Vilgax's Ship, Closing in on Earth's Orbit
Vilgax loomed over his command center, his face twisted with menace. On the holographic display, a smaller ship desperately evaded his assault.
"Hull damage: 20 percent, but the systems are still operational," a robotic lieutenant reported.
Vilgax clenched his fists. "I have come too far to be denied. The Omnitrix shall be mine, and there is not a being in the galaxy that dares stand in my way."
Kuri's Home – Isle of Skye
Kuri Morningstar put the finishing touches on her latest artwork, a dramatic scene titled Abduction. The painting showed a flying saucer pulling an alien into its beam.
"UT-EI!" she called, her hand glowing with a strange rune. The painting shimmered, and the alien creature stepped out, crawling up her arm.
"Batookah!" it chirped, its small eyes gleaming.
Kuri giggled. "Hello to you too, uh… Stitch!" She gently placed the creature into her suitcase, zipping it up just as the blare of a limo horn interrupted her.
Standing outside was Kei Morningstar, her adoptive father, his expression cold and severe.
"You're late," he growled, grabbing her suitcase roughly. "Were you playing around again?" His sharp gaze fell on her glowing hand.
Kuri stayed silent but burned with defiance inside. Her powers weren't his to control, no matter how much he claimed otherwise. She vowed to use them to free herself and her brother Michael from his clutches.
"Don't forget," Kei said, his voice icy, "everything you are belongs to me. Disobey me again, and you'll wish you hadn't."
Kuri flinched but held her resolve, silently swearing that one day she'd prove him wrong.
Bellwood Airport
Kuri stepped off the plane, her big blue bag slung over her shoulder. She scanned the bustling airport until a familiar voice called out.
"Hey there, Kuri!" Max Tennyson waved, standing by the baggage claim.
Kuri's face lit up. "Grandpa Max!" She hurried over, her pale blue pigtails bouncing. Dressed in her maroon and white school uniform, she looked out of place in the casual, bustling crowd.
"How's Skye these days?" Max asked as they walked toward the exit.
"The island's great," Kuri said, adjusting her bag. "But I wanted to see what it's like to live somewhere normal. Maybe go to the mall or watch a movie."
"Well, don't you worry," Max said with a grin. "This summer, you'll be doing all that and more. By the way, how's Kaori?"
"Grams is still as fierce as ever," Kuri said proudly. "She's like a hurricane. I don't think she'll ever slow down."
"She never did back in the day," Max chuckled. "Well, you're with us now, so let's go pick up Ben."

Ben hopped into the Rust Bucket with his usual enthusiasm. "This summer's gonna be awe—wait, who's that?" He froze when he saw Kuri sitting at the small dining table, fiddling with her bag.
"My name's Kuri Morningstar," she said politely. "My Grams and your Grandpa Max used to work together and were best friends. My parents… aren't around anymore, so Grams raised me. She thought spending the summer with a family friend would be good for me—and, well, she wanted a break."
"Oh. So… where are you from?" Ben asked, trying not to stare.
"I was born in Japan, but I grew up on the Isle of Skye," Kuri said. "I've never seen most modern things, but I brought you a peace offering."
She handed him a small case. Ben's eyes lit up as he opened it.
"Sumo Slammers Smackdown?!" he exclaimed. "It's not even out yet! How'd you get this?"
"I have my ways," Kuri said with a sly smile. "Enjoy it! I'm going to make dinner. Why don't you take a walk while Grandpa Max and I get everything ready?"
"Yes, a chance to learn about Skyian cuisine!" Max said enthusiastically. "Kaori never shared that with me."
Kuri smiled, but Ben swore he caught a flicker of crimson in her eyes. He shook it off, staring after her in awe.
"She's… so cool."

Outside, the night sky split open as a fiery streak blazed across the heavens. Ben, looking up, gasped as the object crashed into the woods nearby.
"This summer just got a lot more awesome!" Ben grinned, sprinting toward the trees.
Unbeknownst to him, Kuri and Max exchanged knowing looks inside the Rust Bucket. This summer was going to be anything but ordinary.!
