POWER RANGERS MERMAID FORCE-(Season 1)

But a mermaid has no tears, and therefore she suffers so much more-(Hans Christian Anderson)

The Caribbean Sea was a sea of the Atlantic ocean in the tropics of the Western Hemisphere. It was bounded by Mexico and Central America to the west and southwest, to the north by the Greater Antilles starting with Cuba, to the east by the Lesser Antilles, and to the south by the northern coast of South America. The Gulf of Mexico lies to the northwest.

The entire area of the Caribbean Sea, the numerous islands of the West Indies, and adjacent coasts are collectively known as the Caribbean Sea is one of the largest seas and has an area of about 2,754,000 km. The sea's deepest point is the Cayman Trough, between the Cayman Islands and Jamaica, at 7,686 m below sea level. The Caribbean coastline has many gulfs and bays: the Gulf of Gonave, Gulf of Venezuela, Gulf of Darien, Golfo de los Mosquitos, Gulf of Paria and Gulf of Honduras.

The Caribbean Sea had the world's second largest barrier reef, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. It runs 1000 km along the coasts of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras.

The name Caribbean derives from the Caribs, one of the region's dominant Native American groups at the time of European contact during the late 15th century. After Christopher Columbus landed in the Bahamas in 1492, the Spanish term Antilles applied to the lands; stemming from this, Sea of the Antilles became a common alternative name for "Caribbean Sea" in various European languages. During the first century of European colonization, Spanish dominance in the region remained undisputed.

From the 16th century, European visiting the Caribbean region distinguished the South Sea from North Sea.

The Caribbean Sea had been unknown to the populations of Eurasia until 1492 when Christopher Columbus sailed into Caribbean waters on a quest to find a sea route to Asia. At that time, the Americas in general were unknown to most Europeans, although they had been visited in the 10th century by the Vikings. Following the discovery of the islands by Columbus, the area was quickly colonized by several Western cultures. Following the colonization of the Caribbean islands, the Caribbean Sea became a busy area for European-based marine trading and transporters, and this commerce eventually attended pirates such as Samuel Bellamy and Blackbeard. In 2015, the area would be home to 22 island territories and would boarder 12 continental countries. But that was in the future. This...was the present time.

"Hi. My name is Zoey Moana. I'm 13 years old, and live here in the Caribbean. My whole life...i've dreamt of the sea. Not just being in it...or swimming in it...but living in it. Breathing it...tasting it...loving it...being part of it. And yet...in life, i stay pretty far away from it."

The Caribbean

Mermaid's Cove, Mermaid Island

Moana Residence

January 3rd-(2000)

Zoey Moana gasped for air as her blue eyes shot open, followed by shooting up in her bed and looking at her surroundings, her short messy neck-length blond hair messy, and seeing that she was in her bedroom of her beach-house and not the ocean. "(Sighs)." She sighed with relief. "Another dream about the ocean."

"Zoey?! It's time to get up, it's time for school!" Shouted the voice of Zoey's mother from downstairs.

"Okay, Mom, i'm up!" Zoey shouted. She then looked at the electric black clock on her night-stand on the right by her bed and saw that it's red numbers read 7:30. It was 7:30 in the morning. Her mother was right. It was time to get up for school. The 13-year old girl pulled the covers back with her right hand and got out of bed, revealing herself wearing a white short sleeve shirt and plaid olive green thigh-length pajama shorts, and went over to the closed window on the left side of her bed, opened it's shutters-which were white, revealing it to be glasses, and looked out at the white beach, the turquoise colored ocean, and the beautiful bright blue sky.

Zoey placed her arms on the window's stool and placed her chin on her arms. She smiled as she stared out at the beach, the ocean and the sky, and began to sing.

This is where i belong

Near the ocean

blue here

I feel completely new

here in the Caribbean

It's like my life was wrong

And somehow at last

i'm in

my own skin

Out here in

the Caribbean

There's so much light

here

Light and space

The sun's so bright

here

upon my face

It feels so right

Warm as love

Life seems to be

almost calling to me

from this strange place in

the Caribbean.

"That's me. Zoey. I just turned 13 the other day. I know. I look like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. I know, i know, i get that a lot. As much as i look, and SOUND like them, i'm surprised no one's asked me for my autograph. Anyways...welcome to Mermaid Island. Or MerIsland for short. It's where my family and i moved to in December 31st of last year. Famous for fun...sun...mermaids. Okay...the last one's just a gimmick to attract tourists. You'd have to be crazy to believe in mermaids.

Personality: I am known for having a very up-beat one and being generally optimistic. I also have a hobby of making hand-made jewelry. And i like to read mystery books. It is very rare for me not to display a bright smile on my face. My parents say i have the persona of a Disney Princess. Probably because i like to sing a lot. I have a very loving and caring heart and i'm very great at seeing the good in everyone, as well as bringing out the good in them. I also have incredible willpower and determination."

"Maybe i'm fearing the ocean too much. So far my 13th year and 2000 are off to a weird start for me." Zoey said. "What am i talking about, today's the day i start high school!" She said excitedly, thrusting her fists in the air. "And it's gonna be one to remember!"

Tale 1: The 13th Year.

13-Year old Ethan Prince opened his blue eyes and saw that he was under the sea, with the underwater sounds of the ocean all around him, along with all kinds of sea creatures that were swimming and going about their everyday lives.

Ethan had long brown neck-length hair, pale skin, he wore blue knee-length swim-trunks and he was barefoot. The boy looked around and saw more and more sea creatures swimming. He had no idea how he'd ended up here in the ocean of what he was even doing here to begin with. Last he remembered, he had laid down for the night. Could he have wandered down here in the middle of the night? Did he sleepwalk? No, that couldn't have been it. The lack of oxygen would've alerted his body and awoken him, because he would've unconsciously breathed in some of the water.

The 13-year old then realized something. He wasn't feeling the shortness of breath. His body wasn't even reacting to it's need for air. It was like being underwater was as natural as breathing for him. What was the deal? Since when could a human breathe underwater?

Not willing to ponder on the question any further, Ethan began swimming through the sea, looking around at it's beauty as he did. This was very cool. Sea creatures everywhere, the underwater sound of the ocean, beautiful sea plants and coral-reefs, the blue color of the sea. It was like living in another world. He might keep a second castle down here when he was grown. Once one got their sea legs, it wasn't so bad. So this was what it felt like to be a sea animal. To be under the sea. Not needing air, not needing or seeing dry land. It was so magical, so...at home.

The teenage-boy was then brought out of his thoughts by the sound of a beautiful female harmonizing voice, making him stop swimming. Where was that voice coming from? Ethan looked around for the source, but couldn't pin-point it's location, as it was coming from everywhere. Like the voice was omnipresent.

"Ethan? Ethan?" Came a female voice.

"I think my mother's calling me." Ethan said with his little boy voice, his lips not moving or uttering a sound. Which was odd to him, since humans couldn't talk underwater.

The harmonizing voice then stopped, followed by a moment of silence, except for the sounds of the ocean.

"Will i ever hear your voice again?" Ethan asked, again not moving his lips.

All was quiet in the sea, minus the ocean's sounds.

Ethan then felt the shortness of breath and began swimming up towards the surface as fast as he could. The light-headedness continued as he got closer and closer and his lungs felt like they would burst at any moment. He began swimming faster and faster and faster, his thoughts of nothing but air. His vision started to get blurry and his sped up his swimming-pace. The teen-boy continued swimming speedily and soon broke the surface, everything going white as he did.

Prince Manor

A shirtless Ethan laid sound asleep in his bed in his bedroom of his home on his right side.

"Ethan, wake up." Came the same female voice from Ethan's dream, followed by a knock at the door. "Ethan, are you up?" She asked, awaking Ethan. The door then opened and in walked his mother, Stella Prince--with blond hair and blue eyes--dressed in a white robe and white slippers, her hair going past her shoulders and stopping at her upper-back. "Rise and shine, my sweet Prince." She said as she went over to Ethan's bed, followed by grabbing the covers. "Come on." She said, pulling the covers, with Ethan grabbing them with both hands, laying on his back while doing so, to keep her from pulling them off.

"No." Ethan said through clinched teeth. His room was an 18th century bedroom, and his home was that of a big seaside castle that had been built by his family back in the year 1700. A castle they called 'PRINCE MANOR'. Ethan came from a rich family known as the Princes, the most well known wealthy people in the Caribbean since 1600. Of course, being a teenager, Ethan didn't pay his family history any mind.

"Up or you'll be late for your first day back at high school. And that's not a good impression for any child, especially a young Prince like yourself." Stella said. Normally, she would send Carla or one of the other staff-members to get Ethan out of bed, but being that it was the start of a new millennium, as well as the first day back at school, she wanted to do it herself.

Ethan was born on August 8th-1987, and had graduated from Mermaid's Cove Middle School at the age of 12 of last year, followed by starting his first day of Junior High on September 1st after summer vacation.

