Chapter 38: Carol Underground

Angel Island – Mushroom Hill, Morning Hours

Back in Mushroom Hill a low hum filled the air as a shadow moved over the towering mushrooms of the forest. Descending slowly through the canopy was Metal Lilac, her metallic form catching the soft morning light filtering through the mushroom caps. Her engine thrummed steadily as she neared the ground, landing on the forest floor.

For a moment, she stood still, her sensors scanning the area, taking in every detail of her surroundings. According to her database, this was Mushroom Hill. But as her eyes moved across the landscape, her sensors feeding back detailed images and sensory data, Metal Lilac found herself… fascinated. The towering mushroom trees stretched high above her.

With curiosity that seemed almost uncharacteristic of her, Metal Lilac crouched down, reaching out to pluck a small mushroom from the ground. She held it between her fingers, rotating it to examine the delicate textures and colors. Beautiful… Her processors echoed the word as she took in its details. This place—it was far more captivating than the flat images stored in her memory banks. She was only in one section of this vast island, yet already the experience of it was unlike anything she had ever sensed.

For a long moment, Metal Lilac stayed that way, absorbing the details of her surroundings. Her processors registered feelings of intrigue, a yearning to explore more of this beautiful, mysterious place.

But her core directives soon flared in her mind, breaking through the calm that had settled over her. She straightened abruptly, her circuits registering a slight flicker of frustration. This distraction… these thoughts… She could feel them tugging at her programming. Such feelings were new, unexpected—and they were hindering her.

Metal Lilac's engine revved as she dismissed the distraction, focusing on the mission with renewed clarity. She had lost precious time. If her database was correct, she would find the Master Emerald and its guardian not far from here, somewhere deep in the sanctuary at the island's heart. Her eyes lingered on the mushroom-covered landscape around her, a faint pull of regret registering in her processors as she realized she would have to leave it behind. But maybe… maybe someday, if her creator's vision was fulfilled, she would have the chance to explore this place freely.

Turning away from the view, she powered up with a faint hum, her engine flaring to life. With a final look back, she launched herself into the skies, leaving the surreal beauty of Mushroom Hill behind as she ascended, her mind now focused entirely on her mission: finding the Master Emerald and fulfilling her creator's command.

Angel Island – Underground Tunnels

Beneath the sands of Sandopolis lay an ancient maze of tunnels, a sprawling labyrinth that stretched for miles beneath the surface. The underground passageways were cold and silent, with an air thick with the scent of ancient stone and dust from centuries of solitude, fragments of the forgotten history carved into the walls.

Suddenly, a hole burst open in one of these tunnels, and with a startled scream, a green wildcat fell through, tumbling down before hitting the rocky floor with a heavy thud.

"Aahhh… Uf!"

Carol hit the ground face-first, her breath knocked out of her. With a groan, she pushed herself up, coughing as she spat out a mouthful of gritty sand. "Ugh… Coff, coff!" She blinked rapidly, trying to clear the dust from her eyes, wiping at them as they watered.

"Where… coff… am I?" she muttered, her voice a small echo in the space around her. Her gaze shot upwards, tracing the path back to the hole far above. The climb was steep, the walls loose with sandy rock. She knew immediately it was too high and unstable to make her way back up. "Oh no! How am I supposed to get back up there?" Panic laced her voice as she took in the reality of her situation.

Her mind raced as she thought of Lilac, Tails, and the others up there. She wasn't even sure what was the thing that had caused the ground to collapse. "Ugh!" she grunted in frustration. She could only hope they were safe up there… and she needed to find a way to get back to them somehow.

Determined not to let fear overwhelm her, Carol straightened up, brushing the dust off her fur and adjusting her goggles. The tunnel stretched out before her, flickers of light broke through here and there from cracks in the ceiling, casting a faint glow along her path.

She took a deep breath, steeling herself. "I guess I'll try finding a way out through these tunnels," she said aloud, her voice sounding small in the darkness. "Hope they find me soon…"

The underground passage seemed endless as she walked, her footsteps echoing softly in the silence. The journey had been grueling, and for a moment, the weight of everything that had happened pressed down on her, making her feel smaller and more tired than she wanted to admit. She thought of all the near-escapes, the battles, the constant rushing and dodging. It felt as if it had been a whirlwind, leaving her exhausted.

"What am I even thinking?" she muttered to herself, shaking her head to dispel the weariness creeping over her. She forced herself to press on, her usual confidence flickering back to life as she focused on finding her way forward.

