"Can I open my eyes yet?" Kagami asked, as Felix kept his hands over her eyes. "Not yet….here. Okay, you can open them."
Kagami opened her eyes, eyes widening as she stared at the pagoda decorated for Christmas. Ever since she'd been a little girl, she'd wanted to live in one, and until she met and married Felix, she thought the dream was gone forever.
"Come, let's look at the tree," Felix took her hand, leading her inside where the scent of pine was rich and heavy in the air. Ornament balls and sliver ribbons swayed gently on the tree, with a weaving of tiny lights woven in between.
"Merry Christmas, Kagami," Felix drew her close. "Oh! I have a gift for you, though it's not as elaborate as the tree," Kagami handed Felix a small red and gold wrapped box.
Nestled in front of the fire, Felix carefully pulled off the ribbon, discovering a handmade glass bead peacock nestled in a tissue bed. "I made it before we left Paris," Kagami's eyes and face shone in the light of the fire. "Do you like it?"
"My Queen, I never received such a gift as beautiful as this." "And now, I have another gift." Leaning close, the lover's kissed.
It was about to be a new year with new beginnings, but the love Kagami and Felix felt for each other would blossom even more so when Kagami became a mother in the glad new year.
