Disclaimer: I do not own anything. If that wasn't already blatantly obvious.

Here is the first chapter of the story. Also if someone could explain to me how Naruto failed four times in the academy yet is still the same age as Sasuke and Sakura. I always wondered how that worked out. Enjoy the chapter!

Chapter 1: A New Beginning

Naruto Uzumaki trudged alongside Shisui Uchiha, his mind a whirlwind of excitement and apprehension. He couldn't believe the day had turned out like this. Sure, it had started like any other—him pulling off some pranks, riling up the villagers, and dodging a few shinobi—but now, here he was, walking beside one of the most legendary members of the Uchiha clan, who had somehow decided to take him under his wing.

The streets of Konoha were quiet as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows that danced with the last light of day. Shisui walked with an air of casual confidence, his hands tucked into his pockets, as if he didn't have a care in the world. Naruto, on the other hand, fidgeted, glancing up at him every few seconds, unsure how to break the silence.

"So," Naruto finally blurted, "what's first, Sensei?"

Shisui chuckled, his dark eyes glinting with amusement. "Eager, huh? I like that. But before we jump into any hardcore training, we need to figure out where you stand."

"Stand? What do you mean?" Naruto tilted his head, his bright blue eyes narrowing in confusion.

Shisui stopped walking and turned to face him, his expression serious but kind. "I mean your strengths, your weaknesses, and what drives you. Every ninja has their own path, and the first step to walking yours is knowing yourself."

Naruto crossed his arms, puffing out his chest. "That's easy! I'm strong, I'm fast, and I never give up! Believe it!"

Shisui smirked. "Good confidence. But strength and speed alone don't make a great ninja, Naruto. Let me show you something."

With a fluid motion, Shisui stepped back and performed a simple hand sign. Before Naruto could react, he felt a sudden rush of wind at his back, and when he turned around, he was face-to-face with... another Shisui.

"What the—?!" Naruto yelped, stumbling back.

"Shadow Clone Jutsu," Shisui explained, both versions of him speaking in perfect unison. "It's a forbidden technique that creates solid clones. Like I mentioned before, it will be this jutsu that will be of great help to you."

Naruto's jaw dropped. "Cool…when will you teach me it…"

Shisui raised an eyebrow. "You already know the basics of the Clone Jutsu, right?"

Naruto winced. "Uh... not exactly. Mine come out kinda... wonky."

Shisui chuckled, dispelling the clone with a wave of his hand. "Then we've got our starting point. But first, let's head somewhere quiet. Training in the middle of the village might not be the best idea."

Naruto nodded enthusiastically, following Shisui as they made their way toward the outskirts of the village. The air grew cooler as they left the bustling streets behind, and soon, they arrived at a secluded training ground surrounded by tall trees. The grass was soft underfoot, and the faint sound of a nearby stream added to the peaceful atmosphere.

"This place is perfect!" Naruto declared, spinning around to take it all in. "Alright, Sensei, what's next?"

Shisui smiled, sitting down on a tree stump and motioning for Naruto to join him. "Before we get into techniques, let's talk about your chakra."

"My chakra?" Naruto repeated, plopping down on the grass.

"Exactly. Chakra is the foundation of everything a shinobi does. From basic jutsu to advanced techniques, it all starts with controlling your chakra. And lucky for you, you've got a lot of it."

Naruto grinned, puffing out his chest again. "Yeah, I do! The old man at the ramen stand says I've got more chakra than anyone in the village!"

Shisui nodded. "He's not wrong. But having a lot of chakra doesn't mean much if you can't control it. Imagine trying to fill a cup with water using a waterfall. If you don't control the flow, you'll just make a mess."

Naruto frowned, scratching his head. "So... you're saying I need to learn how to turn my waterfall into a faucet?"

"Exactly." Shisui reached into his pouch and pulled out a small, round leaf. He handed it to Naruto. "We'll start with something simple. This is a chakra control exercise called the Leaf Concentration Practice. All you have to do is stick this leaf to your forehead using only your chakra."

Naruto blinked. "That's it? That sounds easy!"

Shisui smirked. "Give it a try."

