This story picks up where The Ones Who Live left off with a focus on what happens immediately after. This is my idea of how the Grimes family is adjusting in those first few days.

After three months on the road from Georgia to Virginia, the large family is welcomed in Alexandria. Spring is in full swing, and tension is building up between Rick and Michonne as everyone is trying to adjust. It won't go unnoticed by attentive eyes; however, they try to make the most of their circumstances.

Carol and Sophia flee their home after an incident with Ed. They land in the a small town 2 months before the zombie outbreak. There, Sophia befriends Merle's daughter, Bonnie Dixon, and her and Carol get caught up in the Dixon family. Daryl and Carol find their way to each other right as the outbreak begins, and they have to fight to save themselves as well as their family.

The world has ended, the dead now walk. Shane Walsh and Travis Manawa must protect their families from these new threats and learn to work with the group that they now must survive with as Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle learn that they may not be alone in this new world. Will these strangers learn to love and trust each other to survive in this new world?

Daryl and Morgan head back to Virginia with their new family. The two men must reunite with their friends and show them the men they have become and help their new and old family get to know each other and deal with new problems as they arise as they build their new home and try to save as many people as possible. Trust, will, and love will be put to the test as they return home.

Watching the series again back in late 2022, I was reminded how much Sophia's arc in the TV show depressed me.
