CHAPTER 8

Cesca was debating on whether to tell Jade the full truth or to make up a lie about her situation, but decided she would tell her the truth. Jade was one of Cesca's best friends and she knew she could trust her. Not only that but Jade has been in a similar situation so she is more likely to understand.

"Jade, what I'm about to tell you … You've got to promise that you won't tell anyone at all"

"Off course I won't, I promise"

"Right well Jonah is actually one of my students in my A Level Spanish class at Waterloo Road and we're here at Disneyland on a school trip"

"Oh Ces what have you got yourself into"

"He's 18 and this only started after he was 18 so it's not illegal but it is against school rules so we have to be careful"

"Ces you know I can't judge you after all I've been through a similar thing so I understand"

"Thank you … This has been so hard. It first started on the first day of term back in January when a pupil brought their aggressive dog into my classroom to scare another pupil … He let go of the dog and it came running over and jumped up and attacked me … Jonah was my saviour and tore the dog off me and took me outside and held me close while I was crying … That was when we first realised that we both had feelings for each other but we tried so hard to fight them because we knew that it wasn't right I even went out with another member of staff to try and distract myself but after 6 weeks I couldn't do it anymore"

"I remember the feeling well"

"I didn't mean for it to happen but I've really fallen in love with him and now we're having a baby"

"How are you both feeling about it because it obviously happened quite quickly?"

"At first when I found out I was absolutely devastated I didn't know what to do, we'd only been together a few weeks. Jonah had suggested that we go away for the weekend as it was the beginning of the half term holiday to get away from everyone. We'd only been together properly just over a week and that was when I fell pregnant. I couldn't believe that was when I conceived because that was the only time we had used contraception out of the three times … I was really scared to tell Jonah because I didn't know how he would react, I mean he's only 18 and I'm sure a baby wasn't a part of his plan just yet. Anyway he took it really well and was really excited about the fact he was gonna be a dad. Jonah really wanted it. However, when he got really drunk at a party that day it reminded me it was never going to work. We didn't speak to each other for nearly 2 weeks. I went to the abortion clinic but when I got a message from Jonah I realised I couldn't do it I loved him to much and I realised that he really did want this baby and he really wanted to be with me"

"Although this has happened a lot quicker than you were hoping or expecting you are both embracing it and taking it so well and it doesn't take an idiot to see how much you both love each other"

"Even though I wasn't ready for this to happen I believe that everything happens for a reason so this baby has been given to us for a purpose and I couldn't be more excited for this baby"

"How's your morning sickness?"

"I had a sickly feeling for a couple of weeks but the sickness only started on Wednesday … It's been so bad I'm throwing up all the time and not getting much sleep"

"How did you explain it to everyone from school?"

"I told Chris, who is our Deputy Head, that I had really bad travel sickness and he believed me … And quite strangely Chris kept asking Jonah to look after me so it was like he wanted us to spend time together … As well as that Chris put us in the same group together and coincidentally our rooms are conjoined and we are all alone on the top floor"

"Ahh well that means that you can spend more time together"

"Yeah it does and I told Chris tonight that I was pregnant because I couldn't blame it on travel sickness all week … I told him that Jonah knew as well because I had had to tell him on the journey and he never said anything more on the matter"

"At least that's one less thing you have to worry about this week"

"Yeah … I'm really looking forward to this trip because I haven't been back since I moved back to England nearly 3 years ago … I can't wait to see everyone"