Eager to impress, Naruto pressed the leaf to his forehead and concentrated. He closed his eyes, focusing all his energy on keeping the leaf in place. For a moment, it seemed to work—until the leaf fluttered to the ground.

"Hey! What gives?!" Naruto exclaimed, picking up the leaf.

Shisui chuckled. "It's harder than it looks, isn't it? The key is to find the right balance. Too much chakra, and you'll blow the leaf away. Too little, and it'll fall off."

Naruto grumbled, his determination igniting. "Alright, I'll get it this time. Believe it!"

As Naruto continued his attempts, Shisui leaned back, watching with a mix of amusement and admiration. The kid had a long way to go, but his determination was undeniable. And beneath that determination, Shisui could see something else—a spark of potential that, if nurtured, could grow into something extraordinary.

Hours passed as Naruto practiced, his frustration mounting with each failed attempt. But Shisui offered gentle guidance, teaching him to breathe, focus, and trust in his own abilities. And slowly but surely, Naruto began to improve.

By the time the moon was high in the sky, Naruto managed to keep the leaf stuck to his forehead for a full minute.

"I did it!" he shouted, jumping to his feet. "Sensei, did you see that?"

Shisui smiled, giving him a thumbs-up. "Not bad, Naruto. You're getting the hang of it."

Naruto beamed, his earlier frustration forgotten. For the first time in a long time, he felt like he was accomplishing something—not through pranks or mischief, but through hard work and determination.

"Alright, Sensei," Naruto said, his voice brimming with newfound confidence. "What's next?"

Shisui's smile widened. "Your reward for managing to get this chakra exercise down will be to learn the Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

"Awesome! I'm going to become the strongest ninja in no time at all!" Naruto jumped in glee, his eyes sparkling at the prospect of the village bowing before his power!.

"Focus Naruto. Stop drooling." Shisui deadpanned. "Now this is how you do the Shadow Clone Jutsu. Make the hand sign and control your chakra too precisely split your chakra evenly among the clones. This is where your earlier practice comes into play."

Shisui demonstrated the hand sign slowly, giving Naruto a clear view of each movement. Then, with a slight pulse of chakra, three identical clones of Shisui appeared beside him. They gave Naruto encouraging nods before dispelling into wisps of smoke.

"Whoa!" Naruto's jaw dropped. "That's so cool! So, I just make the hand sign and focus on splitting my chakra evenly, right?"

"Exactly," Shisui said, crossing his arms. "But don't rush it. Take your time to feel your chakra and control it. Ready?"

Naruto nodded enthusiastically, his hands already forming the seal. He closed his eyes, focusing intently on the swirling energy within him. He tried to recall the same steady flow he'd used during the leaf exercise, but the sheer excitement made his chakra surge wildly.

"Shadow Clone Jutsu!" Naruto shouted, pushing his chakra outward.

Poof!

When the smoke cleared, a single, deformed clone stood beside him, its face lopsided, one arm smaller than the other. The clone looked at Naruto, blinked, and promptly fell over.

Naruto groaned. "Aw, come on! What did I do wrong?"

"You're using too much chakra," Shisui explained patiently. "Remember, it's about balance. Try again, but this time, focus on making the flow steady and even."

Naruto gritted his teeth and tried again. This time, two clones appeared—but one was missing an arm, and the other vanished almost immediately.

For the next hour, Naruto kept trying, each attempt getting a little better but still far from perfect. Shisui offered calm, constructive advice after each attempt, his patience unyielding.

Finally, as the first hints of dawn began to streak the sky, Naruto formed the hand seal one more time. His brows furrowed in concentration, and his chakra pulsed steadily.

"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

Poof!

This time, when the smoke cleared, three identical Narutos stood proudly beside him.

"I did it!" Naruto whooped, jumping up and down in excitement. "Sensei, look! I did it!"

Shisui clapped his hands together, his smile wide and genuine. "Well done, Naruto. That's real progress. How does it feel?"

"Awesome!" Naruto grinned, his clones cheering alongside him. "I'm gonna master this jutsu and become the strongest ninja ever!"

"You've taken your first step," Shisui said, ruffling Naruto's hair. "But remember, this is just the beginning. The Shadow Clone Jutsu is a tool—it's how you use it that counts. With this, you can train smarter and faster than ever before."