To distract herself, she studied the tunnel's walls. Patterns and carvings adorned the rough stone, their details fine and surprisingly well-preserved. As she looked closer, she could make out intricate scenes, chiseled into the rock, a glimpse into the lives of a civilization long gone.

"Sheesh, that's a lot of paintings," Carol muttered, pausing to study a section that depicted figures resembling what she assumed where echidnas. Her eyes lingered on the details, which showed scenes of everyday life, from families gathered in what seemed to be small homes to warriors training in the art of battle.

"Tails did say Knuckles was the last of his kind." The memory of Tails telling that story back at the treehouse resurfaced in her mind. "What happened to the rest, I wonder…" She trailed off, her thoughts drifting as she walked. It was a strange thought—an entire people, just gone. She couldn't imagine what it would be like to be the only one left.

As she continued, more images unfolded, showing not only the echidnas' daily lives but also something darker. Some of the murals seemed to depict a war, scenes of battle etched with stark detail. She wrinkled her nose, trying to make sense of the images. History had never been her thing, and the confusing symbols and intricate carvings were starting to give her a bit of a headache.

Then, something caught her eye—figures that didn't look like echidnas. They were larger, with horns and some of them had wings. "Hey… those are dragons," she said aloud, her curiosity rekindling. She looked more closely, her eyes lighting up with recognition. "Yeah, they look just like the murals from Relic Island!" Memories of her adventure with Lilac and Sonic flashed through her mind, and she could almost picture those ancient paintings within the mountain's hidden caverns. Could these two groups have known each other?

Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted by a loud click beneath her foot. "Huh?" Carol barely had time to glance around before an arrow trap activated, sending a projectile hurtling toward her. "Nya!" She yelped, ducking just in time as the arrow whizzed by, shattering against the wall and crumbling into dust.

"Jeez! Was that a trap?!" she exclaimed, her heart racing as she eyed the remnants of the arrow. It had disintegrated almost instantly. "Woah, that must have been set like a bazillion years ago." The thought sent a shiver down her spine.

Trying to catch her breath, she leaned against a nearby wall, only to hear a faint click again. "Uah!" she cried, stumbling back as the ceiling above her groaned ominously. A spiked wall dropped from above, crashing down exactly where she had been standing moments before.

"Seriously?!" She clutched her chest, adrenaline flooding her veins.

With renewed caution, she continued forward, but every step seemed to bring new dangers. Another stone button pressed beneath her foot, activating a row of spears that shot out from the walls, forcing her to duck and roll out of the way.

She barely caught her breath before more arrows zipped past, and she narrowly dodged as a massive stone slab tried to close in on her from both sides. Each time, she yelped and scrambled, her reflexes just fast enough to escape unscathed.

Finally, she collapsed against a wall, panting heavily, her hand over her racing heart. "Huff… this cannot get any worse!" She tried to steady her breath, but her words seemed to taunt fate itself. No sooner had she spoken than a heavy thud sounded behind her. Carol's ears perked up as her eyes went wide, turning slowly to face the source of the ominous sound.

A massive boulder loomed at the other end of the tunnel, dislodged and rolling straight toward her. "...Déjà vu…" she muttered, her face paling as she realized what was about to happen.

Sandopolis

In the blazing heat of Sandopolis, Lilac, Tails, and Torque fought against Prince Dail of Shuigang and his formidable mechanical peacock, the Kujacker. The robots wings spread wide, gleaming in the sunlight, and it let out a piercing screech before launching a series of electrified balls toward them. The trio jumped and spun, barely escaping the bolts of energy that crackled as they struck the sand, leaving scorched craters in their wake.

They had tried striking back, but the Kujacker's metal feathers deflected every hit with ease. Lilac attempted a swift kick aimed at one of its talons, only to find her foot bouncing off the metallic armor. Torque fired several precise laser shots from his blaster, but each beam only glanced off the machine's wings, barely leaving a scratch. Tails followed up with a spin dash aimed at the bird's chest, but the Kujacker merely puffed out its chest with a haughty flap, absorbing the hit without so much as a dent.

"Give up! Your fate is sealed!" Dail boasted from his perch atop the massive robot. He looked down at them with a twisted smirk, his voice filled with a mocking superiority. "Suffer under Shuigang's power!"

"Was he always like this before the brainwash?!" Tails yelled, dodging a powerful wind slash as the Kujacker's wing sliced the air dangerously close to him.