"I'm up, Mom." Ethan said.

"Uh-huh." Stella said, letting go of the covers. "Forgot to set your alarm again, huh? Up with you, come on. Up, up, up."

"Not until you leave the room." Ethan said before rolling onto his right side.

"Alright." Stella said. "But you better hurry up if you wanna to catch a ride with your father. You missed the bus." She said before she turned and went back over to the door to exit the room.

"Mom..." Ethan began, stopping his mother at the door, making her turn and face him. The 13-year old boy turned back over on his right side, propping himself up on it. "i've been having these dreams."

"Honey, now's not the time, okay? Now go wash up, get dressed and come down for breakfast." Stella said before exiting out of the room, closing it behind her.

Ethan laid back down on the bed on his back. "When is it ever not the time?" He said. The teen-boy then pulled back the covers with his right hand, revealing a pair of gray pajama pants and white socks he was wearing. The 13-year old got out of bed, went to the door, opened it and exited the room, closing the door back.

The Caribbean was a subregion of the Americas that consisted of the Caribbean Sea and it's islands; the nearby coastal areas on the mainland may also be included. The region was southeast of the Gulf of Mexico and the North American mainland, east of Central America, and north of South America. Situated largely on the Caribbean Plate, the region had more than 700 islands, islets, reefs, and cays Island arcs delinate the northern and eastern edges of the Caribbean Sea: The Greater Antilles in the north and the Lesser Antilles was considered to be a part of the Caribbean despite not bordering the Caribbean Sea. All the islands in the Antilles plus the Lucayan Archipelago from the West Indies, which was often interchangeable with the term Caribbean. On the mainland, Belize, Guyana, and Suriname are often included as parts of the Caribbean due to their political and cultural ties with the region.

Geopolitically, the islands of the Caribbean were often regarded as a subregion of North America, though sometimes they were included in Middle America of left as a subregion of their own and were organized into 33 political entities, including 13 sovereign states, 12 dependencies, 1 disputed territory, and 7 other overseas territories. There was a territory known as the Netherlands Antilles composed of five islands, all of which were Dutch dependencies and began December 15th-1954 and would come to an end in October 10-2010. From January 3rd-1958 to May 31st-1962, there was also a short-lived political union called the West Indies Federation composed of ten English-speaking Caribbean territories, all of which were then British dependencies. The West Indies cricket team continued to represent many of those nations.

Ethan, dressed for school, rode in a white car through the beach town of Mermaid's Cove, sitting in the front passenger-seat, wearing his seat-belt, with his father, George Prince-with black receding hair and brown eyes, driving the vehicle that was his, also wearing his seat-belt. He was driving Ethan to school, since he'd slept in and missed the bus. There were palm trees all over town, but that was to be expected. After all, this was the Caribbean, and the Caribbean was a tropical place.

"Now i'm gonna be late. Why didn't you get up when you were suppose to, huh?" George said.

"Sorry Dad." Ethan said.

George didn't say anything.

"Dad...does it ever happen to you to keep dreaming about the ocean or someone you can't see in your dreams?" Ethan asked.

"What?" George asked, confused. "It's probably all those books about mermaids and sea monsters that crazy sailor, Captain Barber, gives you to read." He said. "You know i'm gonna be late. I'm never gonna get to work in time."

"If you want...i can take the town bus the rest of the way." Ethan suggested.

"You got your bus-pass?" George asked.

Ethan reached in his right pants pocket, got out his bus-pass, un-folded it an showed it to George.

"Alright then." George said as Ethan re-folded his pass and put it back in his right pants pocket.

Elsewhere in Mermaid's Cove, Zoey was riding in her Mom's pink convertible car, with her mother in the driver's seat and Zoey in the front passenger-seat, both wearing their seat-belts, and her Mom's gray camcorder resting on the middle of the dash-board, recording them. Zoey's hair was in two short pony-tails on both sides of the top of her head, and her Mom had short wavy blond hair, brown eyes and wore brown glasses. Both of them were singing along to 'DON'T SAY YOU LOVE ME' by M2M playing on one of Zoey's CDs on the radio.

Love will find a way

Love will find a way

Don't say you love

me

You don't even know me

If you really want me,

then give me some time

Don't go there, baby

Not before i'm ready.

While the song kept playing, Zoey's Mom drove the pink car into the parking-lot of the school titled 'MERMAID'S COVE HIGH SCHOOL' and parked it in the parking-lot.

Don't say your heart's

in a hurry

It's not like we're gonna

get married

Give me, give me

some time.

Zoey's Mom un-locked both doors with the push of a button on her door and turned off the car.

"That's my Mom. Yvonna Moana. She and my Dad are marine biologists. That's the reason why we moved here. So that they could study the sea and it's creatures more. Also, they got transferred. Normally, i would've just taken the bus to school, but Mom insisted on driving me on the first day of junior high. And catching it on video, no less. I guess i can understand why. I mean, a teen only has their very first day of high school once. Might as well get it on film, right?"

"Okay, honey, this is it. Your first day of high school." Said Zoey's Mom,Yvonna.

"Junior High, Mom. Junior." Zoey said.

"Oh, what's the difference, you're still going to high school. Have a great day." Yvonna said.

"Thanks, i will. You too." Zoey said before un-buckling her seat-belt, opening the passenger-door, and getting out as Yvonna got the camcorder off the dash-board with her right hand and pointed it at her, filming her get her pink messenger-bag out of the passenger floor-board, followed by putting it on around her left shoulder and closing the door. "Bye, Mom." She said as she waved with her right hand as she turned and ran off to the school.

"Bye!" Yvonna shouted, waving with her left hand, smiling. "Have a good time."

Ethan walked up to the cabin home of Arthur Barber, his dark gray and white backpack on-hanging by it's right strap, and proceeded to open the door, only for it to be locked. What was he thinking? This was Arthur's house, of course the door would be locked. He then peered in through one of the two windows that were on both sides of the door, followed by reaching into his right pants pocket and getting out his key to the house. Arthur had given it to him in 1997 when he was still 10. He then used it to unlock it to unlock the door, opened it, and went inside, closing the door after, then placed the key back into his right pants pocket.

After being let off at the bus-stop by his Dad, Ethan waited for the town bus, hopped on it, and came straight here to talk with Arthur about the dreams he had been having about the ocean and the mysterious singing voice he'd heard in them. Arthur was a sail captain and owned every book about the ocean and all it's sea creatures, so he was an expert on this kind of stuff. If anyone could interpret these dreams, it was him.

He looked around the house, the inside being a mess, then took his backpack off, letting it drop to the floor, followed by going over to the wooden stairs and running up them, only to stop at the landing between the two sets of stairs when he heard a cough. He went over to the wooden rail, put his hands on it, and looked and saw Arthur Barber sound asleep on the sofa. Sleeping off last night's third New Year's party, no doubt.

Arthur had black hair and a thin black/gray mixed beard.

Ethan bent down under the railing and slid off the floor of the steps and went over to Arthur and sat on the stool in front of the sofa.

"Uncle Arthur?" Ethan called, attempting to wake him up. He always addressed Arthur uncle Arthur, even though they weren't related in any way. But he always considered him as part of the family like did all the staff who worked for Princes.

Arthur awoke, opening his brown eyes, to see Ethan sitting on the stool in front of him. "Oh, hey."

"Morning, uncle Arthur." Ethan greeted.

"Ethan." Arthur began. "What are you doing here at this hour?"

"I need to talk to you about something." Ethan said.

"What?" Arthur asked in a 'are you kidding, at this early in the morning' tone. "Shouldn't you be in school or something? Isn't today the first day back?"

"Yeah. But this is more important." Ethan said.

"(Sighs)." Arthur sighed. "Oh, Ethan, listen. I'm still pretty tired from last night's third New Year's party, and i can hardly think straight."

"Knew it." Ethan thought. "But i really need to talk to you." He said.

"You know what, lad? You just picked a bad time. Just be a good boy and come see me later after school, okay? I'll be at the dock on board your family's ship." Arthur said before falling back asleep. He worked at the dock everyday, either sailing vacationing tourists around in boats or sail-ships or simply sailing by himself for pleasure. Occasionally, he would even take the Prince family on a voyage on their family ship.

Seeing that he would get nowhere with Arthur this early in the morning, Ethan got up from the stool and covered him with a quilt at the end of the sofa, then sat on the left arm of the sofa and stroked the man's hair with his right hand, and smiled at him. Uncle Arthur looked so peaceful when he slept.

Zoey and all of the other kids sat at their arm-chair desks in one of the junior classes of Mermaid's Cove High School, mythology class, with a female heavy-set teacher sitting at her desk. Most of the kids were ages 13 to 16, with some of them being 12, depending on when their birthdays were. Zoey's messenger-bag hung on the left side of the chair part of her desk due to it being her first day here at this school and not having a locker to put it in, like the other kids did.

