That Void person was quite a character for Lori and Lincoln to meet when facing off those private soldiers. Both heroes wanted to learn more about this Welsh boy, and how he got his dark powers in the first place. After all, it was always the dark and gloomy-looking ones that are the most intriguing kind of people that people would want to know more about, especially people like Lucy; given her love for dark and sinister-looking things. In fact, Lucy might have some interest in this kind of guy after all with how black and shady he looks as a superhero
Luckily, today, there was no major crime to he stopped by Lori and Lincoln. The police would handle any robberies or gang raids, or bank robberies, or similar crimes.
Suddenly, after Lori was done training, her phone went off. Answering the phone, Lori said: "Oh hi, Becky. What's up?" She smiled and her face slowly turned to a frown as her friend talked on to her, "What?!" She exclaimed in shock. "How many of them are... ok, ok, yeah, i'll literally get Volcano Girl and Laser Boy right now. They'll be there soon. Bye." Hanging up her cellphone, she called out: "Lincoln! Can you come out here, please?"
Coming out of Lisa's bunker, Lincoln said: "what's going on, Lori? Trouble?"
"Yes. What's going on, Lori?"
"The retirement home is under attack by a small group of muggers, all after the elderlies' credit cards and retirement money!"
"What?" Lincoln exclaimed in shock. "Pop Pop and Myrtle! They're in trouble! We gotta help them! Oh... wait, Mr. Grouse." The boy realized as he looked at his usually grumpy neighbor's yard. "You know how nosy he can be." He whispered in Lori's ear
"Ooh right." Lori realized. "He can literally stick his bose in our businesses like he's spying on us." The teen girl narrowed her eyes at the neighbor's house in a suspicious stare. "So come on, we gotta save the retirement home."
"Right. Think this Void guy will come helping us again?"
"Honestly Lincoln, i don't know. But either way, those elderlies need our help. Now come on."
The two siblings hurried to the retirement home with Lori carrying her little brother in the sky. At first, Lincoln was a little nervous in this position, and he tried not to look down. "Think you can carry me, Volcano Girl?"
"don't worry Laser Boy. I got you. Just hang on and try not to move around so much, then you'll be fine. The retirement home's not too far from here.
When they made it, Lori carefully put her brother down on the grass, and there was a large white van, which was probably the burglars' own vehicle. The bad part was: no police cars or officers were anywhere to be seen, so these two heroes are on their own for now.
Hiding behind some bushes, the two siblings saw a nasty-looking thug with a bandana over his face with a shotgun in hands, guarding the front doors. "Ok, let's just go over there and attack him." said Lincoln."
"Wait, he has a shotgun and it can be loud enough to alert his buddies." Lori pointed
"What can we do?"
The teenage girl finally got an idea and picked up a rock near her. When the brute wasn't look at her direction, Lori threw it into a line of bushes many yards from her to make a loud shattering sound, possibly from hitting another rock, making the thug run over to where it landed
"Who's there?" He shouted. "Is someone there? Come on out!" This gave Lori the perfect opportunity to quietly approach the brute from behind and knock him out by using one of her uands to chop him behind his neck, rendering him unconscious.
As soon as he was down, Lori picked him up by the arms and carried him to the other side of the bush where the rock had landed so that his own friends wouldn't be able to find him. Now it was clear for Lori and Lincoln to quietly get inside the retirement home and put a stop to this robbery.
The inside of the entrance looked empty and there came a gruff voice. "Alright you crones and geezers!" It shouted. "Give me all of your credit cards, debit cards, and all your retirement funds before you all turn info skeletons!"
It was coming from the dinng room, and both heroes rushed to see what was going on. Two armed thugs wearing grey clothes and magnum revolvers in their hands. All of the elderly residents, including Albert, Myrtle, and the whole staff of the building were all sitting against the back wall of the ransacked room.
Quietly, Lincoln and Lori were shocked to see the people backed up at gunpoint. "You don't scare me!" Scoots barked. "I may be inclined to this cruddy scooter, but i can still take you on with my bare hands!" She hopped out of her scooter and felt a sharp pain in her back as she was standing, then hurried back on her signature scooter. "My aching back."
The two robbers laughed at her misfortune. "Not as young as you used to be, eh crone?" Said the second robber. "We all know that me and Time are the ones holding the guns and not all of you."
"Right." said Tim, "just five up your cards ajd retirement funds and we'll let you all get back to the remainder of your pathetic lives. And i suggest you do it now! I grow tired of repeating things."
The elderlies looked over and saw the two superheroes, and their spirits are getting back ok track seeing how they are all going to he saved soon enough. Albert was about to shout with joy but realized that he will give these superheroes away, so he kept quiet.
Suddenly, Lincoln accidentally stubbed his tie against one of the table legs, making him hop and yell in pain, unintentionally revealing him and her sister to the bad guys.
"Well, if it isn't the superhero duo." Said the leader of the evil trio with a sneer on his face. "Just walk away now and none of the elderlies will get a bullet ij their heads."
"Leave them alone and let them go now!" Lori ordered like an angry mother scolding her children for bad behavior or being cheeky
"And if we don't?" Said Tim with a taunting look on his face. Lori used her fire powers from her left hand to melt Tim's handgun and her right hand to melt his lackey's firearm too.
"Aw man, my mom bought me that gun for Christmas!" said the second thug.
"Oh shut up, John." Tim said in annoyance. "We can still take them all with our bare hands." Before a big fight can ensure, a large bolt of black darkness came from the entrance of the building, the same one that came when Lori and Lincoln were about to be outgunned by the private security force from yesterday. The black ball quickly turned into the same person that helped Lincoln and Lori before.