"No clue!" Lilac shouted back, launching herself into a Dragon Boost that narrowly dodged a vicious peck. "I only met him once, and that was years ago!"

"Maybe I should've mentioned it sooner, but the Snatcher tends to amplify negative traits in those it controls!" Torque called out as he fired another laser at the Kujacker. "At least… that's what Whirl told me… Woah!" He ducked as an electro ball whizzed by, nearly taking his head off.

"Face it, fools! My Kujacker has no weakness!" Dail sneered, and as if to punctuate his words, the mechanical bird spread its wings, unleashing a barrage of electro balls that rained down on them.

"Any ideas on how to damage this thing?" Lilac yelled, nimbly leaping over another incoming electro ball.

Hovering above the battlefield, Tails narrowed his eyes, examining the bird's design as he searched for any potential weak spots, any robot always had a weak spot. His keen gaze caught sight of a faint crack on one of the blue gems embedded within the Kujacker's feathers. That's it, he thought, an idea forming. With a determination, he launched into the air, spinning into a tight ball and performing a midair spin dash straight toward another of the gems. His impact cracked it, sending a painful screech through the Kujacker as it shuddered from the blow, and Dail nearly lost his grip as the bird faltered.

Tails landed on the sand, a satisfied smile on his face. "The peacock's feathers, the tail—they have blue gems embedded in each feather!"

"And if we break those, it weakens the machine!" Lilac realized, her eyes lighting up as she witnessed the effect. She flashed Tails a grin. "Nice going, Tails!"

Dail's smirk faded as he looked down at his foes, fury flashing in his eyes. "Bah! So what if you've found a weakness? You fools will fall and then justice will prevail!" With a wave of his hand, he conjured a fierce whirlwind that spiraled toward them, sand whipping through the air in a blinding rush.

"I've had enough of justice speeches for a while," Torque grumbled, sidestepping the whirlwind as it tore past him. He steadied his aim, raising his blaster and firing a cyan laser that zigzagged through the air, striking two of the nine gems on the Kujacker's tail. The mechanical beast shrieked in outrage, its control wavering as the damaged gems began to glow and crackle.

The trio exchanged determined glances, their focus now fixed on the remaining gems, each of them prepared to take down the Kujacker one feather at a time.

"Don't think it'll be easy!" Dail shouted from atop the Kujacker, his voice a twisted blend of rage and desperation. He commanded the mechanical bird to unleash a flurry of vicious pecks, each one precise and deadly. The group dodged, ducking and weaving as they evaded the sharp metallic beak that struck dangerously close.

Focusing their attacks, Lilac, Tails, and Torque kept their aim on the tail feathers, determined to shatter the remaining gems. Lilac charged up a powerful Cyclone, spinning with a blur as she collided with the Kujacker's tail, shattering two more gems in one sweeping blow. Tails followed up with two rapid spin dashes that cracked yet another gem, while Torque took a careful aim and fired his blaster, obliterating another. With only one gem left intact, Dail's furious gaze bore down on them, his grip on control slipping.

"I will not fall to you pathetic worms!" Dail's voice was strained, tinged with desperation. The Kujacker's movements grew more erratic, swinging its wings and flinging electro balls wildly in all directions. The trio took a few glancing hits, stumbling as they regained their footing on the hot sand.

"Wow, he's really pulling out all the stops," Tails muttered, rubbing a sore arm. "He must be running out of material—he's using every villain cliché in the book."

"There's a villain book?" Torque asked, momentarily perplexed.

"Figure of speech, Torque!" Lilac called, shaking her head with a grin. She had to remind herself that Earth culture was still foreign to him.

But Tails took it further with a mischievous smile. "Actually… yes. 'Evil Speeches 1991.' Written, edited, and published by none other than Ivo Robotnik himself."

"Wait, really?" Lilac's eyes widened in surprise, momentarily more invested in the conversation than in the battle.

"Yup! But it didn't sell very well." Tails grinned, giving Lilac a sideways glance.

Lilac chuckled, her spirits lifted. "Now I kind of want to read it." With renewed energy, she launched a Dragon Boost, her body blazing with energy as she smashed straight into the final tail feather, obliterating the last gem with a resounding crack.

"No!" Dail's scream tore through the air, his voice cracking with despair. "I will not be defeated! The Master Emerald will be mine!" His words dripped with anguish, a desperation fueled by the twisted programming Brevon had implanted in his mind.

Tails couldn't resist a final quip. "Yep, Chapter 80: 'What to Say When Your Enemies Have the Upper Hand.'"

