Five Years Ago
The campfire crackled softly in the darkness, casting long shadows over the campsite. Ben Tennyson stirred, woken by the sound of footsteps crunching on fallen leaves. He sat up groggily, his eyes adjusting to see Kuri walking away, her figure silhouetted against the faint light of the moon.
"Kuri?" Ben called out, rubbing his eyes. She didn't respond, her steps stiff and unnatural. Something was wrong.
"Kuri, wait!" Ben stumbled to his feet and followed her.
When she finally turned to face him, Ben froze. It wasn't Kuri anymore.
Her eyes glowed an unnatural crimson, and her long blue hair rippled like water. Her pale skin had turned an icy blue, and her expression was twisted with cold arrogance. She radiated power—frightening, suffocating power.
"Kuri?" Ben whispered, his voice cracking with disbelief.
The woman tilted her head, a cruel smirk curling her lips. "Kuri? Oh, you poor, foolish ningen," she said, her voice an icy echo. "I am Khione, Queen of Ice and Fire. And this body has always belonged to me."

Ben instinctively slammed the Ultimatrix on his wrist. In a flash of green light, he transformed into Feedback. Electricity surged through his antennae as he stood firm. "I don't care who you are! Give Kuri back, now!"
Khione's smirk widened. "So eager to play the hero. How quaint. But do you truly think that toy can save you? You don't even know the power you hold—or the ruin it will bring."
She flicked her hand, and Feedback was yanked into the air by an invisible force. Sparks flew as her energy overwhelmed him. Ben screamed as visions flooded his mind—visions of his failures.
He saw Kuri, hurt because he couldn't protect her. Max, surrounded by enemies as Ben stood frozen in fear. The people he couldn't save, the lives he couldn't fix—all of it crashing down on him.
"You aren't a hero," Khione hissed, her eyes blazing brighter. "You are a fool who pretends to wear the mantle of a savior. I curse you, Ben Tennyson. The Ultimate Power you share with this vessel will become your damnation."
Her clawed hand clenched, and Feedback gasped as her power tightened around him.
Suddenly, Khione faltered, her grip loosening. "No… this isn't possible. The vessel… she's fighting back. Her connection to you… could it be this strong?"
Her form wavered as if torn between two states. With a shuddering cry, Khione disappeared, her icy power retreating. Kuri fell to her knees, gasping as the red glow in her eyes faded.
"Kuri!" Ben shouted, transforming back into himself as he ran to her side.
"This is bad," Kuri whispered, clutching her head. "She cursed you, Ben."
Ben forced a weak grin, trying to steady his own breathing. "Cursed? Pfft. No big deal. I'm Ben Tennyson, right? The curse won't work on a hero like me."
But deep down, he wasn't so sure.
Present Day
Ben jolted awake in bed, sweat pouring down his face. The familiar green glow of the Omnitrix on his nightstand comforted him, but only slightly.
It wasn't just a nightmare. He knew that. It was a memory—a memory he'd buried because it terrified him. Five years ago, Khione had cursed him, and her words had never stopped haunting him.
The door creaked open, and Reiko leaned in. Her fox ears twitched slightly. "Hey, you okay? You were yelling."
"Yeah, just a bad dream," Ben lied, running a hand through his hair. "No big deal."
Reiko narrowed her eyes. "Right. Well, if you're planning some last-minute heroics, you better hurry up. Kevin and I leave for college tomorrow, and I don't want to miss the send-off."
Ben forced a grin. "Got it."
As she left, Ben stared at the Omnitrix, his hand hovering over it. He had thought the Ultimate Power—the mysterious bond between him and Kuri—could only be accessed through the Ultimatrix. But what if that wasn't true? What if the power was still there, waiting for him to figure out how to use it?

Ben's thoughts were interrupted by a sudden chill sweeping through the room. The window frosted over, and an icy breeze howled inside, carrying with it a faint, familiar laugh.
A shadowy figure materialized in the moonlight, her form shifting between solid and ethereal. Khione.
"You thought you could escape me, Ben Tennyson?" she said, her voice dripping with malice. "The Ultimate Power is not yours to wield—it is mine. And it will destroy you both."
Ben jumped to his feet, slamming the Omnitrix. A flash of green light transformed him into Heatblast, flames roaring to life around him.
"Not this time, Khione," he said, his voice steady despite the fear gnawing at him.
Khione's laugh echoed again. "We shall see."
Before he could attack, she vanished, leaving only a trail of frost behind.

The next morning, Ben sat at the table, staring at the Omnitrix on his wrist as Reiko and Kevin packed their things. Kuri walked in, her expression tense.
"You felt her, didn't you?" Kuri asked, sitting down across from him.
Ben nodded. "Yeah. She's back. And she knows about the Ultimate Power."
Kuri sighed, tracing her finger over the rune marks on her hand. "We thought the Ultimatrix was the only way to unlock it. But I've been training, Ben. I think… I think the power is in us, not the tech."
Ben looked at her, realization dawning. "If that's true, we can use it again. We can stop her."
Kuri nodded. "But we need to be careful. If we mess this up… the curse could destroy us both."
Ben clenched his fist. "Then we don't mess up."
Reiko leaned into the doorway, her bags slung over her shoulder. "You two better not blow up the planet while we're gone."
Ben grinned, standing up. "No promises."
But as he looked at Kuri, he knew this fight was bigger than any alien he'd ever faced. The Ultimate Power wasn't just a tool—it was their connection, their bond. And Khione would do anything to take it.
This wasn't just a fight to save the world. This was personal.