The female teacher had short blond hair and brown eyes.

"Good morning, class. Welcome back to Mermaid's Cove High. I hope everyone had a nice, wonderful Christmas vacation. I know i did." The woman said, smiling. "Anyway...my name is Mrs. Pufferman. And the reason i say that is because i see we have a new student with us today. Why don't you come on up here and introduce yourself to everyone?"

"Me?" Zoey asked, stunned.

"Yes, you, come on up here." Mrs. Pufferman said.

"Oh, uh...okay." Zoey said. "Great. Put on the spot on my very first day of junior high. I hope i make a good first impression." She thought before getting up from her desk and going up to Mrs. Pufferman's desk, then she turned to face the class. "Uh, hello. My name is Zoey."

The class didn't say anything.

"Well, don't just sit there like statues, say hello." Mrs. Pufferman said to the class.

"Hello, Zoey." All the kids greeted dryly.

"Oh, surely you all can do better than that." Mrs. Pufferman said.

"Hello, Zoey." All of the kids repeated in sarcastically happy tones, with fake smiles on their faces.

"So much for making a first good impression." Zoey thought.

"So tell us a about yourself, Zoey." Mrs. Pufferman said.

"Well, uh...i'm from Atlanta-Georgia, my family and i just moved here last year on December 31st...and i just turned 13 the other day." Zoey said.

"No way!" Gasped a teenage-girl as she shot up from her desk. She had shoulder-length blond hair and blue eyes. "So did i! I just turned 13 the other day too!"

"What?!" Zoey gasped, shocked and surprised, but it wasn't the matching age reveal that had caught her by surprise. It was the fact that the girl standing up looked like her. EXACTLY like her. A mirror image, to be percise. Not only that, she even sounded like her too. They looked so much alike that they could easily be mistaken for the Olsen twins. "But if that's the case...then that means...What year were you born?"

"1987." The blond teen answered.

"Get out!" Zoey gasped. "So was i!"

"WOW." The look-alike blond girl and Zoey said in unison.

"GREAT. Two Taylors this semester. So far the first year of the millennium isn't looking so good from this end." Said a 13-year old girl with blond hair that went past her shoulders and stopped at her upper-back, her eyes were blue, and she wore pink lipstick. Although she was only 13, she looked older due to the lipstick and make-up she was wearing.

"Now, now, mind your manners, Brook." Mrs. Pufferman said.

The 13-year old girl known as Brook didn't say anything.

"Thank you for that introduction, Zoey. You may return to your desk so we can begin." Mrs. Pufferman said.

Zoey returned to her desk and sat down.

"Alright, class, now that we've gotten to know our new student/class-mate, let's get started, shall we?" Mrs. Pufferman said as she got up from her desk, picking up a black marker on her desk as she did, followed by taking the cap off and putting it on top. "We'll start with discussions of 'The...Little...Mermaid'." She said as she wrote the title on the marker-board. "Some of you, if not all, have probably seen the animated film version that came out in 1989. But the story was originally written by Danish author, Hans Christian Anderson, in 1837."

Opening the door, Ethan rushed inside the class-room, closing the door behind him afterwards, with only the right strap of his backpack on his right shoulder, holding it with it's right hand, and he stopped in his tracks when Mrs. Pufferman noticed him. Normally he would've put his backpack in his locker, like all the other kids put their's in their lockers, but he was in such a hurry to make to school and to class, he hadn't even thought about it. He was already late as it was.

"We just started class, Ethan. May i ask why you are so late this morning?" Mrs. Pufferman said.

"I over-slept. Sorry." Ethan said. After leaving Arthur's house, he flagged down a taxi and asked the driver to drop him off here at Mermaid's Cove High School, paying him afterwards.

"Over-sleeping on the first day back at school? Not a good start, Mr. Prince. Please make sure it doesn't happen again. Take your seat." Mrs. Pufferman said. "As was saying, The Little Mermaid was written by Hans Christian Anderson in 1837." She reiterated as Ethan walked down the aisle to get to his desk, but stopped in his tracks at Zoey's desk where both of their blue eyes locked.

Zoey stared at the boy, examining his features. His long neck-length light brown hair...his ocean blue eyes...his pale skin...and his structure.

Ethan then walked past Zoey, resuming his walk toward his desk.

Zoey looked behind her at the boy and watched as he went to his desk, hung his backpack on the back of it's chair, and then sat down at it. He then noticed Zoey staring at him and she quickly turned face-forward in her desk.

"Uh-oh. He caught me staring at him." Zoey thought, blushing.

Ethan stared at the back of the short blond-haired girl who had been staring at him just now. Who was she? And why had she been staring at him just now? It wasn't like she knew him. He hadn't seen this girl in school at all last year, so she had to have been new. Yet still, there was something...strange about her. "What a weird girl." He thought.

...

Four hours later, Zoey and seven other kids stood at the food shield during lunch, putting food on their trays that were resting on the shield. The girls' trays were pink and the boys' trays were blue. All the rest of the kids, meanwhile, were sitting at the tables, eating their lunch.

Zoey got a red apple and placed it on the side of her tray. On her tray was a plate of three pieces of fried fish, french fries, a paper basket of chicken-strips and a peach soda.

"Hi there." A young male voice greeted, getting Zoey's attention, seeing Ethan in front of her, his blue tray on the shield with food and a blue cream soda.

"Oh. Hi." Zoey greeted nervously. "Boy...does this kid's skin ever see the sun? He's so pale." She had noticed earlier in class, but had been too focused on how cute he was to pay it any closer attention.

"You're Zoey, right? The new kid." Ethan said.

"Uuuuh...right." Zoey said nervously. "He knows my name." She thought.

"You're in the same class as me. Nice to meet you." Ethan said.

"How do you know my name?" Zoey asked. She had been quiet during half the school day and hadn't spoken a word since she introduced herself to the class. How did this boy know her name?

"My friend, Sabrina, told me." Ethan answered.

"Oh." Zoey said. "Thanks a lot, Sabrina, whoever you are." She thought. "Nice to meet you." She said, repeating Ethan, not sure what to say next. "Enough with the small talk! Start a conversation with him!"

"Being in the same class is SO cool." Ethan said.

"Uh, yeah. Cool." Zoey said. "This is goin' nowhere fast." She thought.

"So are you coming to the championship Friday?" Ethan asked.

"Huh? Championship?" Zoey asked. What was this boy talking about?

"Yeah. There's an event this Friday called the 2000 Surf Championship in honor of the new millennium, and i'm it." Ethan explained.

"Oh, yeah, i have heard about that. I saw the commercial on TV a few times." Zoey said.

"You really should come." Ethan said.

"Friday? Don't we have school on Friday?" Zoey asked. Back home in Atlanta-Georgia, school was open on Friday and closed on Saturday and Sunday. Why would anyone be having an event with a kid in it on a school day? Unless they were planning on having it after school. That would make sense.

"You're kidding, right?" Ethan said.

"No. Why would i be?" Zoey said.

"School is out Friday through Sunday here." Ethan said. Most school were active Monday through Friday, but around here in Mermaid's Cove, schools let out for the whole weekend.

"Oh." Zoey said. "Sorry, i'm new. My family and i just moved here on New Year's Eve, so...i have a lot to learn about this town." A school that let out for the weekend? Her kind of school.

"So are you still coming to the championship?" Ethan asked.

"I, uh-"

"Good, see you there." Ethan said, cutting Zoey off as he moved further down with his trey to get more food.

"Uuuuuuuh..." Was all Zoey could say.

"Well, that went well." Came a female voice.

"Huh?" Zoey said as she turned to see the girl who looked exactly like her.

"Hi, i'm Sabrina Taylor." Said the girl who looked like Zoey, her pink tray resting on the shield, with food and a Dr. Pepper soda on it.

"Nice to meet you, Sabrina Taylor." Zoey said. "So you're the one who put me on the spot with Ethan. Thanks a lot." She thought.

"Just Sabrina is fine. May i call you Zoey?" Sabrina said.

"If you want." Zoey said.

"So tell me...are you and Ethan Prince friends yet?" Sabrina asked.

"Who?" Zoey asked, confused.

"Ethan Prince. The kid you were talking to just now." Sabrina said.

"No." Zoey said, shaking her heard. "Wait a minute, he's a Prince? I don't understand. I mean...what is a Prince doing here in school with kids like us? And public school, no less." This was her first time hearing about such a thing. A Prince going to school with common kids. Public school, to be exact. What kind of royal heir was this?

"He's not "A" Prince, Prince is his last name. He and his family are well known here. They're the richest family in the Caribbean." Sabrina explained.

"Really?" Zoey asked. The hottest boy in school was the richest kid in the Caribbean? Who was he, Richie Rich?

