to understand the gravity of his words.
"But you're a teacher!" Katie shouted, her voice rising in panic. "You can't do this!"
"Hmmm, yes, I can," Lockhart replied nonchalantly, his eyes glinting with a mix of excitement and malice. "After all, memory charms are delightful things. They give me the freedom to have my fun, and you can't complain. After all, you can't complain about something you don't remember."
"Wait a minute," Daphne grimaced, her stomach knotting with dread. Panic surged within her as she considered the implications. "You said memory charms—have you used them on everyone else?"
"That's right, my dear," Lockhart said, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "Unfortunately, I didn't have time to do more than a bit of touching, but still…"
"Your achievements!" Daphne screamed, the realization crashing over her like a tidal wave. "In your books! You didn't do any of that, did you? You're useless at using magic!"
"I'm not useless; I'm incredibly good at memory charms." Lockhart tapped his wand on Daphne's chair, transforming it into a device that bound her to a wooden board. The chair morphed, and Daphne found herself lying down, her heart racing as she struggled against her restraints. "I love these chairs; I got them from France."
Lockhart lifted her, carrying her towards his desk, his smile widening with each step. He placed her on the desk, his gaze gleaming with a twisted satisfaction. As he caressed her face, his hand slid down to her neck, and Daphne felt bile rise in her throat.
Daphne's initial fear turned to horror as tears streamed down her cheeks. She turned her head away, desperate to escape the reality of the situation.
"Hey!" Katie screamed, her voice a mix of anger and desperation. "Leave her alone!"
Lockhart released Daphne and turned to Katie, pulling out his wand with a sinister grin. "Hmm, maybe I should start with you instead," he said, stepping closer to Katie.
Before he could act, the door burst open, flooding the room with light. A spell shot through the doorway, striking Lockhart squarely in the chest. He was sent sprawling backward, his wand flying from his grasp and landing perilously close to Katie's right shoulder. She reflexively caught it in her mouth, her heart racing with adrenaline.
Lockhart struggled to regain his footing, but a dark-haired figure quickly appeared, grabbing him and slamming him against the desk where Daphne lay. Harry Potter unleashed a flurry of punches, his face set in grim determination.
Katie seized the moment, spitting the wand into her right hand. "Alohomora!" she shouted, using the unlocking spell to free herself from the ropes that had bound her. She glanced up just in time to see Harry landing punch after punch on Lockhart's face, each hit echoing through the soundproof room.
"Harry!" Daphne cried out, fear gripping her. "Get me out of here! And be careful!"
"Katie!" she shouted again, urgency surging through her. "Get the Aurors and then the teachers!"
"But I—" Katie began, but Daphne's commanding tone cut her off.
"Katie!" Daphne shouted, her voice firm and unwavering, "Go get the Aurors, then get the teachers! NOW!"
Katie didn't need to be told twice. She bolted out of the classroom, racing down the hallway with all her might. Her heart thumped wildly in her chest as she sprinted toward McGonagall's office.
Bursting through the door, she startled McGonagall, who was deep in conversation with Harry, Ron, and Hermione about their recent encounter with Malfoy.
"Miss Bell!" McGonagall exclaimed, her brows furrowing in concern, but Katie ignored her, rushing straight to the fireplace.
She grabbed a handful of Floo powder, her hands shaking slightly. "I need to contact the Aurors!" she shouted as she tossed the powder into the flames. "Ministry of Magic!"
As her head disappeared into the green flames, she felt the familiar tug of the Floo Network, sending her tumbling through the swirling fire. Emerging in the Ministry's reception area, she quickly regained her balance, her heart racing.
"Help! We need Aurors! Lockhart has gone mad!" she yelled, her voice echoing through the atrium.
A nearby Ministry worker looked alarmed, rushing to get the Aurors while Katie's mind raced with the urgency of the situation. She could only hope Harry could hold off Lockhart until help arrived.
Meanwhile, back in Lockhart's classroom, Harry was still delivering powerful blows to the rogue professor. Lockhart finally managed to shove Harry back, scrambling to grab his wand from the floor.
"Enough!" Lockhart yelled, regaining his composure, his eyes flashing with fury. "You'll pay for this, Potter!"
Harry's jaw clenched as he prepared for whatever Lockhart would attempt next, his resolve unwavering. "You're not getting away with this, Lockhart."
Suddenly, the door burst open again, and the Aurors, led by a determined-looking Kingsley Shacklebolt, flooded the room. "Everyone stand back!" he commanded, raising his wand.
Katie's heart soared as she watched the Aurors move in, ready to confront Lockhart. She felt a surge of hope, knowing they would put an end to this madness and ensure that no one else would fall victim to his twisted games.
McGonagall, still grappling with disbelief, stood up and approached Katie, her expression a mix of concern and authority. "Miss Bell, what's going on?" she asked, only to have Katie withdraw her head and step back, panic flashing in her eyes.
The fireplace flared up, and a group of Aurors stepped out, all wearing serious expressions. They quickly turned their attention to Katie.
"In the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, they're in the Defense classroom. It's—" Katie started, but one of the Aurors interrupted her.
"Don't worry, we know where it is." He turned sharply and led the group out the door.
"Miss Bell, what's going on?!" McGonagall pressed, urgency coloring her tone.
"It's Lockhart, Miss," Katie cried, her voice trembling with urgency. "He tried to rape me and Daphne Greengrass!"
"What?!" screamed McGonagall, her eyes widening in shock as the Golden Trio echoed her disbelief.
"He's in the Defense classroom!" Katie said urgently before bolting out of the room, with McGonagall following her in a daze, too stunned to notice Harry, Ron, and Hermione trailing closely behind.
