Notes

This is a story based on the Game of Thrones books and TV series, but be warned, it's a very AU (Alternate Universe) story. If you're someone who doesn't enjoy a story that deviates a lot from canon, where certain characters may act out of character, or if you're not a fan of romance with a good amount of fluff, and a story that ultimately has a happy ending, then this may not be the right story for you.

Chapter 4: A new age

The rumors that were spread by sailors who passed very close to the peninsula spread like wildfire throughout the known world..

The Dothraki, always wary of magic and sorcery, did not know what to make of the rumors about Valyria. Some said it was a lie, while others said that if Valyria were to return, their riders would have to go to war. The Great Stallion was silent on the matter, and the Khals debated what to do if the rumors were true

In the Free Cities, merchants and traders debated the potential impact of Valyria's return on the economy and the balance of power. Some saw it as an opportunity for profit and trade, while others feared the re-emergence of the powerful empire and what it could mean for their own city-states.

In Volantis, the city closest to Valyria, the priests of the Lord of Light began to speak of visions in which the lost city rose from the depths of the sea, with its dragons and powerful sorcerers..

In Lys, the city of beauty and pleasure, the inhabitants shuddered at the strange phenomena that began to occur. people heard haunting laments in the night. Some said it was the city itself crying for its betrayal of the Valyrians. The streets were filled with an eerie silence that only added to the growing sense of unease.

In the Seven Kingdoms, the lords and ladies whispered about the return of dragons, wondering if they would once again reign over the skies and bring about a new era of conquest.

Even in the far-off lands of Yi Ti, the rumors had spread. The Emperor himself had heard of the strange events and consulted his wisest advisors, seeking to understand what it could mean for his empire. They spoke of prophecies and ancient legends, warning of a great danger that could threaten all of mankind.

Volantis 284 AC

The meeting between the leaders of the Golden Company and the Volantene triarchy was tense. Jon Connington, the guardian and protector of Aegon and Rhaenys Targaryen, watched the negotiations with a sharp eye. He knew that the sudden appearance of the Valyrian Freehold would have far-reaching consequences, not just in Essos but also in Westeros

As the discussion progressed, it became clear that both the Golden Company and Volantis were eager to establish friendly relations with the Valyrians. The leaders of Volantis acknowledged that, with the sudden appearance of Mother Valyria, Volantis' imperial ambitions as the legitimate successor to Valyria were coming to an end. Meanwhile, the Golden Company saw an opportunity to align themselves with the Valyrians and gain an advantage over their rivals, aware of the empire's potential to alter the balance of power in the region.

Jon Connington, ever the strategist, spoke up. "We must act quickly and decisively. The Valyrians will be seeking information about the current state of the world and the whereabouts of any remaining Targaryen descendants. We must be the first to offer our services and prove our value as allies." He knew that Aegon and Rhaenys, could potentially benefit from an alliance with the Valyrian Freehold. But he also knew that the situation was complex and dangerous.

In a moment of rare unity, the Volantese and Golden Company leaders reached a consensus that Jon Connington, a respected member of the Volantene Triarchy and the commander of the Golden Company, would undertake a perilous diplomatic mission to the Valyrian Freehold. To bolster their case, they decided to bring the Targaryen infants as evidence of their allegiance.

As the weighty task of negotiating with the leaders of the Valyrian Freehold loomed ahead, a member of the Volantene Triarchy with a keen understanding of the gravity of the situation spoke up. They stressed the paramount importance of arming themselves with a vast wealth of knowledge to ensure their success. To this end, they recommended the inclusion of a treasure trove of historical and political books that spanned four centuries in their diplomatic entourage. Furthermore, he proposed that experts in history and politics should join them on their mission to effectively articulate their cause to the leaders of the Valyrian Freehold. The assembled parties recognized the wisdom in this counsel and readily agreed to implement these measures.

The meeting drew to a close with the final agreements in place. "Prepare yourselves," Jon Connington exclaimed, his voice carrying with it an air of urgency and determination. "We depart in one month's time." His words were met with nods of agreement and a sense of purpose filled the room.

Everyone present knew that the success of their mission hinged on their thorough preparation, and they were eager to get to work. The Valyrian Freehold was a formidable power, and they needed to ensure that every detail was attended to in order to present a convincing case. The fate of the Targaryen children, and the future of their cause, rested on their shoulders.

4 months later

As Jon Connington, accompanied by the Targaryen heirs, diplomats, and erudite experts in history and politics embarked on their journey towards the Valyrian Freehold, their hearts were filled with a mix of anticipation and anxiety.

Following an extensive voyage across the sea, when they finally reach the Valyrian peninsula, the sight of the grandeur and magnificence of the city greeted Jon Connington, the commander of the Golden Company, the Volantese Triarch, the Targaryen heirs, and their entourage. Towering obsidian walls and glistening spires of ancient structures loomed before them, creating a sheer scale and majesty that took their breath away. The very air around them pulsed with power and magic, heightening their senses and stirring their emotions. And as they watched the sight of hundreds of dragons soaring through the sky, their amazement only grew stronger, leaving them questioning what awaited them in this mystical land.

As they took in the breathtaking spectacle, Jon Connington was struck with a sense of wonder and trepidation. "Seven hells!" he exclaimed, barely able to contain his awe. "Aegon and his sisters conquered and subdued all of Westeros with just three dragons. But this," he mused, unable to tear his gaze away from the magnificent creatures. "But this," he added, his voice trailing off as he struggled to comprehend the sheer magnitude of the sight before him, "this is something that surpasses all understanding". His gaze remained fixed on the dragons, his mind racing with the possibilities and dangers that lay ahead.