"Yes, really." Sabrina said. "You're in love with him, aren't you?" She asked curiously.

"No way, i'm not in love with him. I don't even know him." Zoey said.

"Who does she think she is?" Brook asked, sitting at one of the long tables with four other teen-girls on the left, all five of their pink treys of food resting on the table, each with a soda beside it.

Two of the three girls on Brook's side had brown hair and brown eyes, one of them was a blond with bown eyes, and the girl sitting on the left side of the table had fiery red hair and blue eyes. The two brownettes' hair went past their shoulders and stopped at their upper-backs, the second blond's hair was shoulder-length, and the red-head girl's hair went past her shoulders and stopped at her upper-back.

"She was chatting with Ethan. And she's new." Said the blond-haired girl, sitting on left next to the brown second brown-haired girl.

"No fair." Added the brown-haired girl sitting Brook's right.

"The girl bad-mouthing you is Brook Treasure. Age-13. She started here last year, same as Ethan. She may look older, but that's only because of the make-up she's wearing. Her family is, like, the richest family on Mermaid's Island. Plus her Dad is the mayor of Mermaid's Cove, so make sure you stir clear of her, she's trouble." Sabrina explained.

"Message received." Zoey said. "What about her Mom? What does she do?"

"Oh. Her Mom? She's a traveling fashion designer." Sabrina said.

"Really?" Zoey said, fascinated.

"Yeah, but...don't let that cloud your cautions of Brook. She's really devious." Sabrina said.

"I'll keep that in mind." Zoey said.

"Hahahahaha!" Came the laughter of girls, getting Zoey's attention. She noticed Ethan sitting on the right of the table Brook and the other four girls were sitting at, with all five girls laughing and Ethan grinning.

"Hahahahaha!" Brook laughed. "Oh, Ethan, you crack me up." Ethan was telling her and the other four girls about his Christmas vacation and had mentioned something funny.

"Sounds like he's really well known and liked here. Ethan, i mean." Zoey said.

"Of course he is, his family's been rich since the 1700s." Sabrina began as Zoey looked at her. "The year 1700s, to be percise. Not to mention the fact that he's the most popular kid in school. He also lives in a big castle called 'PRINCE MANOR' and is in the swim team."

"Golly, that's amazing." Zoey said. "But why is he sitting with Brook and those other four girls?"

"Oh, that? That's the rich kids table." Sabrina said.

"The rich kids table?" Zoey asked, confused.

"Yeah, only kids of wealthy parents get to sit there." Sabrina explained.

"And because Ethan is a rich kid-"

"That's why he's sitting with Brook and her friends." Sabrina said, cutting Zoey off.

"Speaking of which, who are those girls sitting with Brook?" Zoey said.

"Lindsey Taana, Jenny Bailey, Tina Dallas and Abby Skylar. Their families are rich, just like Brook's and Ethan's. Well, except Abby's. She's only sitting with them because she's a cheerleader like they are." Sabrina said.

"Thanks for pointing that out." Zoey said.

"No problem." Sabrina said.

Zoey looked back at Ethan. "Ethan looks like a nice guy though."

"Yeah, well, i wouldn't go get'n any ideas." Sabrina said before Zoey looked at her. "Ethan is the most hottest boy in school. If you're thinking about pursing him, you'll have to deal with a lot of rivals. Mainly Brook." Sabrina warned.

"Which is why i'm NOT pursing him because i'm NOT in love with him." Zoey said.

"Well, if you really wanna have a shot with Ethan, i'll give you a few pointers on how to get boys." Sabrina said.

"You didn't hear a word i just said, did you?" Zoey said.

"Not at all." Sabrina said.

"Great. I make one friend on my first day of junior high and she already thinks she knows everything about me." Zoey thought. She had just met Ethan and already someone was trying to fix her up with him.

"Come on, new kid, move it!" Came a male voice.

"Huh?" Zoey said as she and Sabrina looked and saw the other kids standing in line with their treys on the food shield.

"You're holding up the line here!" Said a teenage-boy in line of the few kids, the owner of the male voice that had spoken previously.

"Oh!" Zoey said, realizing she and Sabrina had spent so much time talking to one another, they'd completely forgotten about the other kids in line. "Sorry about that." She apologized nervously, a guilty expression on her face, before moving forward with her trey, with Sabrina following with her's.

Mermaid's Cove Mall

At the Mermaid's Cove Mall, inside one of the strip-stores, Sabrina stood outside a small dressing-room with a red curtain, her brown messenger-bag across her right shoulder, waiting for Zoey to finish changing into one of the store's outfits. After school had let out for the day, both girls had taken the town bus to the mall to do some shopping for Zoey. Of course they had checked with their parents by their cellphones first to see if it was okay with them to go to the mall, which they said it was, and here they were.

Zoey pulled the curtain back, revealing herself wearing a sun-dress that went down to the calf of her legs, and a pair of red high heel shoes, then she tried on a short green sleeveless shirt exposing her stomach, white ankle-length pants and white high heel shoes, then she tried on a long orange sleeveless/shoulderless prom dress, holding it up past her ankles with both hands, revealing herself to also be wearing a pair of orange stockings and orange high heel shoes.

She does the same when she does her hair

Oh, she wears what she wears with pride

It reflects what she feels inside

She makes an impression wherever she goes

She makes an impression, it's more than her clothes

She makes an impression, you bet you won't forget, whoa, whoa, whoa.

Sabrina later took a picture of her and Zoey with her gray flip-cellphone, Zoey having having her messenger-bag on across her right shoulder, they later did poses by a female mannequin, acting as if they were mannequins themselves, then they got some burgers, fries and sodas at one of the restaurant in the mall, then they got ice-cream cones at the 'BASKINS AND ROBINS' store in the building, Zoey's ice-cream being strawberry and Sabrina's being vanilla.

(She makes an impression)

It's not the store of the designer's name

(Ooh)

It's not the price, she won't play that game

But the girl steps out

(Steps out)

You can tell what she's all about

She makes an impression, it's more than her clothes.

The girls took more and more pictures of each other throughout the mall in other stores, some with them together, some with them single in other outfits and shoes they tried on, some with them making poses, and some with them making funny facial expressions.

She makes an impression, you won't forget.

Later, the two look-alike girls were gazing at some jewelry in another strip-store in a display glass counter.

"Zoey, you need to look more fashionable. Isn't it all pretty?" Sabrina said.

"Yeah. But, uuuh...which ones should i get?" Zoey said.

"That seashell pendant looks kind of cute." Sabrina said.

"Huh?" Zoey said. She then noticed a beautiful pale pink seashell brooch in the display glass counter. "Oh, my gosh." She said in amazement. She had never seen anything this beautiful before. "Oh, my gosh."

Later, the two look-alike girls were gazing at some jewelry in another strip-store in a display glass counter.

"Wow. Pretty. But...how much is it?" Zoey said.

"I don't know. But i'll bet i can buy it for you. Think of it as a late birthday gift from me, your BFF." Sabrina said. "Excuse me, ma'am." She said to a female employee standing behind the glass counter, her back turned.

The female employee turned to face the blond-haired teen-girls. "Yes, can i help you?"

"How much for this seashell pendant?" Sabrina asked, with a smile on her face.

On the dock side of town, Ethan-with his backpack on, walked up to the Prince family's 1700s sail-ship, with a male sailor with brown eyes--dressed in a white long sleeve sailor uniform with a white hat and black shoes--standing by the wooden slope on the right, drinking, coke soda.

"Hey, Bay." Ethan greeted as he walked up to the sailor now known as Bay. "Where's Captain Barber?" He always addressed Arthur by his title name whenever the man was at work.

"On board the ship inside the Captain's quarters, reading some old book." Bay said.

"Thanks." Ethan said before he walked up the slope, onto the ship, went over to the door of the Captain's quarters, opened it, went inside and closed the door afterwards.

Inside the Captain's quarters, Arthur was sitting at the Captain's table, reading a book titled 'FAMOUS PEOPLE OF THE 18TH CENTURY', with a chair in front of the table. He wore a brown sailor hat with a gray anchor design on the front of it.

"Uncle Arthur. Uncle Arthur." The voice of Ethan called.

Arthur put the book down on the table and saw and saw Ethan standing in front of the door. "There he is." He said in his fake pirate accent. "How's my favorite little human minow?" He asked as Ethan walked up to the table.

"Fine." Ethan answered.

"Ya see this?" Arthur asked as he picked up the book and showed him a picture of a black and white headshot photo of a 1700s-dressed man on the left page, with writing at the bottom of it. "Do ya know who this is?"

"It's Ethan Allen." Ethan said.

"Who was?" Arthur asked.

"An American farmer, business, land speculator, philosopher, writer, lay theologian, American Revolutionary War patriot and politician." Ethan said.

"Haha! And that...earns you a seat at the Captain's table." Arthur said before putting the book back down on the table.