Dail clutched his head, his face twisted in pain as his eyes flickered between red and his natural brown. "No… no, I'm so close… I need to avenge…!" His voice wavered as he struggled against the conflicting emotions swirling inside him, his expression shifting from fury to confusion and back again.

Sensing an opportunity, Lilac took a tentative step forward, her voice soft but resolute. "Prince Dail, please. We know about Robotnik and Brevon. They're the ones responsible for your father's death!"

Dail recoiled, the red in his eyes dimming briefly as he clutched his head, his face contorted in agony. "No… they're our saviors… my kingdom…"

"Your kingdom will be destroyed if you let Brevon take control!" Torque's voice rang out with urgency. "Prince Dail, you have to fight their influence! You're being controlled—they're using you!"

For a brief moment, Dail's eyes flickered back to brown, confusion and pain filling his gaze. "I… help…" His voice was strained, a faint plea breaking through Brevon's hold. But just as quickly, the red returned, darker and more intense than before, consuming his last shred of resistance.

"Lord Brevon will bring glory to Shuigang! All others will fall under his rule! Perish you vermins!" With a furious cry, Dail commanded the Kujacker to slam down with all its weight, the massive impact splitting the ground beneath them, creating a chasm that started to swallow the prince and his Kujacker into the darkness below.

"Everyone, grab my hand!" Tails shouted, reaching out as the ground beneath them began to crumble. Lilac and Torque latched onto him as he spun his tails, lifting them both away from the collapsing sand. They hovered just above the edge, watching helplessly as Dail's anguished screams echoed from the depths, his figure disappearing into the shadows.

"Oh no!" Lilac gasped, eyes wide with horror. She knew it wasn't Dail's fault that he was brainwashed, and now he was being consumed by the sands below. "We have to save him!"

"It's too late," Torque said softly, shaking his head. His expression was solemn, regretful. "Brevon's influence has twisted his mind beyond recognition, I…I don't know if there is any hope."

Tails grunted, his voice strained as he continued lifting them away from the collapsing edge. "I-I'm almost out of the hole, but—"

Lilac looked down, her expression hardening with determination. "Guys, I'm going after him," she declared, surprising both of her friends. "There might still be a chance to break the brainwashing. We just have to keep trying—and Carol might be down there too!"

"If you're going, we're going too," Tails said firmly, his grip unwavering as he met her gaze.

"We can't afford to split up," Torque agreed. "Let's help the prince, rescue Carol, and then find the Master Emerald!"

With a final shared nod, the trio released Tails' hold and descended into the shadowy depths of the chasm. Determined to save the prince and find Carol, they plunged into the darkness together, ready to face whatever awaited them below.

As they descended, Lilac's heart raced, her mind filled with worry. "Hope she's not having any problems down there," she thought, praying that Carol was safe amidst the ancient, treacherous tunnels of Sandopolis.

Underground Tunnels

"Uaaaaah!" Carol's scream echoed through the winding tunnels as she sprinted with every ounce of energy she had left, the massive boulder thundering behind her with relentless speed.

Her eyes darted frantically as she dodged trap after trap, narrowly avoiding deadly spike walls that sprang up from nowhere, arrows whizzing past her ears, bursts of flame shooting across her path, and crushing stones that nearly caught her heels. She'd thought herself a thrill-seeker, but this was just too much!

"OH, COME ON!" she yelled in frustration, her voice cracking as she stumbled forward. Just when she thought she couldn't take another step, a glimmer of hope appeared up ahead—a small hole in the ground with light streaming through it.

Hope! Carol pushed through the last reserves of her energy, her legs burning as she bolted toward the opening. She could hear the boulder gaining on her as she reached the hole. With a desperate leap, she threw herself forward and down into the opening, narrowly escaping the crushing boulder as it thundered past.

But as she fell, she realized too late that the ground was much farther down than she had anticipated. "Nyaaah!" Carol yelped as she plummeted, landing hard on a crystalline floor below. The impact knocked the wind out of her, leaving her sprawled on the cool, shimmering surface.

"…"

"…"

"Ow…" she murmured, barely able to lift her head. She lay there, exhausted and hurting, catching her breath. Her vision blurred as she blinked, her mind overwhelmed by the relentless traps and the near-misses that had led her here.

She'd wanted adventure, an exciting journey with her best friend, with her new friends. But now…

"I… want to go home…" she whispered, her voice soft as tears pricked at her eyes. For a moment, she let herself feel the ache in her heart, the longing for a place where danger wasn't waiting around every corner.