Naruto nodded, his determination renewed. "I'll work super hard, Sensei! You'll see!"

Shisui chuckled. "I'm counting on it. But first, we both need some rest. Let's head back and—"

Growl!

"You're really hungry, huh?" Shisui chuckled, his hands resting in his pockets. "With the energy you burned today, I'm not surprised. Got any favorite places to eat?"

Naruto's eyes lit up, and he pointed excitedly ahead. "Ichiraku Ramen! It's the best place in the whole village! You've gotta try it, Sensei!"

"Ramen, huh?" Shisui raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a smirk. "I'm not usually one for ramen, but I guess I can make an exception. Lead the way, Naruto."

The boy didn't need to be told twice. He bolted ahead, leaving Shisui trailing at a leisurely pace. By the time Shisui caught up, Naruto was already pushing aside the curtain that marked the entrance to the humble little stand.

"Teuchi-jiji! Ayame-neechan! I'm here!" Naruto's voice rang out.

Behind the counter, Teuchi, the ramen stand's jovial owner, looked up from the steaming pot of broth he was tending. His face broke into a wide smile.

"Ah, Naruto! Right on time for dinner, as always. And you've brought a guest?"

"Yup! This is Shisui-sensei!" Naruto announced proudly, tugging the older shinobi by the sleeve and pulling him toward the counter. "He's my new teacher, and he's awesome!"

Shisui inclined his head politely. "Pleasure to meet you. I've heard nothing but good things about this place."

"You've been missing out, then!" Ayame, Teuchi's cheerful daughter, chimed in as she placed two steaming bowls on the counter for other customers. "Naruto's practically a walking advertisement for us."

"Darn right I am!" Naruto declared, hopping onto his usual stool. "Alright, Teuchi-jiji, hit me with a big bowl of miso ramen! No, wait—make that two bowls! I'm starving!"

Teuchi chuckled. "Coming right up. And for you, Shisui?"

"I'll take whatever you recommend," Shisui said, taking a seat beside Naruto.

"Smart choice!" Ayame grinned. "Dad's specials never miss."

As Teuchi got to work, Naruto turned to Shisui, swinging his legs idly. "So, Sensei, you've gotta try the miso ramen. It's the best thing ever! I bet it'll blow your mind."

Shisui rested his chin on his hand, watching the boy with amused eyes. "You're really passionate about ramen, huh?"

"Of course!" Naruto exclaimed. "Ramen's not just food—it's a way of life! When I become Hokage, I'm gonna make sure everyone in the village knows how awesome it is."

Shisui smirked. "A Hokage who's a ramen ambassador? That's definitely a first."

"Exactly! I'll be the coolest Hokage ever," Naruto said, grinning ear to ear. "And you'll see—once I've got this whole ninja thing down, no one's gonna be able to stop me."

"Big dreams," Shisui said, his tone thoughtful. "But dreams are good. They give you something to work toward. Just remember, it's the journey that matters as much as the destination."

Naruto tilted his head. "What about you, Sensei? What's your dream?"

Shisui paused, his expression softening as he leaned back slightly. "My dream? To see the village at peace. A place where everyone—Uchiha or not—feels like they belong."

Naruto blinked, his usual boisterous energy fading for a moment. "You mean... people treat you different, too?"

Shisui's gaze flicked to Naruto, his smile faint but genuine. "Let's just say we both know what it's like to stand out in a crowd for things you can't control."

Before Naruto could respond, Teuchi placed two steaming bowls of ramen in front of them. The rich aroma filled the air, making Naruto's stomach growl again.

"There you go! Two bowls of miso ramen for our number one customer, and a special house ramen for his guest."

"Thanks, Teuchi-jiji!" Naruto said eagerly, grabbing his chopsticks. "Itadakimasu!"

Shisui followed suit, lifting his chopsticks with a slight bow of thanks. The moment he took his first bite, his eyes widened slightly in surprise.

"This is... really good," Shisui admitted.

"Told ya!" Naruto said through a mouthful of noodles, slurping enthusiastically. "Best. Ramen. Ever!"