Ethan sat his backpack down on the floor on the right, pulled out the chair in front of the table and sat down in it.

"Thank my Mom. She's a huge nostalgic fan of the 1700s." Ethan said.

"This is the man. THIS is the man." Arthur said, poking the picture of Ethan Allen with his left index-finger. "It's the guy yer mother named you after. One of her favorite people from the 18th century."

"If this is a book about the 1700s, how come you're the one who has it and not my Mom?" Ethan asked.

"Ah. That is because i bought it...after i overheard her talking to yer father about making plans to buy it herself." Arthur said. "Shh." He said, putting his right index-finger to his lips.

"It'll be our little secret." Ethan said.

"That it will." Arthur said. "So i guess, uh...i guess you came here for something, huh? Do you have a good reason?"

"I just need to talk to someone." Ethan said.

"Well, talk to me then. What's on yer mind?" Arthur said.

Ethan didn't reply.

"Oh, no, you're gonna talk about what happened to me at the Prince New Year's ship party the other night, aren't ya, lad?" Arthur said.

"No. I'm not." Ethan assured. "It's just that...i keep dreaming about this voice."

"What do you mean, what voice?" Arthur asked, confused.

"Some voice i keep hearing in my dreams." Ethan said.

"Oh. This voice...who does it belong to?" Arthur said curiously.

"I wouldn't know. I've never seen her before." Ethan said.

"How do ye know the voice belongs to a her?" Arthur asked.

"Because she sings to me and it sounds very beautiful. Not of this world beautifu, to be exact. We don't really talk much. I mean...it's more like we can read other's thoughts and feelings. As if i've known her for quite some time. But the one thing that really baffles me is the fact that she can sing underwater." Ethan said.

"Underwater?" Arthur asked, baring a confused looked.

"Yeah, that's where i'm always at when i dream about the mystery voice. Under the ocean, to be percise." Ethan said.

Arthur was silent for a moment. "Well, ye know what i think? I think ye are a very lucky lad to have a beautiful voice like that come visit ye in yer dreams."

"Do mermaids come visit you in your's?" Ethan asked. It was no secret that Captain Barber believed in the existence of mermaids and other mythical sea creatures. Mermaid's Cove wasn't that big of a town, and word tended to travel fast about things here, so it was near impossible to keep anything hidden. Everyone in the beach community knew about Captain Barber's belief in mermaids and other fairytale undersea life and had labled him as insane because of it. People could be so cruel sometimes.

"Now, now, wait a minute, wait a minute. I see where all this is leadin'." Arthur said.

"Why don't you like talking about them any-"

"I just-Not now." Arthur said, cutting Ethan off.

"But Captain Barber-"

"No, Captain Barber nothing, Sherlock." Arthur said, cutting Ethan off again. "Come on, let's get goin'. Let's go, come on, ya gotta get home...before yer Dad gets back from work, he's gonna know ye were here, he'll tell yer mother and she's not gonna be too happy."

"Fine." Ethan said before getting out of the chair, putting his backpack on, and walking over to the door. "But you still haven't told me what you think my dreams mean." He said as he turned to Arthur.

"Oh, laddie, what do i know about dreams, huh? My whole adult life has just been one big shattered dream since college, it's been one big mess." Arthur said.

"Your life isn't a mess. But your house sure is." Ethan said.

"Thank ye, Sherlock." Arthur said. "See you later, lad."

Ethan turned and opened the door, exited the Captain's quarters, and closed the door afterwards.

Later at the Moana beach house residence, Zoey and her parents were sitting at the dinner table in the kitchen, having now finished dinner and their tea drinks. After Sabrina had bought the seashell brooch for Zoey, they left the mall, got on the town bus, and headed home. Sabrina had been the first to be let off at her house, then Zoey was let off at her's later.

Zoey's father had black hair, brown eyes, and he wore glasses.

"I never liked popular kids when i was in school anyway. They were always so stuck-up, snobish and snooty, especially the ones that were rich. And you, dear Zoey, are neither of those things." Dad said. Zoey had shared her story about her encounter with Ethan Prince at school with him and Yvonna, how he and his family were the richest people in the Caribbean, and how he was the most popular kid in school.

"That's my Dad. Xavier Moana. He's a marine biologist like my Mom and they're both currently working at the Sea World amusement park here in Mermaid's Cove, studying it's sea creatures, as well as the sea creatures in the ocean. Cool, right?"

"Dad, really...it's no big deal." Zoey assured. "No big deal at all. I merely submented my social status to that of a nobody for, oh, i don't know...forever?" She thought.

"Zoey, if it makes you feel any better, i was never popular in school. And my life turned out just fine." Yvonna said.

"Good to know." Zoey said. "That's relatable." She thought. "Look what you have for a son." She thought as she looked at her 10-year old younger brother, Dustin Moana, who was standing over by an aquarium in the living-room on a table behind the sofa that a red octopus was in.

Dustin's teacher had assigned him the octopus today to take care of it for whole week. If he was successful, he would be given a SUPER A. Something he had never gotten before. he had gotten straight As, but never a Super A. He didn't think any of his classmates did either, which made him want to do this either, which made him want to do this even more. So he could be the first kid in his class to get a Super A.

Dustin had long neck-length blond hair, brown eyes, he wore a red short sleeve shirt with a button-up collar that had the top button un-buttoned, white trims were around the collar and the sleeve, tan calf-length pants-like shorts, white socks and black sneakers with white laces and white trims.

"Hi, cute little Zoey. Here, girl." Dustin said to the octopus.

Zoey got up from the table and stormed over to where Dustin was and seized him by the right arm with he left hand, making him face her. "What'd you call that thing?"

"Cute?" Dustin said.

Zoey released Dustin's arm. "No, you didn't, you called it Zoey."

"Well, there's no denying the resemblance." Dustin said.

"This is my little brother, Dustin. He's 10 years old and in middle school, which he started last year on September 1st after Summer vacation. How he graduated elementary school is beyond me. As you can already tell, he's incredibly annoying. And...well...you just wanna slap him all the time. I know that's not a nice thing to say...but the truth isn't always nice."

"Hey!" Yvonna said as she and Xavier came over to where Zoey and Dustin were.

"Children." Xavier added.

"Oh, Dad, here's the instruction manual on the octopus my teacher gave me." Dustin said as he bent down and got a yellow book off the table in front of the aquarium and handed it to Xavier.

"Oh, that's awesome, look at this." Xavier said as he looked at the cover of the book, which was that of a red octopus drawing, with the red title 'OCTOPUS CARE MANUAL' at the bottom. "You know, you should really take a look at this sometime, Zoey."

"I'm out. Brook report due tomorrow on The Little Mermaid. I haven't even finished the book." Zoey said before heading towards the stairs. She and the rest of the kids in her class had been assigned to read 'THE LITTLE MERMAID' by Hans Christian Anderson and they had to finish it, write a report about it's events, and turn the report in tomorrow. No pressure.

"Uh, Zoey..." Yvonna began as she turned to see Zoey heading for the stairs, causing the girl to stop and face her. "are you sure you're okay?"

"Mom, it's fine, really. I'm not the 'POPULAR TYPE'. I'm more of the...new geek." Zoey said. "Oh, why did i say that?" She thought.

"Zoey, you are not a geek." Yvonna said. "You are beautiful...you have a great personality...you're a wonderful kid...you're smart...you're decent, you're kind, loving, compassionate..."

TOP TEN REASONS WHY ZOEY'S SO PERFECT

(1)-Beautiful

(2)-Great Personality

(3)-Wonderful Kid

(4)-Smart

(5)-Decent

(6)-Kind

(7)-Loving

(9)-Compassionate

"Here we go. Pep-talk from Mom...again. It's not that what she's saying about me isn't true...it's just that i've heard it so many times already. Which makes the whole thing even more boring than usual."

"And you're helpful towards me and your father." Yvonna continued.

(10)-Helpful Towards Parents

"You forgot nice to strangers." Xavier said to Yvonna, him and Dustin now looking at her and Zoey.

(11)-Nice To Strangers

"And don't forget she's housebroken." Dustin joked.

(12)-Housebroken.

Yvonna and Xavier looked at Dustin. Why did he always have to say such insulting things about his sister? Siblings' job, they supposed.

Zoey then turned back to the stairs and ran up them, heading for her room.

Ethan sat at the long table with his parents, eating spaghetti and meatballs with gold forks in the dining-room of Prince Manor, with wine glasses of lemonade beside the plates. The Prince family was dining in silence, no words from either of them since they sat down and started to eat. Ethan had come straight home after leaving Arthur's sail-ship and hadn't told his parents he had gone there due to the fact that they believed his beliefs of mermaids and other mythical sea creatures were having a negative impact on him. Stella sat at the end of the table-wearing pink lipstick and a white long sleeve big 1700s dress with big and puffy shoulders. Her hair was in an 18th century style and she wore white stockings and white high heel shoes. George sat on the right and Ethan sat on the left.

