Wondertainment: "Peak fiction

Also yeah, mob psycho is awesome, much like this fix"

Thank you for the compliment! I love Mob Psycho as well, but not enough to make a fic out of it. I already kinda suck at the character stuff here, so I feel like I'd just butcher such a character-driven story like MP with my style.

"Hup." Itadori watched in thinly veiled intrigue as Adam flipped the pancakes in his pan. Kugisaki sat by his side, staring intently at the knife and fork the white-haired boy had given them minutes prior. "Alright, 3 should be enough for each of you, right?" With a spatula in hand, he flicked the pancake into the air and caught it on a plate, evenly aligning it with the other 5 already there.

"Sure!" Yuji chirped happily. "Those look so good…" He glanced to his side, seeing Kugisaki wipe off a small line of drool that had spilt from her mouth. "Kugisaki, are you sure you'll eat all of yours? Because if not, then I'll–"

"Oh, you're making these again." Itadori's sentence was cut off by Fushigoro's sudden appearance. The black-haired boy was ignored however, Yuji's attention instead drifted towards the white and black dogs trailing behind him.

"You better not chuck your sheets in with mine again," Adam warned sternly. "The fur was a pain in the ass to get out last time." Behind Itadori's back, he laid out 3 pancakes onto each prepared plate and handed over a bowl of berries. Itadori rolled out of his seat and onto the floor, shuffling closer towards the dogs; Fushigoro stepped over his body and took over his now unoccupied chair. "I made baked fish and natto for us since you aren't a fan of these." He placed down another plate and twirled around, stalking to the other side of the kitchen; Itadori continued to crawl towards Fushigoro's divine dogs.

"Holy shit these are good!" Adam ignored Kugisaki's exclamations while opening the fridge, accidentally slamming the door into Itadori's head. From there, it was a whirlwind of motion.

Itadori leapt to his feet in an instant, scaring Fushigoro's dogs and causing them to run towards their master. The quick motion from the boy caused Adam to flinch back in surprise, a horrible decision. With his hand still hooked around the handle, Adam tilted backwards, pulling the fridge forward slightly. "Watch out!" Fushigoro's words were in vain, for the appliance had already begun to topple onto Itadori's torso.

"Oh fuck!" Adam leapt backwards as Itadori screamed. The fridge fell straight onto the boy's unprepared body, pinning him to the ground with packaged goods scattered around. Several moments passed between the group in silence before Adam began to sputter out a few shocked laughs.

"G-Get me out from under here!" With his arms pinned to his sides, Itadori was unable to reach for the sides of the machine to push it off of him. Instead of helping, Kugisaki snatched up his pancakes and shoved them into her mouth; Fushigoro watched the scene with a slack jaw, his appetite long forgotten with the insanity placed before him. Adam continued to laugh loudly as Itadori flailed his arms randomly in an attempt to get a grip on the machine.

Eventually, the commotion ended with Gojo arriving; at least that's what Fushigoro had hoped for. Turns out, the man had heard what was happening after Adam sent him a photo and just had to come and laugh. At that point, Itadori had been pinned for over ten minutes. Once the teacher had gotten his fill of enjoyment out of it, he lifted the appliance with a single palm; Itadori quickly scurried away while Adam began to put the unopened containers back in the fridge. Sadly, their prepared breakfast was not one of the unopened containers.

"Blindfold, mind if we head out to grab some breakfast?" Adam held up the empty tupperware as proof; forgoing the action of cleaning up the mess on the floor.

Gojo shrugged, barely glancing down before adding a finger to the spot where his eyes lay. "As long as you clean up this stuff before you go." He turned to the counter, where Kugisaki was covering her stomach with a satisfied smile on her face; next to her was a distraught Itadori. "You can take Itadori and Megumi with you; Kugisaki is coming to class with me." The girl groaned in response.

"Why do they get to go?" She whined. "I'm not even in my uniform yet either." Gojo tutted while waving his finger.

"They haven't eaten yet; you did." With a smirk, he thrust a thumb behind him. "Now I wanna do these tests quickly; maybe we can join them if they're out for long enough."

"Huh? Tests?!" Kugisaki leaned so far back in her chair that she almost fell to the ground, thankfully stopping just before that event could occur. "On the first day?!"

"Placement ones." Gojo chirped in reply. "Now get going, I'm sure you want to get these over with as quickly as possible." Kugisaki groaned once again, but eventually slid out of her chair and walked into the hall. "Now for you three…" He reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. "Grab me a strawberry Calpis while you're out there?" He passed over a single note to Megumi, who looked at it with narrowed eyes.

