Pokemon: Blood Curse!
Chapter 10: Drowned!
Through the sky, soared the brunette with her Psychic power. It took some time to get ready in the morning since she had to make breakfast and get herself dressed. In her arms, Mel shivered with fear at the sight of the distant land beneath them. Comical white eyes with her tail curled and between her legs, her paws clung tightly to the brunette's clothed arms. "M- Mel, I haven't held or picked up in ages! I didn't realize you were actually this heavy! You need to lay off the sweets!" The weight she had to carry across the sky for a long time now made it difficult. She could feel her muscles ache and struggle to stay wrapped around the feline.
Hornet, on the other hand, easily flew alongside her, with various items stuffed in leftover grocery bags from the last time she shopped. He was too focused on keeping his arms through the loops to be sure the bags won't slip off and that nothing fell out; nervous beads of sweat trickled down his insect head all the while.
Marce, are you insinuating that I've gained weight? I'll have you know- I hunt every night and I stay active! Rather insulted, with a huff, Mel growled angrily. Her round ears flattened at her words and faintly embarrassed tints covered her snout.
"Pft- haha.~" Even though the brunette struggled to keep her hold on the cat, an amused giggle managed to slip out. However, a comical scream filled everyone's ears and made the woman's hazel hues curiously blink. "Do you hear that? Hornet, can you tell where it's coming from?" Confused, the brunette was, for she glanced at the bug pokemon and saw how he looked to his other side over his shoulder. "Hm?" Copying Beedrill she did the same and spotted Meigu being carried by a Togekiss on its back.
His strong hands kept a tight grip on the flying mon after it caught up and flew happily alongside the brunette. "Togekiiiiss! Slow down!" Comical tears flew behind him when he screamed, he hasn't noticed the woman next to him and tried his best to hold onto the six pokeballs around his belt.
He wore different clothing this time, a white Martial Arts Gi with a black belt around his waist and his usual low ponytail. On his feet, which were currently pressed against the mon's backside, wore tight black sandals. His hysterical scream was enough to make the brunette to his side giggle, which seemed to have caught his ears.
To the side, his brown hues peeked at the flying woman and for a moment, he felt himself drift into a daze at the sight. Her long, wavy, brown hair flowed with the harsh winds from her speed and her lively smile which she believed he couldn't see, brought a light to her usual shy features. Her black and violet eyes were beautiful to him, the buff man couldn't break his gaze from the woman and nearly forgot that he was still on Togekiss. Those pink tints on his cheeks only proved his flustered and awestruck heart.
"Huh?" This time it was her turn to peek at him. Her colored hues blinked curiously but when she caught him staring at her, she couldn't help to feel her heart skip and her cheeks burn. Quickly, despite the struggle she had with carrying Liepard, those black and violet eyes looked everywhere else but him. "H- Hey, Meigu!" a faint, shy smile graced her lips after the brunette greeted him. It was difficult to hide her embarrassed red cheeks and keep her focus on her flight. "I didn't know you had a Flying-type pokemon," Nervous, she was, never in her life had she met someone who would stare at her like he is now, and to say the least, it began to feel a bit awkward.
"Ah- No, no, this isn't my pokemon! Togekiss is just giving me a ride. A friend of mine said she'd let me ride on her pokemon whenever I need to get around. This is going to take some getting used to!" For dear life he continued to cling to the pokemon and looked ahead, he dared not to look down lest vomit escapes or he'd feel like he'd fall.
"So, I'm guessing- you wanted to use Togekiss to fly with me?" Marceline felt a little worried that she might've sounded a little self-centered, so she opened her lips to speak again, in hopes of fixing it but his laughter made her words stay in.
"Haha, yeah actually! I knew you were going to head out early, so I thought I'd meet you there at the mountain and surprise you! Oh- and by the way! Togekiss is pretty strong, her trainer built her up to be capable of carrying two people at once. Do you want her to carry your friend too?" Matsuo offered with his hand patting behind him, which earned him a gleeful poke' chirp from the mon he rode; slowly but surely, he was beginning to get used to it.
Having the brunette next to him made enough relief in his mind to override the fear of falling off, it was even distracting him from Hornet who he didn't notice was near him.
"M- Mel, is that alright?" Through a struggling breath, the woman questioned, and glanced down at the feline. The feel of her paws holding onto her arms, as though her life depended on it, made a tiny wince escape her lips.
Yes, I would like that! Please, anything would be better than this right now! Comically screaming, hysterical tears cascaded down her furry face. It wasn't long until she felt herself shift from her friends' movements, Marce's arms moved so the cat could leap onto Tokekiss's back and made sure she was close enough for her to land safely. Thank you. With a sigh of relief, nervous sweat trickled down her head after she spoke in her poke' language.