After a few more moments, Carol forced herself to sit up, pushing those thoughts down. She'd made it this far, and her friends were still somewhere on this island, maybe even closer than she knew. She wiped her eyes, took a steadying breath, and rose to her feet, determined to keep moving.

As she took in her surroundings, her awe returned. The cavern around her was beautiful, with walls covered in shimmering crystalline formations that reflected a gentle, almost mystical glow. But what truly caught her attention was a massive mural painted on the cavern wall.

The mural depicted two figures locked in battle: a slender, blue figure surrounded by bright yellow energy and a towering blue creature with a fierce mustache. She studied it for a moment, an odd sense of familiarity tugging at her thoughts. The blue figure… it reminded her a lot of Sonic, and the other—a big, intimidating figure with a distinctive mustache—looked eerily similar to Eggman. But… maybe it was just a coincidence?

"Whoever said cats always land on their feet was clearly lying," Carol muttered to herself, managing a small, humorless chuckle as she attempted to lighten her spirits. "I want a refund… multiple refunds." She shook her head and tried to laugh at her own joke, feeling her resolve steadying once more.

Her gaze drifted toward a bright green light deeper within the cavern, glowing with an intensity that drew her like a magnet. Curiosity overcame her exhaustion as she began to make her way toward the light, each step cautious, her heart pounding with a mixture of anticipation and nerves.

As she approached, the green light grew brighter, illuminating the cavern with an eerie, yet breathtaking glow. Her eyes widened in awe as she neared the source of the light, the intense green glow reflecting in her gaze.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group navigated the winding, shadowed tunnels beneath Sandopolis. They moved quickly, each step echoing through the passage. Tails held up his radar, the soft green light illuminating the dim path ahead.

"These tunnels aren't part of Sandopolis," Tails murmured, his voice barely audible in the eerie silence. "You don't think Carol was here, do you?"

Torque glanced around, his eyes narrowing as he examined the fresh signs of disturbance along the tunnel—scattered rocks, jagged cracks, and a few freshly broken stalactites and what to seem like traps lay scattered across the floor. "It's possible," he said. He exchanged a look with Gyro, who hovered beside him, their mutual concern evident.

"Definitely," Lilac replied, her voice tense as she inspected a large hole in the wall. She grimaced. "There's been a lot of activity down here… but no sign of the prince. How he managed to get that robot down here in the first place is beyond me…"

Tails paused, a thoughtful look crossing his face as he studied the tunnel more closely. These passageways were winding and lengthy, stretching far beyond what he had expected, and something about their layout was nagging at him. Then, with a sudden flash of realization, he looked up, his eyes bright with excitement. "No way, guys! I think we've found Knuckles shortcut routes!"

"Shortcut routes?" Lilac, Torque and Gyro echoed, both looking puzzled.

Tails nodded enthusiastically, his expression lighting up. "Yeah! These tunnels… they must connect to all the major locations on the island. That's how Knuckles always managed to stay one step ahead of us during our first adventure here. He used these secret routes to get around quickly!" He felt a surge of excitement; it finally made sense—Knuckles' ability to appear far ahead of them back then was because of these hidden pathways!

"So… you're saying we could reach anywhere on the island without being spotted by the airships?" Lilac said, her mind racing. What had initially seemed like a setback had turned into an unexpected advantage, offering them a way to navigate the island without drawing unwanted attention.

"But…" Torque interjected, his brow furrowing. "If these tunnels connect to everywhere on the island, that means they might lead to the Emerald Shrine too."

Tails's face fell slightly as he absorbed Torque's words, the urgency in his voice suddenly sharpened. "And it just so happens that the prince is somewhere in these tunnels!" His eyes widened. If he reached the Hidden Palace before them…

"What are we waiting for, then?" Lilac's voice was fierce, determination blazing in her eyes. "We have to stop him before it's too late! Quick—Carol must be heading in the same direction!" With a burst of energy, she launched herself forward, Dragon Boosting down the tunnel with speed and precision, her friends sprinting close behind.

Hidden Palace

"This… is this…?" Carol stood in stunned silence, her mouth agape, as she took in the sight before her.

Towering in front of her, radiating an intense, otherworldly glow, was none other than the Master Emerald. Its vibrant green light filled the entire cavern, illuminating every crevice with a serene yet powerful energy. The gem was massive, easily towering over her, its surface gleaming with a soft, steady glow that seemed to pulse like a heartbeat. The air around it was charged, humming with an energy that sent a chill down Carol's spine, making her feel both insignificant and awe-inspired.