"Why? Don't you have a ton of them in your fridge?" Gojo waved him off with a smirk, shaking the bill slightly in front of Megumi's face. The boy rolled his eyes before snatching it. "If they don't have strawberry, I'm getting you lychee."

"Fine by me." Gojo slapped his student over his back. "Now you three get running along; be back by 1 at the latest." Considering it was just past 7, all 3 boys considered that a fair trade-off. "Make sure to keep your phones on." With that final warning, Gojo left the room with a clap of his hands. Just as he did, however, Kugisaki reappeared in her uniform.

"Where the hell did he go?!" The 3 boys shrugged, causing the girl to once again groan in annoyance before she sped out of the dorm room. Adam watched her leave with a small smile, one that held strong as he turned towards his male classmates.

"I think we should get going, we don't want to get caught in the huge breakfast rush." The boys nodded silently before heading their separate ways; Itadori and Fushigoro headed to their rooms to get into their uniforms while Adam cleaned up the mess in the kitchen.

"Uh, so does this usually happen when you leave campus?" Before Adam could respond to Itadori's question, a loud screech echoed through the area. Purple lightning crackled across the pavement they were standing on as Nue exploded in a shower of sparks, the spray mostly aimed towards the curse they had been sent to exorcise.

"Sadly." Adam sighed disappointedly, not taking his eyes off of the curse as its skin began to char. "Hey, Fushigoro!" The boy turned to them with a blank gaze. "Shouldn't we have let Itadori take care of it?" Fushigoro blinked at the boy tiredly before pointing a finger at their shared classmate.

"He can't manipulate his cursed energy properly yet, and he left Slaughter Demon with Gojo." The boy said, his hands flicking up into a hand sign as Nue was dispelled and replaced with Orochi; the snake quickly took to eating up its new meal, much to Adam's chagrin.

"Didn't we agree on letting my boys eat 'em?" He asked, pointing an accusatory hand at the boy. The curses in his hair jumped down to his shoulder and mimicked the gesture, babbling on in their shrill nonsense talk as they did so.

Fushigoro tapped his snake shikigami on the underside of its belly. "Leave the head for the others." Orochi, who was already half finished with swallowing the curse's body, quickly chomped down; the action allowed the head and shoulders of the creature to hit the ground with a loud thump. "Good." The black-haired boy seemed completely ignorant to the disgusted look on Itadori's face as Adam's curses skittered across the ground towards their meal.

"So, Itadori, do you have anything you want to do around the city?" Adam asked. The boy finally tore his eyes away from the slowly dissolving curse to look at his classmate, his face twisting immediately into excitement as he practically began to vibrate in place.

"For sure! I want to go see the sky tree, the temples; all the cool stuff that's around here!" The barrier that Adam had put up shattered, finally allowing the late morning sun to shine over the alley they were in. "Now I don't know about you guys, but all that fighting gave me back an appetite!"

"What fighting? All we did was watch." Adam laughed, punching the boy lightly in the shoulder. He tilted his head towards Fushigoro, who had just fallen in step with them. "What do you say? There's around 3 hours before our time is up and we have to be back at the school."

"If you're talking about a second breakfast, I think I'll pass. Outside of that though, I just need to pick up Gojo's drink." The boy scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "But I'll follow along if you guys are going." Yuji's wide grin almost made the boy blind.

"Thanks, Fushigoro!" He charged out of the alley with the same stupid grin he usually held, Adam and Fushigoro trailing slowly behind him.

"How the hell are we supposed to catch up when he's running like that?" Fushigoro growled, his eyes following the ever-shrinking blip that was Itadori's figure as he ran down the street.

"I think he forgets we aren't all muscle gorillas like him," Adam commented out loud. The boys quickly began their walk to catch their classmate, but almost immediately stopped when Adam grabbed the back of Fushigoro's sleeve. "Wait, look at this." Fushigoro retraced his steps for a few moments, craning his head towards where his friend was looking when he fell in line with him.

"A summer festival? What about it?" There were plenty that went on around Tokyo around that time of year, so the poster being up on a telephone pole was nothing special; the knowledge of Adam's previously sheltered lifestyle eluded his mind until the boy reminded him.

"What are they?" He asked, barely managing to hide his intrigue behind a layer of neutrality. "The only festivals I know about are the ones in the history books Blindfold assigned." In his opinion, one he was eager to share whenever possible, the assignment was completely useless to his future.

