The bright, sterile lights of the hospital hallway felt suffocating as Ben paced back and forth, his hands clenching and unclenching. His thoughts raced with panic, guilt, and frustration, each one louder than the last.
"Maybe if I turn into Rath and yell at the doctors for a while, I could—"
"Ben," Reiko interrupted, her voice sharp but concerned, "what are you muttering about?" She stood nearby, leaning against the wall, her arms crossed.
Ben stopped pacing, running a hand through his disheveled hair. "I just… I need to do something, Reiko! She's in there, and I can't—I can't just stand here!"
Reiko's gaze softened, and she stepped closer. "Listen, I know how you feel. None of us know what to do right now. But you're not the only one who feels helpless. We all do."
Kevin approached, trying to lighten the mood. "Relax, Tennyson. Reiko here already made sure we won't have a crowd of reporters breathing down our necks."
Reiko smirked. "Yeah. After we got settled, I used my suggestion power on the cameras and told everyone to 'leave the heroes of Bellwood alone.'"
Kevin grinned. "Nice move, Foxy."
Reiko's smirk faded as she turned back to Ben. "But this isn't just about the reporters. You have to keep it together, Ben. For Kuri's sake."
Before Ben could respond, the door to the operating room opened, and the doctor stepped out, his face grim.
"Mr. Tennyson," the doctor began, his voice low. "We did all we could."

Ben's heart stopped. The words echoed in his ears, his vision narrowing as panic seized him.
"No," he whispered, his voice breaking. "No, you're wrong!" He shoved past the doctor and into the room. "Get out! All of you!"
The medical staff hesitated but left under his desperate command, leaving Ben alone with Kuri's still, bloodied body.
He dropped to his knees beside her, his trembling hands reaching for hers. The sight of her pale face, her once-vivid blue eyes closed, broke him in a way nothing ever had before.
"Kuri," he choked out, his voice raw. "I'm so sorry. I should've—I should've protected you. This is my fault." Tears streamed down his face, splashing onto her hand.
From the doorway, Reiko watched, her own eyes glistening with unshed tears. "It's not over, Ben," she said softly. "You can still save her."
Ben turned, desperation in his eyes. "How? Tell me how, and I'll do it!"
Reiko stepped into the room, her voice steady despite the emotion in it. "You have so much ki in you, Ben. That's what makes you strong. You can give her some of it—enough to bring her back."
Kevin appeared behind her, his usual cocky demeanor replaced by quiet determination. "She's right, man. You've got the power. You've always had it. You just have to use it."
Ben stared at Kuri, his mind racing. He didn't know how to channel ki or life energy. All he knew was that he couldn't lose her—not like this. Not ever.

His trembling hand brushed her cheek. "You're not gonna die," he whispered, his voice cracking. "I won't let you."
Ben leaned down, pressing his forehead to hers. "Please, Kuri," he begged. "I need you. I—I love you."
Without thinking, he closed the small distance between them and kissed her, his lips brushing hers with the gentlest touch.
A sudden, blinding pulse of energy erupted from the Omnitrix, engulfing the room in golden light. The air crackled with magic, the force of it pushing Kevin and Reiko back against the wall.
Ben didn't pull away, his lips still pressed to hers as the light surrounded them. He could feel the energy flowing from him into her, a warmth that pushed away the cold fear in his chest.
Kuri's body jerked slightly, and her hand twitched in his. Her eyes fluttered open, the familiar blue glowing faintly with the same golden energy.
"C'mon now," she said weakly, a small, teasing grin tugging at her lips. "You know I hate it when you cry, Alien Boy."
Ben pulled back, his tears replaced with a disbelieving laugh. "Kuri?"
She nodded, her grin growing. "You brought me back. I knew you would."
Reiko let out a shaky laugh of relief from the doorway. "Looks like the Ultimate Power isn't just a myth."

As the golden glow faded, Ben helped Kuri sit up, his hands steadying her as she leaned into him. He couldn't stop looking at her, the weight of what had just happened settling in his chest.
"Kuri," he said softly, his hand brushing a strand of hair from her face. "I thought I lost you."
She reached up, placing her hand over his. "You didn't. You saved me, Ben. You always do."
Kevin cleared his throat awkwardly. "Uh, not to interrupt or anything, but you two just, like, lit up the whole hospital with some crazy magic power. Think you might wanna figure out what that was about?"
Reiko smirked, stepping forward. "It's the Ultimate Power, obviously. The bond between you two just awakened it. You're connected, Ben. Always have been."
Ben glanced down at the Omnitrix, its core still glowing faintly. He tightened his grip on Kuri's hand. "If this power can save her, I don't care what it is. I'll figure it out later."
Kuri leaned her head against his shoulder, exhaustion tugging at her but comforted by his warmth. "Guess this means you're stuck with me, huh?"
Ben smiled, his heart swelling with relief and something deeper. "Wouldn't have it any other way."
The group stood together, the air around them still humming faintly with the lingering energy..