Unlike the strange, almost alien power of the Chaos Emeralds, the Master Emerald's light felt… different. It was earthly, grounding. It was as if this emerald had always belonged here, in this planet.

The Master Emerald rested atop a carved stone pedestal, as though paying homage to the ancient jewel. Carol couldn't tear her gaze away, utterly mesmerized by the emerald's beauty and the immense power it exuded. She took a hesitant step forward, her hand slowly reaching out, drawn to the ethereal light.

But as she moved closer, something shifted in the air behind her. A shadow lunged toward her from the depths of the cavern. Carol's instincts kicked in, and she jerked back just in time, but not before feeling a sharp sting on her ear as a quick strike grazed her.

"Au!" she yelped, stumbling as she clutched her ear. It throbbed painfully, and her fingers felt a tear along its edge, her ear nicked but not badly damaged. She quickly rolled to the side, heart racing as she looked up at her attacker.

Standing between her and the Master Emerald was a red figure, tall and muscular, with piercing amethyst eyes that blazed with suspicion. Crimson fur, a white crescent-shaped patch on his chest, red and yellow shoes with green cuffs, and gloves fitted with two large, sharp spikes. Carol's breath caught as she recognized him from the murals she'd seen on the walls it was an echidna—Knuckles the Echidna, the guardian of the Master Emerald.

"So, they've stopped sending robots and started sending thieves, huh?" Knuckles growled, his tone filled with hostility as he cracked his knuckles. "Well, it doesn't matter if you're metal or flesh. You're going down either way!" He dropped into a battle stance, muscles tensed and ready, his gaze fixed intently on her.

"W-wait!" Carol stammered, throwing up her hands in a placating gesture. She quickly tried to steady her voice, realizing that to him, she was nothing more than a trespasser. "I'm not here to steal anything! I'm with Sonic and Tails!"

Knuckles hesitated, his eyes narrowing as he mulled over her words. But his expression quickly turned to a sneer. "Hah! Like I'd believe that! If you're with them, then where are they? Because I don't see them anywhere!" He moved forward, muscles rippling, his eyes dark with mistrust as he prepared to strike.

Carol took a deep breath, struggling to find the right words. "Well, Sonic isn't here right now, but Tails—whoa!" She barely had time to finish before Knuckles swung his fist toward her, the punch whistling past her as she dodged. His fist collided with the ground, sending a shockwave through the cavern that nearly knocked her off her feet.

"I've heard enough!" Knuckles roared, his voice filled with fierce resolve. "You're here to steal my emerald for those ships on the surface, working for Robotnik, aren't you? I am not so easily to trick and I won't let you have it!" His stance was firm, unwavering even though he looked worn out from defending the island. "I'm going to make green paste out of you, cat!"

Carol opened her mouth to protest, but the intensity in his gaze made her pause, realizing that trying to reason with him would likely be futile. She sighed, bracing herself as she shifted into a defensive stance. "Why does everything have to be so difficult…?" she muttered, mentally preparing for the fight.

Knuckles and Carol locked eyes, the tension thick in the air as they sized each other up, both unwilling to back down. Behind him, the Master Emerald glowed brightly, casting long shadows that seemed to add to his imposing presence. In a simultaneous burst of energy, they charged at each other, Carol aiming a swift kick as Knuckles readied a powerful punch. The clash of their blows echoed through the cavern, marking the start of a fierce battle that would reverberate through the ancient walls of the Hidden Palace.

Sandopolis, Noon Hours

Above the vast sands of Sandopolis, silence reigned, broken only by the faint sound of distant winds. Then, out of the desert's stillness, a new sound emerged—a steady, mechanical hum growing louder as it neared the deep crater left behind from the battle. A sleek, metallic figure descended, her pink optics glowing with purpose.

Metal Lilac's metal boots landed with a faint clink against the hot sands, her gaze fixed intently on the massive hole carved into the earth below. She took a step forward, her sensors analyzing the descent. Her scanner indicated something intriguing down there—an instinct she couldn't quite explain but that resonated deeply within her programming, urging her to follow it. Might as well

With a final glance at the desert around her, Metal Lilac revved her engine, her anticipation spiking as her optics blazed with pink light. She launched herself straight down, vanishing into the depths of the cavern below, her engines illuminating the darkness in a brilliant pink glow.