"Yeah, no problem Mel. My arms are screaming... I think I need to start... Working out I guess," Embarrassed, she was, for not having enough strength to even carry her friend across the ocean. It felt good to let Liepard sit on the flying mon, her muscles ached from exhaustion, and used her hands to rub at their soreness. "Hey, Hornet, want me to carry those now? We can take turns so your arms won't hurt," Her pale hands were open to the bug pokemon who turned his head and stared at her for the longest time.
However, she was taken aback when he moved an inch away from her and returned his red hues back to the distant mountain beyond the ocean. I can handle this! Let me carry these for you the whole way! Determined, he was, he knew Marce was still training her Psychic power to keep her in the air and it was hard to ignore how much she struggled in her flight with Mel in her arms.
"W- What? Hornet, come on! I can still carry the lighter ba-" Pain, in her head, stung, and with a wince, the woman's fingers dug into her hair and clenched tightly onto her scalp. It happened again, she had to close her eyes in order to try and focus more on her flying but it only seemed to worsen the sensation. "G- Guys-!" Through gritted teeth and a ring in her ears, those struggled words, reached everyone before she descended toward the deep waters.
"Maceline!" Matsuo's scream was enough to startle Hornet and Mel. Liepard's and Beedrill's fearful pokemon cries soon followed after the buff man's, although, the bug pokemon was the first to take action. With haste, he put the bags on Togekiss, and soared after his friend with his stingers out in hopes of snagging her hoodie. However, by an inch, he missed and saw her splash into the ocean.
There was no hesitation, his fear of heights faded away the second his heart moved him. Matsuo removed his pokeballs, laid them on top of Togekiss, and decided to take a dive with his hands in front. All seriousness made his brows knit together before, he too, made an impressive splash.
Marceline struggled to swim, never in her life had she learned to do so and bubbles of air escaped her lips the more she fought against the water. Help! Her hands gripped her throat and clenched her chest, as her thoughts begged the further she sunk. Someone... It hurts... This time with a weak effort to lift a hand toward the sun, which she could see beaming at the top, her vision gradually began to form spots.
More and more spots started to fill her eyes, but one particular silhouette just in the center of the sun's bright light grew closer the more her eyes closed. Only a flash of red was the last thing she saw before she blacked out.
Meigu pointed at her unconscious form as his brown hues strictly bore into a circular pokemon's large, round eyes, and not long after did he swim toward her. The pokemon did the same, it grasped its owner's wrist and helped him swim faster to reach her.
Seconds turned into minutes, Mel and Hornet both were tempted to lunge in themselves but knew they'd never make it back to the surface. Don't worry! That cheerful, happy, feminine voice perked both of their heads up, and stared at Togekiss who gave them the most reassuring smile. The human won't let her drown. Be at ease! Her adorable mouth curled up more at that. It seems her words have eased some anxiety in the two other pokemon, despite that, they refused to sit back and chill.
Marce... Please come back up! Mel's poke' language resonated when she laid down on her stomach and lowered her head in hopes of a better view.
Marceline! Marceline! Marceline! I'll dive in if you don't surface! Hornet knew he wouldn't be able to swim. The stingers on his arms clearly weren't made for it, but his heart wanted nothing more than to save her and that alone made him rapidly fly around in circles, above the water.
One bubble, two, then three, all three pokemon looked in the said direction. When a Poliwrath's head surfaced, there on its back was Matsuo with one arm keeping the brunette pressed against him for support. Everyone cheered out their pokemon language above, incredibly relieved and thankful that they hadn't drowned.
"Marce... Hey-" Through heavy breaths, as they floated there on top of his Poliwrath, his strong hand gave her a subtle shake to her shoulder and pure worry shone in his brown eyes. The gentle sounds of the waves and faint sloshes resonated through the air; despite that, he couldn't take his attention off of her. "She's not waking!" His quiet words whisper-yelled the moment he noticed that her breaths weren't there.
There weren't any slight movements of her chest, so he inched his hand closer to her nose and mouth to feel for air, however... There was none. His head shot up toward Togekiss and the other mons with the most deadly-serious expression he's ever put on, to give them the idea that something was wrong. "Everyone! Hurry to the Mountain! Poliwrath and I need to get there as fast as possible! Geyser, take us to land as fast as you can!" With a few quick taps onto Poliwrath's head, the said pokemon wasted no time in the water and sped across it with its highest speed.
Togekiss picked up its flight as well, she flew high above the buff man and kept up with them. Mel, on the other hand, made sure Meigu's pokeballs didn't slide off. Her paws held onto the black belt that they were attached to and just like him, her concern for her best friend replaced the fear of falling.
