Kuri followed Tanjiro into the Torii gate. "Tanchan do you have clairalience? You seem to sniff a lot?"
Tanjiro was confused. "What is that? I just have a really good sense of smell."
"It means that you can smell feelings and stuff." Kuri tapped his nose. "I have clairscientence. I can feel things. Sis has claircognicance. It was part of our training. Granny only accepts people with one."
"Oh!" Tanjiro began to understand. "Yes I can smell feelings as well. I guess I do have that."
Kuri suddenly stopped, stiffened, and collapsed, sobbing and breathing hard.
"Are you okay?!" Tanjiro knelt and touched her shoulder.
Kuri flinched. "Death…they are all going to die! I can't…I can't save them…or warn them, no no that's against the rede and I…dying everyone, all around me…"
"Hey." Tanjiro comforted. "All you can do is save who you can. Even if it's only one person. Cuz that one person could mean the difference."
Kuri grabbed him frantically. "You won't die, right? She gave him a pained look. "Pleeeease."
"I won't die." Tanjiro swore. "I'll do my best. Just like you will."
Kuri grabbed his hand and got up. "It's gonna be ok Tanjiro. I would know if you were gonna die."
Tanjiro blinked in shock.
"I know! Let's go together!" Kuri held up her bow. "I can trap em with this!'
Tanjiro beamed. "Sure!"
Kuri whirled and fired arrows, pinning three demons.
Tanjiro tried to ask them about Nezuko, but they smirked and said. "We aren't telling you anything demon slayer! You want a cure? Ask the miko to purify your sister—if you think she'll survive….heh heh…"
Kuri lunged and killed them with her sword. When they died, they were smiling peacefully, but before Tanjiro could ask her about it, there was a disgusting scent.
Suddenly Kuri stopped and hugged herself. "No…no!"
"Kuri!" Tanjiro rushed over.
"Something…horrible…is up ahead." She hissed.
"Then let's deal with it together." Tanjiro said firmly.
Kuri looked away as a tear fell, biting her lip. "I don't want…"
"I'll protect you then." Tanjiro amended.
He helped Kuri along, until they came upon the demon. The demon loomed over them, holding the corpses of other victims.
"S-stop…stop!" Kuri got in front of Tanjiro, firing several arrows, knocking the corpses out of the demons hands. "I know what you want. You can't have Tanjiro!"
The demon licked his lips. "I think eating you will make me stronger then a thousand of urokodaki's disciples…Miko!"
Tanjiro bristled. "Like hell I'm going to let you have her!"
But Kuri was already in attack position. "Then try it! Just leave him alone! He's important to me! Sacred breathing! Third form! Clairscientience!" She cut off its arms, dropping the victims. "It hurts! They are in pain, and you feel that now, too!"
"Undo it!" The demon screeched. "I don't like feeling human pain! I don't care about them!"
"If you didn't care…it wouldn't hurt." Kuri pinned him with her arrows.
Tanjiro gripped his sword, shocked that she made the demon feel human pain.
The demon lunged for her.
Tanjiro got in front her her and attacked.
Kuri shook herself and joined him. "Sixth form. Clairaudience!" Screams erupted from her blade.
From far off, Zenitsu stiffened and walked toward the sound.
Tanjiro attacked the demon.
"I ate all of Urokodaki's deciples and you will be a nice addition. And Miko will take me to the Upper Ranks!"
Kuri growled. "I TOLD you hands off!" She and Tanjiro attacked and they sliced the head off together.
"We did it!" Tanjiro cried.
Kuri slightly punched his arm. "You don't have to protect me, Tanchan."
"But I wanted to!"
