Sonic and Tails came to in a place that was dark and dank. They were tied up in chairs with their arms bound behind their backs.
Captain Vasquez stepped out from the shadows.
"You two do realize you were flying illegally in Puerto Rican airspace, don't you?" he said, taking a puff from his cigar and blowing the smoke in their faces.
"Sorry," said Sonic, "We won't let it happen again. Can you let us go now?"
"I'm afraid I can't do that…" he said, as approached Sonic and pressed his cigar into his hand.
"Ah!" Sonic cried out in pain. He tried getting up and running away, but he couldn't.
"What have you done to us?" asked Sonic.
"Oh. I've just drugged you so you can't use your powers. Mwa-ha-ha," said Captain Vasquez.
"You bastard…" said Sonic, drooping his head down in defeat.
"Hey, mister," said Tails, "Sorry, we didn't know we were illegally in your air space. Honest mistake."
"Ha," said Captain Vasquez, "How were we supposed to know you guys weren't Russian spies? You're not Russian spies, now, are you?"
"No," said Sonic, shaking his head, "We fucking hate Russia!"
"See, that's something a Russian spy would say…" said Captain Vasquez, stroking his chin.
"But trust us," said Tails, "We hate Pu-tang. Well, I mean, we like putang, but Putin is a son of a bitch!"
Sonic gave Tails a look of disapproval.
"Hmm," said Captain Vasquez, "I should turn you guys into the White House…"
"But you see, the thing is… we're on your guys' side," said Sonic.
"You don't say?" said Captain Vasquez, "Mutant furry freaks."
"We don't like being called that," said Tails.
"What?" said Captain Vasquez, "Mutants? Furries? Freaks?"
"All of the above," said Sonic, "Well anyways, go ahead and call the White House up, for all I care. You'll see we're on your guys' side."
"Very well, then," said Captain Vasquez, "But, see, the thing is… I don't have the number to the White House."
"Can't you just Google it?" said Tails.
"I suppose…" said Captain Vasquez.
He took out his cellphone and started fidgeting around with it. Then he took out a pencil and paper and started writing down a number.
"Hey, Boomer!" shouted Sonic, "You know you can just like, press the number and it will make the call for you, right?"
"Uh…" said Captain Vasquez, "Of course I knew that! What do you think I am, a fossil?"
A few seconds later the phone, which was on speaker phone, emitted the dial tone.
"You've reached the White House," a woman's pre-recorded voice message said, "Our visiting hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. To buy tickets, press 1. For something else, press 2."
Captain Vasquez pressed 2.
"We're sorry, all operators are busy at this time. Please try again at a later time," the woman said.
"Let me talk to the president," said Captain Vasquez.
Then the busy line signal played.
"God dammit! Dios mio!" said Captain Vasquez as he threw his phone on the ground and it shattered into a million pieces.
"Whoa, man," said Sonic, "Cool your jets."
"You don't know what my life is like!" said Captain Vasquez said, starting to break down and cry, "Always having to report to the US government, but not being treated with respect as a state in our own right!"
"We're sorry about that," said Tails, "Hey, I have an idea! Why don't you let us go and we can try and make Puerto Rico a state?"
"Hmm…" said Captain Vasquez, calming down, "You think you could do that?"
"Why, of course!" said Tails.
Sonic gave Tails another look of disapproval.
"Why, yes, we sure can…" said Sonic, deciding to play along.
"Very well, then," said Captain Vasquez, untying their binds, "But I want this in writing."
"Too late!" said Sonic, as he started running away, grabbing Tails by his tails.
Sonic was much slower than normal. The drugs were still in his system and made him lethargic. Still, he was much faster than the average human. Much, much faster than Captain Vasquez.
But, when the two finally managed to escape the building, they had no clue where they were in relation to where they had been initially kidnapped. They were facing the ocean, with no signs of civilization nearby. So, they had no choice but to turn back around where they came from.