Ayame giggled as she wiped down the counter. "We'll have to put you in charge of marketing, Naruto."

As they ate, the conversation flowed easily. Naruto regaled Shisui with stories of his past pranks, each one wilder than the last, while Shisui shared tales from his own time as a young genin. Teuchi and Ayame chimed in occasionally, adding to the lively atmosphere.

By the time they finished their meals, Naruto was leaning back in his seat, patting his stomach with satisfaction. "Man, that hit the spot. Thanks, Teuchi-jiji!"

"Anytime, Naruto," Teuchi said warmly. "And it was good to meet you, Shisui. Take care of our little troublemaker, will you?"

Shisui smiled, placing a few bills on the counter. "I'll do my best. Thanks for the meal—it was fantastic."

As they left the stand, Naruto let out a contented sigh. "Told you it was awesome, didn't I?"

"You weren't wrong," Shisui admitted. "Though I think the company made it even better."

Naruto looked up at him, his eyes shining. "You mean it?"

Shisui nodded. "Yeah, Naruto. I mean it."

For the first time in a long while, Naruto felt like he wasn't alone. And as they walked back into the quiet streets of Konoha, the bond between them grew just a little stronger.

Shisui stood on a high branch, the cool night breeze rustling through the leaves of the forest surrounding Konoha. Below, the village was quiet, the warm glow of lanterns dotting the streets. The silhouette of his closest friend, Itachi Uchiha, appeared from the shadows, his expression as composed as ever.

"It's good to see you, Shisui," Itachi said softly, stepping onto the branch beside him.

Shisui gave him a small smile, leaning casually against the trunk of the tree. "Likewise, Itachi. I was wondering when you'd show up. How are things?"

Itachi's dark eyes flickered with a hint of weariness. "Tense. The clan grows restless, and the elders are more determined than ever to see this coup through."

Shisui's smile faded, his expression turning somber. "I was afraid you'd say that. One month isn't much time to stop something this big."

Itachi nodded, his hands tightening into fists at his sides. "They won't listen to reason, Shisui. The clan sees it as their only path to survival. The village sees the Uchiha as a threat. Neither side will yield."

Shisui closed his eyes briefly, taking a deep breath. "Then we have to find a way to make them see. This can't end in bloodshed, Itachi. There has to be another way."

"And if there isn't?" Itachi's voice was quiet but heavy with the weight of his question.

"Then we make one," Shisui said firmly, his resolve unwavering. "The Kotoamatsukami might be our only chance to turn this around. I've been refining my control over it, but I need to be certain it will work when the time comes."

Itachi hesitated, his gaze searching Shisui's face. "Are you sure about this? Using your Mangekyō to manipulate the clan's will—it's a burden no one should have to bear."

"I know," Shisui replied, his voice softening. "But if it can save lives, I'll bear that burden. And if it fails, we'll have to rely on you to make the hardest decision of all."

A heavy silence hung between them, the enormity of the situation pressing down like a suffocating weight.

Shisui broke the tension with a wry smile. "Enough of the doom and gloom for now. I've actually been keeping busy with something that doesn't involve plotting against my own clan."

Itachi arched an eyebrow. "Oh? And what would that be?"

"Training Naruto Uzumaki," Shisui said, his grin widening at Itachi's surprised expression.

"The jinchūriki?" Itachi asked, genuinely intrigued.

"Yeah. The kid's rough around the edges, but he's got more potential than I've seen in a long time. He reminds me of you in some ways—determined, resourceful, and carrying a weight that no child should have to bear."

Itachi's gaze softened. "And how is he handling your training?"

Shisui chuckled. "He's as stubborn as they come, but he's making progress. And more importantly, he's starting to believe in himself. I think he might actually have what it takes to change this village someday."

Itachi's lips curved into a faint smile. "You've always had an eye for seeing the best in people, Shisui. If anyone can help Naruto unlock his potential, it's you."

Shisui's grin turned mischievous. "And if I can't, I'll send him your way. Maybe you can bore him into submission with one of your lectures."

Itachi gave him a rare laugh, the sound brief but genuine. "I'll keep that in mind."