With how fast they went, it took little time at all to reach the Mountain side and he was relieved to see a small piece of land just a few inches away from it. Once they were close enough, he let go, and with hurried steps, he carried the brunette across the surface.
He didn't want to wait until the others caught up, he got to work immediately and laid her flat on her back. Wide open, her jacket was spread apart, revealing her soaked shirt which he tried hard not to stare too much at. No hesitance, despite his flustered cheeks, he did his best to look past how he felt and pressed his hands on her chest. Pushing, one, two, three, four times before pinching her nose and tilting her head back. "Wake up, Marce," With a nervous gulp he leaned over and pressed his lips on hers to breathe air into her lungs.
He did this for several minutes, tears began to bundle around the edges of his eyes the more he thought about her possibly dying or already dead. "Wake up! Come on!" The fear of losing his friend was pushing him to try harder, the buff man wasn't aware of Mel and the others behind him.
Pure silence was all that resonated in the air, save for the whimpers and whines from Meigu. Mel, Hornet, Togekiss, Torch, and Prince stood quietly in shock at the situation after they came out of their pokeballs. They were all soon accompanied by Mewtwo who flew closer to watch the display, to say he wasn't worried would be a lie.
Fury bubbled up inside of his chest at the sight and the thoughts of someone possibly putting her into that state only made his feelings worsen. Who did this?! His telepathy boomed through Meigu's mind and didn't expect to see the buff man's frustrated expression turn to anger.
"She couldn't fly any further! Her head started to hurt and she couldn't fly anymore, so she fell into the ocean! She never told me she couldn't swim! If you hadn't let her fly by herself to the Mountain without support, she wouldn't be like this!" This time it was Matsuo who burst with anger and bore his brown eyes into purple ones. Blame was being put on the Legendary, all he could think about was how stupid Mewtwo was for making her do that. "She even struggled to carry her friend here! You could've at least kept Mew by her side in case she was about to fall!" Finally, after raging at the Mon, Mewtwo's next words eased his mind a tiny bit.
Yes... I agree. This was my fault, I misjudged her potential, but this was a mere test to see how much control she had so that way I can find where to start training her! Mewtwo stepped closer and their faces were mere inches from each other now. However, what caught their attention and everyone else's was when the brunette coughed up water with a gurgling, gagging breath.
"Marce!" Instantly, his focus was on her, for he kneeled down to her side and supported her head to help let the water out.
Hornet clung to her opposite shoulder in delight and relief, while Mel began licking and bathing her wet face. Torch crouched near her feet to watch, however, Prince was quick to grab the bags Beedrill put on Togekiss and searched through them for some sort of refreshment.
Everyone! Let's get her inside the house... She can rest there. Mewtwo, through telepathy, spoke and turned just slightly to let his gaze linger on her weak state before he walked into the forest's treeline. The buff man didn't even think twice before picking her up into his arms and glancing at the others.
"Thanks, Geyser, for swimming us here. You too, Togekiss! Let's get to the house quickly!" His once angry brown eyes were soon replaced with concern and relief when he gave them all a smile. Deep down he was grateful, happy, that he chose to tag along and use Togekiss as transportation. If he didn't catch up with her, if he didn't think of wanting to surprise her by meeting her at the Mountain first, she would've fallen to her death.
~~~Kuro~~~
Behind a locked door, in a dark room that was as cold as winter, stood Kuro staring at an old T.V that was powered by a ghost and electric type pokemon, Rotom. The news played on the screen as its light flicked blue and other colors into the room.
Red eyes that were indifferent to the creepiness of the room and the T.V that played on its own, thoughts of the brunette in his mind roamed. His toothy frown hardly moved, for he was too much in thought to so much as bat an eye until he spoke. Marceline... I missed you. Do you even remember how much we played together? How much I made you laugh with my antics and pranks. Your horrible parents... Made you so miserable. Have you forgotten about me? Have you forgotten about the one who always made you smile, when you were sad? Pain enveloped his eyes the more he questioned her memory.
In his hand was a cute, paper crane, that had From: Marceline, written in black marker and a tiny heart on top of its head. He recalled sweet memories of when he first encountered Marce. Her tiny frame was playing in the woods alone and a cute moment he remembered was when she leaped into a pile of leaves that were stacked under a tree. He could still hear her adorable giggles and see her innocent smile, even to this day it haunts his mind.
I won't let you slip away from me again... That was his last thought before he wandered toward the window, with still yet, a good hold on the paper crane that he dared not lose. Out the window, he could see the treeline of where the forest to her treehouse, started. The bright sun glared through the pane and made most of his body distort just slightly, which would be nearly unnoticeable to the human eye.