"I mean, that's basically what they are," Fushigoro replied with a shrug. "It's just a big parade with floats and stuff to pay homage to the local deities." Having grown up around them, he didn't see any point in attending; in his opinion, he sent more than enough prayers during New Year's. Adam tore the poster off the pole with a swift hand, much to Fushigoro's annoyance. "Don't do that; it's disrespectful to the organizers who put them there."

Adam rolled his eyes before pulling up his phone and searching for something. "You said floats, right?" Fushigoro nodded. "How would people be able to see them if it's at night? I mean, I guess there could be lights, but wouldn't that strain people's eyes?" To stop his questions, Fushigoro took the poster from his hands and scanned it with a keen eye.

"Oh, it's not a float type; it says at the bottom the usual one is being held next week due to an administrative issue. This is just a placeholder to not break routine." His head instinctively tilted to the side as a new presence appeared behind him.

"Are we going to that?" Fushigoro smiled smugly as Adam jumped in surprise at Itadori's sudden appearance. "What!? Where's the floats, the banners!?" The black-haired boy gestured to the bottom of the poster, Itadori reading it with a disappointed frown. "Aww, I wanted to watch the parade." He scanned the full page for the first time. "This isn't even going to be one of the fun ones with the fireworks…I guess scooping some goldfish won't be so bad."

"Scooping goldfish?" Adam parroted questioningly.

"You don't know about that? I thought it was super popular; unless that's just with kids…am I weird?" Fushigoro's palm met his forehead with a quiet slap as his classmate's constant questions rang through the air. The black-haired boy raised a finger, directing it at Adam.

"Foreigner, remember? He doesn't know much of anything about traditions and stuff." Adam laughed at Itadori's shocked face. "He said it at dinner last night."

"Considering how he hasn't called me anything besides dude, or man, it makes sense he'd forget," Adam commented with a laugh. "So can we get back to this whole scooping goldfish thing?"

"It's exactly how it sounds, you get a scoop, and there's a little pond full of goldfish. You pay, get a scoop, and try not to break it. Mostly child–"

"Excuse you!" Itadori squawked. "It's a game for all ages, from your most decrepit grandpas to your least developed fetuses."

"Ignoring the morbid and frankly disgusting imagery; would you mind elaborating?" Adam interrupted. Yuji brightened immediately, pushing Fushigoro back slightly before reaching into his pocket.

"Here, you're the shopkeeper." The boy said cheerfully. Fushigoro groaned in annoyance and opened his mouth to interrupt, but Itadori had already pulled out an invisible wad of cash. "3 games please!" Adam watched with no small amount of amusement as Fushigoro gained an evil glint in his eyes.

"Sorry kid, but this game is only for 12 and under." He said in a bland voice. Itadori dramatically dropped to his knees, raising the 'money' to the sky as he wept.

"God! Why have you forsaken me like this?!" He cried, completely ignorant of the odd stares he was getting from the few civilians in the area. Eventually, the boy got back onto his feet, his eyes wiping away fake tears as he turned to his white-haired classmate. "So, do you get it?"

Adam stared at the boy blankly for a few moments, red eyes meeting brown ones. Several moments passed, neither of them flinching in their expressions before Adam began to sputter with laughter. The few sputters he couldn't hold in gave way to full-blown laughter as Adam buckled over.

"Come on, it wasn't that funny," Fushigoro said, the small smile on his face betraying his attempt at harsh words. While Adam continued to laugh, he reached into his pocket and retrieved his phone. "We need to get going; if you want an early lunch, or brunch, or second breakfast, or whatever, we're going to need to go now." He held out the phone for Itadori to see. "It's nearing 11:00."

Adam coughed out a final few laughs before standing back up. "We-we were messing around here for over 40 minutes?" Fushigoro nodded, and the boy immediately snapped to attention in response. "Alright, game plan." He grabbed his phone and the poster from Fushigoro's hand. "We're going to this on Sunday, no ifs or buts." He said seriously. "We will bring Kugisaki and Blindfold along, and you can show me how to pick out goldfish." The 'you' was directed straight at Itadori, who almost began to glow like a Christmas tree from the excitement sitting below his skin. "For today though, we're heading to a fast food joint around the corner for food before we head to a Lawsons for Blindfold's drink. Got it?" Yuji nodded enthusiastically, while Fushigoro rolled his eyes.

"So, Adam, what was it like in England?" Itadori asked in between bites. The group had chosen a table in the far corner of the store, both Adam and Fushigoro taking the furthest seat away from the boy who had been snatching their fries.