"Ethan's being awfully quiet. Why is he being so quiet?" Stella thought as she looked at Ethan. He wasn't normally this quiet. Usually he would be talking up a storm and she and his father couldn't get him to stop. Not today...or any day before. Not since..."Sooooo, Ethan...how was your first day back at school? Was it great seeing all your friends again?"

Ethan didn't respond, as he was zoned out and in his own little world while poking one of the meatballs with his fork. "Huh?" He said as he stopped poking the meatball.

"I asked you how your first day at school was." Stella repeated.

"Okay, i guess. There's a new kid in my class this year." Ethan said.

"What's he like?" George asked.

"He is a she." Ethan said.

"Really? Well...does this new mystery kid have a name?" George asked curiously.

"Zoey." Ethan stated.

"So what is this Zoey like? Did you get to know her?" Stella asked.

"We talked in the cafeteria during lunch." Ethan said.

"What about?" Stella asked.

"Not much. I just told her about the 2000 Surf Championship i'm entering in Friday. She's gonna be there to cheer me on." Ethan said.

"Wow. Sounds like the two of you have become fast friends." George said.

"I'll say. This Zoey sounds like a really sweet girl. I can't wait to meet her." Stella added, smiling.

"Me either. First day meeting her and already she wants to give you her support? I'd say there's more going on than just a friend thing." George said.

"It's not even like that." Ethan assured, smiling.

"If you say so." Stella said, clearly not convinced.

"Zoey and i just met each other today. We're not even friends yet, much less a couple. How can we possibly be in love?" Ethan said. Aside from their conversation in the cafeteria at lunch, he and Zoey hadn't interacted with one another the whole day at school. He had just told his parents about her. They hadn't even met her yet, and already they were talking about him and her being a couple?

"Ever hear the phase "love at first sight"?" Stella asked.

"I've heard it, i just don't believe it." Ethan said. Love at first sight. What a joke. Nobody falls in love with someone at first sight.

"Well, believe it or not, it does happen. It's how your father and i fell for one another." Stella said.

"That's not how it is with me and Zoey. At the moment, we're just two kids that go to the same school, that's all. We are NOT a romantic item." Ethan said.

"Well, you may not be in love with her, but she's definitely in love with you." Stella said.

"I doubt that." Ethan said. And his parents worried about Arthur's crazy beliefs rubbing off on him. All that talk about love at first sight was just a mere fantasy. A fairytale. It only happened in those romantic novels his mother loved to read so much. People didn't fall in love with someone in the real world as soon as they saw them. In books and movies, sure, but...not in real life.

Later that night, Zoey-with her hair down, was in her dark room, sound asleep in bed on her back, with the pale pink seashell brooch she'd bought at the mall resting on her night-stand next to a 'NANCY DREW' novel. She had long finished reading 'THE LITTLE MERMAID', as well as writing the book report about it, so she spent the rest of the day reading one of her ND books.

Zoey was a huge lover of mystery books and had been collecting them since the age of 10. Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, etc. She loved them so much, in fact, that she wanted to be a mystery solver when she grew up. A detective, to be percise. But that wouldn't be for eight more years and that felt like forever from now to a teenager.

Plus, there was so much she had to do in those years before then, such as graduate high school, go to college for four years, then graduate from there. So much to do in her life, so much time. What she really wanted was to be a mystery solver right now. If only she had her own mystery to solve. If only she had her own series of mysteries to solve.

How she wished that were possible. But wishing was for little kids, not teenagers. And everyone over 8 knows that wishes don't come true. In fairytale stories, perhaps, but not in the real world. After all, this was the start of the 21st century, not the dark ages. It just wasn't normal...or plausible...or realistic.

As the 13-year old girl slept soundly...the pale pink seashell brooch turned a regular pink.

The now pink seashell started glowing bright pink, awaking Zoey, making her sit up in bed-wearing a white sleeveless undershirt tank top.

"Wha-what's going on?" Zoey asked before she noticed the bright glowing seashell pendant, which was blinding her, making her put her right arm up over her squinting eyes, her hand balled into a fist.

"What in the world?" The 13-year girl said, confused. Out of curiosity, she slowly reached for the bubble with her right hand, and her fingers went into the bubble, but it didn't burst, which completely flipped her out, making her withdraw. What kind of bubble was this? Why hadn't it popped when she touched it? All bubbles did when they were touched. Some even popped on their own after a few seconds. But not this one. Why?

The glowing shell then stuck itself to the middle of Zoey's chest, followed by her levetating out of bed-wearing pink pajama pants, and she began to spin around, followed by a whirlpool forming around her. Inside the whirlpool, in a flash of pink light, her shirt was replaced with a pink long sleeve spandex top and a short pink cape that stopped at her upper-back, then a pair of long pink gloves appeared on her arms in a second flash of pink light, stopping at her elbows with three pink arm-fittings. A white belt and a pink short skirt took the place of her pajama pants in a third flash of pink light. A pair of pink spandex pants took the place of her pajama pants in a fourth flash of pink light. A pair of pink calf-length 3-inch heel gogo-boots appeared on her legs in a fifth flash of pink light, then a pink helmet appeared on her head in a sixth flash of pink light, covering her entire head, with a black visor shapped like a fish's tail, followed by two long pink-glowing lights growing out of both sides of the back of her head-stopping at her lower back, then ceasing their glow, revealing them to be long pink pony-tails of hair, completing her transformation, and the whirlpool disappeared.

Zoey then disappeared in a flash of pink light.

...

In a flash of pink light, Zoey appeared on the beach, now adult size, her seashell brooch no longer glowing.

"Huh? What just happened." Zoey asked herself, confued. "How did i get out here on the beach?" She asked as she looked at her surroundings. She had to have been on different spot of the beach, as she couldn't see her house anywhere. The 13-year old girl then gazed down at the pink outfit she was now wearing.

"And why do i have on this weird, but fabulous-looking outfit?" That was when she took notice of her new adult height. No longer was she the size of a teenager, but a grown-up. "I'm taller? What on Earth is going on?" Zoey asked. "Huh?" She said, noticing a weird trail of wet foot-prints leading out of the ocean. "What are those? Foot-prints?" From the looks of them, they didn't appear to have been made by a person, as they were webbed feet. What person had webbed feet? Could these tracks have been made by someone wearing diving-flippers who was out here scuba-diving?

Of course not, what person would be out here in the ocean scuba-diving so late at night? No one she knew, that was for certain. But she and her family had just moved here two days ago-going on to three after tonight, so she really didn't know anyone here. Except for Ethan, of course, and maybe Sabrina, but she had just met them today, so they didn't count.

Also, the foot-prints looked too big to have been made by diving-flippers. Her gaze then followed the webbed foot-prints and saw that they led away from the beach and into town.

"They lead straight into town. But...how?" She said. Good question. How? How was that even possible? How was it that a sea creature was able to walk out of the ocean onto dry land and wander into town?

She didn't know what was going on around here, but whatever had come out of the ocean tonight was now wandering the community and somehow she knew that wasn't good. The pink seashell brooch on her chest started glowing again. "What?" She said before disappearing in another flash of pink light.

...

Zoey appeared in an empty parking-lot in a flash of pink light, with her seashell brooch no longer glowing. "Now where am i?" She asked. "A parking-lot? What am i doing here?" The 13-year old girl said as she looked around at the deserted parking area. "Huh?" She said, noticing the same trail of webbed foot-prints going past her. "The same foot-prints from the beach. What are they doing here?" Her gaze then followed the foot-prints, making her turn around, and she saw that they led inside the Mermaid's Cove Mall, it's double-glass-doors ripped off and broken. "Uh-oh. I don't like the looks of this."

The fact that the foot-prints even led into the mall, which was now closed for the night, obviously, and it's doors had been torn off and broken only meant one thing: Someone had broken in. Or in this case, some THING. Whatever had walked out of the ocean and into town was now inside the mall. For what reason, she didn't know. Could some burglar have broken into the mall tonight? Highly unlikely. What burglar came out of the ocean at night to rob a store? What burglar had webbed feet? Was it possible that this person had been hiding out in the ocean in some submarine and was wearing a different brand of diving-flippers with their diving-suit when they came ashore? Probably.

Still, though, that didn't explain why she was here...or why she was wearing this strange outfit...or why she was now instant adult size. What did any of this have to do with her? Was she suppose to...stop this? Where did that come from? She was a 13-year old girl, not a police officer. She couldn't stop a break-in even if she tried. She should just go back home and let the cops handle this, as she was sure the doors being ripped off had triggered the alarm and alerted the authorities. They were probably on their way here right now to handle the situation, 'cause there was no in lands she could, that was for certain. But she had to try.

Wasting no more time, Zoey ran towards the mall, following the foot-prints, and rushed inside the building through the now doorless doorway to investigate the matter.