The two fell into a companionable silence, the weight of their mission temporarily set aside. For a moment, it felt like they were just two friends sharing the quiet of the night.

In his small, cluttered apartment, Naruto sat cross-legged on his bed, staring at the ceiling. The faint glow of the moonlight filtered through his window, casting shadows on the walls.

His thoughts were a whirlwind, racing between the events of the day and the conversation he'd had with Shisui at Ichiraku's.

"Peace," Naruto murmured to himself, the word lingering in his mind like a beacon.

Shisui's dream of a peaceful village, a world without war, had struck a chord deep within him. It was a dream that felt impossible, yet it was one he couldn't stop thinking about.

For as long as he could remember, Naruto had been an outcast, shunned and despised for reasons he didn't fully understand. The villagers saw him as the demon fox, a monster in human form. But Shisui—Shisui had looked at him and seen something else.

He'd seen Naruto.

For the first time, someone had believed in him, not out of pity or obligation, but because they saw something worth believing in.

"I'll do it," Naruto whispered, his fists clenching with determination. "I'll get stronger. Not for me, but for Shisui—for his dream. For the village."

The faint sound of the wind outside was the only response, but Naruto didn't need an answer. His resolve burned brightly, filling the small room with a sense of purpose.

"I'll prove them wrong," he said, his voice growing louder. "I'll show them all that I'm not the demon fox. I'm Naruto Uzumaki, and I'll make Shisui's dream a reality!"

The moonlight bathed his face, illuminating the fierce determination in his eyes.

Tomorrow, he would train harder than ever before. He would push himself to his limits and beyond. For the first time, Naruto felt like he wasn't just chasing a dream—he was chasing a future worth fighting for.

And he wasn't alone.

The morning sun bathed the training ground in a golden glow as Naruto stood with Shisui, brimming with excitement. His hands twitched in anticipation, eager to dive back into the training that had consumed his thoughts all night.

"Alright, Naruto," Shisui began, his tone measured. "Today, we're going to push things a step further. You're already decent at the basics, but now we'll see how far we can stretch your abilities. Are you ready?"

Naruto pumped a fist in the air. "Ready? I was born ready! Let's go, Sensei!"

Shisui chuckled, shaking his head. "Alright, first task—using your Shadow Clones for efficiency. Instead of one Naruto practicing at a time, we're going to use your... excessive chakra reserves to create an army of clones. Each one will work on a single task, speeding up your learning process. But remember, the key here is balance and control."

Naruto's grin widened. "No problem! Watch this!"

He formed the familiar hand sign. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

With a thunderous poof, the clearing filled with hundreds of identical Narutos. They stood shoulder to shoulder, their expressions mirroring the original's unbridled enthusiasm.

"Whoa, this is awesome!" Naruto exclaimed, spinning around to take in the sheer number of clones.

Shisui whistled, impressed despite himself. "Alright, that's... more than I expected. Let's split them into groups. We'll have some clones working on chakra control exercises, others on taijutsu katas, and a few on jutsu applications. Divide them up, and I'll supervise."

Naruto nodded, quickly barking orders to his clones. The field became a hive of activity as groups formed and began their tasks.

"Good coordination," Shisui said, his voice carrying approval. "Now, let's focus on chakra control first. You'll need it for everything else."

One group of clones practiced sticking leaves to their foreheads, their brows furrowed in concentration. Another group balanced on tree branches, attempting to maintain their chakra flow without slipping. Shisui moved between them, correcting postures and offering tips.

"Focus on steady flow, not bursts," Shisui reminded. "Your clones are doing well, but the original needs to set the example."

Naruto grinned sheepishly. "Got it, Sensei!"

Hours passed, and progress became evident. The clones balancing on trees moved with more confidence, while those working on taijutsu katas mirrored Shisui's fluid movements with increasing precision.

"Alright, Naruto," Shisui called out, gathering the clones. "Let's shift to practical applications. I want you to incorporate substitution jutsu into your taijutsu. And remember, your clones can be tools. Think creatively."

Naruto's eyes sparkled with excitement. "You got it, Sensei!"

