"Huh?" said Captain Vasquez as he saw Sonic and Tails return, "Why'd you guys come back?"

"Well…" said Sonic, "We have no clue where the hell we are."

"I see," said Captain Vasquez, "We are on a remote island outside of the main island. I shall have a pair of my soldiers escort you back to your hotel in San Juan, where you are to immediately evacuate Puerto Rico. And don't come back until we are a state!"

Then, an anonymous soldier approached Captain Vasquez and whispered something in his ear.

"Ah… yes… I see," said Captain Vasquez, a somewhat surprised look on his face.

He turned toward Sonic and Tails and said to them, "It appears as if we have confiscated your aircraft. You may have it back. But you are to leave immediately."

"Are we allowed to at least go back to the hotel for our stuff?" said Tails.

"No," said Captain Vasquez.

"I don't get it," said Sonic, "What's the big deal? Why don't you want us here?"

"Bad press," said Captain Vasquez, sticking his cigar in his mouth, "I can't have people thinking just anyone can come clogging up our airspace. People would think I'm not doing my job. Let's just pretend this never happened."

"But if we're not going to be in the airspace?" said Tails.

"Fine, I don't care. Do what you want. We'll pretend this conversation never happened. Now get out of here," said Captain Vasquez.

"And the aircraft?" asked Tails.

"Oh, right," said Captain Vasquez, "I'll have one of my soldiers escort you there. Don't forget: you've got a promise to keep. Adios, muchachos!"

And with that, a soldier escorted Sonic and Tails to Tails' airplane.

Sonic pulled up his GPS on his phone, but there was no signal.

"Looks like we'll have to fly around until we get signal," said Sonic, "And from there, go back to the hotel."

"Sounds like a plan," said Tails, "Hopefully we won't run out of fuel in the meantime."

So Tails started the plain engine. The two hopped in, closed the cockpit, and left the island behind. Far behind.

"How are we going to get Puerto Rico to be a state?" Sonic said.

"Beats me," said Tails, shrugging his shoulders.

"You know, Tails, by your own goody two-shoes virtues, you shouldn't go making promises you can't keep," said Sonic.

"I know," said Tails, "But we were in hot waters. What else was I supposed to do? Besides, it worked, didn't it?"

"I suppose," said Sonic, shaking his head, "Man… I still can't believe he just let us go like that! Either he really wants Puerto Rico to be a state that badly, or he's not the brightest fellow!"

"I feel like it's a combination of both," said Tails, "Any word on that GPS signal?"

"Ah, right!" said Sonic, taking out his cell phone. A disappointed look came across his face, "Nope. Let's just maintain this path we're on."

"It sure would have been nice if he told us what direction from the main island we were," said Tails.

"Maybe we should have asked," said Sonic, "Oh well. Too late now."

So the two kept flying in the same direction. Until they landed. But not in Puerto Rico. Unbeknownst to them, they had landed in the Dominican Republic. Where hardly anyone speaks English.