"Quiet…" Adam replied cryptically. "I'm probably not the best person to ask though, since I was pretty sheltered." The boy took a bite of his burger while waiting for the response that was sure to come; something along the lines of 'Why?' or 'Oh so you moved here a while ago'.

"Huh. Well, I went out quite a bit as a kid. Like, before they tried forcing me into sports, I was all about chasing around a ball and stuff." Itadori replied thoughtfully. "Have you played any sports? Baseball?"

Adam blinked owlishly at the boy before shaking his head. "No, nothing like that. Since the festival is in a park, we should be able to try some sports there if you want to show me." Itadori once again began to sparkle before he nodded enthusiastically at the idea; the action inadvertently sending droplets of sauce that were on his face flying in Fushigoro's direction. Said boy cringed as the red liquid hit his cheek, but made no comments.

"I mean, a park is a bit small for baseball, but we can play some soccer or something!" Itadori said excitedly. "Oh, we'd have to buy a ball though…how much is the stipend?" The question was directed towards Fushigoro, who was mopping up the sauce that had been thrown onto his face with a napkin.

"Depends on how much you do; the school takes a cut of all the mission rewards, but it's still a decent amount. My stipend last week, with the missions I did, was around 50,000 yen." He took a bite of his food and swallowed it. "And that was 4 missions, 3 grade 2's, and a single grade 1."

"Woah…that much?" Itadori stared at his food for several moments. "Now I kinda feel dumb for offering to pay."

"I'll transfer the cash to you later if you want it," Adam replied. "But one of us will cover the next time either way. Plus, soon you'll be making the same amount."

"It isn't even a large amount considering what we do," Fushigoro added boredly. "We put our lives on the line daily, and what do we get? Certainly not enough for what I want." Adam gave the boy a reassuring smile; he didn't have the faintest clue of what he meant, but the boy had said in the past he would share one day.

"Didn't pin you for the type to be into designer clothes Fushigoro," Itadori said with a small smile. Fushigoro stared at him for several moments before huffing and turning back to his food.

"So what else is at these festivals? We talked about the goldfish stuff, but what else is there?" Adam asked.

"Uhh, lots of food!" Itadori waved the rest of his burger around whimsically. "Tons better than this stuff." He paused for a few moments. "Oh! We gotta wear yukatas! You haven't worn one before, right? It's part of the experience." It was obvious to anyone who bothered to glance at the boy that he was starting to get excited. "I wonder if there is a Yukata store around here…maybe we can all get one and have some fun!" The boy's genuine cheer made a smile appear on Adam's face. "Maybe after we can do some karaoke as well!"

"I doubt a local one would be open at that time," Fushigoro commented. "Either way, so much activity in one day sounds a bit tiring."

"Alright, alright, karaoke another day. But we gotta get some yukatas for the festival on Sunday." The boys quickly finished their lunch after that; their search for yukatas was conducted by Adam since Itadori had not yet bought a phone. Said boy had promised the other two it was the first thing he'd do after getting his stipend.

The rest of their day trip was quiet, with the boys stealing some of the change from their teacher's purchase to buy snacks for the road back.

"You know…" Adam threw a piece of gummy candy into his mouth and bit down. "We could've stopped by a sports store or something on the way back; we had the time." They were making their way up the steps towards the campus entrance; surprisingly, Itadori hadn't complained one bit while climbing the stained bricks.

"He said to be back by 1, at the latest," Fushigoro replied immediately. "At the latest." He emphasized. Adam turned away to roll his eyes, something the black-haired boy caught immediately. "I'm sure Itadori doesn't want to be skipping dinner to do placement tests."

"Skip dinner?! It's barely 12:30! How many of these are there?" Adam patted the boy on the back reassuringly.

"Don't worry about it, you'll be fine. Plus! If you don't know anything, just let Sukuna out to answer!" His cheerful expression immediately dropped as Fushigoro slapped him over the head. "I was just kidding!" He turned to Itadori with a smirk. "Maybe we can use the stick in his ass to hold a paper with answers outside the window." Itadori barked out a laugh, missing the next step on the stairs and falling forward. Adam began to laugh as the boy rolled onto his back upon landing.

Fushigoro held out his hand to help the boy up, but Itadori merely splayed out his arms and sighed. "Sorry, Goro, the embarrassment was too much; leave me here, for I could never face another after such a tumble."

"I see…" Fushigoro and Adam continued their walk up the stairs, leaving Itadori to lie on the stone with a shocked look.

"Hey! You weren't supposed to actually leave me here!"

His shouts were ignored.