Inside, Zoey followed the trail of foot-prints while running through the mall, determined to find the source of who or what made them. "No tellin' where this'll lead me." She thought. She didn't know why...but somehow she knew the cops would be of no help in this situation.

...

Inside the dark jewelry store, the mysterious great fish let out low growls while filling a sack with jewels it was getting out of one of the glass display counters it had broken into. The sea creature managed to sneak through town and get here to this place without being spotted by any humans and had been successful in getting inside. Aside from that loud siren that went off after if had ripped the doors off, the break-in had been rather easy, with no difficulties of any kind. This was the easiest heist in robbery history.

"Hold it right there, you jewel theif!" Came a female voice from behind.

The mysterious sea creature turned to see Zoey standing in the entrance of the store.

"I don't know who you are or what's going on around here, but it's ending right now!" Said Zoey. "I am the Pink Ranger of the Power Rangers!" She said. "And your heist is over!" She concluded, pointing at the mysterious fish in the dark jewelry store hiding in the darkness.

All was now eerie quiet in the mall as Zoey, now known as the Pink Ranger, and mysterious sea creature stared at each other like two gun-men in an old western film.

"Did you hear me?!" Pink Ranger asked. "I said hold it! Are you even listening to me?!"

Again, the sea creature didn't respond or move.

"What are you doing here?!" Pink Ranger demanded. "Are you robbing the mall?!"

Still no reply or movement from the sea creature.

Truth be known, Pink Ranger didn't like talking to this strange guy, as it made her feel uncomfortable. But she had to know what was going on before she could do anything to stop it. Like, who was this person? Why were they doing this? What did they gain from breaking into the mall and robbing it's jewelry store?

"HELLO?" Pink Ranger called, attempting to get the mysterious figure to respond and acknowledge her presence, to no avail. "If you think the quiet game will make me go away, you are mistaken! I'm not going anywhere!"

The mysterious figure came out of the darkness...revealing itself.

"Jumpin' jellyfish." Pink Ranger called, baffled and stunned. In that moment she couldn't comprehend what she was seeing. For standing in the store in front of her was something that went against normal, reality and the laws of nature.

Standing in the jewelry store was a shark with arms, legs, webbed hands and webbed feet. It held in it's right hand a white stuffed sack. Filled with many of the store's jewels, no doubt. The creature wasn't flopping around from lack of water at all. It's dark eyes looked directly at the Pink Ranger. And then it charged forward.

Pink Ranger stumbled backwards, staggering from shock and fear and fell to the floor on her back.

The shark creature charged up to her, it's face a complete blank, void of any emotion. The sea monster then noticed the pink seashell brooch on the chest of Pink Ranger's outfit and reached down for it with it's left hand.

"Huh!" Pink Ranger said as she kicked the shark monster in the stomach with her right foot, making it let out a loud ROAR in pain as it dropped the sack, spilling many of the jewels inside, which were all rings.

The roar sound of the shark was truly deafening. So much so that it made Pink Ranger want to cover her ears. Had she not been wearing this helmet that was covering her whole head, she would have. Taking the moment to seize the opportunity, she jumped up off the floor and onto her feet, followed by kicking the ocean apex predator in the stomach again, this time with her left foot. She then kicked the shark's legs out from under it with her right foot in a flash of pink light, knocking it onto the floor.

The predator of the deep pulled itself up, staggering from the blows it had received from Pink Ranger.

The pink super-hero was in a fighting position, both her fists held up. "Why don't you take that ridiculous costume off and face me like a human being?" She said, reminding herself of her previous thoughts outside the mall earlier. Golly, had that really only been a few minutes ago? It felt like hours. The mall's double-doors ripped off, breaking into the building in the middle of the night when it was closed, the stolen jewelry in the sack? This had to be a criminal in a costume, hiding their identity.

That had to be it. 'Cause what shark had arms and legs and could walk on land? What shark could roar, they had no vocal cords. And further more, what shark would break into a mall and steal a bunch of jewelry? That could never happen, not in real-life. But the question was...how would she stop this foe? She was prepared to keep on fighting the sharkman for as long as she could, but didn't know how to bring this battle to it's conclusion.

She supposed she could keep on fighting him until the cops arrived here to arrest him...or at least until he tired out from the fight. If this was a person in a costume, and it very likely was, then it would only be a matter of time before they got tired from fighting and called it quits or collapsed from exhaustion. People tended to get hot in costumes, especially when they had to move around in them a lot. They also got hot and tired from fighting. This situation should be no different. Surely no person could keep on brawling without getting worn out, that wasn't normal. This person had to at least be started to sweat in this thing by now, right? Although it hadn't thrown any punches or kicks yet, she knew it was ready to attack again.

The predatory fish lunged at Pink Ranger in a blue jet of water that formed around it, locking it's arm around her waist, and they crashed through a display window of another store, the jet of water disappearing afterwards.

Pink Ranger, now soaking wet, punched the shark in the nose with her right fist, sending it flying out of the broken window and onto the floor at the jewelry store's entrance. She stood up in the display window, shards of glass falling off of her. "Okay. Maybe you're not some crook in a costume." She said. No human could do what this creature just did. Sure, there was the possibility of special effects, like holographic projection, but...she knew it wasn't so because she had gotten wet when the shark had tackled her while enveloped in the water. That left only the horrific realization: This wasn't a person in a costume. This sea monster was real. As real as she was.

The sharkman growled as it stood up before snarling at Pink Ranger.

"Bring it." Pink Ranger said.

The shark snarled again before charging forward, followed by Pink Ranger charging forward out of the window. They ran up to each other and began exchanging blows.

Pink Ranger kicked the shark in the stomach with her left foot, followed by it backhanding her across the face with it's right hand before pushing her, followed by knocking her legs out from under her with a swing of it's tail, sending her falling to the floor on her back. She quickly jumped up off the floor, landing on her feet once again, and went back to fighting the shark, throwing more punches at it.

The shark pushed Pink Ranger again, then it fired water out of it's mouth, spraying her in the face, followed by shooting bubbles out of it's mouth at her, hitting her, creating sparks and white smoke as they popped on impact, knocking her to the floor once again. The big fish started making it's way toward the now injured hero.

"Ohh. Ohhh." Pink Ranger groaned in pain. A shadow then came over her. Sensing movement, she looked to see the shark monster towering over her, realishing in her loss and it's victory.

The shark slowly reached down with it's right hand for the seashell pendant on the chest of Pink Ranger's outfit to claim it as it's own when suddenly the sound of police car sirens interrupted it. Realizing it could stick around any longer, the shark shot Pink Ranger an angry glare, growling before disappearing in a flash of a whirlpool.

Pink Ranger slowly stood up, staggering to her feet. "What just happened?" She asked herself.

"HEY, YOU!" Came a male voice.

Pink Ranger looked and saw two running police officers, a man and a woman, heading her way.

"FREEZE!" Said the male officer as he and the female officer ran towards Pink Ranger.

"Uh-Oh. I better get out of here." Pink Ranger said before she turned and ran off. Getting arrested was not on her list of things to do in the year 2000 and neither was going to prison for a crime she didn't commit.

"Holt! Stay where you are!" The female officer shouted.

"Yeah, that'll happen." Pink Ranger thought as she ran through the mall. Her seashell brooch started glowing pink again, which she took notice of, stopping in her tracks, then she vanished in a flash of pink light, gone in a flash. Literally.

The two officers stopped in their tracks where the spilled sack of rings was.

"What on Earth was that?" The male officer asked.

"I don't know, but..." The female officer began. "we need to call this in ASAP." She finished, pointing with her right index-finger at the sack of spilled rings on the floor.

"How do you put this in a report?" The male officer asked. What in the world had gone on here tonight?

...

In a flash of pink light, Zoey appeared in her dark bedroom, back in her slep-clothes and 13-year old size, with her pink seashell brooch clipped to the neckline of her shirt, no longer glowing. "Huh?" She said, confused, as she around to see she was back in her room. "I'm back. I'm back home." The blond said. She then looked down at herself and saw that she was back to her normal teenage-form, height included. Gone was her pink costume. "And i'm back to normal." She said. "But...how? How did all that happen? Was i dreaming?" She asked herself. Had that just been the most insane dream of all time? That couldn't have been real, could it?

Of course not.

Super-powered objects, super-heroes, sea monsters? Those things weren't real, they only existed in comic-books and sea-tale stories...not in the real world, thank goodness. For the sea monster part at least. The other two wouldn't be so bad. Super-powered objects and super-heroes in real-life would be amazing. Being a super-hero herself would be amazing...but it came with it's downsides. She would have to keep her identity a secret from everyone. Even her own family.

Wait.

Her parents!