The next round of training involved sparring, with Naruto using clones for feints and substitutions. One particularly clever move saw Naruto replacing himself mid-air with a clone that immediately counterattacked, catching Shisui off guard.

Shisui laughed, sidestepping the strike. "Now that's what I'm talking about! Keep it up, Naruto!"

Encouraged, Naruto pushed harder, creating complex strategies using his clones. His ingenuity began to shine as he experimented with new ways to use the Shadow Clones, turning them into shields, distractions, and even stepping stones for mid-air maneuvers.

"Sensei, check this out!" Naruto shouted, leaping off a clone's back to dodge Shisui's kunai and land a spinning kick.

Shisui blocked the kick, his smile widening. "Impressive, Naruto. You're starting to think like a shinobi."

As the sun dipped lower in the sky, Naruto's energy showed no signs of waning. He created even more clones, pushing the number well into the hundreds. The training ground buzzed with activity, each clone focused on perfecting a specific technique.

But as the day wore on, Naruto began to falter. His movements grew sluggish, and sweat dripped down his face.

"Sensei... I think I've got it," Naruto panted, forming the seal to dispel his clones.

"Wait—" Shisui began, but it was too late.

With a deafening poof, the clones vanished, leaving behind a tidal wave of memories that crashed into Naruto's mind. He staggered, clutching his head as the overwhelming influx of information overwhelmed his senses.

"Ahh!" Naruto cried out, his knees buckling.

Shisui was at his side in an instant, catching him before he hit the ground. "Damn it, Naruto! I told you to pace yourself!"

Naruto's eyes fluttered shut, his breathing shallow. Shisui hoisted him onto his back, his jaw clenched.

"I'm taking you to the hospital," Shisui said, his voice low.

In the sterile quiet of Konoha Hospital, Shisui stood beside Naruto's bed, his arms crossed as he watched the boy's sleeping form. The door opened, and Hiruzen Sarutobi entered, his expression grave.

"Shisui, what happened?" the Hokage asked.

Shisui explained the events, his frustration evident. "The kid's potential is boundless, but his recklessness nearly got him killed. He needs help managing the mental strain from using so many clones."

Hiruzen nodded thoughtfully. "The Yamanaka clan specializes in techniques that fortify the mind. I'll request Inoichi Yamanaka's assistance. This will require a favor, but ensuring Naruto's safety is worth the cost."

True to his word, Inoichi arrived shortly after, his demeanor calm but focused.

"I understand the situation," Inoichi said, examining Naruto carefully. "The backlash from dispelling hundreds of clones at once is no small matter. His mind is resilient, but we can enhance it further."

"What do you have in mind?" Shisui asked.

"There's a technique we've developed," Inoichi explained. "It strengthens mental pathways, allowing for better memory integration and resistance to mental fatigue. It also enhances clarity of thought—a boon for someone with Naruto's potential. But he will need to practice a set of chakra control exercises developed specifically to strengthen the mind but this is a clan secret."

Hiruzen nodded. "Proceed. This boy carries the future of the village on his shoulders. We can discuss the price afterwards. I'll make sure you are well compensated."

As Inoichi performed the technique, Shisui watched intently, his thoughts racing. Naruto had come so far in such a short time, but guiding him would require more than skill—it would demand patience, wisdom, and unwavering dedication.

When Inoichi finished, Naruto stirred, his eyes fluttering open.

"Sensei?" Naruto murmured, his voice groggy.

Shisui leaned over him, his expression softening. "I'm here, Naruto. Rest for now. We'll pick up where we left off soon."

Naruto's lips curved into a small smile. "I'll get stronger, Sensei. I promise."

Shisui smiled back. "I know you will, Naruto. I know you will."

As the boy drifted back to sleep, Shisui's resolve hardened. Whatever it took, he would see Naruto reach his full potential. For the boy's sake—and for the future of the village.

And here is the first chapter of the story. Now as you can see, due to Shisui's meddling, Naruto's character, motivations and many different aspects will start to become different from canon. Naruto's subtle changes in character will directly effect the direction the story goes and as seen by the writing the pacing will be while not fast but semi-fast? I guess I'm not one for dallying around and like to get to the meat of the story but will try to make sure not to outpace any key parts of the narrative.
