Pokemon: Blood Curse

Chapter 1: Parts of the Past.

A/N: Hello, my peoples! :D
I bring to you, one of my biggest interests, lol! I've played all the games except Sword and Shield, watched the anime, and used to collect pokemon cards, so I'd say it's about time I start this XD!
Because, I've been a fan of the pokemon series since I was very small and I still am, here I am a full-grown adult so I think I should do this! XD

This fic will not take part in any of the anime plots, I made sure to create a good foundation for this fic so I won't lose heart.

Slow updates! Since I have so many fics now and I want to try and finish my BNHA fic, slow updates are inevitable. XD

A child, who faced a window as tall as six-foot, sat with their legs against their chest and their back to the kitchen. It was a little girl, clad in a cute, blue dress and curly dark brown locks that barely touched her shoulders. The living room's wall was curved and the entire side had those tall windows that exposed the forestry outside.

Gentle rain tapped against the glass as it heavily poured and no lights were on, for her small voice tried to reassure whatever creature stood next to her; invisible to the human eye, creepy to most but full of wonder to the girl. "Don't worry, the lights in the living room don't need to be on," softly spoken, a kind smile was given to the invisible entity and her parents remained in the open kitchen.

The mother and father both stared at the girl. Since there was no divider or walls to separate the rooms, they were able to see what the girl displayed and it seemed to have unsettled them.

"Hehehe, no, I don't think they would like it," giggled the child, as her hazel eyes viewed the invisible creature before they moved to see the forest outside. "Mommy and Daddy think I'm weird... But I'm happy you don't!" A bright smile was given to the entity, despite not looking in its direction, and seemed to be rather cheerful.

"Darling..." mumbled the mother, who leaned toward her husband and whispered. "I think she needs to see a counselor; I'm worried," concern was obvious in her yellow eyes and the Dad simply rubbed the back of his neck, uncertain of the idea.

"I don't know... It might not be a good idea," the Father answered with a sigh escaping, he couldn't stop the frown that formed. In his peripherals he noticed his wife placing her hand over her face and rubbing it, clearly stressed over the whole thing.

"A good idea or not, it's our only idea. We need to find help," With that, the mom walked over to the table in the corner and pulled out her cellphone that was stored away in her purse.

Blue eyes, full of concern, squinted slightly when he heard his wife call a counselor and make an appointment. She's been like this since her last birthday and she just turned seven years old. His thoughts echoed with worry and used his hand to brush back his dark brown hair, strands of it stood up after his fingers combed through it.

"Yes, I would like to make an appointment for Marceline Shade, please," in a low voice, the mother requested and began to fiddle with a strand of her light brown hair. "Tomorrow, if that would be alright," After that, their conversation became faint as the child ignored her and stood up.