"Who the heck are you?" Said Tim, sounding a little frightened to see Void.
"just your worst nightmare." The dark-themed superhero replied. He used his left hand to create some black energy, which made a black portal to sent the two bad guys into the darkness below. "There we go. More bad guys locked away in the stony lonesome."
The elderlies all cheered and clapped at how these three heroes saved them all and their retirement money from those evil brutes and they all gathered around to congratulate them one by one. "Pardon me, Volcano Girl and Laser Boy, but can me and Myrtle have a little word with you in our bedroom?" said Albert.
"Umm... sure, whatever you say, citizen." Lori sounded a little nervous, but she and Lincoln followed their grandparents into their bedroom upstairs. When Myrtle closed the door, Lori said: "So, citizen, what can we do you for? Is there trouble we can help you with?"
"Oh come on, Lori." said Albert with a smirk. "You and your gran-gran both know it's you and Lincoln."
"And there's no need to lie." said Myrtle
"How did you know it was us?"
"Because of your voices, of course." said Albert with a chuckle before Lori's long hair. "Lincoln's white hair, it's a dead giveaway."
"Riiiight." Both siblings looked embarrassed
"And Leni gave you guys away." Siad Myrtle.
Lori facepalmed herself. "Dang it, Leni!" She said to the ceiling. "This is why we don't usually tell her about surprise parties."
"Look, why didn't you yell hs before that you are superheroes now?" Said Albert
"It's a superhero thing, guys." Said Lincoln. "We did it for your own safety. If everyone knew we were superheroes, except for a select few, then it would put our close ones in danger from the bad guys and they would use you against us."
"We understand." Said Myrtle. "But we won't tell anyone about your secret identity, we promise."
Lori smiled before replying: "we know you won't."
"And your gran-gran was a spy, after all." Albert reminded his grandkids.
"Right." Siad Lincoln. "You need to litetrally promise that you won't tell anyone about our secret identities, ok? You can't trust everybody."
"Of course. We promise, kiddos."
"Thanks Pop Pop." Lincoln and Lori said in unison.
"No, thank you for helping us against those rapscallions." Albert smiled. As both heroes got out the door, they were greeted by Void, who startled them like an actual ghost.
"Sorry, didn't mean to frighten ye." Said Void.
"Thanks for the help... again." Lincoln replied.
"Don't mention it." Sisd Void.
"Can we talk to you? And... what about the guy i literally knocked unconscious?"
"Took care of im too." Void smiled. "Did it before i cake in the building. Now they are all in prison and won't be able to cause any more trouble to the general public."
"Look, why don't we go to your place so we can talk in private?" Said Lincoln
"That's fine. We're all superheroes and i think we can trust each other." Said Void. "Get to know each other more."
"Sure, sounds good." Lori smiled.
Void's place was unexpected, for it was an old-fashioned house and had a yellow paint to the walls, and when there was no one in the house Void took off his mask to reveal his handsome face to the teo heroes in front of him.
"Welcome to chateau Void." He said as he opened the door. Something ran up to greet the two heroes and it was a large, hairy Bernese mountain dog with his tongue out and put his paws on Lori's tummy as his tail was wagging, and let off a few low barks. "Hey hey hey! Farley, down! Down boy!" He had to force his down back on the ground. "Sorry about Farley, he gets really excited and protective when visitors come to me house."
"Don't worry. We've seen crazier things before." Said Lori. "Besides, he literally looks so adorable."
"So have a seat."
"Farkle, what's going?" Said a female voice. A middle-aged woman and her husband came into the living room. "Oh, goodness, Volcano Girl and Laser Boy. It's... quite an honor."
"Yeah, we... didn't think you would come visit here." Said the father, "wait... Farkle, you're mask is off."
"It's ok, dad. I'm a superhero and they are superheroes, the world can always use more to back it up."
"Oh. Ok." Said the mother. "Make yourselves at home you too. Biscuits are just about ready."
As the heroes sat on the couch, Farley the dog sat in -between Lori and Lincoln, clearly being a space invader.
"Farley, get down!" Said Void's father. "Sorry, about Farley, he's a lovable lug."
"Literally no problem." said Lori. "my own family can be a little crazy. Besides, Bernese mountain dogs are literally so adorable." she patted the pooch's head a few times to show affection back to the big canine. Farley immediately took a liking to the two heroes and rested his broad head on Lincoln's right leg.
"So... Farkle, right?" asked Lincoln
"I don't really like to be called that, but yes." said he with a sigh.
"Well, we should form an alliance together to be heroes and save the world from certain destruction when necessary."
Smiling, Void said: "Of course. It's always good when there are more superheroes in the world to help those in need, eh? And... i'll do my best to not fail."
"Look, Farkle," said his mother, "It's not your fault about what happened back home."
"But i could have put a stop to it, even when i got me powers before the... incident."
"It caught everyone by surprise, sweetie."
"Ye, there's no need to beat yourself down." said his father. "It's all in the past and what is in the past is already over."
Void was silent and finally said: "I promise to get Gladys if it's the last thing I do."
"No, don't think about revenge. We may not know about superheroes so much," said his mother, "but we me and your da know that revenge isn't really what superheroes do in their line of work. Only to help others."
"Look, we're getting a little off-track." said Lori. "Can you tell us how you got your powers, Void?"
"Sure. My apologies." said Void. "It's a really fascinating tale."