How much time had passed? How long had she been gone? Did her parents know? Had one of them come up to check on her, only to find she wasn't here? Had her brother come up and found her gone and told them? No. Dustin wouldn't do that. Not the check on her part, he had never come up to check on her in the past. But she wouldn't put it past him to snitch on her to their parents and get her in trouble. He had never done it before, but there was a first for everything, especially now, since the world was in the first year of the 21st century.

But if her parents knew she had been gone, wouldn't they have waited up for her to read her the riot act about how worried they were or called the police and responded her missing? After all, that was what most parents did in this situation, wasn't it? However, she sensed that not to be so under these circumstances. Her parents were not up waiting for her, they were still in bed asleep and so was her brother.

Having had enough excitement for one night, Zoey returned to bed...pulled the covers over her head...and did her best to go back to sleep.

...

January 4th

The next morning, Zoey sat quietly at the dinner-table, dressed for her second day of junior high-wearing her now pink seashell brooch on the neckline of her shirt, her hair in the same short double pony-tail style it was in yesterday, eating breakfast, which was a gray plastic bowl of oatmeal-with a glass of orange juice on the right.

Dustin sat beside Zoey on her right, also dressed for school and eating a plastic gray bowl of oatmeal-with a glass of orange juice on the right.

Yvonna sat at the head of the table, dressed for work, eating a waffle on a white plate, with syrup on it and a glass of orange juice on the right.

Xavier sat at the end of the table, dressed for work as well, eating a white plate of three pancakes with syrup.

The blue mini-TV on the counter was on, but the family wasn't watching it.

Aside from greeting her Mom good morning like always, Zoey hadn't spoken a single word since she'd come downstairs for breakfast. Truth be known, she wasn't really hungry. The only reason she was eating was because she didn't want to arouse suspicion from her parents...which seemed to be working.

"You're awful quite this morning." Xavier said, noticing Zoey's silence.

"I, uh...i guess i'm not very talkative." Zoey said.

"You know...it's probably none of my business, but...Dad has a point. You're very quiet this morning, even for you. What happened last night?" Dustin said suspiciously.

Zoey's nerves began to rattle. It was obviously out of the question on whether or not her parents knew about her un-willful sneaking out of the house last night, 'cause clearly they didn't. But what if Dustin knew? Had he come up to her room last night to find her gone and was now dropping suttle hints that he knew, as if baiting her to spill everything? Would he tell their parents? "Well, if you must know, nosey...i was dreaming." She said, having convinced herself that what had happened last night was just a bad dream and nothing more. That had to be what it was, since she'd sustained no soreness or bruising from all those blows she took from that shark monster. The only thing that felt real...really, really real...was the fact that the pale pink brooch was now a regular shade of pink, like it had been in her dream. How her family hadn't noticed the change in it's color was a mystery to her.

"What about?" Yvonna asked.

"I don't know, it was too strange and weird for me to tell." Zoey said.

"Too weird and strange even for you? Must've been some dream." Dustin said.

"Hey!" Yvonna and Xavier scolded.

"No, no, it's okay. For once he's right for a change. It was too weird and strange for me. And kind of scary, to be honest. So if it's alright with you guys, i'd rather just not talk about it." Zoey said to her parents. Although 'kind of scary' was putting it mildly.

"Of course, dear. We understand." Yvonna said to Zoey. "Don't we honey?" She asked Xavier.

"Yeah, totally. Discussion closed." Xavier agreed.

"Thank you." Zoey said. "(Sighs) Thank goodness." She thought.

"And now here's Breaking News from last night's events." Came a male voice.

The Moana family stopped eating their breakfast and looked at the blue mini-TV resting on the counter, which showed two anchor-women sitting at a desk, one white and the other black.

/

"On Channel 7 News this morning, crime scene footage surrounds the outside and inside of Mermaid's Cove Mall." Said the white anchor-woman on screen.

"Last night, someone dressed in a shark monster costume broke into the mall and attempted to rob the jewelry store and wound up fighting against another person in a costume that showed up and interrupted the robbery. M.C. reporter, Lindsey Courtland, live outside the mall now, with more on the two suspected jewel thieves. Over to you, Lindsey." The black anchor-woman added.

The scene changed the female News reporter standing outside the Mermaid's Cove Mall, holding a wireless microphone with her right hand, with her name 'LINDSEY COURTLAND' on a white banner at the bottom of the screen.

"Hello, Lana and Regine, good morning." The reporter known as Lindsey greeted. "Police are looking for the two costumed people who they believe attempted to rob the mall's jewelry store last night. Unfortunately, their heads were covered, so we just don't have a good description of them as of them as that search continues right now, but one thing is for certain. One of the robbers is, in fact, female. But i wanna let you know that of course there are a lot of cameras in the areas, especially here in Mermaid's Cove Mall. In the parking-lot, there are cameras outside of business.

So hopefully that'll help track down the two that they're looking for. We know the break-in and the attempted robbery happened sometime last night and that's according to the two police officers who showed up here at that time. They tell us that two people dressed in costumes were trying to rob the jewelry store when they arrived at the scene. One of the robbers--the one in pink--was standing in the middle of the mall and a sack containing multiple rings from the jewelry store was lying on the floor, with many of them spilled out.

They then say the robber in pink took off running, followed by disappearing in a flash of pink light. That's right. Disappearing. I wouldn't have believed it myself if we didn't have it on film. Meanwhile, the two robbers responsible for this attempted robbery took off and are likely on the run right now, leaving some neighbors un-easy.

The scene then changed to a 20-year old female citizen.

"I'm shocked, but i'm also kind of scared because i park kind of far and i have to walk alone at night time by myself and this is just scary...the fact that it's so close to home. And it's been so often as frightening." The 20-year old girl explained.

The scene cut back to Lindsey.

"It's the first crime in Mermaid's Cove we've reported on this year. You'll remember the Mermaid's Cove Bank robbery attempt in June of last year. 19-Year old Penny Kate, who was visiting her parents from New York City while college was out for the summer, was one of the many people inside who was held hostage by the robber, but was rescued along with everyone else-with the robber being arrested shortly after, and thankfully no one was hurt. Again, thankfully, last night's events were caught on camera at the mall as the search for the two costumed jewel thieves continues. Reporting live, i'm Lindsey Courtland, for today in Mermaid's Cove."

The scene changed back to the two anchor-women known as Lana and Regine.

"Lindsey, thank you for that." Lana, the white woman, said. "We'll be right back with more News after these messages."

/

"Well, there's something you don't hear about everyday. Costumed criminals robbing a jewelry store." Xavier said.

"Yeah, and it happened at the mall too." Yvonna added. "Wasn't that where you and your new friend, Sabrina, went yesterday after school?" She asked Zoey.

"Yeah. We even went to the jewelry store that got robbed." Zoey answered, looking stunned, her eyes glued to the TV.

"Attempted robbery." Dustin corrected.

"Yeah. Yeah, that." Zoey said, not taking her eyes off the TV. Her dream about the shark monster at the mall on the News? Now she was scared. Even more-so afraid now than she was last night after waking up from her dream of her ordeal at the mall...which she now knew was frighteningly real. She hadn't woken up from a bad dream last night because she hadn't been asleep then. Her experience at the mall was real...not a nightmare she had lived inside her head. It was real. The super-powered brooch was real. The break-in at the mall was real. The shark monster, HE was real. The News had certainly just proven that. She was as awake then as she was now. And yet somehow, despite the horrific events of last night, she knew that there was more to come.

Little did she know how right she was.

Saban(c) 2000

Next: Black Panther Ranger.

Well, what do you think so far? Is it good, is it great, is it wonderful, is it awesome or all of the above? I hope you liked it. I hope it had those childhood nostalgic vibes. I want to give it that 2000s feels. Year 2000 feels, to be exact. I want this series to scream 2000s. I want PR fans to have that "I feel like i'm a kid again sitting in front of the TV, watching Power Rangers, after getting home from school for the day" nostalgia. Ironically, it's kind of fitting for this series to be coming out now, since school just started back last month. And even though this is only the first episode of this series, i hope i was successful.

I apologize for this episode not revealing too much, but i wanted to do something different. Something the PR franchise has never done before. Don't get me wrong, i love the Power Rangers franchise, i really do. But they always revealed too much in the first episodes, they always un-veiled the WHOLE plot of each series in the first ep. Who the villains are, who the mentors are, who all the Rangers are, as well as the enemy's motives. So i decided to reveal as little as possible in this first episode to leave the fans in suspense to keep them interested. I hope i succeeded.

It is not the whole story yet. We are only in the first season of this mysterious, wonderful series, so try to keep up. Now that the first episode has premiered, the series is only going to take off from here, with NO commercial interruptions. So if i were you, i would stay tuned in as often as i can.

Also, "Black Panther Ranger" will not be in this season. Even though it will be connected to this series, it will not be listed as the second episode. It will be a spin-off. A one-shot episode, to be percise. See you there.

Please review.