Her tiny fingers pressed against the tall window pane and her nose squished, when she did the same to her face. She was supposedly playing with the invisible creature that was somehow on the other side of the glass, for she giggled and clapped at the entity's response.

~~~A year later~~~
"Mommy! Look! Isn't she adorable?!" The child, who was now eight years old, held up a tiny Purrloin with awestruck eyes and listened to the kitten make tiny, playful mews from her own name.
"No- put that pokemon outside!" Strictly demanded the mother who stood in the doorway of the house, a finger pointed outside. Those yellow eyes watched as sadness engulfed the girl's hazel ones and her arms lowered, even the Purrloin's expression fell into disappointment.
"But- Mommy, she's cold... She's shivering and scared!" Tears brimmed those innocent eyes when she hugged the kitty close to try and keep it warm.
"How would you even know that it's a female? You're too young to know that! Now, put her down, before I make you!" Harsh, her voice was, as she stared upon her daughter with disapproval and frowned.
Hesitant, reluctant, any word that could describe how she felt... Marceline nodded and whimpered, she tried hard not to cry. So, with her tiny arms, the baby Purrloin was lifted to her eye level and their gazes connected. Sympathy was evident in those innocent eyes, while the baby mewed out its name to try and comfort her.
Regardless, she had to let her go, and so she did. The kitty was placed on the cold stepping stone that the Autumn air nearly froze over and watched the Purrloin sprint into the woods. I'll come back for her. I'll give her my jacket to sleep in later. Noted the child, in her mind, with sluggish steps towards the front door.
Her lingering gaze remained on the distant pokemon and ignored the harsh tug from her mother when she was yanked into the doorway.
After that, every day of her life, for the past two years she spent visiting the baby Purrloin and providing it berries of all kinds. Scraps from their dinner, fruits she picked from bushes, day after day for a couple of years she nurtured the baby Purrloin and made sure it was well fed.
It took her parents a long time to catch on, as one fateful day they panicked and ran outside in the cold. Their screams and hollers, many calls of her name, through the thick snow they wandered and ventured into the forest nearby. "Marceline!" the mother called out, pure devastation in her yellow eyes as her legs brushed through the frost.
"Marceline!" It was the dad's turn to holler. Both parents slowly made their way through the tall trees and frozen rocks on the ground, trying to keep themselves warm with tightly closed jackets.
It was dark, not a single star in the night, and not a sound to be heard aside from the crisp crunch from the frost beneath their shoes.
However, faint cries made their heads perk up and caused the father to lift his hand as a gesture to halt. Soon they both looked at each other, eyes full of bewilderment and worry, before they ran toward the sound.
Over frosted logs and frozen twigs, the leaped. Eventually, they came across a snow-covered tree, lower branches so thick the ground was still covered in grass.
There in the pallid blanket of cold, laid a curled-up Marceline in her blue and puffy jacket. Shivering, frost coating a lot of her hair and skin, the tiny Purrloin could be heard crying out for help while her head peeked out from the girl's arms.
The poor baby was shaking just as much as the girl but her heart never gave up on calling for someone's aid. The purrloin suddenly stopped her calls when she heard Marceline's parents scream her name, so the kitty's innocent eyes watched them approach.
"Marceline! My baby!" the mother cried tears of relief and knelled into the freezing cold snow. Her arms quickly lifted her daughter's head and turned her so she'd face her, just to see slightly paled lips quivering. "Hunny! Hurry!" As fast as she could, she picked Marceline up with the little Purrloin still in the girl's arms and sprinted the best she could through the thick frost.
"Shit!" Dad swore and took his jacket off to cover his child, he did everything he could to warm her up on their way back home and the hot air he breathed onto her face seemed to help a little.
As they rushed her back inside, which took them a few minutes, the child couldn't even tell what was going on. For she was sunk into a deep slumber and for the first time, a voice kept calling her name over and over.
It wasn't her father's, it wasn't her mothers', or the Purrloin... It was a deep and clear voice, full of authority and concern. Marceline... It spoke, quiet and worried. Marceline! Again, the voice occurred, only a bit more determined and what she saw in her mind was what she believed- was a dream. A tall, white creature, with feet that were as tall as stilts, and a giant, golden ring around its midsection.
Marceline! Harsher, louder, demanding, fierce, it was adamant on waking her, and this time it worked. For the very child's hazel eyes snapped open with a quick gasp and sat up quickly in her bed. There next to her laid the baby Purrloin, curled up under the blanket and slightly on her pillow.
It took her a moment to realize where she was at, her bedroom full of stuffed animals and cute things. When her eyes laid upon the kitty, very slowly the child nestled back into the blanket and did her best not to wake her, she was too awestruck to know that her mom let the pokemon inside. Little did she know, that the Purrloin was saved by a miracle she provided, before passing out in the cold...
Weird dream... I had a dream that I was almost frozen in the snow and then I heard a scary voice calling my name. Why is Purrloin here? Did mom let her in? her thoughts echoed, as her ten year old self stared in awe at the slumbering kitty.
"Mom, Dad... I'm scared," whispered words left her lips before her eyes closed to return to dreamland. She wasn't aware of the Pokemon that peeked open a slit to see the child laying on her side and curling up closer to her. At that moment, she was relieved, happy, and let out a comforting purr that seemed to have eased any kind of distress.
It was a long time since that day, where she tried to save that Pokemon from the freezing cold and nearly risked her own life. Now, far into the woods, afar from any city or town, sat a two-story treehouse that blended in so well with the surrounding forestry and flora.
It was very high from the ground, close to the treetops, and half of the first floor was pretty open. Wooden beams connected from the first platform to the flooring of the second and left a nice, breezy, open space on the side; it was the balcony.
The living room was separate from the balcony, it had nothing but screens all around and only one part of it had a wall that was behind a large, flat, television. There was one door that led to the balcony and it was near a spiral staircase that reached the second floor.
A cozy, woodland kitchen with a bathroom not too far from it and a bedroom to the furthest side of the platform was noticeable. Half of the kitchen had the same kind of screens as the living room, only, it was around the large and round wooden table with its many chairs.
The two-story tree house was small, but cozy and refreshing to see with many branches and leaves surrounding it. Out of the bathroom, a slow close of its door, came Marceline who seemed to be at the age of an adult; for she had grown up quite a lot in terms of body development and height.
Standing at five feet and three inches, with a hand over stomach, she wandered to the kitchen. "Ah... My stomach," she groaned. Her hand kept rubbing it and unease was visible in her hazel hues.
Close to the countertop, she put two, long, leather straps with pouches on the sides onto the surface and opened a small cupboard above her head. Many potions, status heals, and small snacks all littered the shelf inside. Her now contemplative gaze stared at the potions and tiny packets with the status-heals in them, before she reached up.
Four normal potions and one packet of each status recovery were soon taken down and put into a couple of pouches on her straps. One pouch contained potions, while the other one had the packets, so after they were stored inside she wandered to the table nearby and picked up her cellphone.
Three pouches, out of four, was left after her phone was placed inside the third. Over, she leaned, to adjust her black sockets and to pull them up over half of her thighs.
Marceline wore a brown tank top, that showed her curves off nicely and matched her dark brown hair. "It's chilly," A shiver went through her spine when she felt a cool breeze blow in through the screens, that surrounded the table.
A huff of air, after her arms folded, came out and pushed against her long and wavy bangs. "I need my jacket... But- where did I put it?" Mumbling, pondering, her voice was as soft as when she was young but it had a much deeper tone and was quieter.
A quick flash of her memories flooded in for but a moment, when she recalled images of bullies at her old high school ripping up a yellow jacket she wore. Her fingers clenched at the thought, for she couldn't help but think of the bad times when things reminded her of them.
"Mel?! Do you know where my jacket is?!" her head shook to snap herself out of those memories and raised her voice throughout the room.
The sun beamed through the screens and windows around her, as Pidgies and Tailows chirped to the morning air. It's right here! Although to most people, her words would sound like cries of a Liepard, however to Marceline it was as if it were her own language.
Up the spiral staircase, trotted the said Pokemon with a black, baggy jacket dangling over her backside and its hood laid over one of her eyes. When the woman saw her, a smile graced her lips before she walked over.
Just before she could reach her jacket, Mel jumped to the side teasingly with a flailing purple tail and mischief glinting in her eyes. "Haha, funny," Marce giggled and tried to grab the jacket again, which resulted in the feline leaping away.
Determined now, the woman's hezel eyes narrowed with a huff of air pushing against her bangs and smiled. This time, she lunged for the cat but nearly ran face-first into one of the wooden chairs to her kitchen table, if Mel hadn't pulled her back by her tank top in time.
"Ooooohoho, so you wanna play that game, huh?~" Marce knew the liepard since she was small, for they had grown up together almost like sisters and played just as they are now. "I gotta go to the grocery story, Mel. Last night, the news said it was going to rain in the afternoon and I don't want to be caught in it," this time, a pout grew and a bit of annoyance was visible. Even though she was playing with the pokemon, she was also expressing a little bit of seriousness and hoped Mel would listen.
Nope! You need to try and get your jacket from me, then I'll let you go.~ Teased the feline with playfulness sparking in those slits and her tail flailing happily.
"Hahaha, you don't want me to do that.~" Just as playful as her, Marce grinned and her fingers twitched to her sides. More giggles escaped her lips until a quick flash of her high school memories came back again; she was in dodge ball and raced after the lone ball in the corner. Her hand had reached out and it came flying into her hand, which nearly put her into shock.
Everyone in her gym class had frozen in place at the display and Marceline fell onto her butt in utter disbelief. When her attention was pulled back into reality, her hazel hues blinked upon seeing Mel sprinting for the spiral staircase and almost lost the jacket when it nearly fell off.
"Haha, Mel! Nice try!" Her pale hand lifted and reached for the jacket that almost came out of view. At that moment, it flew into her hand and surprised the feline. The woman didn't even know the odd change in her eyes when her power was used, for they turned black with two violet rings in the center; the change returned to normal as soon as it appeared.
Now that she had it, finally, it was swooped around her shoulders and her arms easily slipped into the sleeves. That's not fair, you were supposed to chase me... Disappointed, the Liepard was, as she came back up the stairs and lowered her head sadly.
"I have a long walk ahead of me, I don't think I should be spending my energy running when the walk will do that for me," a sympathetic smile curled up her lips and her hands adjusted the jacket a little. "Can you guard the house while I'm gone, please? I don't want any Aipoms swinging into the balcony and getting in somehow. I'll bring back some sweets, if you'd like," The mention of sweets perked the Liepard's ears up and her head, for the delicious flavor could already be tasted just by the thought of it.
A simple nod was received and a giggle came from Marce in return. "Alright- Well, I better head out now. My wallet's by the front door, right?" she couldn't remember if she left it by the stand near the door or in the bedroom, so her brow lifted confusedly at the cat.
Yes. A smile formed on Mel when her pokemon cries came out and the happiness shone brightly when her eyes closed; she just couldn't wait for those sweets.
"Okay! I'll see you later then, please be safe," Marceline walked over to the cat and knelled down so she could give her best friend a hug. Now, she wandered down the staircase, with Mel following her through the treehouse and to the front door.
On the small stand sat a dark brown wallet and some money poked out from the sides, before she took it and stuffed it into the last available pouch. "I'll be back, Mel," A reassuring smile spread on her face, and a gleeful aura about her, brightened whatever darkness Mel had during that moment and made her feel relieved. For the cat even grinned happily and sat with expectation in her eyes.
Outside now, Marce jumped down off of the edge of the balcony where there was no railing unlike the rest of it and held onto a thick rope on her way. It was quite the distance from there to the ground but she landed gently, nonetheless, thanks to the rope.
A minute or two, the woman stood there and kept that grin plastered, however... It soon fell into a frown and the once, beaming aura she had, died the second she was alone and stared upon the make-shift path through the forest.
Mom... I'm grateful you let Mel stay with me and be my friend growing up, but... her thoughts trailed off, for her heart clenched at a memory that came back to her. Why did you say that to me? saddened, her eyes were now full of depression and pain. However, they blinked and she forced herself to snap out of whatever trance she fell into. Her attention remained on the path and it wasn't long until recognition hit her. "Ah, my sho-!" Marce nearly panicked over the fact that she was in her socks, but jumped when something hard landed on her head and made her step back.
There, on the ground, laid simple, black sneakers with brown Velcro straps that it the ground and a cry above her head caught her attention; her eyes looked up to see Mel pawing at her and she couldn't help but giggle. An appreciative smile and a wave of her hand was given to her friend, before the cat left her view.
I don't know what I'd do without Mel, she's awesome. That kind smile returned and relief filled her eyes, soon she finally chose to move on. After her sneakers were put on, she traveled the long path past many trees and ignored some small pokemon that watched her pass by. Living in the forest is much better for me, anyway. No one to judge you, no one to hate you and you get to avoid a lot of drama. Her thoughts echoed as her attention focused on the treetops above her, watching Aipoms, and some bug pokemon trek the branches. A soft smile played at her lips once more, for the peace was quite soothing and refreshing.
This time, the hood of her jacket, that was outlined with yellow around the rims, was pulled over her head and left her long locks to dangle over one shoulder. "Groceries, groceries... I need a lot," a sigh, Marce wasn't really looking forward to shopping but she had no choice, the cupboards were practically empty at home.
As the view of her backside appeared, many pokemon from the nearby bushes behind her, poked their heads out and muttered quietly to themselves.
